Over in Tobago, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is calling on Tobagonians to support local. Mr. Augustine spoke during World Food Day activities at the Food Hub, Shaw Park Tobago on Wednesday afternoon. Elizabeth Williams was there and has this report.

00:05You don't know what they're putting into it.
00:07Support homegrown products that are better for your health,
00:13that you can trace the production of those foods
00:18from the work of the local farmer all the way to your table.
00:24World Food Day celebrations took place at the Shore Park Food Hub for the past two days.
00:30With fruits, vegetables, wildlife, and other displays at Boots on hand,
00:36Mr. Augustine said access to quality food remains paramount.
00:41Having access to quality food is a human right.
00:46And no society can truly be developed if we don't have a secured access to quality food.
00:54And he emphasized there must be a focus on the production of quality foods in Tobago.
01:01We cannot compete with most territories in the world insofar as extensive farming
01:08because we just don't have the land space.
01:12We perhaps can't compete with all of those large trawlers that pass through our waters,
01:21capturing as much of our fish stock as they can.
01:24But where we can compete is that we can compete on quality of what we produce.
01:32We can compete for some niche products.
