00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada, this will be your first team challenge.
00:06I'm immediately thinking this is going to be nuts.
00:09We are going to ask you to create outfits for spring 2009.
00:14What about that?
00:14I don't really like that.
00:15I get off more than I can choose, so I might grab glue.
00:19That's stuff with this project that I totally didn't want to do.
00:22Why are you doing this?
00:25The winners are Sunny and Baylor.
00:27Christy, you just don't measure up.
00:30The finalists of Project Runway Canada will show at Toronto Fashion Week.
00:35And the winner will receive a cover and a feature spread in Elle Canada magazine.
00:41A professional portfolio photo shoot, courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.
00:45A runway to retail, business mentorship at winners.
00:48And $100,000 to start their own fashion line.
00:55Ready for the runway?
00:5614 designers, but only one can win.
01:12All of the runway, all of the runway.
01:20All of the runway.
01:24Tempers will flare.
01:27Temp lines will fly.
01:29All of the runway.
01:30All of the runway.
01:32All of the runway.
01:34It's time for the show, designers.
01:47Because fashion isn't always pretty.
02:00Hello, designers.
02:01Hi.
02:02Are you ready for your next challenge?
02:05Yes.
02:06Yes.
02:07Let's bring out your models.
02:14Remember models, this is a competition for you as well.
02:18The model paired with the winning designer will be featured on a cover and spread in El
02:23Canada.
02:24Now, there were two winners of the last challenge.
02:29This means we're going to draw from the bag to choose from any of the models.
02:33The first designer will be Genevieve.
02:38Genevieve.
02:41Who would you like to work with?
02:43I'm not going to stick with Elise.
02:47You don't.
02:48Talk back to the designer.
02:49Elise, you want to run now?
02:51It's not funny.
02:52It's not funny.
02:53I will get rid of you.
02:55I think I'd like to choose Tori.
02:59Congratulations.
03:01I'm extremely competitive.
03:03And as much as I like you, if I like your model, I'm going to take her.
03:07Next name.
03:09Sunny.
03:10Gabrielle.
03:13Sunny picked my model.
03:18I was pissed.
03:20It's on, kids.
03:22Next name.
03:24Abby Jack K.
03:25I choose Jasmine.
03:27Next.
03:28Jason.
03:29I'm going to stick with Ashley.
03:30Ashley.
03:31You're still in.
03:33Jeff.
03:35I would like to work with Alyssa.
03:40I hate you.
03:41I know you do.
03:42And you were so nice to me.
03:43I hate you so hard right now.
03:44I hate you so hard.
03:47Jessica.
03:48I think I'm going to choose Kathy.
03:50Baylor.
03:51I'm keeping Ramada.
03:53Next.
03:54Kim.
03:55I would like to choose Stephanie.
03:56I hate you.
03:57Stephanie.
03:58You may leave the runway.
04:00The next name.
04:02Brandon.
04:03Whichever model you pick will stay in the competition.
04:07The model you don't choose will be out.
04:10You have Alex and Elise.
04:13Who do you want to work with, Frank?
04:16I'd choose Elise, but I cannot be bad talking or mouthing to me.
04:21Congratulations, Elise.
04:22You're in.
04:23I'm sorry.
04:24That means you're out.
04:25No.
04:26Aw.
04:27Good luck.
04:29Bye-bye.
04:30Change is good.
04:33Now, how did you like working in teams?
04:38It was good.
04:39Good for you.
04:40Because the next challenge, you'll be working in teams again.
04:44But this time, there will be teams of three.
04:49Oh my gosh.
04:51Team number one will be Brandon.
04:59Kim.
05:01Baylor.
05:02I scored on this one.
05:03I think they're both very strong designers and we all get along.
05:06I'm pretty sure we'll kill this competition.
05:08Team number two will be Jessica.
05:12Jeff.
05:14Jason.
05:15My group experience in the last challenge wasn't very pleasant.
05:20I'm ready to go back to just working, doing my own thing.
05:23So, team number three is Sunny, Jean-Bièvre, and Ade Jacquet.
05:30You must work together to create a couture collection that channels the spirit of an iconic fashion house.
05:40You will meet Brian in the workroom to find out more.
05:44Good luck and ciao.
05:47Bye.
05:51Hello, designers.
05:52Hello.
05:54On the board behind me are six iconic fashion houses.
05:59One member from the team will come to the board and take your inspiration for this challenge.
06:04I have your team numbers in this bag and we'll draw to see which team goes first.
06:10Team number three.
06:13Sunny really knew about Versace, so I kind of just was like, okay, let's just do it.
06:18Excellent.
06:19Versace.
06:20Yay!
06:21And the next team, team number one.
06:25Let's do it.
06:26Let's do YSL.
06:27Yves Saint Laurent was like the innovator of so many different design trends.
06:31I don't know anything about him.
06:33And the first thing out of Brandon's mouth was, well, just so you know, I don't even know
06:36who Yves Saint Laurent is.
06:38So you guys helped me out with that?
06:39Yeah.
06:40I wanted to die.
06:41Yeah.
06:44Yves Saint Laurent.
06:45Team number two.
06:46Go and choose your source of inspiration.
06:48Check, check it out.
06:49Ha ha.
06:50Valentino.
06:51Excellent.
06:52Designers, you must create a couture collection.
06:55That means sending three cohesive looks down the runway.
06:59You will be judged as a team and on your individual garments.
07:04You're going to have two days to work on this collection.
07:0730 minutes to sketch.
07:09And in that 30 minutes, you will also decide your team leader.
07:12And after you're finished sketching, you're going to need somebody very special to help select
07:19your fabric.
07:20Go sketch.
07:23Get busy.
07:24Do it.
07:25Who wants to be team leader?
07:27Okay, I'll do it.
07:28I wonder Versace because I like that sort of dominatrix, sort of the harder edge to
07:35his design.
07:36Is our theme like Baroque dominatrix?
07:38Yeah.
07:39That sounds amazing.
07:40Okay.
07:41So, everybody at the Valentino House, who's your team leader?
07:47Miss Biffy.
07:48Miss Biffy!
07:49Represent!
07:50We'll see what happens with that role for me and what happens with the fact that Jeff
07:54is very different from Jason and I and Jason and I are also different.
07:58So, it'll be interesting.
07:59Valentino's a fantastic host to work with.
08:02Valentino's very famous for using a lot of red.
08:05His last show, he sent out like 50 red dresses and I think that was the entire show.
08:10It was.
08:11That was all it was.
08:12We've chosen to sort of homage it.
08:13So, we're totally stoked about it.
08:17So, you've chosen a team leader?
08:19Yeah.
08:20And who is that?
08:21I.
08:22Kim!
08:23Yeah.
08:24Congratulations.
08:26I'm looking forward to this.
08:27Yeah, me too.
08:28Either by default or whatever, they selected me as the team leader, so I am managing these
08:31like polar opposite personalities.
08:34He was inspired by art.
08:36Monet and like all these types of things.
08:38He also did the first smoking suit for women.
08:41Yeah, the androgynous style.
08:43Both Kim and Baylor wanted YSL.
08:46I, on the other hand, knew nothing but we ended up getting, getting, they don't even
08:51know their name.
08:52Let's just go look at fabric.
08:53Where are we going?
08:54Brian had mentioned that we were going to go meet some special people to get some special
09:09fabric.
09:10Just don't look down.
09:12We thought we were going to go do some fabulous place that sold beads and stuff that we want
09:17to use, you know, to do couture.
09:20We're all excited.
09:21We're like, oh, we're going to get the most amazing fabrics and going to be able to make
09:26amazing pieces.
09:27Oh.
09:28Oh, cool.
09:29Okay.
09:30Hello designers.
09:31Hello.
09:32I'm Julia Greve, owner of Preloved.
09:47Julia Greve is the owner of Preloved clothing store based in Toronto.
09:52She's a pioneer in reconstructing vintage.
09:54Like she's one of the first people to do it.
09:56At Preloved, we like to blend the old with the new.
09:59We take vintage pieces and reconstruct them to create clothing that is truly one of a kind.
10:05This is what you will be doing on this challenge.
10:08Now behind me here is the fabric that you're going to use to refashion the iconic houses
10:14you have chosen and to create the couture collections.
10:17You've got two minutes to gather your materials.
10:20Are you ready?
10:22Yes.
10:23Let's go.
10:24Jeff, how you doing?
10:25I'm kind of like a little dude.
10:26We chose Valentino.
10:27So we kind of made a really quick plan to go for red because we want to be consistent
10:29with that.
10:30The way that we're approaching Versace is we wanted blues and greens and purples.
10:47Anything purple?
10:48Ow.
10:49We've got 30 seconds.
10:52I want that gray shirt, dude.
10:55We took androgyny as our YSL inspiration.
10:59My eyes were just scanning all the lines for like anything black, anything pinstripe, anything
11:03white.
11:04I got it.
11:05I got it.
11:06Time is up, designers.
11:08Good luck in the workroom, guys.
11:11Next, on Project Runway Canada.
11:17Designers, I have a very special guest with me today.
11:20Oh!
11:21Oh!
11:22So do you want to use purple or do you want to use blue?
11:37I want to use purple, I think.
11:39The purpose of this challenge is to create something that is inspired by a design house
11:44that I made from recycled material and to come up with a cohesive collection with our group.
11:50We chose Versace as our designer.
11:52Oh!
11:53This is like your color, no?
11:54We managed to find three purplish toned shoes to go with our purple theme.
11:59Totally, totally Versace.
12:01Put it on.
12:03White, gray, black, piles.
12:06It would be a good place to start.
12:08We got to choose YSL as our inspiration.
12:12Pass those over.
12:13We're just playing with unusual proportions, unusual sizes between the three of us.
12:17My whole thing as a designer is like lots of layers and lots of like sizes, like different,
12:22just like whatever.
12:24So I'm just going to do my thing.
12:26I would love to use this.
12:28I'm down with you taking that bad boy.
12:30Is it going in or coming out?
12:32I can't remember where fashion's going.
12:35Is this coming in or going out?
12:36Out.
12:37It's been around for a long time.
12:39What Jeff's doing is looking very old lady-ish.
12:42Yeah, it wasn't working.
12:45I definitely clash with Jean-Bier.
12:48For some reason, I just get a bad vibe from her.
12:51That just sounds so hippy.
12:53A bad vibe.
12:54I think I'm just going to do this.
12:56I'm just worried about her plain version.
13:00Can I take your lining?
13:02To me, Kutur means precision and quality and thoughtfulness in the design.
13:07Can I use this?
13:08Yeah, use it.
13:09It's definitely a challenge to make something that's old and used appear high-end.
13:14Sonny's been taking a few of his pieces apart, and he found the stain.
13:21Ew.
13:22I can't believe it.
13:24Oh.
13:25What is that?
13:26Is that in?
13:27Is that pad?
13:28That's a crotch.
13:29Ew.
13:30Ew.
13:31Ew.
13:32Ew.
13:33Ew.
13:34Ew.
13:35Ew.
13:36Ew.
13:37Ew.
13:38Ew.
13:39Ew.
13:40Ew.
13:41Ew.
13:42Ew.
13:43Ew.
13:44Ew.
13:45Ew.
13:46Ew.
13:47Ew.
13:48Ew.
13:49Ew.
13:50Ew.
13:51Ew.
13:52Ew.
13:53Ew.
13:54Ew.
13:55Ew.
13:56Ew.
13:57Ew.
13:58Ew.
13:59Ew.
14:00Ew.
14:01Ew.
14:02Ew.
14:03Ew.
14:04Ew.
14:05Ew.
14:06Ew.
14:07Ew.
14:08Ew.
14:09Ew.
14:10Ew.
14:11Ew.
14:12Ew.
14:13Ew.
14:14Ew.
14:15Ew.
14:16Ew.
14:17Sonny, how much ease do you add?
14:21What do you mean ease?
14:22I can't figure Sonny out at all.
14:24He could be passive-aggressive.
14:25He'll come over and be like, no, no, no, we should do this.
14:27I'm like, dude, I'm already into it.
14:29What do you think, Sonny?
14:29I'm thinking, I'm thinking.
14:31Okay.
14:32I will do it with iron.
14:34Sorry?
14:34I don't like to be questioned.
14:38This does not look like I thought it would.
14:40Not happy about it.
14:42No.
14:43I don't know if you noticed.
14:44I've already redesigned my piece because what I planned on doing is just not feasible
14:49with the amount of fabric.
14:51Unless I wanted to look like a bag lady is making some sort of ball gown, it's not going
14:55to work.
14:56I need help.
14:56If anyone wants to help me with my dress, feel free.
15:00Let's go, guys.
15:12Look at all the pretty dresses.
15:14Look at all the disaster.
15:19Really, really?
15:20We have to, like, discuss our collection at some point in the next day or so.
15:24Sorry, Magda.
15:25So, I'm really trying to count right now.
15:27Sorry.
15:28Being the team leader, I think it's just a battle of Jason versus Jessica.
15:32We need to go over our...
15:34Yeah.
15:35Okay, I'm going to go turn this pile of fabric into a dress.
15:38Have fun.
15:39Peace out.
15:40Oh, I hate you.
15:47Jessica is in a bad space right now.
15:49She's really tired and really upset and just so emotional.
15:52So, she's not even into it.
15:54I liked it at the beginning and now I'm just so f***ing over it.
15:57You'll crank it off.
15:59You know you will.
16:00Yeah, I will.
16:01I just don't want to.
16:03You better look fly or I'm going to flip out.
16:06That's all I'm going to say.
16:07Hello, designers.
16:11Hi, Brian.
16:13I have a very special guest with me today.
16:15There is no one who knows more about the fashion houses and couture than this woman, Iman.
16:23So, this is where fashion magic happens, right?
16:35Yeah.
16:35Oh, that's great.
16:36Since this is about couture and I have done lots and lots of couture, I thought that I'll give you some pointers.
16:45Versace, a strong woman's point of view.
16:48Exact tailoring, but it's still sexy, sexy, sexy.
16:52It was super insightful.
16:54It was really, really a fantastic experience.
16:56I've worked with Valentino numerous times and he always had the vision of making women very sophisticated.
17:03Here's Iman, you know, like talking to us about Valentino, who is personally one of my favorite designers.
17:10That's amazing.
17:10Thanks so much.
17:12It was extremely exciting to get that information firsthand.
17:15Yves Saint Laurent was a master innovator.
17:18I had the privilege to have been his muse at one collection.
17:21So, he cut the fabric on my body.
17:25Fashion would be nothing and nowhere without Yves Saint Laurent.
17:29Iman was the perfect person to come and just like give us a little pep talk.
17:32So, please take this away.
17:34Be daring.
17:35Be innovative.
17:37Make me proud.
17:38Awesome.
17:39See you on the runway.
17:40Ciao.
17:40Hot damn.
17:59That looks pretty.
17:59Sonny has been doing the same thing that he does for every challenge, which is make a beautiful bustier and then attach something on the bottom.
18:08And it's getting a little old.
18:12Designers?
18:13Hello, Brian.
18:14How's everybody at this table?
18:17Good.
18:17Great?
18:18Good.
18:18We're doing Versace.
18:20We're doing sexy.
18:21Okay.
18:21Love the color.
18:22I can get that as being Versace.
18:24Yeah.
18:24So, you've got lots of detail going on there.
18:26Strips happening.
18:27Leather.
18:28Kind of really, yeah.
18:29And then we're going to have him on a big full bottom.
18:32Surprise, surprise, surprise.
18:34Be careful with the big full bottom.
18:35Versace took the hourglass shape and made it into a whole new dimension.
18:40The Yves Saint Laurent team?
18:41We're playing off his androgynous era.
18:43Okay.
18:44This is an oversized man's vest.
18:46It's a little bit Comme des Garcons looking on YSL.
18:50Yeah, but that's the Kim in the YSL.
18:54You have to be inspired by Saint Laurent.
18:55Well, I'm definitely inspired by him.
18:58Basically, he's going to have a belt that goes through the back and the back's going to go out big.
19:02Be very careful in the construction.
19:04To me, YSL is a tailor.
19:06Nothing wrong with a gorgeous white blouse.
19:07Perhaps something else is missing.
19:09I love the color combination.
19:11Thanks, Brian.
19:13This challenge has been on my mind in a negative way.
19:16Like, I'm supposed to figure out what we're supposed to say.
19:19Valentino.
19:20Everything that ties us together is the red, fitted, and flowy.
19:25It's a clean line, structure.
19:27It's very sophisticated, a very sharp, elegant look.
19:31And now we're edging it and trying to put our twist on it.
19:34I wasn't exactly on my A game.
19:36And I didn't really speak the way I would speak in front of panel.
19:40You as a team leader, I'd like you to be more directional.
19:43I'd like you to take over the song and dance.
19:45You need to rope these guys in.
19:47You need to have a very strong, clear vision of what it is you're going to do with Valentino.
19:51I just felt that our point needed to get across and across clearly and properly because it's something really important to me.
19:56I'm sorry, guys.
19:57Like, I'm...
19:58Yeah, we need to just go back, eh?
19:59Yeah.
20:00Bring it back.
20:03Is this too girly?
20:05I am the team leader, so if our collection eats ass, then it's my ass on the line.
20:11And then I go home.
20:12You just need to, like, stick up for your design.
20:14I have a hard time sticking up for something I don't know.
20:16You need to come up with your little spiel so that you know what you're talking about and you can feel confident saying,
20:22No, I know that this is Leafsauron because of these three reasons.
20:27Cool, yeah.
20:35Yo, this suede sews like butter.
20:38Oh, really?
20:39Oh, yeah.
20:40See, finally some good news, eh?
20:44Done.
20:45I hate to stress in this place.
20:48My dress really isn't working and, um, I don't feel good about it at all.
20:56I just...
20:57I just really feel like I'm going home tomorrow.
21:02Don't have that attitude now.
21:03It's not even done yet.
21:05It's not even done yet.
21:07I just feel so overwhelmed by this and I don't know why.
21:11I want this so bad.
21:12I just don't want it to look like total s**t.
21:20I hate it.
21:21I just hate everything.
21:23I think it looks bad.
21:24I just want to be myself and be me as a designer and, like, everyone's doing these, like, crazy couture gowns and I'm doing, like, couture streetwear and how does this fit in?
21:41Well, that's just it.
21:41Like, don't be surprised if they don't respond at all.
21:44It's not couture and it's not what they asked for.
21:46But who cares?
21:46It's f**king amazing.
21:48Couture means, to me, avant-garde, well-made.
21:52I don't think that's, like, the actual real term.
21:54But in my world, that's what couture is.
21:57Good morning, designers.
22:12Good morning, guys.
22:13You've worked hard.
22:14Yep.
22:15You will have three hours to complete your garments.
22:18Don't forget the winner's accessory wall.
22:21And then take your model and head down to the L'Oreal Paris Beauty Room and have a fantastic consultation with Eddie and Eric.
22:29Here come your models.
22:31Good morning, ladies.
22:35Can you put it down?
22:37Perfect.
22:37Awesome.
22:39Can you get it on?
22:40I don't want to jinx us and say we're going to win, but I think we're on a really, really good path.
22:46I feel like our group has the most cohesive collection.
22:49All the garments are beautiful.
22:51Yeah, I'm sure we're going to be in the top.
22:54I thought that the YSL was not a couture collection at all, and I had told Kim, don't be surprised if they say that it's not a couture, because it's not.
23:02It's sick.
23:03It's beautiful.
23:06How's it going?
23:07It's not.
23:08Oh.
23:10I don't want to get upset about it.
23:17My emotions are still really running high, and how could they not be?
23:22I feel like I am going to go home with this piece, and to go home on something that you absolutely hate is the worst feeling.
23:30I think your most important thing right now is pressing.
23:33That's it.
23:34Yeah, because you're going to see it's going to come out looking really pretty.
23:37Okay.
23:37I love what you've done here, and that is the truth.
23:41You need to start being proud and feel good about what you see, because then it's going to come to life.
23:46I'm just worried about it, because it's just very different than everybody else's.
23:53I did more of a traditional couture look.
23:57I was thinking more historical, really emphasize current, today, your interpretation of it's Jeff for Valentino.
24:08I'm going to leave that with you.
24:10Wonderful.
24:11I didn't think Jeff's stuff would be so old-fashioned.
24:20So what?
24:21Old-fashioned.
24:22I know.
24:23It's like, what he did today, it looks so conservative.
24:27It's just like...
24:28Very.
24:28Wow.
24:29Like, traditional.
24:31But then when you think about it, and you think about the age of people here, and why they're here,
24:37it's kind of like, if you're that age, why aren't you really successful?
24:41Some people are meant to work for other people.
24:44He is in his 40s, so...
24:47Probably, he's doing what he's good at, and he's proud.
24:54Yeah, it's better, actually.
24:56It's in his shine.
24:58No problem.
25:00It's stretched out a little bit, which is the problem.
25:04How would you normally fix that if you stopped and think about it?
25:09So I'd take it out.
25:10Right.
25:12Do you have time to take it out?
25:14No, I don't have time to take it out, especially with a hand stitch.
25:16I don't really feel comfortable stitching back in the zipper.
25:19On runway, sometimes it's amazing what's stuffed into a dress, and besides the model.
25:25I got it.
25:27Be right back.
25:34I'm going to make your model fat.
25:37I told you, eat.
25:39Yo, this is high-end fashion, yo.
25:41Just deal with it, all right?
25:42I love it.
25:43It's funny.
25:45Don't worry, your secret's safe with me.
25:46I love it.
25:47And Canada.
25:52Good morning.
25:54We were inspired by Yves Saint Laurent.
25:56And we're all thinking, just parted on the side, tight, tight, tight to the head, finger waves.
26:02The L'Oreal team did really, really Yves Saint Laurent makeup, like dark eyebrows and right lips and dark liner.
26:08It was perfect.
26:09It was beautiful.
26:10Your eyelashes, it's amazing.
26:12Gorgeous.
26:16Hello.
26:17Hello.
26:17So your inspiration is Versace.
26:20Oh, beautiful.
26:21Yes.
26:21Okay.
26:22Dark eyes with a sort of a highlight of this, maybe like fake lashes or something like that.
26:27And we'll put black eyeshadow to focus on the eyes.
26:32And on the top of that, we will put this color, between this color and this color.
26:37Let's accentuate the bangs.
26:39Let's put huge rollers in it, just to get some body.
26:42So when she walks down, there's a little bit of movement.
26:46Hi.
26:46Hi.
26:47Oh, that's beautiful.
26:49As a team, we sort of decided that we wanted something clean, fresh and feminine.
26:53And something pulled back, because all of our pieces were open.
26:57We'll use the out-of-bed patio.
26:58Really get this flat and sleek.
27:00Maybe we'll put some brown and gold shimmer on the eye.
27:04I thought it was very Valentino in terms of the look.
27:06Okay, designers, you have five minutes to run away.
27:16Oh, f***.
27:18Is it good?
27:19Yeah.
27:20Oh, my God.
27:22At this point, I think Jason is going home.
27:27He's having lots of problems putting together his dress because of the fabric, because of
27:33the zippers, because the dress is bigger than the model, and I think it's time for him to
27:39go home.
27:41Jessica, I thought, was just a disaster.
27:44Poorly made and barely held together.
27:47I didn't think it was Valentino at all.
27:50Designers, you have 30 seconds left.
27:53Next, on Project Runway Canada.
28:10Fantastic.
28:12I love the whole thing.
28:13How could you be a fashion designer?
28:14Oops, she did it again.
28:16Hello, designers.
28:26Hi, Juan.
28:27I'm sure this was a very difficult challenge for you.
28:31Using vintage clothing, you had to work in teams of three to create a couture collection
28:37inspired by iconic fashion houses.
28:43Now, let's meet the judges.
28:44First, Sean Hewson, Creative Director for Bustle Clothing.
28:49Next, El Canada's Editor-in-Chief, Rita Sylvan.
28:53And Canada's own iconic fashion designer, Wayne Clark.
29:00We're going to score you according to your teams and by your individual outfits.
29:08I think we're ready to start the show.
29:10For polyester, it moved awesome.
29:20Gabrielle just totally struck her stuff down the runway.
29:23Totally Versace girl.
29:24And it looked elegant as well as sexy at the same time.
29:34I think my outfit looks incredible.
29:35I'm really proud of myself for pulling off that leather bustier because that was a lot
29:40of work.
29:41She looks amazing.
29:42Incredible.
29:43I did what I could do with that material.
29:53I hardly had any.
29:54I knew the skirt is really, really short.
29:58I really just wanted to see the back of it because I spent a lot of time on the corset,
30:02on the diagonal detail.
30:04I thought, as a collection, Sunny, Genevieve, and I was the most cohesive.
30:24Kathy steps out of the runway, and I took one look at her, and then I just started staring
30:28at the judges.
30:29Rita was stone cold.
30:31Like, maybe Sean threw up a little bit in his mouth and then had to swallow it because
30:34he just did not look happy.
30:45Actually, I really liked my outfit on the runway.
30:47It was different than everybody else's.
30:50The only thing that could fault me on was how clean it was, but that's me, and that's Valentino.
30:58So, Ashley's coming down the runway, and I'm thinking, it looks so good.
31:03I'm just hoping and praying that nothing pops.
31:07She was in there good.
31:08Everything was fine.
31:09It looked really good up on the runway.
31:14I think that our collection all together read cohesively.
31:18I was perhaps the weakest.
31:19When I saw my model coming down the runway, I felt like I'd finally achieved what I know
31:31I can.
31:32I took an inspiration and made it my own and made it well.
31:35I was happy.
31:36I wanted to create a new shape, and I think I did it very well.
31:48I hope the judges will understand my concept because I think it's really nice and it's
31:53something different.
31:54I'm very excited about my outfit.
32:01I think it looks great.
32:02The shirt looks amazing.
32:04The whole deal just looks excellent.
32:06She's working the outfit.
32:08I'm really pleased.
32:13I thought our collection was totally cohesive, and I was really, really proud of us.
32:18Since this was a team challenge, there is no immunity.
32:32Will the following teams step forward?
32:35Jessica, Jeff, and Jason.
32:41Team Valentino.
32:42For the remaining teams, let's bring out your models.
33:12I want you to tell us about your design and how your icon of choice has inspired you.
33:23Sunny, you go first.
33:24We got Versace as our house of inspiration.
33:27I've put together this garment using a polyester bridesmaid dress and made sure that the fit
33:35was perfect.
33:36I think you captured the sexiness.
33:38Your model really knew how to work that dress.
33:41She walked down the runway with confidence and a land.
33:44The construction on that slit, just the little intricacy of how it wraps around.
33:50Fantastic.
33:51This, to me, is encapsulating the whole Versace thing because it's low cut.
33:56It's very sexy.
33:57But overall, the dress has a sort of dramatic elegance to it.
34:01Genevieve.
34:02This is my version of sexy.
34:03And this is, I think, more Versace version of sexy.
34:06Still totally me.
34:07This is what the challenge is about.
34:09You're channeling Versace, but you're also putting your own stamp on it.
34:13And you did that very well.
34:15My favorite part of that dress is the skirt.
34:18You took exactly what I said to you guys, that you have put your point of views in it.
34:24But it's like, oops, she did it again.
34:27If I see that silhouette one more time, I'm going to take you to task.
34:31Because I need to see more.
34:33But it's beautiful here.
34:36Other Jackie, tell me.
34:38We're inspired by the colors that Versace uses, like bright colors.
34:41I put my own design style into it by the seaming.
34:44I like corsetry.
34:45The straps in the back, the leather straps, are just kind of odd.
34:49Because, again, they're not far enough to one side to sort of make a statement.
34:53They just look off kilter.
34:54When I look at it, I don't think couture.
34:56Okay.
34:56I love your model.
34:58I love the whole thing about the way you've put this together.
35:01The hair and makeup is right on point.
35:03Even the shoes.
35:04Even the models walk.
35:05So trashy.
35:06So great.
35:07I loved it.
35:09You got game, girls.
35:11I'm boy.
35:12I'm boy.
35:12The YSL team.
35:17Brandon?
35:18All right.
35:18Well, I just want to start off saying I don't really know anything about YSL.
35:22What?
35:23Shame.
35:23Yes, I know.
35:25My garment was made.
35:26This was made out of top.
35:27Obviously, a colored top.
35:28And I added my own frills to it.
35:30The pants were constructed from three different pairs of pants to kind of do a stovetop.
35:35Because I believe that he was the one who invented the stovetop pants for the girls.
35:39I guess your team has chosen to go in sort of the more Rive Gauche, ready-to-wear direction
35:49of YSL.
35:49It's not quite couture for me.
35:51I mean, YSL is sort of famous for taking the classic shapes in menswear and feminizing
35:59those.
35:59Yours is a bit YSL means yes, I'm lady.
36:02If you don't know much about YSL, how could you be a fashion designer?
36:08You know, to me, he's one of the most important fashion designers of modern history.
36:15So, how did you miss him?
36:18You've desecrated Mr. Saint Laurent.
36:21I cannot believe there is a designer in this world, especially a young designer who doesn't
36:25know who Yves Saint Laurent is.
36:30Bela.
36:31I took as inspiration the tuxedo image.
36:35So, I took a brights-made dress and this is a 100% cotton men's shirt.
36:40I think you've succeeded in channeling YSL in a very charismatic way.
36:45That's an interesting design.
36:46I was very impressed with what you had done on the top, especially the back detail and
36:52the pleating is very, very strong.
36:54If I squint, I get the YSL reference.
37:00Kim, it's unfortunate that you guys have decided to go the Rive Gauche route because the challenge
37:05set couture.
37:06We thought that it was a blend.
37:08It's all finished couture as we could with our time restraints, but the style is more ready
37:14to wear.
37:14So, you really were not doing the challenge.
37:17You've done your version of the challenge.
37:19Because it was YSL and that was what he had done, we thought it was completely relevant.
37:23It's not Yves Saint Laurent in any way.
37:25Okay.
37:26I think he always designed for a grown-up woman, not a little girl.
37:31I don't think it looks one bit like Saint Laurent.
37:34Not one bit.
37:35I think it looks more like if you had channeled Yadji Yamamoto or something like this.
37:41I wouldn't mind this outfit if it had a YSL reference.
37:45I thought that it does.
37:47It doesn't.
37:49You can leave the runway while we make our decision.
37:52Okay.
38:00The Versace team.
38:01We love them.
38:03Genevieve.
38:04I love that skirt.
38:05Love, love, love.
38:05Love that skirt.
38:05I thought it was great.
38:07And that, you know what?
38:08The skirt looked like her.
38:09You loved the bustier, right?
38:12The leather?
38:12Oh, yeah.
38:12The way she worked.
38:13Yeah.
38:14Well done.
38:14Well done.
38:15Okay, Sonny.
38:18The dress was sexy and a little bit revealing.
38:21He has the skills to execute his ideas.
38:23Yeah.
38:24He did encapsulate the Versace elegant trashiness so perfectly.
38:32Adajoke.
38:32What Adajoke missed was the luxe element.
38:36I think she would have been better served with some nicer fabric as well.
38:40Because, I mean, the front of the skirt did look sort of sloppy.
38:45So, let's talk about the YSL team.
38:47Brandon.
38:48Oh, boy.
38:50Lord, help me.
38:51If I was a designer today and I didn't know anything about Yves Saint Laurent, I'd lie.
38:56Other than a good blouse detail, the whole group made no sense to me.
39:00I mean, his was not very well executed.
39:02But they did bring a sort of menswear feel to women's garments.
39:06What man would wear those pants?
39:09What I mean is shoulders, you know, waist, tailored.
39:12The pants, those two different...
39:14Those pants, nobody's wearing those pants.
39:18Let's go to Baylor.
39:19What did you think?
39:20It's certainly not an eye-opener.
39:22It's not a dazzler.
39:23Monsieur, you didn't like it.
39:26You know, I wrote down, nothing excites me about it.
39:29I've seen it before.
39:30Yeah.
39:33Let's move it to Kim.
39:35Kim, who is the leader.
39:36It ain't Yves Saint Laurent, as we already have established.
39:40And I think she misled her team and they followed her.
39:42It was the most not together group out of the three that we looked at.
39:47One of you will be named the winner of this challenge.
39:57And one of you will be out.
40:07Some of you clearly did not measure up.
40:10But some of you made riches out of your rags.
40:15The winner of this challenge is...
40:21Sonny.
40:26Designers, you have someone to chase.
40:31Congratulations, Sonny.
40:33You may leave the runway.
40:34Thanks.
40:35Winning back-to-back is awesome.
40:41I was actually happy about it.
40:45Jean-Bierre, well, well done.
40:48And you too can live the runway.
40:50Thanks.
40:55Baylor, you're safe.
40:59You may leave the runway.
41:09Thanks.
41:16We're down to Kim and Brandon.
41:19Kim, you did not respect the House of YSL or the rules of this challenge.
41:25Your direction have led your team astray.
41:29Brandon, you've really missed the mark on one of the masters.
41:36Your outfit did not impress us at all.
41:42Kim, you broke the rules.
41:47But the quality of your design have saved you.
41:51You may leave the runway.
42:00Sorry.
42:04Brandon, I'm sorry.
42:06You just didn't measure up.
42:07That's okay.
42:11Thank you so much.
42:13Study and learn the masters.
42:15I will.
42:15Thank you so much.
42:16Good luck.
42:17Take care.
42:18Thank you so much.
42:19Bye.
42:20Thank you, guys.
42:22Hey, hey.
42:23Hey.
42:23Hey.
42:23Hey.
42:25There we go.
42:27Aw, dear.
42:29I'm a little upset that I didn't make it further in the competition, but I'm just happy to have
42:33been able to go through this experience and do what I did.
42:38Give me a hug.
42:38Thank you, Brian.
42:40Aw.
42:40You know what?
42:41You have extreme talent.
42:42I can see that.
42:43So good luck with everything you do.
42:45Yes, good to do.
42:46Bring up your space.
42:47Bye.
42:47Bye.
42:47Bye.
42:47Bye.
42:48Bye.
42:48Bye.
42:49Bye.
42:49Bye.
42:49Bye.
42:50Bye.
42:50Bye.
42:50Bye.
42:51Bye.
42:52After this, I'm going to move to New York and start to sign my collection.
42:56I absolutely love fashion.
42:57That's my only path in life.
42:59On the next Project Runway Canada, everything old is new again.
43:25Create an outfit for a divorcee using their wedding dresses.
43:29The honeymoon is definitely over.
43:31Don't try to be laughs.
43:31I just want to, like, throw up or something.
43:36When one of the designers is called out.
43:38Like, I figured that Jeff would be in the bottom two.
43:40He took the original dress and hemmed it.
43:42I disagree.
43:43And the games begin.
43:44Priority is over.
43:45I don't want to know.
43:45From the moment.
43:46To the right to happen.
43:47You're listening.
43:47To the right to happen.
43:47I want to enjoy ourselves when you are theellingthat.
43:48Be at theelo瘁 where you are the bearer.
43:49Hammed it both in the way and not run.
43:50I mean, they always have a marriage and operation.
43:50You are becoming one of the man, very good to the woman.
43:52Oh, it's theου 15-18 fight.
43:53Theybras left team.
43:54I never want to be married.
43:54Not even.
43:54They just asked theender team anymore.
43:55Not even.
43:56Everyone heard the family.

43:58They're not looking for you.
