00:00Knuckles Show Episode 2. After wasting my time, eventually the bad guys leave the car Knuckles was in, and one
00:08of them says they're an ice-capped ski resort. I feel like that was corny.
00:13I think it's just out of place to do Sonic location references in a live-action place, because we all
00:20know it's not that world.
00:23So that's where they want to do the exchange. And then Wade drives here, and eventually says that normally it'd
00:31call for backup here, but this is Montana.
00:34This was a nice explanation for why him being a cop doesn't come in handy enough.
00:39It would be pretty disappointing if him being a cop, which is normally a pretty interesting idea, which would have
00:47a lot of story potential, never comes into play in the entire show.
00:52When Wade first showed up in the car, let's just say I really wished that he had a distinct, memorable
01:00design.
01:01He's just a brown-haired guy.
01:04Eventually after some padding, during which they try to be funny because Knuckles wonders if he's in a deep pit,
01:11but he's not.
01:12And Knuckles uncharacteristically laughs maniacally before threatening to tear someone's arms off.
01:19Well, at least it's good that the writer is aware of how evil he made on the last episode.
01:24As much as this show doesn't deserve holding out for a hero, I can't help but sort of like it
01:30because it sounds good.
01:32But this is too early in the show to have something that justifies the song.
01:38I was surprised to see him do something that sent a whole bunch of fire at that lady's hair in
01:43a kid's show.
01:44And it just missed her skin.
01:47I was also surprised when Knuckles said he wanted to give him a hug.
01:51Then it turns out Wade was just daydreaming the whole time.
01:55So that explains the out-of-character moments and how it made him successful the whole time.
02:00Despite the fact that he'd have no experience with disabling the security system.
02:05And it seems to me like the only thing creative about it was the fire part.
02:11So this was all a waste of time and they wasted holding out for a hero on an imagine sequence.
02:19That's an impressive level of incompetence.
02:23Why is that lady talking to Knuckles even though she told someone not to talk to him earlier?
02:29Then she shouldn't have been willing to complain about him doing that.
02:33Especially since he was taunting Knuckles.
02:36She says when this is over he'll learn everything about her.
02:40But I thought she was just going to send him to someone else.
02:44Why does she think only she has the right to taunt him?
02:49The script sucks here.
02:51Because while I know everything about you and this is all over, you will.
02:55You will know everything about you?
03:00If Wade's going to be sneaking into a building, why is he going to play a song that anybody can
03:06hear?
03:08Wouldn't that just draw attention to him?
03:11I like that because he couldn't really reach the button on his phone and he didn't turn on the music
03:17before putting on the glove.
03:19He had to use his nose against it.
03:22Because I guess he was too lazy to take the glove off first.
03:26And he settled for a sad song out of impatience.
03:30Normally Sonic isn't meant to be funny.
03:33Since there were barely any jokes in the classic era.
03:36But since the show was doomed to suck,
03:39It's good that there's a ton of comedy because it does comedy better than the other shows anyway.
03:45Wade fires from the gloves and gets sent back.
03:48And then motor oil falls on the car and the spray lands in just the right way on the ground.
03:54And the match gets lit because it hits the ground after opening itself.
03:59So this sets the car on fire.
04:02Unlikely things happen in real life.
04:05But this wouldn't have happened anyway because why did he have the motor oil so close to him in the
04:11first place?
04:12He should have known the thing he sent out of the gloves would push him backwards because that's basic high
04:18school physics.
04:21The glove on his hand makes him start flying in a direction he doesn't want to.
04:26Which I sort of like.
04:28I can't imagine someone laughing at that because of his silly screaming about it.
04:33And because there's something a lot funnier about physical slapstick when it's happening to a live action character like Kramer.
04:40Then he flies into the window with his glove head first.
04:45Why did Wade leave one of the gloves on the floor?
04:49It succeeds to try and make the bad guy menacing because Wade tries to crawl away from him but he
04:54throws him.
04:55Although Wade telling him we just met is dissonant with the tone.
05:00We didn't need to see Knuckles get told that the rescue isn't going well.
05:04We already knew she was mean.
05:07And of course they'd be able to hear this.
05:11After some more padding, during which there's even more tone whiplash because the bad guy's mom calls him and says
05:18she loves him.
05:19And I wonder how Wade could possibly think they're really friends when he's being held by the throat.
05:25Eventually Wade sprays him in the eyes with something spicy.
05:30Which I think didn't happen in the Sonic series before.
05:34And ends up casually going into the room with Knuckles.
05:37Why does he bother talking to him after that?
05:41Eventually.
05:42Finally ends up lampshading that the bad guys don't look menacing at all.
05:47He's asked what he wants with Knuckles.
05:49And he says they're going to win a bowling tournament.
05:53Which I guess is another thing people found funny.
05:56Because it sounded a lot cooler in his head.
05:59But it's in character for him to be like that.
06:01And it's supposed to be a comedy.
06:03I'm surprised Wade's planning on having an alien be his partner in the bowling tournament.
06:09I thought he kind of wanted to hide him to avoid freaking people out.
06:14If only Wade bowls later.
06:17Weird isn't going to make any sense.
06:19And he sends the glove flying at the box Knuckles' sin.
06:23And it causes an explosion.
06:25But conveniently that doesn't even hurt Wade.
06:29And it frees him.
06:31Wade must have had rings.
06:34Wade loves riding on his back while he's sliding.
06:37And he wonders why he didn't tell him he could do that.
06:40He had no incentive to.
06:42And that wasn't the main source of his pride.
06:44Since when can Knuckles only glide for very short distances?
06:49This was a downgrade just to force Wade to get thrown into a dumpster.
06:54That already happened to Sonic.
06:57In Sonic Prime.
06:59And I had this criticism before the show.
07:02What's the point of Slapstick with no consequences?
07:06His magic car starting power makes as much sense as his glide.
07:11But still feels dumb.
07:13So it wasn't worth it.
07:16Knuckles would have just run carrying Wade.
07:18It's so obvious Knuckles punching something would have just noticeably damaged the car and make it even more undrivable.
07:27When he's able to smash a boulder.
07:31Eventually.
07:32Surprisingly.
07:33Knuckles says they won nothing tonight.
07:35Even though he freed him.
07:37And just whines that he got lucky.
07:39So he should be acting grateful for the rescue.
07:42I know what his excuse is for it.
07:45And that doesn't make me feel any better.
07:48Wade reasons with him.
07:49And somehow that caused them to do a 180.
07:53Immediately.
07:54I really find it annoying that people have a problem with seeing real-life brands in works of fiction.
08:02That doesn't negatively impact the plot or characters.
08:06It'd be great if we found out what the favorite shows and games of the Sonic characters were.
08:11Because they feel more real and relatable.
08:13And doing that requires product placement.
08:17But nobody got mad about learning that Shadow's favorite anime is a real one in a Twitter takeover.
08:23So taking issue with Lay's chips here is hypocrisy.
08:27People just whine about it ruining their immersion.
08:30Even if the characters are supposed to be portrayed as living in a world like ours anyways.
08:36I find it immersion breaking when the writers use obvious knockoff names to reference what they really wanted to use.
08:43But that just reminds me that copyright law exists.
08:47Because it forced the writer not to make his artistic vision the way he wanted.
08:52When you make me think about why his story turned out how it did.
08:55The immersion gets broken.
08:57And that's how I feel after plot holes.
08:59People that don't have any standards for writing talk like criticizing stuff that isn't major makes you a bad person.
09:06But product placement isn't even a minor problem.
09:10It isn't a problem.
09:12At least not as long as it isn't done a massive amount of times in a row I guess.
09:17There would still be just an opinion.
09:19And that wouldn't make you a bad person.
09:21If everyone has a right to their opinions that's not an exception.
09:25So they still have a right to mention it in their videos.
09:29I just find it annoying because they can't relate.
09:32And it's not like everyone specifies that's not actually a problem before complaining.
09:37It's just something people whine about because they personally don't like it for no good reason.
09:43And that's what the word nitpicking should be used for.
09:46Not minor problems that still hurt the story.
09:50Either way it's obvious what the meta logic is behind the decision.
09:54Whether it's a real product in there or a fake one.
09:56And this is less immersion breaking than calling them Slay's chips.
10:00My point is I'd rather it be called McDonald's than Schmickdonald's.
10:04I wouldn't have even talked about the product placement if I didn't hear people whining about it like it was
10:09a really big deal.
10:11Good thing there wasn't a big outcry about the swears.
10:15Because they were humans I didn't think anything of it.
10:19So this has to be why there wasn't a big enough moral outcry from this that I heard about it.
10:26Despite the bitching about the swears in Chow the Hedgehog.
10:30After some padding.
10:33During which I'm somehow supposed to believe that one of the bad guys thought he would be able to give
10:38up on kidnapping Knuckles for the evil leader of a criminal organization.
10:43And Knuckles pointlessly says he's been betrayed a lot.
10:47Which makes it even more forced that he trusted Eggman.
10:51And that would make a better story than everything that's going on in the show.
10:55I at least finally get to see Knuckles enjoy some music.
11:01Wade not only enjoying the song but also smacking his wheel makes him look like a dork in a way
11:06that's actually a little endearing.
11:09I'm still bothered the whole time about the fact that I shouldn't be looking at real life humans in a
11:15Sonic story.
11:16But surprisingly I don't hate Wade.
11:20Maybe I've seen other characters like him in the cartoons I grew up with so I'm already used to him.
11:25One of the main characters of Nets Declassified was a dork.
11:30So maybe I'm being reminded of him.
11:33Wade finds out he's a fugitive with a bounty on his head.
11:37It's a little tiring because Tom already went through that.
11:41And it's always something you feel pretty sorry for the main character for.
11:45And that causes Knuckles to smash the only source of music that could cause him to lighten up.
11:51So it went from trying to make me sympathize with Knuckles because he felt bad for Wade for getting betrayed.
11:57To make him a completely unlikable moron again.
12:01Knuckles can't pay him for the radio.
12:04He can't make it up to him.
12:06He says it's time for him to visit someone he hasn't seen in a long time.
12:11And he talks to his mom.
12:13Why does she faint?
12:16Everyone already knows about aliens by now.
12:20That would have been worldwide news.
12:23There are too many witnesses for everyone to doubt all of the eyewitness testimony about Sonic.
12:30I guess she doesn't watch the news or pay any attention to social media.
12:34Never mind.
12:35I guess this makes sense then.
12:37This episode by John Whittington was about Wade rescuing Knuckles by spraying someone in the eyes and sending a flying
12:45glove that never would have been left behind to free him from his cage.
12:50With a lot of worthless padding in between everything.
12:53But there were a couple of impressively charming moments in the episode to be fair.
12:59But they're just minor.
13:00Not major things about how the plot is.
13:04What's good about the episode that really matters is that it was less boring than last time.
13:09And didn't have a ridiculously forced beginning.
13:13And having Wade need to improvise a plan because his initial idea failed puts more creativity in the story.
13:20Still, it's not like it's the first time Knuckles ever got kidnapped and needed rescuing.
