00:00So I bring you today's slate, Joe, 12 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 3.30.
00:06An absolute smorgasbord of games with some big-name teams in here.
00:11And then they're like, hey, leave the game alone at night and give us a four-hour window for a 7.30 start for Miami and Ohio State.
00:17So the people out there saying, ball games are awesome and they mean something.
00:20The networks are telling you they mean nothing.
00:22They put them all into one window and said, leave the actual real game alone, which brings us to Arizona State and Duke.
00:28They'll play today.
00:302 o'clock kickoff opening line, Joe, around 1.5 as a favorite towards Duke.
00:33That's actually growing to over a field goal now, minus 3.5, and a total of 47.5.
00:39Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
00:42What's that spread line today, Joe?
00:44Yeah, Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl here.
00:46Going to be interesting.
00:47Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham, one of the best young coaches in college football.
00:54He's going to have to do it with a whole lot of guys that didn't play a whole lot of football for Arizona State this year because they've lost just about everybody worth of anything on both sides of the ball, including their starting quarterback, Sam Levitt, who has moved on.
01:11But they do have a 40-year-old Jeff Sims, who feels like he's been playing college football for the last 10 years.
01:18But he is understanding.
01:19Now, he did have to fill in a couple of games there at the end of the season for Sam Levitt.
01:24But the reality is, Manny Diaz and Duke, they have a big chip on their shoulder.
01:30They're still a little bent that they're ACC champions, and they didn't get into the college football playoff.
01:36And not to mention, they're bringing back the highest paid and maybe one of the best quarterbacks we're going to have in college football again next year in Darian Menza.
01:45Why do I know that?
01:46Because he's committed to come back to Duke, not only playing this game, but come back to Duke one more year.
01:51So, this is all about who is playing and who's not playing.
01:56And Duke, Duke's got a lot more familiar faces that are going to be playing this game than Arizona State,
02:02which is why we're starting to see three and a halves now across the board popping up.
02:06The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic tonight.
02:09The University of Miami taking on the Ohio State 7.30 p.m. tonight.
02:14You can get in for a song and a dance at that price point, Joe.
02:16And also, real quick on this, too.
02:18The Bowl series that they have now.
02:20So, you're telling the Ohio State fans, they're really excited, they're a passionate fan base.
02:23They've got to pay to go on the road to Indianapolis for a Big Ten championship game.
02:27Then they have to pay to go on the road to see their team in the Cotton Bowl.
02:30Then if they advance, it's another bowl game where they have to pay on a neutral site.
02:33If they advance there, there's another game and another playing ticket to play in the national championship game.
02:38Ohio State fans, save your money, people.
02:41Are you going to this game, that game, the other game, the championship game?
02:43Or maybe you saved up and they don't even make that game.
02:46Miami's getting nine and a half points tonight, Joe, and a total 41 and a half to 40 and a half at some outlets here.
02:52What's your spread line tonight?
02:53Playoff style.
02:55This is shocking because this line has not moved, Dottie.
02:59I thought for sure one way or the other.
03:02Now, it may still move before kickoff tonight at 7.30.
03:07But I can only see it moving in Miami's direction.
03:10Listen, Ohio State has been here and done this.
03:12Miami hasn't been to this point in a very, very long time.
03:15Doesn't mean they don't have a ton of money in the marketplace that might be sitting on the sidelines.
03:21But nine and a half with a total this low, Dottie, is head scratching.
03:25Somebody is wrong here.
03:27Either the books are completely missed it on Miami in this game, or this game is going to go flying over this total here, Dottie.
03:36The amount of offensive talent just in the wide receiver positions on both of these teams is crazy.
03:43Not to mention, it's not like Carson Beck hasn't played in a big game before.
03:48Julian's saying not so much.
03:50He's a freshman, Dottie.
03:52This is his first rodeo.
03:54So, I think all the value, and it wouldn't shock me if this total starts to rise, yes, they had good defenses.
04:01Both of these teams did.
04:03But can we honestly say they played against an offense as lethal as Miami has?
04:10I think the total is way too low.
04:12Forget about the side.
04:13I think the total is way too low.
04:15I think they can fly over this total tonight.
04:18It does.
04:19Like, it seems like they're setting up on both sides.
04:21You have to take Miami at nine and a half, and you have to take the over in this football game.
04:25You're right about that because we're not dealing with, hey, hey, Joe, rain and 35-mile-an-hour winds.
04:30You're in a dome, man.
04:31Like, the perfect conditions to air it out to elite talent.
04:34We'll see how that one plays out tonight.
04:35Keep moving on.
04:36The SRS Distribution Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl.
04:40It's a mouthful right there.
04:41Take a look at Nebraska and Utah.
04:4313-and-a-half as a favorite for Utah at the opening numbers.
04:46We're now through that line to 14-and-a-half at most outlets, Joe, and a total of 51-and-a-half.
04:52Nebraska, Utah, coaches, no coaches, quarterbacks.
04:56Who's playing in this game?
04:57Give me a spread line.
04:59Well, a lot of, again, we all know Coach Winningham, right, was stepping down because Morgan Scaly has been the coach in waiting forever at Utah.
05:09One of the big reasons he agreed Winningham to step down is because he didn't want to hold off this guy taking the job any longer.
05:16He's been with him forever.
05:17Almost the entire coaching staff is the same except Winningham, but he is going to this game, by the way, so that's going to be interesting as well.
05:26But the Cornhuskers have nobody left.
05:29Everybody who's anybody, including their quarterback, who was hurt, Dylan Raiola, but he's already transferring out of there.
05:37So, there are a ton of new faces for Nebraska.
05:41This is nothing more than a spring practice for Nebraska to figure out who's going to be on the team next year.
05:47There is a reason why Utah is getting all the money and all the love in the marketplace.
05:52We know who's playing for them.
05:54We have no idea who's playing for the Cornhuskers.
05:57Get a hangover tomorrow.
05:58Welcome to the Orange Bowl.
05:59Used to play at night on New Year's Day.
06:01Now we're going to play at 12 o'clock noon on New Year's Day.
06:03It's Oregon and Texas Tech.
06:05Let's see if this line gets through that minus three in a key number.
06:07But currently, Joe, minus two and two and a half in the marketplace for Oregon.
06:11And a total of 51 and a half.
06:13Your spread line, Oregon, Texas Tech at the Orange Bowl.
06:16The lowest price on the board in a playoff game, Donnie.
06:19It feels like a coin flip, but we are starting to see this morning a lot more Oregon money flood the marketplace.
06:27If you like Oregon, get it before it hits three because that's likely where it's heading.
06:32Ole Miss and Georgia here.
06:35Six and a half point line.
06:36That hasn't moved either, Joe, with a 55 and a half.
06:38How about that?
06:39Two SEC teams down in the bayou.
06:41What gives here?
06:41What's your spread line?
06:43And I don't see it getting to seven, Donnie.
06:45I think it's going to stay right here.
06:46My question is, could this be the highest scoring game of all the playoff games?
06:52Feels like it might be.
06:54It's bowl season.
06:54It's New Year's Eve.
06:55You've got four games on before we get to the playoff game tonight.
06:59A game at 12, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 3.30.
07:02The first game, if you want to take a nap, you could probably do that because Iowa wants to put on a punting clinic today.
07:07Iowa's going to take on Vanderbilt.
07:08Vandy's actually a favorite in this game of minus five and a half and a total of 45 and a half.
07:13Dago Pavia, does he score a touchdown today?
07:16Flip the bird to the crowd and do a Heisman pose at the same time?
07:20We'll find out, Joe.
07:2112 o'clock start.
07:22Give me an idea of what you expect here from Iowa and Vandy.
07:25This line has been all over the map, Donnie, all week long here because we've seen initial Vanderbilt money come in and get this thing up to about five and a half where it is, even six.
07:39Then we saw nothing but Iowa money come in, and this thing shot all the way back down to about three and a half, four.
07:46And now over the last 24 hours, Donnie, we see nothing but Vanderbilt money come back in and push it back up to five and a half.
07:54The reality of this is styles make fights, right?
07:58Diego Pavia is playing in this game for Vandy.
08:02And the entire Iowa team also, both sides of the ball, all the playmakers, the offensive line.
08:08This is going to be physicality on the Iowa side, taking on an SEC team that thinks because they're from the SEC, they should have no problem winning this game.
08:20But I think Gronowski, the quarterback of Iowa, that offense got better as the season progressed, Donnie.
08:27I think this game comes down to a field goal.
08:29So the fact that you can get five and a half, the physicality, the special teams advantage, all in favor of Iowa in this one.
08:37Iowa Super Bowl is going to be played at noon today.
08:40We'll see if you tune into the ReliaQuest Bowl, which is what that's called.
08:44Now we'll move it down to a 2 o'clock game Eastern that's going to start between Arizona State and Duke in UTEP.
08:49Texas, El Paso, the Sun Bowl, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, by the way.
08:53Three and a half point favorite for the Duke Blue Devils.
08:55You talked about Mensah quarterback playing in this game and coming back next year.
08:59Arizona State quarterback's like, you know what?
09:01I think I'll go in the portal at this point.
09:0347 and a half is the total as well.
09:04Duke ASU.
09:07Yeah, and again, I think this comes down to quarterbacks here and Dukes, Darian Menza playing in this game.
09:15And I think outside of a couple of opt-outs on the defensive side of the ball for Duke, they will have all of his offensive weapons that he had during the season.
09:25And we know, listen, Duke did a great job of shooting themselves in the foot a lot of times this year.
09:30Manny Diaz is a defensive coach whose defense wasn't all that great this year.
09:36But the offense can drop 40 on anyone.
09:39If you're backing Arizona State, you're thinking Jeff Sims, you know, I think it's his sixth year now, fifth or sixth year.
09:46He's played with everybody.
09:47You're thinking this is the guy that is going to step in for Arizona State, who's lost four starters, prime starters, including the number one wide receiver in college football and his quarterback aren't playing.
10:00I mean, it's just too much defection.
10:02I think no matter how good a coach Dillingham is, I'm having a hard time thinking that a, you know, chip on their shoulder, ACC champion.
10:11Well, if they lose this game, Donnie, they don't have a leg to stand on about anything.
10:15So I do think that you're going to get a huge effort from Duke here.
10:18Look at that.
10:19You got games today.
10:20And also, like, I've watched all of the playoff games so far.
10:23I will watch the playoff game tonight.
10:24I will watch all three of the playoff games tomorrow, Joe.
10:27But, you know, sometimes you protest.
10:28You go on a hunger strike.
10:29Well, I mean, not a hunger strike.
10:31I only eat once a day.
10:32So it's not really a hunger strike.
10:33But I have gone on record at saying I will not be watching any of the bowl games, Joe.
10:38I'm almost there.
10:39I've held strong this entire way.
10:40You got four games, 12, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 3.30.
10:43I will not watch any of these games, which means that's why we have Joe Raniere here
10:48to tell you exactly what's going to take place in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, Michigan, and Texas.
10:53Many thought maybe we'd have two teams like these two teams playing in the college football playoff,
10:57but we don't.
10:57But Arch Manning, he's there, and he's taking a pay cut to come back next year.
11:02Michigan's got a new coach, Joe.
11:04Seven and a half is a favorite towards Texas.
11:06What do we got here?
11:07Well, there's a ton of change, obviously, on Michigan's side of the ball.
11:14Ton of distractions.
11:16The former OC no longer there.
11:19He's already moved on to Missouri, right?
11:21There's not a lot of continuity here at all on the Michigan side of the ball.
11:26Doesn't mean this game won't be competitive, but Arch Manning is playing.
11:30Texas, and a lot outside of a couple of wide receivers, I believe one of their running backs,
11:36but it's Texas.
11:37You know, much like USC, Donnie, you know, they've got guys in waiting.
11:41The depth on a team like Texas in the skill position, they've got it in.
11:47They got a ton of these guys here.
11:49So as long as Arch Manning's there, I think Texas has got a pretty good opportunity here
11:54to be able to get it done.
11:56And the market thinks so, as well, as this is hovering around a touchdown.
12:00It was five and a half to open.
12:02It's still hovering around a touchdown.
12:04And we all know how much the market loves Texas, especially as a favorite.
12:10The Vegas Bowl, Nebraska and Utah here.
12:13Two touchdown plus favorite for the Utah Utes here going up against the Cornhuskers.
12:18And a total of 51 and a half, Joe.
12:213.30 start today.
12:22The SRS distribution.
12:24Las Vegas Bowl to be correct.
12:26Listen, these bowl games, Donnie, it's all about the transfer portal, right?
12:31It's all about who is wearing the uniform and who is not.
12:35And does it resemble anything like what we saw during the year?
12:40Well, Utah will not have their three top linemen in this game because why?
12:47Well, they're going to the NFL draft.
12:48So that's not that shocking.
12:51But the coaching staff outside of Winningham is completely intact for this game.
12:55The Cornhuskers don't have Dylan Raioli.
12:58He's already transferring.
12:59They don't have their top running back.
13:02They don't have any of their receivers.
13:04Not that they had a lot of great ones to begin with.
13:06There is so much unknown with Nebraska, which is why you've seen this continue to climb towards Utah.
13:13More disciplined team.
13:14More stability.
13:15You've got to love what Utah brings to the table in this game.
13:18Four bowl games today and a playoff game.
13:21Then tomorrow we have the three playoff games, which is Oregon, Texas Tech, Alabama, Indiana, Ole Miss, and Georgia.
13:26And then, Joe, the final day of meaningless bowl games will be on January 2nd,
13:31where they give you four absolute ridiculous games, which we'll certainly go over those as well.
13:35But let me ask you this question, Joe.
13:36We see a lot of people popping up on social media yesterday where, like, bowl games are insignificant now.
13:41They're basically made for TV, and they do make the network's money, including ESPN.
13:44But if you're looking at any of the pictures, nobody goes to these games.
13:48Nobody cares in person.
13:49But it is still about profitability.
13:51Let me ask you this question, because now we're seeing in the past, when it was just okay,
13:55the Rose Bowl is the national championship game.
13:57Yes, teams and fan bases and the secondary market are going to explode,
14:00because that's an environment you want to be in.
14:03But now we're finding ourselves saying, like, the Orange Bowl might not be a sellout at this point.
14:06And if you want to go down the Jerry Road for Ohio State and Miami,
14:09two name-brand Blue Blood programs, you can get in for, like, $30.
14:12Are we getting closer and closer to, hey, you know what?
14:16The NFL does it right.
14:17All playoff games at the higher-seeded home team,
14:20and then you play one championship game at a destination,
14:23which everybody will pay to go for, and everybody will be happy with that.
14:26How far around the corner are we to set this stuff?
14:29The Cotton Bowl today.
14:30And by the way, coaches that used to be in the past, hey, I'm 9-6 in my bowl record.
14:35You can basically make the playoffs three years and make, hey, I won 10 bowl games in three years.
14:38Enough of this nonsense.
14:39Yeah, they won't do it, college football.
14:43They will maximize profits, bigger stadiums, bigger – they will never go that way.
14:50And by the way, it's not like – the NFL could see some change coming as well.
14:54Because, Donnie, you tell me, in what world should either Carolina, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore
15:02have a home game in the first game in the playoff?
15:06Tell me how they deserve when you've got 11-win wildcard teams sitting there in the NFL.
15:14I think change is coming there for sure.
15:17By the way, do you remember when the NFL kicked around like, oh, you know what would be really interesting?
15:20Let's float this out here and crowdsource.
15:22If we had the NFC and AFC championship games at a neutral site, which got bashed,
15:27because some of the best moments of my sporting life is going to NFC championship games at Lincoln Financial Field.
15:34I've been to a ton of them here.
15:35Like, you know, back in the heart-crushing days of 2002 where they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15:40with the wins in 2004 against Atlanta.
15:42Also, the Minnesota Vikings game where you had Nick Foles out there.
15:46Those are parties that are meant to be the Super Bowl for your city at that point here.
15:49It's amazing how they just want to take that out and make it into, like, a place that's not yours, not theirs,
15:55and I've got to pay for this, and then the Super Bowl next.
15:57Enough with some of these changes here.
15:58But I'm interested to see, Joe, because money drives everything.
16:01And if these games aren't going to sell it in the future, because, again, you're asking Ohio State fans,
16:04if they're the favorites to win it all, to go basically on four or five road trips just to see their team
16:10make it to the national championship.
16:12Enough of that nonsense.
16:13More hot topics on the way next.
16:14We absolutely love it.
16:16Bringing the new year in.
16:17By the way, we were telling you just a few weeks back, the Big Ten championship game,
16:20which we were looking forward to it, two unbeaten teams facing off to be Big Ten champions.
16:26But also, at the same time, the game really didn't matter.
16:29Sure, it mattered to the players on the teams and the fan bases that wanted to win the Big Ten championship game.
16:33But if it did actually matter, Joe, you had Indiana beat Ohio State.
16:38Hey, they settled it on the field.
16:39Neutral site.
16:40Indiana's the better team.
16:42Then you look at the odds to win the national championship, and you go,
16:44yeah, well, I just watched the number one team in the country now, Indiana, beat Ohio State.
16:48They're the favorites.
16:49No, they're not.
16:50I'm the Ohio State, 195, Indiana, plus 310.
16:53So, Joe, I go back to that Big Ten game.
16:55And I said, it didn't matter.
16:56Apparently, it didn't matter at all.
16:58One team lost.
16:59Like, yeah, but that game didn't matter because Ohio State's the better team.
17:02But wait, Ohio State just lost.
17:04Donnie, it doesn't matter.
17:05Ohio State's the better team.
17:07That's what they're telling us here in the odds market.
17:08And they're likely right, Donnie.
17:12I mean, that's not – I mean, don't freaking – people forget.
17:15They watched the – oh, Indiana won.
17:17Listen, Indiana won because the Ohio State kicker went absolutely brain dead on a chip
17:22shot field goal.
17:23That would have sent that game to overtime.
17:25You know, they are the defending champions, Donnie.
17:28And I always give credence to that, that you're a champ until somebody beats you.
17:34Now, in a meaningless game where they knew they were likely to meet again in the future,
17:40and I had mentioned this all week leading up to that Big Ten championship, do you really
17:45think Ryan Day's emptying the tank to beat Indiana in the Big Ten championship?
17:50Absolutely not.
17:52We will see.
17:53But I agree with the market.
17:54Ohio State is and should be the reigning champion and favorite to repeat.
17:59In the predictive markets here, you can also wager on reach the college football national
18:05championship game, which, no surprise, the favorite is who?
18:08Oh, it's the Ohio State, followed by Indiana, Georgia, Oregon, Texas Tech, Alabama, Miami,
18:13and Ole Miss there.
18:14Then at the bottom at 8%.
18:15For me, Joe, I always like to take a flyer.
18:18If I'm looking at two teams I think that can beat Indiana, let's just say, if they get
18:21by Alabama, that's one of those teams there that you're going to take a look at, whether
18:24it be Oregon and or Texas Tech, getting plus money on both sides.
18:27I think Oregon and or Texas Tech, the winner of that game, is going to make it into the
18:32college football final.
18:33So in that market, Donnie, can we just bet no on Indiana to win anything?
18:39We can, right?
18:41And is it favored towards the percentage higher for yes that Indiana wins and advances and
18:48wins everything?
18:49Or is there any value in fading them across the board here?
18:52Reaching the championship game for Indiana, if you bet the no, it's at 59 cents.
18:58Well, $100 investment would pay back $170.
19:01If you took the yes for Indiana with $100 investment, it's $233.
19:05So you can still make some decent money on a no, which means, again, Indiana's got to
19:09beat Alabama.
19:10Hey, they're favored to do so.
19:11Maybe they do.
19:12Then they still have to beat the winner of Texas Tech and Oregon before you even get to
19:16that championship game.
19:17So two good teams they're playing.
19:19Chances are they're probably going to lose one of those games.
19:20Yeah, I agree.
19:22And I think the value is probably what, who's the least likely to win it right now?
19:26Miami?
19:27Is that because they're the biggest underdog?
19:29They got Ole Miss, Joe.
19:31And this is just to make it to the championship game.
19:32Ole Miss is the lowest at 8%.
19:34So it's at, excuse me, 8%, but 9 cents is the number going off of $100 wager if you think
19:40Ole Miss.
19:40And this isn't even winning at all, Joe.
19:42Just getting to the championship game, pay you back.
19:44Yeah.
19:45$1,112 comes back to you.
19:47Wow.
19:48Yeah.
19:48That big money.
19:49Now that's value.
19:50You know, two SEC teams, right, with pretty much an, is there that much separating Georgia
19:57and Ole Miss?
19:58I mean, that's a huge percentage, a huge return there, Donnie, just to get to the championship
20:03game.
20:04Interesting.
20:04Exactly.
20:04Now, good markets out here that you can certainly take peace of.
20:07And also, the transfer portal, he's Kirby Smart.
20:09Hey, Coach of Georgia, talking about it.
20:11We're focused on, you know, prep and getting better.
20:14And for a while, it's been, like, intrinsically looking at ourself and asking each player,
20:19did you come here to develop?
20:20Did you truly come here to develop?
20:22Because if you did, all your buddies are out there right now.
20:25Everybody's, you know, announcing what they're doing.
20:27I'm announcing that I'm going in the portal.
20:29I'm announcing that I'm resigning.
20:31How about you announce that you're getting better?
20:33And you're going to practice and, like, actually do what the 20 and 30 years of college football
20:39players did before you.
20:40Because if you're going to play somewhere else, you know what you need to do?
20:42You need to get better.
20:43If you're going to play here, you know what you need to do?
20:45You need to get better.
20:47If you want to go to the National Football League and play, this is your last chance to
20:50get better.
20:51Because they're not going to give you much opportunity.
20:53They're going to cut you or keep you based on how you do.
20:55They don't begin to practice in pads, but so many days.
20:57So development occurs in December for us, and that's what we've been focused on.
21:03Portal's about to open up, Joe.
21:05Players are coming and going.
21:07I'm sure he has no idea who the guys he wants to come to, George.
21:11I'm sure he has no idea.
21:13He's just very focused on it.
21:15Yeah, I got you.
21:16No, I get it.
21:17Yeah, the portal is opening.
21:18Craziness is about to begin.
21:21And start, you know, take out the pad and pencil here, Donnie, and start taking some notes
21:27for next year, because the portal could be absolutely wild here in a couple days.
21:33By the way, like, you have to adapt and advance in college football.
21:36And Georgia's done a very good job.
21:37So many other teams as well.
21:38Like, Miami just cherry-picks good quarterbacks saying, come to us.
21:41We'll make you into a high draft pick, and we'll win along the way.
21:43But isn't it funny that the one team that was like, portal, we're not letting anybody
21:48go.
21:48Nobody's coming in here.
21:49It's Clemson.
21:50Clemson used to be fantastic.
21:52Win the ACC every year, make national championship runs, and win national championships.
21:55Like, boy, Clemson operates like an SEC program.
21:58And Dabble's like, we do it different here.
22:00Is it any surprise that Clemson stinks out loud because they don't anticipate and embrace
22:05the transfer portal?
22:06It's funny.
22:07Hey, adapt, advance, or die.
22:09That's the way it is.
22:09Miami to Ohio State.
22:11They're going to play tonight, Joe, 7.30 p.m.
22:12Some team and some fan base's team is going to be celebrating tonight the new year as they
22:17move on.
22:18Miami's getting nine and a half points and an ultra-low total of 41 and a half to 40 and
22:23a half, depending on what you're shopping at tonight.
22:26Two rivals dating back to a crazy game in 2002.
22:292002, they're going to re-up today.
22:31Miami and Florida and Ohio State, Joe, is that too many points?
22:35I, you know, it hasn't moved, Donnie.
22:38So, but if we, if we reverse this, given the total in this game, so you're telling me we're
22:44looking at what, a 30-17 game for Ohio State to blow Miami out here and cover this number
22:52by double digits, Donnie?
22:54I mean, how many points does Ohio State have to score?
22:57If this isn't going to be a 17-3 game, I just don't, I don't get it.
23:03It feels like you're telling us Ohio State's going to have to score 24 to 30 points in
23:08order to cover this game because you're not shutting down Miami's offense.
23:11It's not happening.
23:12Yeah, it's a great game to look at.
23:15And also, it feels like, again, we've talked about they're baiting you to take the nine
23:17and a half points.
23:18Alabama and Indiana, seems like they're baiting you as well.
23:2125% of the tickets are on Indiana, yet that line is now over seven and a half at most outlets
23:26here in a total of 47 and a half.
23:28How about that, Joe?
23:29Lines out here, people.
23:31The hook is available, Donnie.
23:33The hook.
23:34Crazy.
23:35We got Joe, we got Joe's take on Alabama-Indiana right after this short break.
23:39The Rose Bowl, which we're led to believe, Joe, in just a few short years, the Rose Bowl
23:43is probably going to move to SoFi, and then what's the point of the Rose Bowl?
23:46Like, we love the Rose Bowl because where the Rose Bowl is played here and the time of
23:49day it's played.
23:50So, you get the sun setting over the San Gabriel Mountains, as we like to say.
23:55Alabama's going to take on Indiana.
23:57Two teams, again, thousands of miles away from the Rose Bowl, where even the Rose Bowl isn't
24:01necessarily a super hot ticket, as we see.
24:04Seven and a half as a favor towards Indiana, Joe.
24:07Late ticket count on Indiana.
24:09Most people look at that line, just like the Miami line, and say, what?
24:13Too many points.
24:14Give me Alabama.
24:15Is that the right thought process in this game?
24:17Or is Indiana the better team?
24:18Or can Alabama once again pull an upset?
24:22Yeah, this is going to be interesting here because it's not like Kalen DeBoer has a bad
24:28track record in the postseason, Donnie.
24:31I mean, this is another guy that has been there, and he has done that.
24:36And Indiana has become this public darling now of sorts, right?
24:42Everybody has just stuck a fork in Alabama, and they're pretending like they don't have
24:49the athletes.
24:49They don't have the coaching.
24:51You know, there's no way they're going to stand toe-to-toe.
24:55Indiana?
24:56Like, is that really where we're at here?
24:58So, I mean, this could just go down as one of these games, Donnie, where once again, Heisman
25:04winner, quarterback on a team that everyone loves and falls woefully short of what the
25:11goal is.
25:12And everyone's going, oh, wow.
25:13Didn't I mean, how shocked would you be, Donnie?
25:15Alabama wins this game.
25:17How shocked?
25:18I wouldn't be.
25:20So, you want to give me over a touchdown?
25:22Yeah, I'll take over a touchdown with an SEC team that's been there and done that, with
25:26a proven coach, by the way, in the postseason, who usually pushes the right buttons and gets
25:32guys to play.
25:33So, love Signetti and love Indiana.
25:36But are we really crowning them after, what, two years?
25:39How about the Rose Bowl, Joe?
25:40Well, typically, again, the setting is what makes it so special, because it's a pretty
25:44cool environment that they play.
25:45I always say, like, if there's any championship venues, it always should be the Rose Bowl.
25:49But how about this, Joe?
25:50Rain expected all throughout the game for the Rose Bowl?
25:55How about that, Joe?
25:56Merking up the conditions here.
25:57Light wind speeds.
25:58It's never windy out there.
25:59But rain at 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, 5 o'clock, and then turns at the end of the game into mostly
26:04cloudy.
26:05Do we get that beautiful sunset that most people love to watch the Rose Bowl for, Joe?
26:09You might at times, Donnie.
26:11I mean, let's face it.
26:13There could be, every now and then, could be a little popping out.
26:16I don't know that it's going to be there for the entire game, but it does make it interesting
26:22at that point, when, if you're going to have a slippery track, let's see how that, you
26:26know, then it's going to come down to the trenches.
26:28Who's winning in the trenches, Donnie?
26:31Counting down the new year right here on the early line.
26:34Why?
26:34Because tomorrow will be 2026, and we say goodbye to 2025.
26:38A couple of hours left here for myself, Donnie Wright, and Joe Renier.
26:41By the way, do we have programming live on the network right up till midnight tonight?
26:47Do we have that?
26:47Is that you, Joe?
26:48Will you be doing that tonight?
26:50I will not be, Donnie.
26:52I will not be.
26:53But I do believe there is some sort of programming happening here a little bit later, especially
26:58right around 730 when the U is taking on OSU, Ohio State.
27:06Yeah, we're going to have some fun with that game, no doubt about it.
27:08In this time of the show, we talk all year long, Joe, since we're ending a year, but we
27:12always like to reach out to the people and see what's on their mind.
27:14At SportsGrid is our account, and here is our favorite poll.
27:18It's our favorite public poll.
27:19That's what our minds are on tonight.
27:30If you do follow SportsGrid, and we have the question for you today is, what is your best
27:34bet between number 10 Miami, number two Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl Classic tonight, 730
27:40p.m.
27:40Eastern, right here on New Year's Eve.
27:43The over, the under, Miami with the points, or Ohio State to cover the spread?
27:47For me, I actually took the under 41 and a half just as a sharp play, because I think
27:52it's a ridiculous number.
27:54Not that I said I'm betting on it here, but Miami to get nine and a half looks like a
27:57trap.
27:58It seems like they're sending traps all over the place today for us, man.
28:02Well, I'll tell you this, Donnie.
28:04If that's the case, if it's an, I'm taking the points.
28:08I'll tell you that right now.
28:09I'll take the nine and a half with Miami if that's going to be the situation we're in.
28:14So the lower the scoring, the more it favors, I think, Miami keeping this game within that
28:21number.
28:21The higher the scoring, the less chance I think Miami has of covering this game.
28:28So I think those two things are correlated with that poll in the public as well.
28:33You know what else people are getting scared of as well?
28:34Because sometimes, look, the numbers are the numbers.
28:36They don't just set numbers.
28:37They pull them out of a hat, as I like to say.
28:39But seeing Ohio State and Indiana low scoring, seeing Miami and Texas A&M low scoring, there
28:44are differences to that where, yes, like the Big Ten championship game, I thought it'd be
28:48a little bit more high scoring.
28:49It wasn't.
28:49But Miami A&M actually had some juice because nobody could make kicks and the wind was really
28:53having, you know, an effort on them.
28:55Tonight, we'll be in a dome in Miami with these teams extra time to prepare, particularly
28:59with Ohio State.
29:00We'll see how that factors in.
29:01But it should be a good game as the Twins, but 36.5%, Joe, are betting on Ohio State as
29:08the favorite here at minus nine and a half.
29:10What do you think about that?
29:12Well, again, I do think there is some correlation here.
29:16And I know there's a significant portion, Donnie, of the betting public that's going to look
29:22at this game and going, well, it's got to be nine and a half for a reason, right?
29:25Yeah.
29:26They got it.
29:26I mean, they are the champions, right?
29:29And Miami only scored 10 points against Texas A&M.
29:33So how and Texas A&M's defense is not Ohio State.
29:36So how are they going to score?
29:37Yada, yada, yada.
29:38Then you got the Mario Cristobal negativity.
29:41So it doesn't shock me that the public and people are all over Ohio State.
29:46But I'd be very careful with that.
29:51Yes, very, very careful with that.
29:53We'll see how it plays out tonight.
29:54But also, we got some best bets to get to fresh off of a sweep.
29:58Last night, can we do it again?
30:00Here's our bye-bye-bye.
30:08Take us down Victory Road, Joe.
30:10Once again, where are we headed tonight?
30:12Well, Donnie, I'm going to go to that game and I'm going to take a shot with the over.
30:18I'm seeing 40 and a halves right now lighting up the screen and being posted.
30:22But anything, as good as these two defenses are, good defenses means, and we've seen Carson
30:32back sometimes, not exactly great against some better defensive, especially against the pass.
30:40And listen, Julian's saying the two best defenses, especially defensive fronts he faced, were Texas
30:47and Indiana, they didn't score a ton of points there.
30:50But I do think what's going to happen, turnovers, Donnie, in this game are going to create short fields.
30:56And I don't think we need a ton in order to be able to get us to a, let's say, a 24 to 20 type of game,
31:06which is ultimately where I think this goes.
31:08And I think it's just too many weapons offensively to look at the under in this one.
31:13And I think I'm going to go out.
