00:02It already starts out uncreative by reusing Green Hill Zone for the millionth time.
00:10So already it looks half-assed and weirdly out of touch because the fanbase is sick of it.
00:16Sonic runs past Big the Cat.
00:19I find it interesting that, again, just like in Sonic X,
00:22the first character other than Sonic who appears in a Sonic cartoon is Big of all people.
00:28They have just as little awareness of what the fanbase wanted to see here.
00:33Sonic nicely says sorry and says he's got to help their friends.
00:38I'm glad he's got a voice that sounds like Sonic instead of sounding deep.
00:42I really hope this actor replaces Roger Craig Smith or someone sounding like him.
00:49It's definitely a different continuity than the games because since when is Big one of Sonic's friends?
00:55He said our friends.
00:58Just because they're both playable characters and good guys.
01:02They don't interact much, though.
01:04Big wasn't invited to his birthday in generations.
01:08And they don't have enough in common, as far as we know, to justify them being friends.
01:13So this continuity has to have a different past where they did become friends.
01:18It has to be that when Big's eating, he watches some of the same TV shows that Sonic does when eating.
01:26I really wish Big sounded like an SA-1, but at least they kind of tried.
01:32And why is he fishing here instead of in the mystic jungle?
01:37Sonic recaps that he has friends to the audience that all know this already.
01:41And anyone who isn't a Sonic fan watching this would find out who he's friends with anyway.
01:47Eggman threatens to conquer the world with a magic prism, and Tails catches Sonic when he gets hurt.
01:53Why is Eggman talking instead of using the prism?
01:58He'd use it while talking.
02:02It's weird that he says,
02:03Your world.
02:04So in this show, he's an alien from Sonic's perspective.
02:11It makes sense, since this isn't exactly canon to the games, and he's a human while Sonic's not.
02:18Though it makes the fact that Sega claimed the show is canon a bald-faced lie.
02:25Either that or whoever said that wasn't aware of the actual scripts of these episodes.
02:30Sonic asks Knuckles if he's okay for some reason when he's doing fine.
02:36I hate how deep Knuckles' voice is.
02:40Knuckles calls Sonic late, even though it doesn't matter that he was.
02:45Sonic thanks Rouge.
02:47Amy also calls Sonic out on being late.
02:50But it doesn't matter, because the fight with robots didn't start until after Sonic got there.
02:55So there's no reason they would even care.
02:58And really, how did they get things so wrong that Amy doesn't have any respect for Sonic and is very impatient with him?
03:08So it comes off like most of Sonic's friends don't respect him, because it's not only Knuckles, but also Amy.
03:17And wouldn't it be really dumb if the show never explained why Knuckles is here instead of guarding the Master Emerald?
03:23Tails tells Sonic to be careful, because he doesn't know what the prison's capable of.
03:30And Amy says it can't be good if Eggman wants it.
03:35So naturally, Sonic would want to keep Eggman from getting it.
03:39So he runs towards it.
03:41Tails tells him to wait.
03:43So there's no reason Sonic would keep going.
03:46So the whole plot's forced from here, because he has no respect for his genius friend's advice.
03:53Or the advice of all of his friends who tell him no.
03:57Sonic can stop pretty quick in the game, so there's no excuse.
04:01He can destroy all of his momentum by doing a stomp in midair.
04:06Even if we're pretending this is a different continuity where he can't stop when he starts moving fast.
04:15The prism shatters, and the story starts wasting my time.
04:19Why am I being shown big holograms of Sonic's friends talking?
04:23I already knew they were friends. It was obvious.
04:28Sonic says lamely that he has a sonic boom of a headache.
04:32Do they want me to take this seriously or not?
04:34There's no way he would make a joke in a situation like this.
04:40He wouldn't stay still.
04:43He gets hit by something moving that's made of metal, and he's not acting injured the rest of the story.
04:49So again, I can't tell.
04:52Eggman wouldn't have road cleaners.
04:54He doesn't care.
04:56He gets more slapstick with no consequences.
05:00He must have rings protecting him.
05:02What does it take until now to notice his shoes are being weird?
05:06When he would have heard the electricity that inexplicably makes noise from them earlier.
05:11He wonders why everyone's ignoring him.
05:14That better be explained.
05:15I would assume it's because there's nanobots in them.
05:20But why would he waste all that time making that possible?
05:25Or why would they ignore him when they don't know just from looking at him that he's not supposed to be here?
05:30Eventually, robots fly over to him and say he's an unidentified citizen.
05:37Why would Eggman care about someone being an unidentified citizen when he's taken over the entire world?
05:46This would only make sense if he hadn't taken over the entire world, and so he wanted to punish illegal immigrants.
05:55But he wouldn't want that because he wants to be able to rule over everybody.
06:01So he'd want there to be more people coming into his country.
06:05This is literally just there's an excuse for some robots to try to fight Sonic.
06:11When a better excuse would be Sonic prevented some robots from killing a civilian for some petty reason.
06:20The robots have no charm or animal or insect theme in their design.
06:26Sonic says to give him directions to the council, and he'll take it from there.
06:30Then why does he try to run away from them?
06:33And again, he lampshades his shoes being inexplicably different, which better be explained.
06:38He runs from the robots like it's sad AM, even though he was fine destroying the ones here earlier.
06:45Why don't they just show him try to damage the robots, and fail, and say they're made of really tough metal?
06:53It's cool to see him hang on to something that's flying.
06:56He keeps avoiding lasers and falls, but he's fine.
07:00So again, he must have had rings.
07:03Kind of destroys all the tension involving him when it's clear that it's invincible, right away.
07:08Either he got more rings when I couldn't see him, or the rings work like they do in Shadow the Hedgehog,
07:15where he doesn't lose all of them upon getting hit.
07:19He ends up going so high up that he notices familiar places and realizes his Eggman took over them.
07:26Then there's a flashback that wastes my time.
07:28I already knew Sonic's friends were fighting Eggman before.
07:33It's explained that Eggman wanted Sonic's friends separate from Sonic, cleverly.
07:38That was already a plan he did in Archie.
07:40Sonic would attack here, not do nothing.
07:44He's got no reason to do nothing.
07:48Tails finds out Eggman's not in the Mecca and warns Sonic it's a trap.
07:51And Sonic doesn't get it because Tails was dumb enough not to be very clear, somehow.
07:57He's dumb enough somehow to just repeat himself.
08:01Why doesn't Sonic respect him enough to take his advice?
08:04This doesn't respect either Sonic or Tails.
08:07Eggman calls Tails mutant, too-tailed, and ugly.
08:11It's unrealistic that he never does that.
08:16So he should do it a lot more often.
08:18Unfortunately, instead of this being to establish that Tails deals with this all the time,
08:24and Eggman is just that much of a jerk,
08:27he's only saying this to goud Sonic into attacking.
08:31Sonic ends up knocking the Mecca down to make it fall really far,
08:35and there's this blue explosion sending a big shock wave away from it.
08:40Why does Sonic say he couldn't have done it without Tails?
08:43Tails didn't do anything.
08:45He shot lasers, but they were useless.
08:49How does Knuckles psychically know Tails is upset from so far away?
08:53He has to have magically good vision in this continuity.
08:57Cool.
08:58Eggman reveals he wanted an explosion to happen
09:00so that the earthquake could save him the effort of digging up the prism.
09:04An explosion would make more sense to dig up a prism than an earthquake,
09:11which usually don't involve fissures.
09:14Sonic was nice enough to bring Tails some comics.
09:17Tails thanks him repeatedly,
09:19and Sonic notices Tails sounds depressed and says sorry.
09:24So Sonic is a good friend here.
09:26It would feel even worse if they actually succeeded to make him look like a bad friend,
09:31because that would be completely out of character,
09:33as opposed to only slightly.
09:35But it does make it frustrating what kind of lesson he's expected to learn.
09:40He'd know it's unlike Eggman to not be in a Mecca from experience.
09:46So why is he saying,
09:47not really?
09:49Tails hopes Sonic didn't leave something behind,
09:52and the writing tries to make Sonic look dumb
09:54just because he didn't magically know to bring it to Tails.
09:59Logically, he would have already been told by Tails years ago
10:02to bring the remains of Eggman's robots in Meccas every time
10:05so he could use them.
10:07Sonic humors him and there's exposition.
10:09Why should I care?
10:11He says a lame line when he comes back.
10:13I keep forgetting to mention it.
10:16I like Rouge's new outfit here.
10:18It's a creative effort to give her a new outfit.
10:20And I like the color.
10:22I'd understand why someone would complain
10:24that it doesn't respect the character as much as possible
10:27because she doesn't look exactly like she did in the games.
10:31But it looks good, so I don't give a shit.
10:33It's not like her personality is off,
10:35so I don't care.
10:37Obviously what is off
10:38is the fact that there's no reference to Team Dark in this whole show.
10:42It's never explained why she's hanging out with Sonic
10:45and never Shadow and Omega.
10:48It could be that she's only recently started hanging out with Sonic
10:51and it's only meant to be a temporary thing.
10:53Rouge being a part of Team Sonic is creative.
10:56There's nothing wrong with it.
10:58So that's actually a good thing.
11:00I always liked that this episode of course got right
11:02that Rouge is supposed to be smart.
11:05So she lectured Sonic on Eggman playing like a fiddle.
11:07I hate that Sonic was dumb
11:10by asking how Rouge got in here
11:13when he would have remembered
11:15he left the door open.
11:17And the story wastes time on Eggman saying stuff
11:20the audience was already told.
11:22Cubot and Orbot dragged it out even more
11:24by interrupting him.
11:26It's such blatant, unwarranted comedy.
11:29They wouldn't be able to.
11:32Their free will never made sense.
11:34Because this is the same person
11:37who wanted to put animals in bad mix.
11:40He doesn't respect free will.
11:43Eggman's mecha falls
11:45and he asks why those idiots didn't tell him
11:47how big the first step was.
11:49That plot hole is never explained.
11:52Orbot's not an idiot after all.
11:54We didn't need to see Eggman get to the prism.
11:57This is so boring.
11:59Tails says Rouge is right.
12:02There's more padding.
12:03Or at least I get to hear Sonic say bad mix.
12:07It sounds silly
12:07but so does a fox that can fly
12:09and that's okay.
12:11I take that for granted
12:12but him saying it so late in the series is great
12:15because Sega Japan puros get pissy over even that
12:18because a non-Japanese person
12:20came up with the word.
12:22But this is appealing to the actual fan base.
12:25Only Sonic has the word bad mix.
12:29It helps give it an identity.
12:30It would do a much better job
12:33if the robots actually had animals in them
12:35like real bad mix was supposed to have.
12:38There's a reason I'm only going to call them robots
12:40for the rest of the show.
12:42There's a long stretch of no plot progression
12:44where nothing I haven't seen before happens.
12:48It's just annoying to hear the high-pitched voice
12:51of the big mecha he's fighting.
12:53It turns out there's a baby Eggman here.
12:56Sonic once said won the name of Green Hill.
12:59That's so lame
13:00and the series only got popular
13:01because his cool personality got marketed.
13:05Why did he leave the baby in the mecha
13:06that was so easy to control
13:08a baby could use it?
13:11Sonic stupidly leaves
13:12and Rouge says he hates the egg.
13:15Sounds lame.
13:17So the new Rouge plans on recruiting Sonic
13:20and asks when she ever steered her friends wrong
13:23and says rhetorical question.
13:26So at least it's not over-glorifying her
13:28by acting like she's never been wrong
13:30just because it pays respect to her intelligence
13:32by having her be the leader of a group of heroes.
13:35It looks like maybe they knew it was a Sally reference
13:38and immediately wanted to address
13:40the possible criticism of her being a creator's pet.
13:43I've never seen Rouge be a leader of heroes before
13:46so that's new and great.
13:48Sonic sees Tails and calls out his name
13:50and he acts like he never heard him
13:53which is impossible
13:54since he's not deaf
13:56or anywhere close to it.
13:59And eventually he finds him in a lab
14:01and calls him Tails
14:02and he asks what he just called him
14:04as if he somehow never heard him before
14:07and never got called that before
14:09and shows he was smart enough
14:11to give himself awesome cybernetic Tails
14:13to better protect himself from being bullied.
14:16That brings up the question of
14:18why didn't Tails do that for himself anywhere else?
14:21I guess because it's painful
14:23to modify himself like that?
14:26Painkillers exist
14:27but they hurt to take anyway.
14:29I know the Tails come out of his belt
14:31but he still would have had to
14:33implant something into his body
14:35so that they could pick up
14:37signals from his brain
14:39so that he could control the Tails.
14:42There would still be chips inside of him.
14:45While it takes great advantage
14:46of Tails' intelligence
14:47it also shows that he's a little stupid
14:49or weak everywhere else in the series.
14:52Just because you don't need to improve yourself
14:54doesn't justify not doing so.
14:56And the robot limbs from the back idea
14:59was already done by Eggman Archie
15:01long ago.
15:02He's got issues
15:04because he's ignoring
15:05that he looked sad
15:07and was nice.
15:09At least it makes perfect sense
15:10that he's paranoid
15:11and has anger issues.
15:14Sonic broke into his house
15:16so he's got a reason
15:18to be afraid of him right away.
15:20The fact that Sonic
15:22knew the password to his lab
15:24would cause him to think
15:25someone told him the password
15:27and sent him there
15:29so that he could
15:30get his hopes up
15:31thinking he had a friend
15:33just to break his heart.
15:35He'd say
15:36what's wrong
15:37not repeatedly say
15:39Tails.
15:41It may be a new idea
15:42to the series
15:42officially
15:43that Tails turned out evil
15:44because Sonic wasn't there.
15:46But this was a common
15:47fan assumption
15:48in the whole series already
15:49because he had bullies
15:50in his backstory
15:51and Sonic was what
15:52inspired him to be a hero.
15:54So it doesn't seem
15:55like it took any effort
15:56and was impressive
15:57to come up with
15:58because it's the assumption
15:59made about Tails
16:00from not even a second
16:01of thought about his backstory.
16:03Why does Sonic say Tails again?
16:06Nine asking
16:07what do you want
16:08is forced
16:09since he thinks he knows
16:10and if he thought
16:11there was a chance
16:12he wanted something
16:13different than tricking him
16:15he'd never hit him.
16:17He's told he goes by Nine
16:19and he tries to attack him.
16:22Why does he think
16:23he still thinks of him
16:23as his friend?
16:24He clearly doesn't
16:26recognize him.
16:28He says he has
16:29the best friends
16:30being unlikely stupid
16:31as he keeps avoiding
16:32his attacks on a train.
16:35Foul and heartless city
16:37is such forced
16:38lame dialogue.
16:40It's like fan fiction.
16:42Good thing most of
16:43the show's dialogue
16:44is fine.
16:45I made it through
16:46all of Archie
16:46so I know
16:47bad dialogue.
16:49He accused him
16:50of playing mind games
16:51with him.
16:53But who would
16:54keep playing
16:55the mind game
16:56with him
16:56this long?
16:58If he wanted
16:59to hurt him
16:59he obviously
17:00would have already
17:00hurt him.
17:02He definitely
17:02has PTSD
17:03or something
17:04by this point
17:05because this is not
17:06a normal level
17:07of paranoia.
17:09It should have explained
17:10Nine's dealt
17:10with mind games
17:11before.
17:12Sonic saves him
17:13from getting hit
17:14by a train
17:15and despite Nine
17:16saying this
17:16won't stop him
17:17from fighting
17:18with him
17:18he conveniently
17:20lets him talk.
17:22So he's only
17:23halfway
17:24changed his mind
17:27about him.
17:28It would make
17:28a lot more sense
17:29if this immediately
17:30caused him
17:31to trust him
17:32because no other
17:33bully would have
17:34ever saved his life.
17:35At risk to himself
17:37mind you.
17:38Who would risk
17:38his life to save
17:39someone that he
17:40only wanted to be
17:41friends with
17:42so he could
17:42break his heart
17:43later.
17:45Beating you back
17:46would mean
17:46self-defense
17:47so if he means
17:49he's stopping
17:49until Sonic
17:50attacks
17:51it makes sense
17:52that he stopped
17:53attacking him.
17:55My initial assumption
17:56was beating you
17:57back meant
17:58he thinks he still
17:59wants to keep
18:00fighting with him
18:01which would make
18:02no sense
18:03because he's
18:04clearly not
18:05tried to fight
18:06him most of the time.
18:09Sonic describes
18:10how he met Tails.
18:11It's distracting
18:12and weird
18:13that it shows
18:13the past
18:14in an 8-bit
18:15style way
18:16and it clearly
18:17isn't necessary
18:18and suitable
18:19because this
18:19isn't the
18:20continuity
18:20of the games.
18:22Well I'm expected
18:23to believe
18:23that no one
18:24has friends
18:25in this world.
18:27Wouldn't Nine
18:27have seen
18:28people standing
18:29around in the
18:30same place
18:31talking like
18:32they're friends
18:33at some point?
18:35That's very
18:35unlikely.
18:37Nine explains
18:38what the audience
18:38already figured out
18:39from the fact
18:40that he turned evil
18:41and made himself
18:42bad-ass.
18:44Nine doesn't look
18:45like he feels
18:45anything about
18:46what Sonic's saying.
18:48Well it could be
18:49justified realistically
18:51because
18:51he's been through
18:53so much
18:53that he would have
18:54learned how to
18:55hide his feelings
18:56better sometimes
18:57to get a poker face
18:59to deal with all
19:00the bullying.
19:01Nine tells him
19:02to stay still
19:03and he does.
19:05He wouldn't
19:06stay still
19:07because he clearly
19:08thought he was
19:09in danger.
19:11Nine would
19:11explain first
19:12not just say
19:14stay still.
19:16This could have
19:17easily resulted
19:18in him
19:18like
19:19eventually
19:21Nine uses a
19:22ran in his
19:23shoes and finds
19:24energy in his
19:24entire body
19:25and his leg.
19:27Sonic calls
19:28him amazing
19:28but he doesn't
19:29appreciate it anyway
19:30because he's not
19:31used to it.
19:33Maybe he thinks
19:34he's overcompensating
19:35with his compliments
19:36out of pity.
19:38Nine just thinks
19:38it's because
19:39Sonic's crazy
19:40due to him
19:40thinking they were
19:41friends.
19:43Well I didn't like
19:43that he called
19:44his shoes ratty
19:45especially since
19:46they don't look
19:47like it
19:48but at least
19:49he means that
19:50he cares
19:50otherwise
19:51he wouldn't care
19:52that he has
19:53worn shoes.
19:54He thinks
19:55he deserves
19:56better.
19:58He eventually
19:58makes it so
19:59that his gloves
19:59and shoes

20:01his energy
20:01so that he's
20:02no longer
20:03gonna slip

20:04making smoke.

20:08and him
20:08get grabbed
20:09by the mecha's

20:11Sonic he told
20:12him to keep
20:12a low profile
20:13and somehow
20:14Sonic gaslights
20:16him about it
20:16arguing with
20:17him over and
20:17over.
20:19This wouldn't
20:19happen.
20:21The theme
20:21of the episode
20:22keeps being
20:23that it's bad
20:24not to take
20:24the advice
20:25of your
20:25allies
20:25which didn't
20:27need to be
20:27taught more
20:27than once
20:28and the writer
20:29had Big at the
20:30start to portray
20:31as enough
20:32of an idiot
20:32to convincingly
20:33need to learn
20:34this lesson.
20:35So why did he
20:36still use
20:37Sonic for it
20:37when he clearly
20:39was supposed
20:39to be cool
20:40and him being
20:40too arrogant
20:41to take the
20:42advice of his
20:42friends
20:43is lame
20:44and annoying.
20:45The whole show
20:46comes off like
20:47the writer hates
20:47Sonic and wants
20:48to endlessly
20:49punish his
20:50justified ego
20:51because he got
20:52told that he's
20:52cocky which
20:54is usually a
20:54bad personality
20:55trait so maybe
20:57it wasn't given
20:57a flattering
20:58description of
20:59him and instead
21:00one that hyper
21:01focused on his
21:02ego.
21:03Yeah because his
21:04ego and attitude
21:04were the only
21:05things that
21:06didn't stand out
21:06from the other
21:07platformer characters.
21:09If they could
21:10care about the
21:10series as a
21:11world the people
21:12in charge would
21:13have prevented
21:14the show from
21:14being so hateful
21:15when depicting
21:16their mascots.
21:18Why is Sonic's
21:19vision blurry
21:20when he first
21:20wakes up?
21:22He gets greeted
21:22by a cyborg
21:23or robot
21:24called Rusty
21:25Rose.
21:27Amy has a good
21:27voice in the show
21:28and so does Tails.
21:30It takes so
21:31long introducing
21:32all of the
21:33Chaos Council.
21:35They aren't a
21:35family somehow
21:36and it's never
21:37explained how that
21:38makes sense
21:39since they're all
21:40Eggmen.
21:41They'd either be
21:42family or clones
21:43but they still
21:44have the same
21:44DNA.
21:46If Eggmen can make
21:46a clone instantly
21:47grown to whatever
21:48age he wants
21:49you'd think you
21:50would have made
21:50a clone of Sonic.
21:52This is really
21:53wasting my time
21:54with dialogue
21:54I don't care about
21:55that never
21:55establishes them
21:56with different
21:57personalities
21:57and it doesn't
21:58point out their
22:00names nearly enough
22:01for me to
22:02memorize them.
22:04They all are
22:04the same as
22:05Eggmen.
22:06I'm sure later
22:07each one will
22:08get an unfunny
22:09gag based on
22:10age's stereotypes
22:11but most of the
22:12time they're just
22:13lazy copies of
22:14Eggman with only
22:14different designs.
22:16After I watched
22:17this episode I
22:18realized they're
22:19like the Deadly
22:20Six except their
22:22stereotype is based
22:23on age.
22:25What makes them
22:25any better than
22:26the Deadly Six?
22:27The Deadly Six at
22:28least has more
22:29creative designs
22:30than them.
22:31Maybe they should
22:32have had one of
22:33the Eggmen look
22:34exactly like the
22:35one from Sonic's
22:37Universe.
22:38It wouldn't feel
22:39as much like
22:40Eggman isn't in
22:42the show even
22:43though he really
22:44is.
22:45Come on.
22:45It's the same
22:45personality.
22:47Eventually Sonic
22:48has to go through
22:48a test where he
22:49dodges even
22:50more lasers.
22:52So it's just
22:52more lazy
22:53repetition.
22:54It only tries to
22:55be entertaining
22:56with the different
22:56camera angles and
22:57music.
22:58Like he isn't
22:59doing anything new
23:00that I don't
23:00already expect him
23:01to be able to do.
23:03He hits a
23:03spring with the
23:04accurate sound
23:05effect.
23:06It's rare for
23:06another continuity
23:07to do that
23:08average quality
23:09thing.

23:10already a spring
23:11there?
23:12they didn't
23:12know they
23:13were gonna
23:13have Sonic
23:14to test
23:15until very
23:16recently.
23:18I guess they
23:18had nanobots
23:19make the
23:20spring so fast.
23:21Anyways,
23:22it looks impressive
23:23that he ran on
23:24a spinning fan.
23:25It's frustrating
23:26when he complains
23:27about Rusty having
23:27no compassion for
23:28him like he
23:29expects her to.
23:30He can't be
23:31that dumb.
23:33The whole episode
23:34is just frustrating
23:35because the people
23:35in charge of these
23:36writers think
23:37Sonic's impossibly
23:38stupid to the
23:39point where
23:40the stupidity
23:40overshadows the
23:41cruel aspects of
23:42his personality
23:43to make him
23:43unbearably lame.
23:45It also lacks
23:46self-awareness
23:47because the
23:47narrative only
23:48treats Sonic as
23:49stupid even
23:50though all of
23:50the main characters
23:51are just as
23:52stupid as him
23:53to force the
23:54plot alone.
23:55I get to see
23:56Nine get shocked.
23:58Sonic runs in
23:59the ball and
24:00then gets shown
24:01another pointless
24:02bit of panic
24:03just because
24:04Sonic spread his
24:05magic all over
24:06the ball.
24:07For no
24:07reason he's
24:08told off by
24:09Shadow from
24:09another dimension
24:10for breaking
24:11the prism.
24:12Why wouldn't
24:13he be sent to
24:13the same world
24:14that Shadow's in
24:15when he's
24:15running so much
24:17that he
24:18briefly sees
24:19something from
24:20a different
24:20universe?
24:22I think he's
24:22being shown his
24:23friends' point of
24:24view, but
24:25there's so many
24:25camera angles
24:26that I end up
24:27assuming he
24:27wasn't.
24:28So Tails flies
24:29his plane over
24:30his smoky area
24:31and finds out he
24:32and his friends
24:32got here before

24:47ends with Shadow
24:48trying to attack
24:49him for no
24:50apparent reason.
24:52Why did the story
24:52keep showing
24:53flashbacks?
24:54What was the
24:54point of not
24:55showing the story
24:56in chronological
24:56order?
24:58Which was most
24:58of why Sonic
24:59Live by Ken
25:00Penders was
25:00confusing and
25:01off-putting.
25:02It doesn't do
25:03anything good.
25:04It just makes
25:04the story a little
25:05harder to
25:05understand and
25:06emotionally be
25:07invested in.
25:08And I came
25:09into this review
25:10already knowing
25:11Sonic was an
25:12idiot in the
25:12show because I
25:13was warned about
25:14it and saw a lot
25:15of the complaints
25:16about it.
25:17I appreciate
25:18whenever it does
25:19something the
25:19series never did
25:20before.
25:21What they did
25:22new with Rouge and
25:23Tails and Amy in the
25:24new universe was
25:25respectful to their
25:26characters.
25:27But it was all
25:28just ideas that
25:28were already done
25:29and were just
25:30never done with
25:31those characters
25:31before.
25:32Rusty Rose is
25:33just Mecha
25:34Sally and
25:34the Badniks
25:35again.
25:36Rouge being a
25:37leader of a
25:37group of heroes
25:38is just for
25:39being in Sonic's
25:40position from the
25:41games and
25:41reminded me of
25:42Sally.
25:43I already saw
25:44an evil
25:44tales in Archie
25:45and it's just as
25:46off-putting and
25:47unfitting here.
25:48The premise of the
25:49show about going
25:49to other dimensions
25:50just made me think
25:51of Rick and Morty
25:52and the first
25:52Sonic comics and
25:53assume it'd be
25:53done worse.
25:55In this episode
25:56by Eric Waste,
25:59Sonic for no
25:59reason ignores his
26:01genius best friend
26:02and his other
26:02resentful friends
26:04when they tell him
26:05not to head for
26:06the magic gem
26:07and runs into it
26:09when he could
26:09stomp on a dime
26:10all because Amy
26:11talks like he
26:12should keep Eggman
26:13from getting it
26:14which could
26:15swear to either
26:15attack Eggman
26:16as robots as
26:17usual or go
26:18after the gem
26:19to try to
26:21damage it
26:21which is also
26:22out of character
26:23because it's not
26:23like he ever
26:24tries to damage
26:24the Chaos Emeralds.
26:26So if she and
26:27his friends had the
26:28functioning brains
26:28to be specific
26:29with him,
26:30he wouldn't
26:31have shattered
26:31the prism
26:32and gone
26:32into a universe
26:33where Tails
26:33never met
26:33Sonic and
26:34Eggman took
26:35over the world.
26:36Even the lack
26:37of Tails
26:37helping out
26:38shouldn't have
26:38mattered because
26:39Knuckles and
26:39Rouge were still
26:40fighting against
26:41him and
26:41Knuckles in the
26:42classic days was
26:43just better
26:43Sonic except
26:44with a lower
26:44jump.
26:46So Knuckles
26:46would have
26:46effortlessly
26:47prevented Eggman
26:48from taking
26:48over the world
26:49because Eggman
26:51would have met
26:51him but not
26:52had Sonic to
26:54distract him from
26:54him.
26:55So you think
26:56Knuckles would have
26:56just killed
26:57Eggman long
26:58before this.
26:59Oh yeah,
27:00it also doesn't
27:01explain why
27:01the Knuckles in
27:02this universe
27:03isn't guarding
27:03a Master Emerald.
27:05There is a reason
27:06most of the other
27:07continuities have
27:07Eggman have to
27:08take over the world
27:09when Sonic was
27:10five,
27:11so that it can
27:12fool the audience
27:12into feeling like
27:13it feels right
27:14that he and his
27:14friends weren't
27:15competent and brave
27:16enough to stop him
27:16back then.
27:18It's good that
27:18there's a serious
27:19tone as an action
27:20adventure show.
27:22That's like
27:22complimenting Sonic
27:23on being fast.
27:24But half the reason
27:25the whole episode
27:26happened was
27:27Sonic's friends
27:27were just as stupid
27:28as he was.
