00:00But let's get to the crown jewel. Typically, each and every conference championship weekend,
00:04it's the SEC. It's Georgia and it's Alabama. And quite frankly, this is not even the best game of
00:10the weekend, but it is the SEC. And there's a lot going to come from this, Joe. Georgia and
00:14Alabama in Atlanta. The line opened up roughly one and a half. You see the movement here to
00:19Georgia at minus two and a half, a total of 48 and a half. A lot is on the line. And I'm going
00:24to start this by saying, I'm going to be pissed off if Alabama gets in this college football
00:29playoff with a loss on Saturday. So Alabama, don't piss me off. Win this football game.
00:34Your spread line, Joe, for Georgia and Alabama. What is it?
00:38Well, it's interesting, right? Because we are starting to see and you got to wonder,
00:42is there any Georgia fatigue in the marketplace here, Donnie? When it just feels like here we go
00:50again. The problem is Georgia doesn't exactly have the greatest track record against Bama.
00:55And this goes all the way back to the Saban days too, as well. But we are starting to see
01:01a little bit of love here in the marketplace. This got, it was one, one and a half at the
01:06open, Donnie. We're now two and a half, but there are some spots where we're starting to
01:11see two. So maybe a little more Alabama love coming in. And I do think before we get to this
01:17kickoff tomorrow, Donnie, I believe there will be more Alabama money coming in. So my suggestion
01:24that these prices would be, whoever it is you like to win this game, just bet them on the
01:31money line. And we're not getting any movement in the total whatsoever here.
01:36Yeah. We got coach Bowden on a little bit later in the show. We'll talk to him extensively about
01:39this game, but Joe, we won't have another show in the early nine till Monday when the absolute
01:43card is set for the college football playoff. Answer me this. If Bama loses for you, Joe,
01:49I was like, ah, it's the SEC title game. They still get in. Or are you saying that's three losses
01:53and you lost to FSU and you're out? What's your thought process for Sunday's show?
01:58Well, listen, Bama losing is good for Notre Dame, right? But it ultimately, if we're talking
02:05about Miami, is it Miami? Is it Notre Dame? Who's it going to be? Well, that all depends
02:10on what Texas Tech does to BYU. Because if BYU wins, Donnie, it won't matter what Alabama
02:16does one way or the other, if Georgia wins or Alabama wins. So the ramifications are,
02:22if you're Bama, you're guaranteed to be in. If you win, you'll need maybe a little bit
02:26of help if you lose. Bottom line is, I don't think either of these two teams are going into
02:31that game. Donnie going, yeah, let's like, you know, Georgia's safe. Bama's like, yeah,
02:36as long as we don't get blown out, we're good to go. They are both going to lay it out on the
02:41line to try and win this game.
02:42Can't wait to watch it play out. You'll do that on Saturday here. But let's take a look
02:46at Duke and Virginia, Joe. This is the ACC. And did you know that Rick Ross is going to
02:51be performing at ACC FanFest? They actually coined that term exactly right. FanFest, not
02:56fans. There might be one fan in that stadium. Duke and Virginia. Virginia, three and a half
03:01point favorite. Other outlets, Joe, as high as four and a half now in a total of 57 and a
03:06half. The embarrassment, that is the ACC, is going to be showcased Saturday at eight
03:10o'clock. It's also another game at eight o'clock Saturday that maybe people probably
03:13watching a little bit more. What's your spread line, Duke, Virginia?
03:17Well, listen, this was the doomsday scenario I talked about a couple of weeks ago, Donnie,
03:22hoping that this is exactly where the committee would be backed into a corner with the ACC getting
03:27shut out. And that is very likely to happen if Duke wins this game, right? Seven and five on the
03:34season. If they upset number or number 14 here, Virginia, 10 and two Virginia, then it's likely
03:41the ACC gets shut out. But the market doesn't think that's going to happen here, Donnie. The
03:46market doesn't think that this rematch is going to be any different than what we got the first
03:50go around. It opened up at two and a half. It's now three and a half. There may even be four
03:56starting to pop up. It has been all Virginia money all week long, the total hovering around
04:0257 and a half. But if you want chaos, well, Duke winning would create a whole lot of chaos here.
04:10But the Cavs sitting at number 17 right now, it's pretty straightforward. If they win,
04:15the ACC is in, they'll be in at that particular point. But Duke winning would be a whole lot of chaos
04:23for the committee. Yeah, talking about wins and losses and seeding here, not going to have to
04:27worry about that with Indiana and Ohio State. They're going to tee it up at eight o'clock on
04:30Saturday night, side by side with the ACC. That's hilarious. Indiana is getting four and a half points
04:36at most outlets. The favorite, of course, Ohio State, a total of 47 and a half. You know,
04:41Cignetti wants this. You know, the Indiana fan base wants this because how many times does it come
04:45around where Indiana can actually win the Big Ten? But I'll tell you what will be hilarious.
04:49Ohio State loses this game, then wins the national championship. And back to back years,
04:53we won the national championship. Oh man, Big Ten as well. No, we didn't win that at all. Joe,
04:57what's your spread line here, Indiana, Ohio State? Oh, Donnie, I would be very worried about this
05:02because it appears the entire world is on Indiana here. This opened up, look at the line, five and a
05:09half, six for Ohio State. Donnie, it dipped down to three and a half in a few spots yesterday. And that
05:15is where we saw the buyback on Ohio State. I mean, listen, Ohio State is not going to roll over for
05:22anybody. We know this. If Indiana is as good as they think they are, neutral site? All right,
05:29well, you're going to have to prove it. But I do think the Ohio State money, Donnie,
05:33is sitting on the sidelines waiting to see just how much will the public bet Indiana before kickoff
05:39here. The Ohio State money is coming, Donnie, before kick.
05:42Oh, we're right back on a football Friday and really excited. It's Donnie Wright's out. It's Joe
05:46we're here, and it's Coach Terry Bowden. We have so much to talk about this week, so much up in the
05:50air, Coach. You've been through all these wars in college football. How about a television show that
05:56tells you when and where you're allowed to play, Coach? It's insane, isn't it?
06:01It is getting crazy. You know what? I'm so tired about seeing which coach is going to go where
06:06or hearing about Lane Kiffin. I'm ready to talk about anything else.
06:11Yeah, let's get right down to the business here. I mean, it's about on the field, not off the field.
06:15And by the way, Lane Kiffin is supposed to show up at the SEC championship game to be interviewed.
06:18That should be wild in itself. But Coach, let's get right down to the business here.
06:22Georgia and Alabama are going to play. Before I let you answer, let's hear from Kirby Smart right now
06:28about being conservative in the playoffs?
06:30So we would give you the injury risk that goes along with the SEC championship. What's better for your
06:35teams to be farther next week or to go to try to do the season?
06:40If you worry about injury risk, we won't practice next week.
06:42So, like, you live your life scared of injuries, you know what you get?
06:48A very scared team. And I don't, you know, I mean, yeah, there's also an opportunity to win an SEC championship.
06:54Does that matter? Does anybody care about that anymore? I mean, I grew up thinking that was the greatest game in the world.
07:00And I just differed from everybody else. Yeah, we lost guys today to injury. We're going to lose guys in practice to injury.
07:08But that's next man up. Like, that's what's wrong with this whole thing now. It's like, what if you get hurt? What if you do this? What if you do that?
07:15I mean, it's football. It's all part of it.
07:18Coach, taking it easy in the SEC championship game. What? Come on now.
07:25The college football will never be quite like the NFL because of conference championships.
07:30Now, Kirby Smart has not been successful against Alabama.
07:340-2 against Kalen DeBoard. This is huge to him. This is personal to him.
07:38And it is very big. He played at Georgia when I was a head coach at Auburn.
07:42He was in the defensive backfield playing against me. It means a lot.
07:45It's a huge game. And it will always be big, especially in the South, that conference championship.
07:53Coach, how much do you look at that game, that first game between those two teams?
07:59Is there anything to take? It feels like it was a million miles, you know, years ago here.
08:03It felt like Georgia got better as the game went on.
08:07So, and what kind of adjustments do the coaches make here, if any?
08:12Well, Georgia has had a problem all year, and especially against Alabama,
08:16falling behind in the first half and then spending the entire game catching up.
08:21Georgia has got to stay even. I don't care if they're losing by seven and a half,
08:24but stay even, keep pounding the football, play good defense,
08:28because I think they'll overwhelm Alabama in the second half.
08:31That's been their MO the whole year.
08:33They've just got to make sure they don't fall behind,
08:35because Alabama is very talented. Their quarterback is a winner.
08:39They've got some big play people on offense.
08:42And so, Georgia, if they'll just stay close, I think they win it like they've done all year.
08:47And let me say this. When you play twice in one year in college football
08:50and you lose the first time, you've got a good chance of winning the second time.
08:54It always happens. I'm going to go back to Florida State.
08:57My dad, in 96, played Florida during the regular season, beat them 24-21.
09:02They met up again in the national championship.
09:04He lost 52-20 in the championship.
09:09Georgia will find a way to win this game.
09:11Coach, let me ask you a question on this, too.
09:13We understand if Alabama wins, of course they're in.
09:15Alabama loses.
09:16Is there a chance that they could be left out of the college football playoff?
09:19I think there's going to be some serious questions that have to be answered.
09:23Let's go a little bit further.
09:24What if Duke wins, and now you've got to find a way to fit somebody in,
09:29another G5 team possibly?
09:31Now, if you have no ACC teams, they've got to find a way to get Miami in.
09:36They've got to find a way to get an ACC team where it blows up this whole thing,
09:41because that's a lot of investment by the ACC in that they get a team in there.
09:46So there's a lot to happen, but I do think if Alabama loses,
09:50there is a question, not that they don't deserve to be in,
09:52because you shouldn't play a conference championship and fall out,
09:55but that committee has got to look at how they treat the ACC
09:58if Duke blows it up a little bit.
10:02Well, listen, Miami's best shot of getting in is they need Texas Tech
10:06to handle business against BYU.
10:09Now, to your point, you just said teams that play twice,
10:13well, the market doesn't think we're going to get anything different
10:15than we got the first game, Coach, because it's 12-and-a-half
10:18and a Big 12 championship.
10:20Do we get any different result than we got last time?
10:25Well, I think not Texas Tech.
10:27I think, you know, unless one team is definitely better than the other team,
10:30and I do think Texas Tech is better than BYU,
10:33they've won.
10:34Their 11 wins out of their 12 games have been by over 20 points.
10:38They have been that good in their victories.
10:41And the game that they lost, their quarterback was out.
10:44I just think they're better.
10:46I think they've got this game, and I think they'll win this team.
10:49It's a case of them just being a better football team,
10:52especially defensive front, and I think they slow down BYU,
10:55and they win this game.
10:57Coach, I know you'll be watching on Saturday night, 8 p.m.
11:00What a game we have in the Big Ten.
11:01Two teams undefeated.
11:03That's Indiana and Ohio State.
11:05And Indiana, not used to being in this position.
11:07Talk to us about how prepared Indiana will be.
11:09And also, Kurt Cignetti, you know he wants this game bad.
11:14Yeah, you know, and of course I know Kurt,
11:16and I've known him all of his life, and I've watched the coach.
11:18He's really the more experienced head coach.
11:21You look at what he's done.
11:22He's been a lot more postseason games.
11:24I think you may be able to – his coaching is not going to be sub
11:27what Ohio State's is.
11:29But when you look at this team, number one, defense, Ohio State.
11:32Number two, offense, Indiana.
11:33Indiana, both quarterbacks, I call that pretty even.
11:37When I look at this game, who has the most veteran NFL talent?
11:41Who's got the most talent on that field during the entire game?
11:45And that's still Ohio State.
11:46And so until I see Indiana do that, I've got to take Ohio State to cover.
11:52You wonder – I mean, is Ryan Day – he's been here and done this before,
11:57though, Coach.
11:58Like, how much of that playbook is he opening up?
12:00Oh, it's all going to be there.
12:02I promise you – let me – I don't downplay his – the type of coach that he is.
12:07I just – Kurt has been – when you win at a lot of different schools
12:10and you take them to championships, I'm one – I know for a fact
12:14it's no easier in Division III than it is in Division II and backwards.
12:17But he'll lay it out there and do everything he can.
12:20That Big Ten championship's like the SEC championship.
12:23Now, Coach, we have you on each and every week.
12:25We'll talk to you again tomorrow as the games go on.
12:27But let me ask you this question.
12:28You're sharp as a tack right now.
12:29Penn State doesn't have a football coach.
12:31It's about time a ballot has landed in State College.
12:34What do you say?
12:34Come on.
12:35Put your hat in the ring.
12:37Well, you know, when my dad was at West Virginia and I was at West Virginia,
12:40we lost about 20 straight years to Penn State.
12:42During those days, it was tough.
12:44But let me – no, I think I'm best – I'm best talking to y'all each week on the football.
12:50I did my 30 years of duty.
12:51But I'll say this.
12:52I've heard the name Matt Camel.
12:54I've coached against him.
12:55Great coach.
12:55They ought to go down and talk Tony Elliott into – as those two would be great choices.
13:00I don't hear much about that.
13:08We was robbed last night on a couple games.
13:11Should have at least got a split at worst-case scenario.
13:13Probably should have went 2-0, but that's neither here nor there.
13:16Sweeps on Monday.
13:17Sweeps on Tuesday.
13:18Reverse sweeps on Wednesday and Thursday.
13:21But it all comes down to Friday for that winning week today, Joe.
13:23Where are we headed?
13:25We are headed, Donnie, to, well, none other than college football here.
13:32And if it ain't broke, we ain't fixing it.
13:34We have cashed a number of tickets on the Kennesaw State Owls this year.
13:39And you heard Coach Bowden earlier in the show, Donnie, say, hey,
13:44when a team that are pretty much equal here or close to being equal
13:50play for a second time in the season, well, it's advantage to the team that lost the first game.
13:56And that's exactly what we have here.
13:59Jacksonville State is hosting this game because they beat Kennesaw State at home a few weeks ago,
14:0535-26.
14:06But forget that number.
14:08Look at the numbers.
14:10Kennesaw State blasted them.
14:12The problem was they had four turnovers in the game.
14:17But they outgamed them, Donnie, by nearly 180 yards in that game here.
14:22They have one of the worst defenses, Jacksonville State.
14:25Kennesaw State's better offensively.
14:28They are very one-dimensional, Jacksonville State, when it comes to offense.
14:32They can only run the ball.
14:34And if they can't run the ball, guess what?
14:37They're out of luck here.
14:38I like Kennesaw State.
14:40They're a bit better defensively.
14:42They are significantly better offensively.
14:45Revenge game.
14:46Give me Kennesaw State on the money line to get it done tonight, Donnie.
