00:00Chuck asks Sally what he'd ever want to make a giant motorized robot.
00:04Because somehow a genius doesn't instantly assume she means that he'd be made capable of destroying cell bars to save Bunny and destroy the roboticizer.
00:14Even though not questioning the plan would give her time to explain herself and he'd know that,
00:19he thinks it's worthwhile to waste time saying that one Eggman's more than enough,
00:24when he'd know she wouldn't want him to make the robot think like Eggman.
00:28The plan is even stupider than I thought.
00:31I thought the robot was going to be able to shoot lasers to blast through the walls to get to Bunny,
00:36but instead Sally wants to use it as a Trojan horse for all of them to hide in.
00:41Because a smart character can't be smart if the writer doesn't let her.
00:45And the writer wants a kooky, kiddy idea to resolve a sad AM plot.
00:50As if that would fit the tone of the rest of the story.
00:53She says Eggman's in love with himself, so he would accept anything that looks just like him.
01:00He wouldn't think it was a tribute though, because the heroes made it.
01:03Who else would've?
01:05She wouldn't think he's stupid.
01:07If only it was explained that they all know that a part of the Robian reprogramming is that the Robians make tributes to Eggman after work hours.
01:15You'd think Eggman would be vain enough to have that arranged.
01:18Actually do something with the Robians.
01:21That'd explain why he wouldn't instantly assume a giant robot looking like him was not made by the heroes.
01:27He'd leave it where it is and have Swatbots be stationed around it.
01:31Somehow nobody realizes this should happen.
01:34Instead everyone's convinced and Sonic calls it a cool idea.
01:38It is good to have a heroic character compliment his friend.
01:42But this only sounds like a cool idea, and only in a vacuum.
01:47Antoine says he sees a problem with this plan.
01:49Finally someone does.
01:51But I bet the writer would be too stupid to know what it is.
01:55After some time is wasted with Sonic and him insulting each other for their personalities,
01:59with Antoine inexplicably saying that Sonic is always putting Sally in danger when they just started being heroes and Sally's idea to go freedom fighting.
02:08Sally tells him to stop arguing.
02:10And calmly asks him what he thinks the problem is with the plan.
02:13Not insulting him for not liking her plan.
02:18See, this is why I say she's polite and archy.
02:21Because this is reminding me of how she was there most of the time.
02:25Harmless unless she was interacting with Sonic.
02:28She doesn't act like an oversensitive Sonic fan would if you insulted something they liked.
02:34Antoine asks how they would ever be able to find Bunny because the city is huge.
02:39Sally reminds him that since Chuck's seen the jail cells in Robotropolis and the Roboticizer,
02:45he would save them a lot of time and trouble if he remembers how to get to them.
02:50So why didn't Antoine know that?
02:52Chuck gets scared just being asked where the Roboticizer is located.
02:57I hate that the writers made him a coward.
03:01He's even more of one than Antoine.
03:03There's no appeal to this version of the character.
03:07He says he doesn't remember any of his experiences as a robot
03:10because this is an alternate universe from Satiem itself.
03:14Just because your brain is metal doesn't mean it should stop recording long-term memory the same way.
03:20When the memories are the same thing physically,
03:22just zeros and one of electric current.
03:24It only feels like it makes sense on a metal level
03:27because it looks like a different person after the de-roboticization happens.
03:31And two different people don't share memories.
03:34How do you think the info is buried deep in his memory then
03:37if it's a matter of two different forms having two different sets of memories
03:40because the ring that de-roboticized him did so by sending his body back in time?
03:45The only way he wouldn't remember being a robot.
03:48Sally must be desperate to think that a ring being used on him would get that information.
03:52It's not like it can roboticize him.
03:55It's not the same one that de-roboticized him that they're going to use.
04:00Well, if it can de-roboticize him,
04:02it makes just as much sense that it could do something else
04:04because that's convenient to tell when Chuck had no way of knowing anyone would want de-roboticization.
04:10Only the magic that's in all of the world combining with the powers of the rings
04:15and giving them new powers make those powers possible.
04:20That makes as much sense as Chaos Emerald so far.
04:23If the Emerald can combine with a power in a magical enough being
04:26to allow him to do a new power in the form of Chaos Control,
04:30this is the same principle.
04:32The book should have explained that.
04:34Sonic goes to the Lake of Rings.
04:37And surprisingly, Tails is there for no reason instead of in school or reading at home.
04:42He doesn't have a book with him, so he had nothing to do here.
04:46Was he here hoping that Sonic would come for a ring and then ask for his help?
04:50I guess so.
04:52It's too bad that isn't explained.
04:53That's pretty sad that he'd waste all his time just sitting here with nothing to entertain himself.
04:59Sonic tells Tails he could help him by grabbing the ring when it comes out of the lake.
05:03Tails grabs the ring and is beaming with pride at the very easy task he did that Sonic could have done too.
05:11And I'm just steaming at how condescendingly he's portrayed
05:14and wondering how he thinks this is good enough for him.
05:18He's not three years old.
05:20Sonic tells Tails he did good work,
05:22puts the ring in front of Chuck,
05:24and images from his memory get projected on the wall.
05:28Sally saves all those convenient images in Nicole's memory banks.
05:32I forgot Nicole existed and didn't notice that she hasn't had any lines.
05:37Good, that means I got through the story faster.
05:40An image of the inside of Robotropolis gets Sally to say that's exactly what they need.
05:46And Chuck wakes up when the ring is taken away from him.
05:50It wasn't worth it to have Chuck beat Dirobotta size
05:52if it was only done to have this padding where they had to get a ring.
05:58Sonic keeps the ring in his backpack just in case, which is smart of him.
06:03He does it all the time in the show.
06:05It'd be so much easier for Sonic if the rings were energy that just stayed in his bloodstream so he could use them at will.
06:11And energy being solid isn't really interesting.
06:15And it being a new idea doesn't necessarily make it good.
06:19So rings are done wrong.
06:21But it's such a nitpick I don't feel anything about it.
06:24It's still great writing that he has a backpack so he can keep stuff in it.
06:29The only reason he doesn't do that in the games is it'd never be useful due to the way the adventures are.
06:34The story tries to look realistic by having it take a few days for the big robot to be built.
06:41Antoine says excellent job.
06:43Why does it have to have Tails ask if he could go with them on the adventure and get told no
06:47when he's just as capable as the rest of them?
06:51It's condescending that Sonic says he needs him to look after Chuck and protect Nothole.
06:57It's if Chuck needs it or he could protect Nothole.
07:00Tails is worthless in his eyes even though he can fly and none of the Sad EM characters have magic powers like that.
07:08You'd think that'd impress him.
07:10It's a perpetual cycle.
07:12He thinks he's worthless because he never helps him and he never helps him because he's not given a chance
07:16because he's seen as worthless.
07:19Sad EM would have had Tails fighting Sonic when he has a good excuse to feel right and be cathartic
07:25when the whole show was justifying such a thing.
07:28It looks like the only reason Tails has to like Sonic is his speed.
07:34Which is not enough to justify liking this jerk.
07:37And Sonic only likes Tails because he's a cute kid for now and is willing to serve him.
07:42It's not telling me anything deeper than that is the case.
07:45Like in AOSDH.
07:47So the heroes get into the robot they made.
07:49And Rotor has some controls to sit at so it's not actually a robot.
07:53Eggman instantly figures that the heroes are hiding inside that thing.
07:58It's meant to make Eggman show his smart side.
08:01But it just makes the heroes stupid.
08:03He thinks it's a sorry likeness of him.
08:06And tells the natively to have a team of robots bring that giant robot to the large cargo storage room.
08:12I love that Sonic says all of this waiting is driving him nuts.
08:17That's just like him.
08:18But why is he asking what do they do now when they should have thought of that earlier?
08:23Of course they have to keep waiting.
08:25It turns out there's a wall around Robotropolis so the gate has to get opened for them.
08:30And the robots may only push the robot inside.
08:32I don't know why Eggman didn't make the orders to have the robots stay around the giant one if not to try to get inside.
08:41The heroes would have to leave it eventually.
08:44And then the robots would bring them to Bunny so they could see her get roboticized.
08:49Why is Eggman doing it this way?
08:51The plot falls apart just so the heroes can win.
08:54Sonic says the way to go and Sally used a projection light from Nicole to get a map of the city on the wall so they could figure out how to get to the cells.
09:03Why are they all doing their special handshake when every second they waste is making Bunny have to wait even longer in the cell?
09:10Why did Muskie come along with them if this is a world where the robots are invincible?
09:15How is this supposed to help them?
09:16It would have been believable if the reason the heroes were able to track down Bunny was simply that Muskie tracked down her scent.
09:24None of this convoluted, not explained ring memory crap was needed.
09:29Why are they overprotective of Tails and not Muskie?
09:34A cage falls from the ceiling and traps the heroes.
09:37Then for blatant padding, there's a boring scene that just has Eggman gloat to Snively.
09:43He says to send all the robots to bring Sonic to him.
09:47Why would it just be Sonic?
09:49I thought he wanted all the heroes to witness Bunny's robotization.
09:54They were all a thorn in his side.
09:56Not that we got to learn what they were doing to him.
09:58Because that would have actually given the audience respect for them as competent heroes.
10:03I don't compliment every time Snively's being respectful in his dialogue since he doesn't actually like him and Eggman's the bad guy.
10:10So it's not heartwarming.
10:12He's just a pathetic servant that was never needed because a robot could do and say what he does.
10:17And always makes me wonder why he wasn't roboticized from the start if Eggman's pure evil.
10:23Snively makes an announcement saying to bring Sonic and his friends to Eggman.
10:27Even though he wasn't told to say that last part.
10:30And conveniently, Eggman doesn't hit him when he's supposed to be a control freak.
10:34Why doesn't Eggman make all the announcements?
10:38Wouldn't he like doing that?
10:40Eggman also tells Snively it was a nice touch that he said fellow traitors.
10:45But it's not heartwarming because it's just to encourage him to be more like him for the sake of it.
10:49So that's not good either.
10:51But I suppose Snively being delighted is good because Eggman made someone happy.
10:56Even if it's for the wrong reason and he didn't deserve it.
10:59But Sally says she'll bet Eggman took Bunny only to lure the rest of them here.
11:04Duh!
11:05Why did she ever think Bunny wasn't going to be roboticized right away?
11:10Would she have to have thought to even think building a robot for a few days would be a good idea?
11:17If she hadn't been running under this assumption all along?
11:20The extent of Sally's stupidity is supposed to just be that she insists on Antoine being on the team.
11:25And even that's understandable because she wants him to toughen up.
11:29Sonic looks like a swirling blue buzzsaw as he cuts through the cage's bars.
11:35Why weren't the bars made immune to his spin dash?
11:38Eggman's an idiot.
11:40He could have had electric bars.
11:43Sonic and Rotor throw parts of the cage at the robot.
11:47I don't know why it's at the top because that'd be too heavy for them.
11:51And it wasn't established in the series yet that Sonic is stronger than he looks.
11:56The robots get knocked over and the heroes run out of the room led by Sonic.
12:01Why doesn't it explain that he told them all to grab on and run at his Sonic speed?
12:06Why would he run at his slow speed so they could keep up when that applies he has no faith in them?
12:12Rotor's detector of robots was brought with them and yet he's not using it for the robot exploder purpose.
12:17What's so much better about them wasting our time hiding so that the robots would run around a bend?
12:23It's unique from most of the franchise.
12:26It's just barely good compared with making them explode with the robot exploder.
12:33Antoine just has to whine loud enough that the robots hear them and try to shoot energy at them.
12:39So Sonic runs towards them and outruns all of their blasts.
12:44He says they need to take some extra target practice at each other.
12:48Which is a great line for Sonic but should have warned them not to aim at each other.
12:53I guess they didn't have the time to think to be careful when they're just slaves to their programming.
12:58And the programming doesn't say to not fire at each other if Sonic's in the way.
13:02So Sonic goes in between them to make them shoot each other.
13:05This is way more impressive and interesting than I'm simply defeating them the normal way, I'll give it that.
13:12Sonic should have been doing this to the robots the entire show.
13:16It's also got the catharsis that Eggman's hyperconfidence backfired on him.
13:21He didn't have to give the SWAT bots projectile attacks.
13:24Sonic sees one SWAT bot left.
13:27And somehow that one robot has the other heroes cornered.
13:31He uses his ring unnecessarily to boost in a circle around it.
13:36Which makes his head spin so fast in short circuits.
13:40That's creative and interesting but why?
13:43Why just the head?
13:44The heads of the robots aren't fastened as well to them as the rest of their bodies for no reason.
13:49I think that all that would happen would be the robot would spin around and stand there dizzy.
13:54And then Sonic could get his friends away.
13:55It sounds silly but Sonic heroes have this happen with the Eggpons.
14:00Because the Eggpons weren't designed that horribly.
14:04Sonic using a ring shouldn't be necessary for him to run around something fast enough to spin it.
14:09He's supposed to be cool.
14:10So what's good about this making him less cool?
14:13It's not like he ran around enemies to spin them way too many times in the games.
14:17And so he needs to be underpowered because that's creative's pet levels of OP.
14:20After all he shouldn't have too much of an edge over his enemies or they become the underdog.
14:27But no Eggman and him are almost equally matched in the games.
14:30You can tell because Sonic doesn't one shot his every boss fight.
14:34It just doesn't seem that way because Sonic has to always win.
14:37It's just a minor difference that would improve this.
14:40So it's still a great scene.
14:43Sonic tells his friends to hang on to him and they form a chain.
14:46And Sonic boosts away with them in tow.
14:48So why didn't he have this happen much earlier?
14:52They didn't have to stop to fight the robots.
14:55If Sally and Roto were win properly they would have told him to do this earlier.
14:59They should have justified more why he didn't just run ahead and ignore the robots.
15:05They should have said there were just that many robots that they couldn't do that.
15:09And he couldn't even jump over them because they're that tall.
15:12Roto says nice work to Sonic after they stopped to check the map again.
15:17All of the cells are empty.
15:20And Nicole can't project the extra route to the roboticizer for them because the image she got of it isn't clear.
15:26That doesn't mean the route to it would be unclear.
15:28Just the roboticizer itself.
15:30She needs to say that he doesn't remember the route.
15:33Matsuke runs away because he's only just now picked up Bunny's scent.
15:37They couldn't have just given him some of her fur for that in the first place.
15:41Oh no.
15:43Maybe the logic is because he's not a bloodhound he's not that good at tracking.
15:47But it's a magic world.
15:49No one would have questioned it.
15:51There's padding until the ceiling slides open and a bunch of robots drop down from above.
15:57Roto says it's detector to the signal that would destroy the SWAT bots making me ask why the hell he didn't do that earlier.
16:03But before he could activate the device it gets shot.
16:08So he should have been walking the whole time he was doing this.
16:12No one would think he's safe standing still here.
16:15The heroes get surrounded and led into a large room.
16:18How inconvenient for the heroes that the SWAT bots somehow didn't decide to try to shoot them this time.
16:24Which would have them be able to duck in time and get them all destroyed.
16:28Why do they know when to shoot and when not to?
16:31Why would they ever think they shouldn't shoot?
16:33The heroes could have easily just been ridden to go into their room with their roboticizer instead of needing to be brought here.
16:39They could have been brought all the way here because SWAT bots were stationed around the giant robot in the first place.
16:46Then we wouldn't have had the one great scene in the story.
16:50They don't have Eggman know that it's a Trojan horse.
16:54Don't have them know that the robot was even brought there.
16:58Because why was he even looking at a camera that was aimed at the robot?
17:02Should they have been doing something for fun instead of just staring at boring camera footage?
17:08The predictable stuff happens.
17:10Finally, Bunny's put in the roboticizer and it turns on.
17:15Sonic becomes a blue blur and says that it's time to do a supersonic spin.
17:20And a supersonic spin smashes robot after robot.
17:24I assume this means spin jump because that's what the Western manuals call spin jump.
17:29If he always knew about this, he had no excuse for not doing that the whole time.
17:35Apparently, this was supposed to be a story about how Bunny became half-robot.
17:40That's pointless and unnecessary because this clearly isn't enough different from Sadie M to be a separate universe anyways.
17:46And in this retelling, Bunny's body became robotic too.
17:51And only her head and right arm weren't upgraded.
17:54Since her head wasn't changed, Sally should already know her mind is working.
17:59I guess the logic for why she passed out is that she passed out from the pain.
18:04It's confusing because when this happened in Archie, this didn't happen.
18:09Snivley says when Sonic smashed the glass to save Bunny, the doors became impossible to open.
18:16Getting everyone stuck in the control room.
18:19Almost like he should have just had normal doors.
18:21Why would smashing the roboticizer make a completely separate control panel not work?
18:29Part of the control panel's necessary wiring was connected to the roboticizer for no reason?
18:37Rotor crosses the circuits in the roboticizer and attaches a portable generator, which is a bomb.
18:43Why did he need to cross the circuits in it to make a bomb functional?
18:48Eggman and Snivley are in another room from the heroes, so it's fine.
18:54The heroes escape, somehow thinking it matters that they destroyed the roboticizer when people who can still make it are still around.
19:03Which wouldn't be the case if Rotor's bomb was way better.
19:07He had no excuse for making the bomb so pathetic that it didn't accomplish that.
19:11Because they knew Sonic would be able to boost while his friends all hang on to him, so he could make the explosion way larger.
19:17And not get caught in it.
19:19Either he's not capable of making a better bomb, or he didn't want to kill them.
19:24Most people don't want to kill people, so it's easier to believe the latter.
19:28Because the narration said earlier he could invent anything.
19:32So he's pretty stupid.
19:33The force of the explosion sends Eggman, Snivley, and Cluck flying.
19:39And they land in a pile on top of one another.
19:42Since they have pictures for the book, something should be illustrated, and this isn't.
19:48Eggman says this is all Snivley's fault.
19:51Surprisingly, Snivley's written to not be servile to him, which is an out-of-character moment if you go by how he was the whole book.
19:58I assume the logic is, is the straw that broke the camel's back.
20:03He says it's his robot's roboticizer and chicken that failed him.
20:07How did his chicken fail him?
20:09But it was so cathartic that he said that to Eggman.
20:13But you're supposed to have the heroes say cathartic stuff to Eggman.
20:16The original appeal of his character, if any, was to prop Eggman up as the scared, servile one.
20:22But since that was redundant and sad AM, the real problem with this is that it makes no sense that Snivley doesn't get roboticized for this.
20:31A large steel wall drops in front of the heroes on their way to the main gate to the city.
20:38And Bunny gets so mad at being upgraded that she kicks a big hole in the wall.
20:43How convenient that the Robians are all given super strength for no reason.
20:48As it's not like they're made to try to hunt down the heroes all the time.
20:51Even though that would be the smart thing to do.
20:54Use the Robians to hunt down other people.
20:57I mean, the Robians that used to have jobs that aren't going to be necessary anymore.
21:03Like athletes.
21:05There won't be sports anymore, I think.
21:07With no free will.
21:09I always assumed the super strength was an unintentional side effect of being a robot.
21:14So the heroes all go home.
21:16Tails praises Sonic and so does Chuck.
21:18And Sonic thanks them.
21:21Sonic is somehow stupid enough to say he should try to restore Bunny to normal with the ring.
21:26Even though Bunny just learned how useful her being a half-robot is.
21:31Somehow nobody thinks they should stop him.
21:35Predictably, the ring doesn't downgrade her back to her lame self.
21:39Eggman changed the roboticizers so that the rings can't de-roboticize people anymore.
21:45That's impossible.
21:46The rings would only be able to de-roboticize with magic anyways.
21:50How did he put anti-magic on the roboticizer?
21:54It should be explained because they found some magic material in a mine to do it.
21:58I assume that nearly everyone currently roboticized in Robotropolis was done so with the original roboticizer.
22:05So Sonic could and should still be de-roboticizing people with rings.
22:10And I don't see how Eggman could update the Robians to be immune to rings.
22:15Bunny tells Sonic this is okay because she's just thankful she has such good friends and she loves everyone here.
22:21That's nice.
22:23Cynical people would say they want a bucket from this.
22:26Probably because her being so sentimental came out of nowhere.
22:30She had the personality of a cardboard cutout until now.
22:34A Texan accent is not a personality.
22:37She wasn't even written to have her accent.
22:39Thankfully.
22:40I'm glad Antoine was never written with his accent either.
22:44Because it makes it easier to read.
22:46It trusts you to know they have the accents because no one would read this without seeing the show first.
22:51The story ends with Sonic saying they should call her Bunny Rabo and everyone laughs.
22:56Which is pretty naive to write.
22:57But nicer than having her get offended by it.
23:00She did just express gratitude over being upgraded.
23:03So why would she?
23:05Still.
23:06Sonic saying they should call her a nickname based on her permanently being changed against her will was a dickheaded out of character thing saying.
23:13Bunny should have been the one that suggested it.
23:16And then I would have liked it better than Bunny Rabo being her real name.
23:21Which misses the point of the name in the first place.
23:24Where that was obviously not what she was given that name by the person who came up with her.
23:30This was by Michael K. Tellbom.
23:33And was about Bunny getting kidnapped and needing rescue.
23:37While I appreciated getting to see another Sadie M style story so I could talk about Sadie M again.
23:42That doesn't make it good to the average person because this is such a badly written plot.
23:48It just makes all the characters chess pieces to serve the plot making them all idiots instead of respecting them.
23:55There was no reason for the story to last this long.
23:57Sure, Rotor would only have so much stamina to run after a robot.
24:02But Sally could have run over to Sonic.
24:05Told them to run after Rotor.
24:07And so Sonic would catch up to Rotor.
24:10And grab the robot exploder from him.
24:13And so he would catch up to Bunny and save her.
24:16Rotor's a genius.
24:17He would have known better.
24:19He would have been able to see the robot in the distance.
24:22It's not like it's got super speed.
24:25The book had 66 pages.
24:27But there's no reason they couldn't have had the book consists of multiple stories.
24:31Instead of a really basic plot that was incredibly padded out.
24:35Why did they think their ridiculous, goofy, Trojan horse idea wasn't just going to result in them being surrounded by SWAT bots and taking Eggman?
24:42Which is what ends up somehow happening anyways.
24:45Sonic knows that he can do a spin jump.
24:48So why didn't he just do that right away?
24:50There was one great scene because the robots were being destroyed in ways that are more interesting and impressive for him than the games.
24:59But it was all for nothing because he got captured anyways.
25:02Which could have happened as soon as they got out of the mecha.
25:05And the rest of the book was boring.
25:07Being uneventful and dragged out.
25:10And the rest of the book was boring.
