00:00Trading deadline, your Yankees.
00:02Active, not active, a little bit.
00:05Tell me where you think New York goes.
00:07The problem with the Yankees is there aren't a lot of bats out there.
00:11All right, there's a lot of pitching out there,
00:12and the Yankees don't really need pitching, starting pitching.
00:15They can use bullpen help, sure.
00:16Also, the prices are nuts.
00:18Now, of course, it's July, what's it, August 1st now.
00:21The deadline's not until the 3rd.
00:22It's not the 31st, obviously it wasn't yesterday.
00:24So we've got a couple more days here, but the prices are nuts.
00:27I mean, the Tigers for Scoogle, pretty much your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, your house,
00:31maybe your wife and your girlfriend on the side, too.
00:33They want everything for Scoogle.
00:34All right, that price will come down by 4 o'clock Monday.
00:37Same thing with the other players here.
00:39Will the Yankees be involved?
00:40Sure.
00:41I think they'll make some moves here.
00:42Do I think it's going to be any page turners?
00:45No.
00:46It's just not out there.
00:48And by the way, the Yankees also have to worry about this.
00:49Let's just say for giggles here, they get a good bat, a good outfielder.
00:54What happens when Judge comes back, when Bellinger comes back?
00:57You've got too many players now for too few spots,
00:59so it sort of defeats the purpose anyway here.
01:02The Yankees are in a lot of trouble here.
01:03They didn't build the roster correctly.
01:04Not that anyone's going to be able to survive all the injuries here.
01:06They have the pitching.
01:07We've seen it this week.
01:08The Yankees starting pitching is giving up one run of the last three games.
01:12Yet, Dan, they are 1-2, as they've scored now four runs,
01:16and I think the last 30 innings they can't hit,
01:18and I don't think the trading deadline can solve that problem.
01:21I think this would be a massive problem for New York,
01:24and maybe even Boston, who's now in it as well when it comes to wild card.
01:29You know, Eric Neander, the general manager of the Rays,
01:31is talking about a rental with Schuble.
01:34You put him in that pitching staff, that East is over.
01:38You end up getting him in there.
01:40Would you agree that, I mean, it looks like brand-new ownership now.
01:44This is not Stu Sternberg.
01:46This is a different owner now.
01:48Looks like they're doing some things differently down there now,
01:51wanting to be proactive, and they're going to be –
01:53Bob Nightingale was on with us a couple minutes ago,
01:56and he was saying he thinks they're going to be very active.
01:59That's a different Rays organization if they're going to be active
02:01on the trading deadline.
02:03I would agree.
02:04People have to remember – some people laugh,
02:06oh, the Rays aren't going to get him.
02:08The Rays, for what we've heard,
02:10pretty much we're in second place to get Otani back in the day.
02:13That's right.
02:13All right, when the Rays – they were serious about getting him,
02:16and the Angels held them back.
02:17Huge mistake by the Angels, but that's a story for another day here.
02:20So, yeah, I think the Rays would go for it.
02:21I think they'd like to win.
02:23Yeah, they know they're not going to pay Schuble $400 million next year,
02:26no doubt about that.
02:27But I think they're going to be in here to get him for this year.
02:29All right, so as a Yankee fan, do I want to see him go there?
02:32Of course not.
02:33I don't want to see him in the American League.
02:34I don't want him going to Boston.
02:36I don't want him going to Seattle.
02:36I don't want him going to the White Sox.
02:39Go to the Dodgers.
02:39I don't care.
02:40But, yeah, I think Tampa Bay would be a huge problem if he does end up there.
02:43And, listen, they just put McClanahan on the I.L., right?
02:46Not simply a long-term thing to the couple of starts he'll miss here.
02:49But that could be another reason for them to push,
02:51as they know they're starting pitching really good,
02:53but also it's going to have some question marks going in, Dr. Over.
02:56Man, especially when you look at the American League this year, too, George.
03:00I mean, it's been mediocre baseball.
03:03And you've got everybody, get this, within four ballgames of a playoff spot,
03:08whether it's a wild card or whether it's a division title now in the American League.
03:12And you're like, how proactive are teams going to be right now
03:17when you're still in this thing?
03:18Especially, again, you're looking at teams like the Red Sox here.
03:22And you're looking at teams like the Red Sox.
