00:00But my goodness, we got a good game. You can watch on Saturday at 4 p.m. It's Georgia. It's Alabama. It's Atlanta, Georgia. It's the SEC championship. And look at this line. Georgia minus two and a half. Alabama getting the two and a half. 47 and a half as a total. We're led to believe that you can't leave anybody out of this game, Joe.
00:21So the fact of the matter is for the spread line, what is it going to be? A big Georgia win? Keeps Alabama out? Alabama keeps it close? Alabama wins here? There's so much to get to, Joe. What's your spread line on this game with Georgia and Alabama?
00:35Well, if you think because the game is on a neutral side in Atlanta and somehow that's going to favor Georgia, I would hold your horses there because we already know that Alabama and their fan base, they travel very well.
00:50And they have been here and done this before in this game. But you got to look at the first game, Donnie, which seems like a million years ago.
00:57It was September 27th. September 27th is when Alabama won 24-21 in that meeting. And I believe two and a half was the line then. We saw this line open up Georgia a point and a half. Now it's up to two and a half.
01:13The total still hovering around that 47 and a half, 48 mark. But it felt like Alabama was better early in that game. Georgia was better pretty much the rest of the way in there, but just fell a little bit short.
01:28So, yeah, it feels like the market thinks this is a coin flip game. It certainly appears to be a coin flip game. It is very difficult, Donnie, as we know, especially when you're talking about SEC teams, to beat a team twice in the same season, especially because the teams that met on the 27th of September are not the teams that are meeting here on Saturday.
01:51And here's the thing I always caution about these type of games, Joe. Yes, we're human beings here. But if you think for one minute that Georgia's like, you know what? We're already in. Let's just see what happens this weekend.
02:03They want to beat Bama like nobody's business here for recruiting, for rights, for SEC championship games. You cannot look at this like Alabama needs it more because if they lose, they might be out. Nonsense.
02:15These two teams are going to war on Saturday. Be a lot of fun to watch you play out. Two teams that are playing this Saturday in the ACC, which I think the ACC even admits that we made a mistake. Duke and Virginia for the ACC championship here.
02:28The favorite is Virginia at minus three and a half. The total is 57 and a half. Manny Diaz is already saying, hey, you know what, guys? We win this. We should be in. Joe, your spread line for a low key ACC championship game.
02:40All right. Well, unfortunately, Donnie, one of these two teams will probably be in the college football playoff as it's just it's kind of head scratching here.
02:51But, yes, the Blue Devils, seven and five on the season. You know, there were, I believe, Donnie, heading into week 14, five teams ranked in the top 25 there from the ACC, and only one of them is now playing in the conference title game.
03:06Does that tell you exactly how screwed up the ACC is? Listen, Virginia dominated at Duke and beat Duke the first go around 34 to 17. That was just a few weeks ago.
03:18It was a 31 to three game entering the fourth quarter as well. They out gained Duke by nearly 300 yards. You got to be kidding me.
03:27And now this game opened up Virginia, two and a half. And that, well, that's long gone, Donnie, like you said, because now the hook is very much alive and well, three and a halves across the board.
03:38The total is starting to creep up a little bit as well. I expect more over money to come in throughout the week, because if it's one thing Duke does well with Darian Menza is they can score.
03:49But so can Virginia. Now that Morris is healthy, I only see Virginia money coming in at this particular point.
03:57It wouldn't shock me if three and a half, maybe even four is what you're going to get by kickoff.
04:02And how convoluted those tiebreakers are when it used to just like, oh, there's a couple teams with the same, you know, record.
04:08Do they play head to head? No, more of a round robin. OK, highest rated team in the polls gets the tiebreaking advantage.
04:13Somehow not in the ACC, which is incredible to actually think about that. Big 10 championship game, Indiana, Ohio State, 8 p.m. Saturday night.
04:22This opening line, Joe, a little bit higher, five and a half. We're dipping now to four and halves and fours in the marketplaces here.
04:28So maybe some Indiana money coming in. A total listed at 47 and a half. We're in a dome. This should be fun.
04:34Keep in mind, again, both of these teams will be going to the college football playoff regardless of winner losses.
04:38Bragging rights on the line, Joe. What's your spread line here?
04:41Well, you know, Ohio State, maybe a little momentum heading into this one in Indianapolis, right?
04:48Because, you know, they didn't get to the Big 10 championship game last year.
04:53Not that it mattered because they ended up running the table and winning the national championship.
04:57But they absolutely manhandled Michigan to join Indiana in this game.
05:03And it feels like, well, you know, some of the market loves the Hoosiers and believes that they learned a lot from a year ago, Donnie.
05:12But we saw this open up at five and a half.
05:15And that's the prevailing thought in the market right now because it is four and a half right now.
05:21So we are starting to see a lot of Indiana love in the market.
05:24Listen, the public has not gotten involved yet in this game, Donnie.
05:28I would imagine when we talk about this game tomorrow and Friday and we start looking at the line,
05:35we're going to start seeing a lot of that Ohio State money here, which may push it back up to five, five and a half.
05:41But right now, the market loves themselves some Indiana Hoosiers here to get it done.
05:47This is going to be an interesting game.
05:50What do both of these teams really do?
05:53They lay it all out, Donnie.
05:54I can't wait to see.
05:55All right, we might need the rest of the hour and a half of this program, Joe, to go over the important information.
06:01That's the college football playoff show.
06:03I can't stand this show.
06:04I didn't watch or pay attention one second in the past couple weeks.
06:08But now we get down to where it actually makes sense.
06:10And before championship week, you want to see teams jockeying for position.
06:14And the committee last night, from painting themselves into a corner for weeks prior,
06:19I think you're giving themselves a little bit of breathing room.
06:21If we look at the college football playoff rankings from last night, again, top 10, Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.
06:31They are in.
06:32The question marks now start at 9, 10, 11, and 12.
06:36That's Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU, and Miami.
06:40The only move of interest yesterday was, where was Miami going to go if they're pulverizing a ranked team on the road?
06:47Would they move up?
06:49They didn't.
06:50However, Alabama, struggling with a poor Auburn team who needed a late drive to win that football game,
06:58was rewarded from the 10th seed into the 9th seed currently now in the rankings, dropping Notre Dame to 10.
07:05But also the opposite side of the coin there is Notre Dame going to back to 10, which means if BYU loses, they will drop.
07:14Miami will move up and Notre Dame, which would have Notre Dame and Miami side by side.
07:21An absolute nightmare scenario that now the committee is saying, now we have an out.
07:27Because if they're side by side, they can go, well, what did you want us to do?
07:31We never thought they would be side by side.
07:33Now the only advantage is, they played on the football field.
07:37We must put Miami over Notre Dame.
07:39Or, Joe, are there other hijinks out there that you're seeing?
07:44Well, it's funny what they did here.
07:47And maybe more than anything else, Donnie, last night was a great lesson in exit strategy.
07:52And that is exactly what the committee gave themselves last night, is a absolute exit strategy, depending.
08:02And because we know, you know, this character, Yannick, who doesn't feel like he has any idea what's going on, though.
08:10It's hysterical.
08:10And yet, somehow, he's the, what, the AD in Arkansas?
08:15They pushed him on the issue with Miami and Notre Dame.
08:19And his answer was, there has been no stronger debate.
08:23Not between Notre Dame and Miami, but Notre Dame and Alabama.
08:27He said it was one of the fiercest debates for the last three weeks.
08:30And he said it has really split the committee room.
08:33So that tells me that whoever was on the side of Alabama, well, they won, Donnie.
08:40They won.
08:41And the other side is giving Miami a chance to push Notre Dame out if only one thing happens.
08:47And that thing that happened is BYU has to lose.
08:50And then that's the only way you can get Miami and Notre Dame side by side and then have to pick it.
08:55He did say in that show last night that nothing is set in stone for teams that are not playing this week.
09:03So there is a lot.
09:05Everything is going to be reseeded and reshuffled depending on the results of the conference championships.
09:11If BYU wins, then you got two Big 12 teams in there.
09:16But if they lose, then the committee gave themselves an exit strategy to then use the head-to-head and put Miami in.
09:22Now, also understand this, because the top eight is secured at this point.
09:28Oklahoma's going to be in.
09:29We get that.
09:29A&M's going to be in.
09:30Forget about that.
09:32Alabama.
09:32Now, granted, Joe, the last two weeks, we didn't get that mild upset, right?
09:35Like, oh, Donnie, well, Texas ended up beating A&M.
09:38We knew that wasn't going to impact only seeding, right?
09:40A&M was still going to be in.
09:41And Texas, with three losses, probably wouldn't be included into the situation.
09:45But I don't understand this.
09:47Like, on a theory where, like, yes, you're playing an extra game.
09:50But that's what you have to play for.
09:51You play two-win in.
09:53And we're always taught that, oh, that loss late in the season is going to hurt.
09:57Alabama, if they play Georgia, let's call the final score, Joe, 27-20 Georgia,
10:02which would drop Alabama to a third loss on the season,
10:06and one of those losses to a horrendous Florida State football team by double digits.
10:12How can Alabama stay in there?
10:15And, again, you can't take this.
10:16You play the games.
10:17Otherwise, you know what they should do, Joe?
10:19Alabama goes, you know what?
10:21We made the SEC championship game.
10:23For the betterment of our team this season, we are pulling out of that game.
10:26We will not play.
10:27We'll stay at the nine spot.
10:28We'll let somebody else get in there and play as opposed to us.
10:32We'll put A&M in there.
10:33So now we automatically make it.
10:35But no, no, no.
10:36You're playing this game, Joe.
10:37That game matters on the field.
10:39A three-loss Alabama team with a loss to Florida State and a loss in their final game of the season?
10:45No way, shape, or form.
10:46I don't care what the committee is telling us.
10:48You can't do that.
10:49Otherwise, make it a 60-14 field or put everybody in here because that is ridiculous.
10:55What they did by pushing Bama to nine and Notre Dame back to 10 is they kind of shielded Alabama in case, Donnie, because there is precedent to this, don't forget.
11:09New committee, new people.
11:11But last year, that committee, don't forget, did not hold a conference championship loss for SMU who lost to Clemson on a walk-off field goal last year.
11:23They didn't penalize SMU and keep them out of the playoff because they lost and played an extra game.
11:28So I think a lot of this, what they did, if Alabama loses by less than a touchdown, they've secured Alabama in even as a three-loss team.
11:38If Bama gets blown out by double digits or more, Donnie, that's when it becomes very interesting where then anything is up for grabs.
11:46But right now, by moving them to nine, all they're saying is don't get blown out.
11:51Just don't get blown out and you're in the playoffs.
11:55It's unbelievable.
11:56It's just nothing makes sense for what they say.
11:59And by the way, they're making up these rules as they go.
12:01We might show up to that next, you know, I think it's Sunday, probably 12 o'clock when they release the final college football playoff rankings.
12:08They can make up whatever they want.
12:10If they wanted to, they could, Ohio State, Indiana, it was a close game there.
12:13They'll stay one and two.
12:14Like, wait a second, they lost.
12:15If Georgia wins, why wouldn't they move up?
12:17Oh, well, we didn't want to penalize two undefeated teams at this point and we'll keep it in the same realm.
12:22I'm interested to see what they see on Sunday because everybody knows what actually should happen.
12:27Now, granted, again, as I say, Joe, we didn't get any mild upset.
12:30So theoretically, we're probably supposed to get a Georgia victory and we're supposed to get a Texas Tech victory,
12:36which is actually exactly, Joe, what the committee does want.
12:39Because other than Alabama winning, which, whoo, okay, we can keep Alabama in at all.
12:43And who knows if Notre Dame or Miami gets in.
12:45Their doomsday scenario is it plays out where the favorites win.
12:49Then they have to make a decision and explain why Notre Dame is out, but Alabama is in, even though Alabama just lost their last game.
12:56It's crazy work how it is.
12:57But, Joe, if we look at that championship picture and the odds, you see Ohio State plus 185, Indiana plus 360, Georgia plus 750, ND 10 to 1, and that price point.
13:08Is it still Ohio State by a wide margin for you entering into this Big Ten championship game and then the playoff?
13:15Well, yes.
13:18The problem here, Donnie, is that Ohio State has done nothing to lead any of us to believe that they aren't the best team in the country at all.
13:27Now, their biggest test is about to come.
13:30Michigan wasn't a big test.
13:31I mean, that's tough.
13:32A lot of mental things to get over to go into the big house and get the win.
13:37But from a talent perspective, Ohio State has always been better this year than Michigan.
13:41We're going to see here with Indiana real quick on Sunday.
13:45But if they win that game, Donnie, and they win it convincingly against Indiana, they're going to be an even money favorite to win it all.
13:53You realize that, right?
13:54It's going to be – it's going to be – it's like Scotty Scheffler in a tournament.
13:58Like, oh, I can't bet him.
13:59Like, you've got to be kidding me.
14:01It's like – and that's what you're looking at right now here.
14:04But the real doomsday scenario here is if Duke wins, because if Duke wins and beats Virginia, then you are possibly, worst-case scenario, looking at not only James Madison, but also either North Texas or Tulane in, which means there's a whole lot of bluebloods that are going to be on the outside looking in because of the committee's stupid rules they implemented last year.
14:29It is, and credit Indiana because they did it the right way.
14:33They won all of their football games so far.
14:35But also, we talk about all of their football games.
14:36And technically, it's not their fault that the Big Ten stunk.
14:39But, Joe, they played one team all year, Oregon.
14:40They didn't play another solid football team.
14:43And they needed the miracle toe-touch of all toe-touches to beat a horrendous Penn State football team that already fired their head coach.
14:50So we'll see what they're made out of this week going up against Ohio State.
14:53But you look at all these schedules.
14:54They're not made the same.
14:55You tell me right now if Indiana had to play Ohio State in the regular season, Oregon in the regular season, and who knows else, maybe they scheduled at a conference a team like Texas.
15:03We wouldn't be talking about it.
15:05So in the future that we talk about now, which Alabama's doing, play the easiest schedule you have.
15:10Why?
15:10Because the only thing that matters is wins.
15:12Not who you play.
15:13It doesn't matter anymore.
15:14Load up Old Dominion all over that place.
