After more than a decade, Local Government Corporations across the country came together for a sports and family day.  All 14 regional corporations nationwide were closed to the public today, and employees made their way to Skinner Park San Fernando for a day of fun and games  Our Reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh was there and gives us a glimpse of the day’s events.

00:29the ministry's head office and the URP each had teams represent them on Friday

00:34as the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government hosted a sports and family day for all of its employees.

00:42Corporations nationwide were closed to facilitate the day of fun, games, togetherness and a little bit of competition.

00:50Local government, there's been the last set of people to get to have fun.

00:55We are always being called out when there is flood, when there is some emergency, when there is something to assist somebody else.

01:05Line Minister Khadija Amin inspected the teams and saw 16 of them march past the judges

01:12to the sound of music and the chairs of their peers and family.

01:41I think it's important for team building for all our regional corporation employees

01:55who work hard all year to build this camaraderie and today we had 16 teams.

02:11Some corporations had a bigger turnout than others, bigger

02:41performances too, but one thing was equal amongst those that came out.

02:46Their efforts were well displayed, well received and all deserving of applause.
