00:00We like to go over some spread lines, some key information that you need to know for some of the biggest games of the week,
00:04even games that you might not even be knowing or playing.
00:07Say, well, Donnie, what are you talking about?
00:08We know, like, Georgia's going to play Alabama, and you're going to have a terrible ACC game,
00:12and all eyes are going to be focused on the Big Ten with Ohio State-Indiana.
00:15But how about this one, Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State?
00:18This game's going to be played Friday night, Joe, opened up around a 1.5-point spread,
00:22slightly moving higher to 2.5 as a favorite towards Kennesaw State.
00:26The total of this game is 59.5 across the board right now.
00:29Give us the spread line, Joe.
00:30Kennesaw and Jacksonville.
00:32Yeah, Conference USA, Donnie.
00:35And you know I have loved Kennesaw State this year in their second season as a member of the FBS,
00:43and now they're going to a conference championship game.
00:45Keep in mind, this team was 2-10 last season.
00:48Fire their coach, they get a new head coach, they get new guys in there,
00:52and now they're in the Conference USA championship.
00:55And the same thing with Jacksonville State, by the way.
00:57Don't forget, Rich Rod was their head coach a year ago, did a pretty good job with the program.
01:03Now he's at West Virginia.
01:05And these two teams played back on November 15th.
01:09Jacksonville State won 35-26, was woefully outgained.
01:15And the only reason they won is because Kennesaw State, through the four interceptions in the game,
01:20had a minus-four turnover.
01:21But that's not stopping the bettors here, Donnie, because Jacksonville State was the one-and-a-half-point favorite at the Open.
01:30Not anymore.
01:32It is now, like you said, Kennesaw State laying two, two-and-a-half.
01:36So early week action, Donnie.
01:38It has been all Kennesaw State money to get even in game number two in the conference championship.
01:45Well, let's get after it here in the Big 12, Joe.
01:4712 o'clock noon kickoff on Saturday.
01:50BYU and Texas Tech.
01:51This line opened up around 12-and-a-half.
01:53Now we're seeing 12-and-a-halves to 13-and-a-halves in the marketplace.
01:56In the total, Joe, listed at 50-and-a-half.
01:59A lot is on the line.
02:00I'm going to ask you some questions about college football and what that program today is going to deliver.
02:04But tell me the spread line and what we should watch out for for BYU and Texas Tech.
02:09Well, we just talked about one of them, Donnie, right?
02:12We talked about what is the coach for BYU doing?
02:15Is he going to be the next Penn State coach?
02:17Is it a distraction?
02:18Is there a deal done before this game kicks off?
02:21By the way, early kickoff in Jerry World there in Arlington with BYU and Texas Tech.
02:28Texas Tech destroyed him the first game, right?
02:30The first matchup, 29-7.
02:32They were almost a two-touchdown favorite, but that game was in Lovett.
02:36This is in a neutral setting here.
02:38I mean, listen, it's a four-hour drive from Arlington to Lubbock there.
02:43So this is going to be a very pro-Texas Tech crowd here.
02:47Heavy money.
02:48And why wouldn't it be, Donnie?
02:50I mean, BYU has been a great story, but Texas Tech is literally just running away with every game.
02:58I think the money is going to keep coming in on Texas Tech.
03:01They apparently are going to go scorched earth.
03:04And there's a lot of question marks now around this BYU team with who's coaching it.
03:09Revenge is wonderful, but the market doesn't seem to think BYU is going to get it.
03:14By the way, 8-14 segment, guys.
03:16Make sure you stick around.
03:17I know you guys love the show because we're going to get into some college football questions I need some answers to,
03:21which we won't get until tonight.
03:22But I certainly want Joe's opinion, and you'll get mine as well.
03:24Let's keep moving forward.
03:25Some action action, Joe.
03:27This Saturday noon kickoff.
03:29I believe this game still played in Detroit.
03:31Miami, Ohio, taking on Western Michigan, a total of 43-1⁄2.
03:35Very anti-MAC right there.
03:37And a side, a 2-1⁄2 for Western Michigan.
03:40Miami, Ohio, chucking the boys, taking on Western Michigan.
03:44What's the spread line?
03:45Yeah, I mean, Miami, by the way, of Ohio, did beat Western Michigan during the regular season, 26-17 here.
03:54But both of these teams were tied 6-2 in the conference.
03:57That's how they got to this MAAC championship.
03:59And you know, Donnie, I've been riding Western Michigan and that underrated defense all year long.
04:06The problem is, Miami of Ohio's quarterback, Daquan Finn, left the team because he wants to get ready for the NFL draft.
04:13What?
04:14NFL draft?
04:15Nobody even knows who you are.
04:16Are you kidding me?
04:18But the reality is, Donnie, we haven't seen the line move at all in this.
04:21It opened 2-1⁄2.
04:23It is at 2-1⁄2.
04:24We did see, obviously, a little money tick to the under.
04:28This is going to be a game all about the defenses.
04:30So I agree with the move to the under in the total.
04:33I don't ever think this gets the 3, Donnie.
04:35So I think what we see is what we're going to get.
04:38All right.
04:39College football debate time.
04:41A huge television show tonight, which is going to set the stage.
04:44And I want to ask you this question here because I hear the arguments, right?
04:48And I have to say, like, I am a Miami fan.
04:50So sometimes you can say, oh, you're pointing in the wrong direction.
04:53You know I'm an Eagles fan.
04:53I blast them repeatedly at this point.
04:56But when I honestly look at the criteria to get into a college football playoff,
05:00and we're not going back 25 years where it was two teams that got in
05:03and people were voting on mythical national champions,
05:05there's much better ways to do it now that we have 12 teams in.
05:08I don't agree with the automatic buys because you're not getting the best 12 teams in.
05:12It's more of an inventational as opposed to the best teams get it.
05:15But if we just are being optimistic about a Miami perspective, two losses and two losses,
05:21similar schedule, close neck and neck.
05:23One team beat the other.
05:24There's no debate at that point.
05:26So I'm going to ask Joe that question in a moment.
05:27But also, when I'm taking a look where the committee painted themselves in a corner and said,
05:32well, we think Notre Dame is better than Miami.
05:34At the end of the season, everybody's going like, well, head to head is the top criteria.
05:38How do you work your way out of this?
05:39Joe, answer me this.
05:40Do they leave Miami out of the college football playoff or do they still give them a pathway
05:46by saying, here's where we're at.
05:48Here's what we're laying out.
05:50Usually they take the path of if you make your college football championship game and you lose it,
05:56we don't hold that against you.
05:58If you win it, it's only a bonus.
06:00So do they say tonight, Joe?
06:02Well, you know what?
06:03Alabama does have two losses.
06:05If they lose the SEC championship game, Miami moves up.
06:09BYU and or Texas Tech has a loss.
06:13If they lose, one of those teams is going behind Miami.
06:17That's the only way I see fit that they can make this clear.
06:21Because if they don't, Joe, it is going to be an unbelievable shockwave earthquake ramification
06:26on how we look at the future of the college football playoff.
06:30Well, listen, you know, like we had said, Donnie, tonight there is going to be a record amount
06:36of outrage in college football towns and cities around the country.
06:41So get ready for it.
06:43And here's why.
06:44Let's play it back, Donnie.
06:46Let's look at the teams.
06:47Because I have eight teams right now that are already a lock for a playoff.
06:53Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oregon, Ole Miss, and now let's put
07:02in Oklahoma as the only two-loss team of those because of the strength of schedule and the
07:07teams they beat.
07:09So that means, Donnie, two more bids will go to the fourth and fifth highest-ranked conference
07:14champs, one of which will be either the American champion, right, or the Sunbelt champion.
07:21And that means we have way more.
07:24We got two spots open that have to go to a number of two-loss teams that all think they
07:29considered, right?
07:31Notre Dame, BYU.
07:33I mean, you've got all the Miami.
07:36You got all these other teams just on the outside looking in, which means this tonight, this ranking
07:42tonight matters because are you going to jump anybody if you're 13 or 14?
07:46No.
07:46Like, you have to be, you know, Miami has to be ranked tonight to a spot where if somebody
07:53is to lose a conference championship game, it opens the door, I think, for the committee
07:58to slide them right in, even though they don't have to play another game.
08:02So tonight's ranking means everything for anybody on the outside looking in right now.
08:08And also, it does matter, like, when you lose.
08:11Because people always see, like, around, like, social media.
08:141993, Florida State, you know, they should have played Notre Dame.
08:17Notre Dame in a game where you, or excuse me, in a season where it's the top two teams.
08:20You can't lose your last game and expect to stay number two in the country or jump another
08:24team that didn't do that.
08:25But now that we extrapolate and we have 12 teams getting in, like, and also the arguments
08:30for, like, yes, I do think Notre Dame is good and legitimately should be in the college
08:33football playoff.
08:34But if they're head-to-head against Miami doesn't matter, what does it mean?
08:37And also, I always give the SEC the benefit of the doubt.
08:41But why does Alabama just like, yeah, we lost to Florida State by double digits.
08:44But that doesn't matter at this point.
08:45Now, why wouldn't that matter?
08:47Florida State is a horrendous football team.
08:49And last year, like, Notre Dame got in the college football playoff.
08:51They lost to a MAAC team at home.
08:53Like, we can't play these, you know, semantics.
08:56When you play the game on the field, I don't care if it was played in August or December.
09:00If you beat that team straight up and you're similar in the polls, like,
09:03if you would have said Notre Dame is number two, Miami is 19, yeah, I get it.
09:07They're not going to jump 17 spots.
09:09But number nine and number 12 and I beat you, it's hard to hold you out of it.
09:13But again, Joe, there's a chance for the committee, which you know they don't want to look bad
09:17or be embarrassed or have people too flustered.
09:20The way to get Miami and Notre Dame is to say, look, if Texas Tech gets beat or BYU gets beat,
09:25they're out of it.
09:26That's two losses and the most recent loss.
09:28If Georgia ends up knocking off Alabama, well, that's going to take place.
09:32But also, Joe, what if Georgia loses and dropped the two losses at this point with a recent loss?
09:37There's so many ways that the committee can play this up by saying, Miami,
09:40you're not going to get a chance to play for your championship game here,
09:44but here's a way you can get in.
09:45Because honestly, if they said Miami, you're not getting in unless this happens
09:48and it doesn't happen, well, then you live with it at that point.
09:51But if Miami is completely shut out after tonight where no matter what happens,
09:55which includes another two or a three-loss team, like Alabama gets in as a three-loss team
10:00over Miami, that can't happen, Joe.
10:03It can't.
10:05Well, you know, also, you can't.
10:08SMU, losing to SMU in Louisville, teams, both teams finished eight and four in the season.
10:12I wouldn't view either of those as bad losses.
10:16Correct.
10:16You know, it's not like they lost to, you know, Florida State, who was awful.
10:22But I would also caution, I wouldn't exactly declare the Alabama Crimson Tide safe
10:28because they barely made the cut last week, and the committee has no obligation
10:34to protect a conference championship loser.
10:37So, you know, they didn't drop SMU last year, who lost to Clemson in the ACC championship, Donnie,
10:44but it was a walk-off 56-yard field goal.
10:47What if Georgia beats Alabama 31-10 or 31-13?
10:51They're, now all of a sudden, you know, that's why Miami's placement tonight is going
10:57to be very, very important because it's very easy to justify taking a team, let's say,
11:03currently at number 12.
11:04Maybe they move to number 11.
11:06If that's the case, very easy for you to slide Miami right in.
11:11And again, we wouldn't have any of these issues or be screaming at this point right now because
11:15it feels like they have to expand to at least 16 teams.
11:18If you're going to give auto bids to conferences, that shouldn't be in the college football playoff.
11:22Like if you just remove those group of five teams, you'd say, okay, Miami gets in and also
11:27Notre Dame gets in and maybe Vanderbilt can squeeze in an argument for Texas.
11:30That's one thing here.
11:31But that's what you get so upset about, which I don't think Miami and or Notre Dame are going
11:35to win a championship.
11:36But I'll tell you right now, they have a better chance in North Texas at winning a championship
11:40at this point.
11:41And that's the issue that we have.
11:43I don't know if it's going to get explained tonight because you know they have horrible
11:46explanations week to week.
11:48But there is nothing set in stone where they've been telling you one thing for weeks.
11:51They can change it up and make their mind a different situation.
11:54The first time I'm going to watch it is tonight.
11:56I can't wait to see what the committee has to say.
