International Men's Day was first commemorated in Trinidad and Tobago, and is now observed in dozens of countries around the world. However the United Nations does not officially recognise the day, nor does it have any official day for boys.

President of the Fathers' Association, Rhondall Feeles, says the Association will be writing to the UN, demanding that November 19th be officially declared International Men's Day. Rynessa Cutting reports.
Transcript
00:00November 19th is celebrated by many around the world as International Men's Day.
00:06Yet back in 2013, the United Nations officially designated the date as World Toilet Day,
00:14something the Fathers Association of Trinidad and Tobago labels a slap to the face.
00:19The United Nations, which is possibly the biggest global social advocacy voice,
00:26has decided to commemorate or to celebrate the World Day of the Toilet.
00:35And this is something that we see as an insult.
00:39This is something that we see as a disrespect to manhood across the global community.
00:46That's a slap in the face to manhood.
00:48And I don't think they have any excuse whatsoever that they could give or put forward
00:53that should substantiate them, not adding International Men's Day as November 19th on their calendar.
01:01The United Nations also does not have any day designated for boys,
01:06leading fields to believe the issue runs deep.
01:10It leads me to believe that the United Nations has taken an anti-male posture from everything that we're seeing.
01:18We're not seeing this. We don't see the World Day of the Boy Child on the United Nations calendar either.
01:26These are celebrated. These are events that are celebrated globally.
01:30And these are events that were even inaugurated by a Trinidadian, Dr. Jeremy T. Locksing.
01:36For the last 26 years, International Men's Day has been in existence
01:40and has been around the grassroots globally.
01:43As such, the local advocacy group intends to take action.
01:48So we are the Fathers Association.
01:51We intend to right the United Nations.
01:54We intend to take the advocacy even stronger.
01:57If it means to go to court, I am telling you, we are willing to go there now
02:01because we continue to say that every year, annually, it is an insult and a disrespect
02:08when we have seen the contributions of men throughout centuries in this world
02:14that the United Nations, which is the biggest global advocate for gender equality and for peace,
02:23representing or displaying such a high level of gender bias against men.
