What is a man? What does it mean to be a man? What is the value of a man? These were some of the questions put to both men and women today, as Trinidad and Tobago commemorated International Men's Day. Rynessa Cutting has more.
00:00There's a popular saying, a man is just a man. But if you ask the people in their lives, be it their sons, brothers or wives, you'll find they mean much more.
00:11They are very good men out there. And my husband is really one of them because he's a good protector and a good provider. And this is something that I've always admired about him.
00:26I would like to wish all the men a very, very happy day. And I think men are valuable. They are very important. They're important because they are the father figures. And they can help to keep a home, you know, to make a home and to keep it and so on. I think men are very important.
00:53I would like to wish my husband a very happy day because I know he loves me unconditionally. He's an excellent father, a great husband, a good provider. And I love him dearly.
01:11My husband was and is a good provider. My husband loves his children. And when a man loves his children and he loves his family, he puts his family first.
01:25And because of that today, we, after 49 years, come next month, the 11th, I can say that God chose well or he helped me to choose well.
01:43He gave us all that we needed. We were not rich. We still are not rich. But we have that love for each other. We respect each other.
01:58Boy children, they look up, they want to be like their dad. I have seen it happening as principal, teacher in the classroom and so forth. So we look forward to them. We always look forward to them for their protection and the breadwinners of the family as we know women.
02:15But today we live in a ladylike world. So the woman, but I don't feel like it could ever be equal enough to which we need the men in our lives.
02:26So you would say a good man is a man of God?
02:29Of course. You must be a believer in your Creator God for your very being.
02:37Yes. You first have to hold on to the Constitution given you, which is the Ten Commandments. Everything flows from that afterwards.
02:55I'm also a minister of the gospel. Because of that, we live by faith. We learn to respect. We learn to honor. We learn to give. And in this time, where it's Men's International Day, we want to celebrate men as men who will fear God, men who will love their wives, who will be there for their children, who will have the confidence and uplift and do what is right in this time and season.
03:24Just for today, but as long as they live, then you can show that towards the world that we are caring men. Not men of war, but men of peace.
03:34To all the men in Trinidad and Tobago, I want to say Happy International Men's Day coming from Pastor Bernard Lewis, a member of the P.A.W.I. and because of the W.S. Indies, Trinidad and Tobago. Bless you.
03:45Happy International Men's Day.
03:48Happy International Men's Day to all the men in the world.
