00:00The one thing we can agree on, the top eight has been settled.
00:02Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.
00:08Safely in the college football playoff.
00:10Bama at 9, Notre Dame 10, BYU 11, Miami 12.
00:13That's where the focal point is going to be at this point right now, Joe.
00:17And let me understand this, right?
00:19Bama wins, BYU wins, Joe.
00:23ND and Miami would be out.
00:25Do we then say to ourselves, okay, they're out of the college football playoff.
00:28Don't they have to play in a bowl game then against each other?
00:32Isn't that the correct move to make?
00:36Yeah, well, that would, and you know that's what would happen,
00:39but neither would be happy with that in any way, shape, or form would they be happy with that.
00:45But, and I think it was strategic what the college football committee did
00:50by dropping Notre Dame back a spot, bringing Alabama up.
00:54You know, they basically protected their own you-know-what, Donnie, because if, listen,
01:00even if Georgia wins, right, as long as they don't blow out Alabama, at number nine, Bama's safe.
01:05The real issue is going to come into play with, does Virginia or Duke win,
01:10and does BYU beat Texas Tech?
01:12Because if they do, then two teams from the Big 12 are guaranteed in the college football playoff.
01:19Not enough spots for those two.
01:20We could have it all. We're close to having it all, but we're going to continue to have these stupid conversations,
01:26all because of that television show.
01:28If we didn't have the television show they gave us one show, like they do on Selection Sunday,
01:32we're like, ooh, that's interesting, and you talk about it, and then you move on.
01:35But the fact that we've seen this coming miles away from multiple weeks makes it that much more fascinating
01:39because we never get a straight answer from the people actually picking the teams,
01:43which makes it even more maddening.
01:45You know who's upset about this? How about Notre Dame?
01:47They're trying to pitch and tell them why they should be in the playoff.
01:50Here's Marcus Freeman.
01:51You know, it's obviously disappointing, but more so because we're confused in terms of what we could have done differently,
02:07and why we fell when we won 49-20.
02:12We were up 42-6 in the fourth quarter, and that's the only thing.
02:19And it's not a – I don't – I'll spend time talking to other teams,
02:23but it's just like, okay, what could we have done differently?
02:28Like, I don't know, or maybe it was just a – you always look for a cause and a check.
02:32You look for a reason in why, you know, you go up through defaults.
02:36And for me, it was just – you didn't see a great explanation for why we fell
02:45when we had a performance in big last Saturday.
02:49And so – this is too – disappointed.
02:53I mean, we fell just because I don't necessarily agree with it.
02:59Because I think our guys did a good enough job versus Stanford to be out here.
03:07Not falling into rankings.
03:09I mean, I don't know if our team did something that much better than us to jump,
03:12because I don't know.
03:13You know, it's pretty committed to kind of address.
03:16Joe, he's right about one thing.
03:20Like, if Alabama knocked off Georgia as a top-five team this past weekend
03:23and jumped Notre Dame, nobody's going to be upset with that.
03:26But Alabama went to the wire against a bad Auburn football team
03:29and barely won that game and jumped Notre Dame.
03:31I do think that's funny, but I know you know there's other outstanding circumstances
03:35of why they actually wanted Bama ahead of Notre Dame.
03:39Well, because they needed to bring Notre Dame closer to Miami in order to –
03:45if it gets to that point, then they could have the conversation of Notre Dame.
03:49If Notre Dame remains at number nine, Donnie, and Miami's 12, and neither is playing,
03:55you're never going to have that conversation, right?
03:58You're never going to – Miami's never going to jump Notre Dame,
04:01and it's not going to matter that you beat them.
04:02But at number 10, with BYU sandwiched in the middle, guess what?
04:08BYU loses.
04:09Now you've got to have that conversation about Miami or Notre Dame.
04:14So a little bit of maneuvering and game planning here by the committee.
04:17So a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of
