00:00One way, Canada.
00:01Watch me do my thing.
00:12This is absolutely stunning.
00:15Wow.
00:16Last week, I thought I would be in the top three.
00:18It really shook me. I'm not going to lie.
00:21This doesn't feel real.
00:22Oh, I know.
00:24This competition is very intense
00:26because everyone really wants it.
00:29My biggest fear was going home first,
00:31but it was really validating to be in the top,
00:33and I would love to keep that going.
00:35It's like a fairy tale.
00:37This is so pretty.
00:46Bonjour, designers.
00:48Bonjour.
00:49Strong, commanding, majestic.
00:53These three words describe where we are standing today,
00:56here at the legendary Casaloma.
00:58But they also perfectly embody something more powerful.
01:02The women celebrated each year
01:04at Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris during Paris Fashion Week
01:08as they walk their worth,
01:10a showcase of sisterhood and empowerment,
01:12where women from all backgrounds
01:14walk their worth down the runway.
01:16Amazing.
01:17Which will serve as the inspiration for your very first real client challenge.
01:25Oh, my God.
01:27It's a client challenge.
01:29Hoping my client likes something flowy.
01:31But who knows?
01:33Client work is a really tricky balancing act,
01:35but I am so excited.
01:36A lot of my work is client-based.
01:38I'm pairing you up with L'Oréal Paris content creator partners
01:42who are all making a splash in the beauty and fashion world.
01:45You'll design a glamorous evening wear look
01:47that will help them feel worth it as they strut the runway.
01:51I shine in women's wear, so I feel like I just won the lottery.
01:55Just to shake things up,
01:57you'll have to work within the L'Oréal Paris color palette.
02:00Gold, red, black, and white.
02:03You won't meet your clients till tomorrow,
02:05but for now, you get to know all about them
02:07and their personal style by scrolling their social.
02:10Ooh!
02:11This is a two-day challenge.
02:13Ooh!
02:14You have 30 minutes to sketch your design ideas
02:16before meeting Aurora at the fabric store.
02:18Ooh!
02:19All the best, everyone!
02:20Au revoir!
02:21Au revoir!
02:22Thank you!
02:25I am nervous.
02:27I've done maybe one gown-ish before.
02:31This is gonna be a challenge,
02:33but let's try to make it to the top.
02:36My client, Jacqueline,
02:38she's kind of a tomboy,
02:40but she's coming to me for, like, a luxury gown.
02:45So I'm really gonna have to think about
02:47trying to make my client happy.
02:49I'm scrolling through Tanisha's profile.
02:51I'm automatically drawn to her.
02:53Tanisha loves clean lines, movement.
02:55She likes to present herself
02:58in sort of effortless but classic way.
03:01So I'm thinking about
03:02making a white eyelet corset dress.
03:05It's so unexpected to make cotton pillow in this way
03:08and juxtapose it with liquid black jersey.
03:11To make something that's casual seem elegant,
03:13it's a gamble,
03:14and then you have to understand material
03:16in order to deliver.
03:19My client, Tara,
03:20we have a very similar style.
03:21A little sexy and mysterious.
03:23I love to dress the inner vixen.
03:25I have been using houndstooth
03:27since I started designing.
03:28I've sketched out a full houndstooth
03:31cascade sleeve deep v bold dress.
03:33I'm actually very excited about this challenge.
03:35This is where I think I'm gonna thrive.
03:37That's awesome.
03:38Yeah.
03:42Wow.
03:45Welcome, designers.
03:47Hi.
03:48You're gonna have 30 minutes and $600
03:51to bring your visions to life.
03:53What are you waiting for?
03:55Go.
04:01I'm trying to find a motif.
04:04Fortunately for me this week,
04:06my client Roshna's aesthetic
04:08lines up with mine almost perfectly.
04:10She's minimalist, luxe, she's sophisticated,
04:14and those are words that I would use
04:15to also define my brand.
04:17So I'm making a two-piece evening wear look.
04:19It's a strapless bodice with draping at the front
04:23and then at the bottom a pencil skirt.
04:25Just make sure it feels elegant.
04:27Make sure it feels foster.
04:28Mm-hmm.
04:29And I have to say,
04:30don't change who you are
04:33just because of what happened last week.
04:35Being in the bottom in the denim challenge
04:37was really tough.
04:38I thought that was the end.
04:40This week I'm going to show the judges
04:42that my look really represents me as a designer.
04:45I think I found something.
04:47I know.
04:48All right, where's the cutter?
04:49This is a workout.
04:50Bella, make sure they don't go over budget, okay?
04:53Only $600, not a penny more.
04:57I know, it's hard.
05:00I want to be careful about my gold.
05:01Watch out.
05:02Because I want to make sure
05:04it's cohesive together and it reads gold.
05:06I got the amazing Eliza.
05:08She's girly, chic, effortless, and timeless.
05:11And lo and behold,
05:12one of her favorite silhouettes is the hourglass.
05:14So for this challenge,
05:15I'm trying to play with some feminine shapes.
05:17I'm doing a fitted black bodice
05:19and a large, poofy taffeta skirt
05:21and add some gold accents as well.
05:23I'm also looking for gold,
05:24so watch out, girl.
05:26It's the only two shades of brown you have in mesh.
05:29I have Stephanie as my client.
05:31She really wants to highlight a curve.
05:35So I'm making a nude color corset,
05:38a fitted dress with feathers,
05:40and white fabrics.
05:42I have this great vision,
05:44but I don't know if it's gonna match her skin
05:46because I didn't match her yet.
05:49Remember our colors, guys.
05:50It's red, gold, black, and white.
05:53Some of you are choosing some weird things.
05:56This one looks a little dressy enough.
05:59I'm excited.
06:01My designs could be interpreted as evening wear,
06:03and I feel like I can do pretty well in this challenge.
06:06But my client loves linen and a simple A-line silhouette.
06:11It's gonna be a little bit tricky to make linen,
06:14you know, dressy.
06:15Hopefully this shimmery linen,
06:17I think it's gonna work.
06:18It has a little bit of glimmer to it.
06:20It's a client challenge,
06:21but I gotta find a way to make the client happy.
06:24I think this would do.
06:27Little Feather, how are we looking?
06:29Great. Perfect. I'm under budget.
06:31Keep shopping, girl.
06:32I'm trying.
06:33What if you change your mind?
06:34Okay, okay, okay.
06:35Ten minutes. Time to get cutting.
06:39Do we have this one in black?
06:41I'm still not 100% sure what I'm doing.
06:44Like, I can see it in my head,
06:46but finding the right fabric is important
06:48because it is a make or break of my garment.
06:51Choosing the wrong fabric will land me in the bottom.
06:54I'm gonna be making something more structured,
06:56so satin is a good option.
06:58Oh, here it is. I think I found it.
07:00Oh, that's similar, but not quite.
07:03Looking around the store,
07:05I do see a section of houndstooth,
07:06but it's a tweed,
07:07which is very, very different from the knit
07:09that I'm looking for.
07:10I'm not giving up on my houndstooth idea.
07:12I have to use it because it's my brown staple,
07:14but then I notice this really shiny black sequin,
07:17so I'm gonna try to mix it with the houndstooth print,
07:20which is really risky, but I think it'll pay off.
07:23I am definitely gonna use it as my base.
07:25We shifted a little bit,
07:26but I am happy with what I have.
07:28Two minutes left.
07:30Ah! Oh, my God.
07:32Oh, yes, okay.
07:33Thank you so much.
07:34Good.
07:35Ah! I'm done.
07:37Time is up!
07:39I will see you back at the workroom.
07:48And we're back at it.
07:50Oh, hello, workroom.
07:52Let's do it.
07:56Who'd you get?
07:57I got Nate.
07:58Okay.
07:59So I'm excited to meet them.
08:00In one of Nate's photos,
08:01she had this beautiful lace-up leather bag,
08:03so I really wanted to tap into that.
08:05For this client challenge,
08:07I'm gonna be making this really cool red lace-up velvet bodice gown
08:12with a matte satin skirt.
08:14I want to push my skill set,
08:16but also I won the first challenge,
08:18and I'm low-key expecting to win maybe every challenge.
08:22The fact that you're stitching already.
08:24Girl, my gown's gonna be done by tonight.
08:26Okay, let's go.
08:29I'm sweating here.
08:37Hey, designers!
08:38Hello!
08:39Hello!
08:40I'm very excited to see what you guys come up with.
08:47Hello.
08:48Hey, Maya.
08:49You were in the top last week.
08:51It's true.
08:52Do you feel that this look can get you a win?
08:55I hope so.
08:57I feel it's very me.
08:58I'm looking around, and everyone's doing long,
09:00so it could be a worthy risk.
09:03My client, Gemma, loves mini dresses,
09:05so I want to give that to her.
09:07So I'm making a black silk mini dress
09:10and a pillbox hat.
09:11I can execute it well.
09:12Okay, that's elegant.
09:13And I obviously picked this really gorgeous fabric.
09:16I'm excited to see this come to life.
09:18I think it's really cool.
09:22Tell me what's going on here.
09:24My client likes asymmetrical,
09:26so I'm doing an asymmetrical top
09:29and an illusion of pants,
09:31but it's going to be a skirt.
09:33Okay, here we have, like, a lot of applique,
09:36a lot of this going on,
09:38and I just want to make sure that your design skills
09:42are still able to shine through.
09:44Right.
09:45I was a little worried about you in the fabric store
09:54because it was evening wear,
09:55and I wasn't sure how comfortable you are with evening wear.
09:57Yeah, I'm not very comfortable with evening wear.
09:59You're not? No.
10:00She likes a simple, timeless look.
10:04The disdain in your face.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Simple, timeless.
10:08That's so timeless.
10:09I'm just trying to play around in my head
10:10to see how is it that I can actually pull this out.
10:13My client, she also likes a bit of an edge,
10:16which is good for me because my brand, Viago,
10:19has a lot of edge to it.
10:20So I'm going to create an evening gown
10:22with a sweetheart-lined bustier
10:24and a pleated mermaid skirt.
10:26And I think the judges will be impressed.
10:28And I have to say, I'm loving this fabric choice.
10:31It feels elegant.
10:33It feels like the brief.
10:34Yes.
10:35Okay.
10:38What's here?
10:39Is this a hood again?
10:41Yes.
10:42Who's your content creator?
10:43Uh, Emily.
10:44She likes to accentuate her tiny waist.
10:47I noticed she wears a deep red nail polish,
10:50so I'm creating a red corset top
10:53with a pleated ball gown skirt.
10:55I am worried about doing another hood.
10:57It makes me think that maybe I should pivot,
11:00so I don't want to do the exact same thing.
11:02Maybe I could do just a collar this time.
11:04But we also have to make sure
11:05that we, like, nail the assignment
11:07because they really don't want to see you in the bottom.
11:09Yeah.
11:10We want to be on the top.
11:11I'm hoping she likes my plan.
11:15Ow!
11:16You feeling okay after last week?
11:20Oh, I'm not going to lie.
11:22I was a little bit down, but I have to rise beyond this,
11:26so that's what I'm doing.
11:27My client, she loves, like, linen,
11:30but it's kind of hard to make linen dressy.
11:32Very hard to make linen glamorous evening wear.
11:35I know, but I did find a linen that looks...
11:38Let's see.
11:39I got to see it to believe it.
11:40I got to see it to believe it.
11:41Look at the shimmer, right?
11:42Because it's linen.
11:43Yes.
11:44I just want to make sure we don't let it, like,
11:46a crinkle wrinkle ball.
11:47No, I'm hoping it's not.
11:48I'm going to iron the hell out of it.
11:50Okay.
11:51I'm making a white linen dress
11:54with a deep V front, deep V in the back,
11:57with a red cape over it,
11:58so that I'm kind of incorporating, you know,
12:00the Somalian dinner.
12:01It's not something that you always see.
12:02Okay.
12:03Well, when I think of a red cape,
12:04I think of Little Red Riding Hood.
12:06So we just have to make sure it doesn't look like that.
12:08It won't.
12:09Whoa.
12:10And it's, like, looking really glamorous evening wear.
12:12Mm.
12:13This week is about showing them what we got.
12:15We need to be confident.
12:19Ah!
12:22I never would have guessed from your denim look
12:23that you would have reached for, like,
12:24a houndstooth and a sequin for this.
12:26I use houndstooth a lot.
12:27I love it so much.
12:28This is a classic.
12:29I'm pretty confident in this look, I think.
12:31You should be.
12:32The challenge is all about women empowerment,
12:34and that's exactly what I strive for.
12:36I design for the unapologetic woman
12:39because I was sexually abused
12:41when I was in my early 20s,
12:43and it wasn't until later I was like,
12:44I wish I would have done something about it.
12:46Now I don't hold anything back,
12:48and I put that into my designs.
12:49I'm gonna wear what I want,
12:51and I don't care what you say about it.
12:52I just like to say a big you
12:54to everybody that's hurt me.
12:55I feel confident,
12:56and I can inspire others to do the same,
12:59and nobody's gonna stop me.
13:01Designers, just remember,
13:03this is a client challenge.
13:05You have to be ready to pivot if necessary, okay?
13:08I'll see you tomorrow.
13:09Thanks, everybody.
13:10Bye.
13:11Bye.
13:12Bye.
13:19I'm looking at my brown corset.
13:22I don't know if the shade's gonna fit my client's skin color.
13:26I'm questioning myself.
13:28I bought two shades of brown
13:29because I didn't know, like,
13:30what exact shade she was.
13:32Yeah.
13:33So I don't know.
13:34But there is no time for me to make another dress.
13:37I just need to wait.
13:39I'm really scared.
13:48Guys, ten minutes left.
13:50That was fast.
13:51My fingers literally hurt so much.
13:56Okay.
14:00I was trying to pull a miracle.
14:11I'm ready to get started.
14:13Let's get it.
14:14This challenge is a client challenge,
14:16and we have to work with a very specific color palette.
14:19So Kat's look is weird.
14:24I have no idea what she's making.
14:28I am trying not to overthink.
14:31So just, like, focus.
14:36Kat, can you do it on the floor?
14:39It's just so early.
14:43That's so much better.
14:45Not for me, thanks.
14:47In this competition, every second counts,
14:49but it's hard to keep pushing forward
14:52with design choices
14:53when we haven't consulted our clients first.
14:57Everyone's nervous about their clients.
14:59Yeah.
15:01In the real world,
15:02clients know who they're coming to.
15:04If she doesn't like this,
15:05I hope she's gonna be like,
15:07I just want a tube top.
15:08I'm trying not to freak out,
15:17because if you get a great client,
15:19they understand what you're all about,
15:20but that's not guaranteed.
15:25Hey, designers.
15:26Hey.
15:27Guess what?
15:28Your clients are here.
15:31Ooh.
15:33Hey, hey.
15:35Hi.
15:36Tanisha.
15:37Wait, this is so cool.
15:38How are you?
15:39Hello.
15:40Nice to meet you.
15:41Tara comes in,
15:42and she just looks so chic.
15:44I made you something very Vixen-y.
15:46Ooh.
15:47Oh.
15:48This is your look.
15:49First set, okay.
15:50I wanted to have something unexpected,
15:52so I wanted to work with cotton
15:54and make it feel like a dress shirt.
15:56Gotcha.
15:57So this is the top piece.
15:59You're giving me one shoulder?
16:00Yeah, girl.
16:03If I have time,
16:04I wanted to do, like, a penye with these.
16:06What's a penye?
16:07It's just, like, basically, like, hips.
16:09Oh, you're giving me body.
16:11Yeah.
16:12Okay.
16:13I'm down for that.
16:14Are you breathing?
16:17I think so.
16:18I don't know.
16:19I'm like little wind.
16:21Butt sophisticated.
16:23Once you're on the runaway,
16:24you're moving.
16:25Love that, love that.
16:26Yeah.
16:27I kind of like it, actually,
16:28short with the train.
16:29Okay, great.
16:30I'm really glad to hear that.
16:31I'm very relieved that Gemma loves the look.
16:34Yeah.
16:35It's looking really nice.
16:37It is pretty late in the game to pivot.
16:39Let's talk about one thing.
16:41Okay.
16:42So this was supposed to be a nude illusion moment.
16:46Yeah.
16:47And it's not really giving nude right now.
16:50Yeah.
16:51The brown is darker than my skin tone.
16:54I'm just, like, not seeing the vision here.
16:57The white things.
16:58Yeah.
16:59The brief was black, white, red, gold.
17:02I'm forgetting that there's a challenge and there's rules.
17:05So what are we gonna do?
17:06We need a plan.
17:07I need to think.
17:08Let me think.
17:09Is this your style of dress?
17:12Yeah.
17:13I love it.
17:14You love the fit.
17:15Yeah.
17:16Do you like the dress?
17:17Yes.
17:18Yes, I do.
17:19Okay.
17:20I do.
17:21I feel like you have a little vixen in you, too.
17:22Girl, you know it.
17:23You really like it.
17:24It's giving angel.
17:25You look amazing.
17:26Modern angel.
17:27You look amazing.
17:28I do evening wear and this is my chance to prove to the judges that I deserve to be here.
17:34I do like the drama of it.
17:35Yeah, and then you'll have to like whip it around at the end of the runway.
17:39Yeah, yeah.
17:40How are you feeling about the linen?
17:42I heard linen was one of your favorite fabrics.
17:44Yeah, I'm feeling really good about it.
17:46I'm just really excited to see this all come together, honestly.
17:48Does it feel like you?
17:50Is it something that you would normally wear?
17:51For sure.
17:52Yeah, yeah.
17:53Okay.
17:54How about the cape?
17:55The cape is coming together.
17:57Do you like the cape?
17:59I've just never, I feel like I've never tried anything like this, but I'm very open.
18:04Okay, so it's not you, but you're willing to step out of your comfort zone.
18:07Oh, for sure.
18:08Yeah, yeah.
18:09Let me just do a couple little safety pins before you're out of here.
18:12Really bring that in.
18:13Is this your style?
18:14One shoulder is very me.
18:16I love it when it feels kind of sporty.
18:17I just love being in a one shoulder.
18:19Yes.
18:20I just am afraid that if we add more volume, that I'm going to look like a little cupcake.
18:26At the end of the day, it's about keeping the client happy, and I have to deliver.
18:33Wait, this top?
18:34What's going on here?
18:35It's different, yeah.
18:36Now that I see these different shapes, I'm like, yeah, I love them.
18:40Do we have enough time to switch to that type of neck?
18:43She wanted asymmetrical, and now she wants symmetrical.
18:49We can do that.
18:50You think?
18:51I want to make you happy.
18:53All right, designers, that's time.
18:56Say goodbye to your clients.
18:58See you, see you tomorrow.
19:00See you later.
19:01You have two hours and 45 minutes left in the workroom tonight.
19:08You're going to need to get to work.
19:10I want to see lots of glamour tomorrow.
19:13Get cracking.
19:16I'm f***ing stressed.
19:18I've decided to redo the whole thing.
19:22Every single thing?
19:23It's going to be like all white gown instead.
19:26If I'm not finishing this corset before the day ends,
19:29I'm not going to have a dress ready for tomorrow's runway.
19:3515 minutes.
19:36Let's get it together.
19:40I am a little annoyed with myself for, you know, offering so many options.
19:48I don't have enough liquid gold fabric,
19:50so I have to use the shiny fabric to create exactly what the client wants.
19:56If she doesn't like the new top, I am f***ed.
20:06Morning!
20:08Let's do it.
20:09Let's do it.
20:10It's runaway day today, and everybody's super happy of their looks around me,
20:15but I do not have a dress.
20:17You're not using the brown or gold anymore?
20:20No.
20:21I would just want the base to be done and hope to have enough time to drape the fabric well to do a skirt.
20:27What about you?
20:28I'm putting on my zippers.
20:30The cape is done, so I'm actually doing really good this time.
20:33Oh, I love the cape.
20:34It's beautiful.
20:35It puts the look that I had in my mind together.
20:39The color, the flow, the beauty.
20:42Oh!
20:43Hi, everyone!
20:44Hi!
20:45I'm back, and I brought your clients.
20:47Hey!
20:48Hey!
20:49How are you?
20:51It's coming together!
20:53Yes!
20:54Oh, it's so pretty!
20:55Yeah.
20:56I was very indecisive of the direction I wanted to go, but I'm feeling very confident.
21:02It looks great.
21:03I feel so good.
21:04I feel like the adjustments we made made such a difference in the best way.
21:08So this is staying up how?
21:10Um, there's gonna be a tie around.
21:13Okay.
21:14The top.
21:15Corset's gonna be right here.
21:17You're gonna be able to do a corset in two and a half hours?
21:21I believe.
21:22Yeah.
21:23I think we can do it.
21:24You look so good.
21:27Gorgeous.
21:28Oh, my God.
21:29It literally is with the color.
21:31I'm so happy to see this color palette.
21:33Yes, me too.
21:34How are you feeling?
21:35I'm upset.
21:36Okay.
21:37Your whole energy has changed.
21:42I don't like it.
21:47The client's not very happy with the cape.
21:50It looks like something my mom would wear.
21:52Unfortunately, we have to make the linen dress the focus.
21:57My heart is aching.
22:00Without the cape, it won't look, it won't give it the, you know, ooh moment.
22:06All that you can do as a designer right now is do your best to make a dress that is wonderful and that she looks great in.
22:16Hopefully, it's enough.
22:18I'm just, I'm nervous.
22:20I'm nervous.
22:21Designers, when you're ready, bring your clients over to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
22:31Grace and elegance.
22:33It's extravagant.
22:35She's got the face, so it needs to be showing up.
22:37Yeah.
22:38The look we're going for is power.
22:40We want her to look elegant, sparkly.
22:43Well, I have the perfect product.
22:45We're going to use Lumi Glotion for this multi-dimensional radiance that's really going to make her glow.
22:51Oh.
22:52Look at that.
22:53Wow.
22:54She likes them too.
22:55Yeah.
22:5615 minutes left.
23:00I feel like I achieved my vision, but I'm a little worried.
23:04I'm looking around and I see corsets and volume and just amazing technical skill.
23:11If I never see another grommet again, you guys, I will be happy.
23:16All right, let's get our clients to the runway.
23:21You've got this.
23:22Take the deepest breath.
23:23You've taken all day.
23:24Master, what am I seeing here?
23:26We're going to fix that.
23:27Time to wrap it up.
23:29Oh, .
23:30I just need to undo this.
23:32I'm not sure if the straps were holding.
23:35I'm just hoping for the best.
23:37I think that's all I can do now.
23:40All right, everyone.
23:41Time to hit the runway.
23:42Let's do this.
23:43Woo!
23:52Ooh.
23:53Ooh.
23:54Ooh.
23:55Ooh.
24:00Hi, designers.
24:01Hi.
24:02Welcome back to the runway.
24:03This week, your challenge was to create a glamorous evening wear look that would inspire your clients to walk their worth on the runway.
24:12But tonight, you'll also be proving your own worth.
24:16Because while confidence never goes out of style, in this competition, sometimes you're in and sometimes you're out.
24:24Say hello to your judges.
24:27Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
24:29Hey, designers.
24:30Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
24:34Hi, everybody.
24:35And meet the creative visionary behind the luxury women's wear brand, Greta Constantine.
24:42My dear friend, Kirk Bickersgill.
24:46Hello, designer.
24:47Hi.
24:48I love Greta Constantine.
24:51Kirk is just an amazing designer.
24:54We'll be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
24:57Let's get this show started.
25:03I love that.
25:04I am super proud of what I'm seeing on the runway right now because it's something that I'm not used to making.
25:11And it turned out exactly how I envisioned it.
25:14Yes.
25:17I'm trying to surprise them with something new.
25:19All the time.
25:28I feel like my design is really well executed.
25:30The piping of the bustier pops with the houndstooth and the deep V brings that extra drama that I wanted.
25:36Yeah.
25:37That fit is amazing.
25:39This challenge was to be bold and empowering, and this dress just gives that.
25:45Foster.
25:46Foster.
25:47Foster.
25:48I'm so proud of this garment.
25:50I feel I really show the judges who I am.
25:53It looks minimal, elegant, and like everything the client wanted.
25:58It's expensive.
25:59This week was just a reintroduction of myself.
26:07My design is completely opposite of the expectations you have for an evening look.
26:12And I think Gemma is absolutely selling it.
26:15I need to try this perfectly.
26:16It feels modern and fun.
26:17I think the hat and the gloves brings it all together and completes the story.
26:23I'm super pleased.
26:29Yes, there's flaws, but I feel that I really show what I can do under pressure.
26:35Yes, girl.
26:36The most important part is the client is obsessed.
26:40In anything I design, I want my models to always feel beautiful, so my heart is sinking.
26:50I'm seeing wrinkles.
26:53She looks very uncomfortable and uncertain.
26:56And I'm really regretting doing a simple A-line because without the cape, it's boring.
27:06Oh, my.
27:07Yes.
27:08Mother.
27:09She looks incredible.
27:12Wow.
27:14This red velvet lace-up bodice corset is so good.
27:19Whoever did it, it's fabulous.
27:22Chef's kiss.
27:23Okay, little feather.
27:26Jacqueline looks happy.
27:29She looks confident, so I feel like I delivered.
27:33I do see the judges smiling, so that's a good sign.
27:46I really love the silhouette that I went for with this look.
27:49The way that I played with volume and proportion was really interesting.
27:52Yes.
27:53Take it all in.
27:54I love the bow shook.
27:55Oh, wow.
27:56I really wanted to show sharp tailoring and what I can do with cotton fabric.
28:09It's architectural without being too stiff.
28:11So many beautiful details.
28:13And this is a true reflection of who I am.
28:16Well done, Charles.
28:17I think I deserve to be in the top this week.
28:23Wow.
28:24Watching Emily walk down the runway, she looks strong.
28:27She looks confident.
28:29She's nailing it.
28:30The neckline is so beautiful.
28:32It's so beautiful.
28:33I want to show the judges that I'm capable of a high fashion evening wear look with drama,
28:39but also with my client's wishes.
28:42Yes.
28:43Designers, please step up to the runway.
28:50We saw some really strong evening wear looks tonight.
28:55But, as you know, only one of you can be the winner, and one of you will be out.
29:02When I call your name, please step forward.
29:05Namo.
29:06Charles.
29:07Little Feather.
29:08Delaine.
29:09Cat.
29:10Ro.

29:55A.
29:56A.
29:57A.
29:58A.
29:59It was beautiful.
30:01My influencer wanted something that is very minimal,
30:06with a bit of edge to it.
30:07For me, I do pleats a lot.
30:10And so I decided to make my version of a little black dress.
30:14I thought it was a wonderful symphony of ruffles.
30:17I really appreciated the artful vibe.
30:20I'm a sucker for ruffles,
30:22and you ruffled my feathers tonight.
30:24It was fabulous.
30:26I think it brought out a bit of edge to the dress.
30:29My only call-out would have been the back.
30:31You see this black dress and then at the back,
30:33you just have this, like, gold lacing.
30:35I think maybe just sticking to all black would have been
30:37just, like, a nice way to have that little black dress.
30:41Now let's talk about one of our
30:43least favorite looks of the night.
30:47Cat.
30:48It was almost there.
30:50It had this sort of raw, deconstructed look,
30:53but I think it actually was raw and deconstructed.
30:56I wanted to do a corset nude top that was matching her skin tone,
31:01but it was not working with the client,
31:03so I decided to scratch everything
31:06and redo just an all-white version.
31:09You're gonna make changes as they're coming to you as a client.
31:12It's just the construction didn't work out and it showed.
31:15Well, I thought it was admirable that you pivoted,
31:18and I have to kind of disagree.
31:20I liked the look.
31:21I thought the feathers,
31:23even though maybe they were a little sparse,
31:26for me it added a touch of whimsy.
31:28It was very pretty.
31:30There may have been some shortcomings in the dress,
31:32but overall I thought it was really aesthetically pleasing.
31:35Time to chat about another one of our favorite looks.
31:38Delaine.
31:39I think it really suited your client.
31:41She is petite,
31:42but I think you really elongated her silhouette.
31:44Because she has a small frame,
31:46I wanted her to have a bit of structure.
31:48One of her profile pictures,
31:50she had a little interesting bustier sort of detail,
31:52so I really played up on that.
31:54I can see that you like to use houndstooth.
31:56I kind of wanted to match her a little bit.
31:59That's part of your branding,
32:01and I think that's very important.
32:02I really wanted to use that for the detail of the bust piping
32:06and the structured cascade sleeve,
32:09so that you can see a little pop when she walked.
32:11What you had going on around the bust line,
32:13really interesting detailing.
32:15I thought it was very well made.
32:17Something about sequins and houndstooth,
32:19I would never think of those two things together,
32:22but for some reason it just worked.
32:24Well, job well done.
32:25Thank you very much.
32:27This next look received one of the lowest scores.
32:31Little feather.
32:33For me, I love the glitz.
32:35It was one of the looks that I think
32:37had maybe the most bling on it,
32:39but there was something that wasn't cohesive
32:41about the top and the bottom.
32:43There was a lot going on,
32:45you know, veering on the kind of a Vegas showgirl,
32:49you know, like on a ride.
32:51My look was actually a challenge
32:54because I had created a top,
32:57which is what I thought she wanted,
32:59and then when she came,
33:01she asked for a completely different look.
33:03Working in this industry,
33:04you're going to have to, like, stand your ground.
33:06Sometimes you're going to look at a client and say,
33:08you know what, that doesn't really mess with what I do,
33:10but I'm going to listen to you, work with you.
33:12We're going to create something spectacular.
33:14The next look is one of our favourites.
33:18Charles, you gave us Front Row L'Oreal Paris Fashion Week.
33:24I thought it was a gorgeous look.
33:26I deal with clients quite a bit,
33:28and she mentioned things like a white shirt and corsetry,
33:33and I tried to put those together and reinterpret that.
33:36This is the perfect example of what we're talking about.
33:40You stop for a second, you pay attention,
33:43and then even get literal things,
33:45like literally a white button-down shirt.
33:48I love the juxtaposition of the eyelet lace
33:51and something so unexpected.
33:53It certainly made a statement,
33:54and it was totally original.
33:56I think the sleeves,
33:58the way they just kind of cascaded down the runway,
34:00they were beautiful.
34:01Congrats.
34:02I was really happy with it.
34:04And the final look of the night,
34:06which received one of the lowest scores,
34:09Naimo.
34:10I was expecting you to push your own boundaries
34:13a little bit more this week.
34:14She did say she wanted a simple, clean A-line,
34:17and so I went with a white-based dress,
34:20and I made a red cape to sort of incorporate
34:22my cultural wear,
34:24but the client didn't want to wear that one,
34:26so we were left with just a white linen dress.
34:29That breaks your heart.
34:30She worked so hard on that cape.
34:32Yeah.
34:33There wasn't enough of a wow factor
34:35about the dress overall
34:37due to the fabric that was chosen.
34:40That crease on the linen dress.
34:42I know.
34:43It's like the nightmare of nightmares I know for designers.
34:46Linen on a runway.
34:47Not your best friend.
34:49It sounded like you catered too much to your client.
34:52And you're talking about, you know, your culture.
34:55You should have shown more of that.
34:57She's wearing you, too.
34:58You know, it's a two-way street.
35:00You did mention that they wanted something A-line.
35:02For me, the bottom half of the dress didn't feel A-line.
35:05I don't think the fit was flattering to the client.
35:08Thank you, designers.
35:11We have some decisions to make,
35:13so you can leave the runway.
35:17Congratulations.
35:18Good job, everybody.
35:20Good job, Rome.
35:22We're so proud of you.
35:23Yeah, it was incredible.
35:25This is a tough one.
35:28All right, who do we think should be our winner this week?
35:31Three very distinctive looks,
35:34all with a very specific point of view.
35:37Love the theatricality of what Charles did and the originality.
35:42Charles is really a craftsman.
35:44I love the little peplum on the side,
35:46the lacing on the sleeve, the ruching.
35:49I love that he got a little bit of what she wanted.
35:52There was something really special.
35:54Just a beautiful dress.
35:55And then you've got Rome.
35:57That's just a classic, fabulous little black dress.
36:01He has five stars for me.
36:02It was unique.
36:03It was fresh.
36:04The length was amazing.
36:05I liked the playfulness of it all.
36:07And there was also something about Delaine.
36:09I've seen everything.
36:10It was just different enough that it made me smile.
36:13Honestly, this was one of my favorite looks.
36:15I think a sparkly fabric in combination with a houndstooth.
36:19Two fabrics like that aren't supposed to work.
36:21But for some reason, it was perfect.
36:23I thought the sleeves were beautiful.
36:25I thought the detailing on the bust was great.
36:28Now, who should we be sending home?
36:30Really a tough one for me.
36:32It sounded like they had some hard clients
36:34and hard communication.
36:36Didn't understand what they were saying to them.
36:38Or didn't listen.
36:39Or didn't listen.
36:40I know I'm the odd man out here, but I really didn't think Kat's look was bad at all.
36:47I haven't seen feathers done that delicately before.
36:51Maybe there's a reason we haven't seen feathers done that way.
36:55Tell me, designers, have you ever done a swatch of somebody without ever seeing them in real life and got it?
37:02You have to know the skin tone of your client.
37:04Well, it was naive.
37:05Yeah.
37:06Super naive.
37:07All right.
37:08Little feather.
37:09I did appreciate the fact that she did gold on gold.
37:12But then I found the mix of the shiny fabrics a bit off-putting.
37:16Me too.
37:17The top part didn't mess with the bottom part.
37:20The look was a little too exuberant.
37:22You know, verged on costume.
37:24It was definitely a case of the dress wearing the client.
37:29Let's talk about Namo.
37:30The fabric was wrinkled and just the length of the dress was very awkward.
37:36I was really disappointed.
37:38I was just hoping for something.
37:40Something more.
37:41Something was missing and I would have loved to see that cape.
37:44No matter what though, at the end of the day, it still needs to be a beautiful dress on the runway.
37:50So we've come to a decision?
37:53Maybe?
37:54Yes.
38:01Charles, Delaine, and Rome.
38:06Your clients didn't just walk, they arrived.
38:10But there can only be one winner.
38:13The winner of this challenge is...
38:19Delaine.
38:24Wow.
38:25That's amazing.
38:26Congratulations.
38:28L'Oreal Paris sees your worth and is rewarding you with $5,000 cash.
38:36My makeup, guys.
38:38This means so much to me.
38:41It's incredibly validating.
38:44My design was all about empowerment and I was like, I'm going to take this home and that's exactly what I did.
38:50I'm just from a small town.
38:52I grew up on a farm and now I'm here.
38:55This is so incredible.
38:56So, thank you so much.
38:59Charles and Rome, you're also in.
39:01The three of you can leave the runway.
39:04Thank you, guys.
39:05Good luck, okay?
39:06Yo.
39:07Thank you, guys.
39:08Thank you, guys.
39:09Thank you, guys.
39:10Thank you, guys.
39:11Thank you, guys.
39:12Thank you, guys.
39:13You deserve it so much.
39:14Oh, my God.
39:15You deserve it so much.
39:16Oh, my God.
39:17No.
39:19Cat.
39:21Little Feather.
39:22And Naimo.
39:24Tonight, your designs lack the confidence to command the runway.
39:30Cat.
39:31You are in.
39:32You can leave the runway.
39:33Thanks.
39:34And I'll do better next time, I promise.
39:38Little Feather.
39:39And Naimo.
39:40Your designs were not it.
39:45And Naimo.
39:46Your designs were not it.
39:57But we believe you're worth it.
40:00You're both still in.
40:01Oh.
40:02Sorry?
40:03We're giving you a second chance because we believe in your talents.
40:09However, I'm begging you to really step it up next week.
40:14Because someone will be going home.
40:17You can both leave the runway.
40:18Thank you so much.
40:19Oh, my God.
40:20Oh, my God.
40:21Oh, my God.
40:26This is a huge second chance.
40:28And it's not something that I can afford to waste.
40:30They believe that we're worth it.
40:32Yes.
40:35I thought I was going home.
40:36So I'm super excited.
40:38I'm an amazing designer.
40:39I cannot doubt myself again.
40:45I'm so happy that you all are still here.
40:47Every single one of you guys deserves to be here.
40:50But that's something that each of you are going to have to continue to prove week by week by week.
40:56It's not going to get any easier.
40:58It is only going to get harder.
