The Soca Warriors are primed and ready for the Gold Cup on Sunday.

T&T continued their preparations for Sunday opener against the United States with a session at Santa Clara Youth Park.

00:16Warriors are primed and ready for Gold Cup on Sunday TNT continue their
00:21preparations for Sunday's opener against United States with a session at Santa
00:26Clara Youth Park well as you can hear it's an intense session with enthusiasm
00:31high following the CONCACAF World Cup draw and head coach Dwight York gave his
00:36thoughts on the draw and the Gold Cup that is to come it will be a mini
00:43Caribbean Cup for a direct spot in next year's World Cup as the SoCo Warriors
00:48will have to get the better of three other Caribbean nations and head coach
00:52Dwight York is intrigued and eager to face the challenge it's a very exciting
00:57time it's a very exciting group to be in as well certainly with Jamaica coming to
01:04the party as we know what they bring to the certainly to the group and we got
01:08Kurosawa who's also a very good team led by Dick Abacat who's obviously a well
01:16respected manager over the years and certainly have a lot in the locker still
01:21to to offer I'm sure that's a game or a team that will be playing close attention
01:28to and of course Bermuda who we have some runnings with over the years so overall
01:34either way it's it's a great group for us a group that we embrace a group that we
01:39look forward to competing with and we know whoever has to qualify has to be at
01:45the best because it's a group that you can't take lightly despite the excitement
01:49and intrigue with the World Cup draw York says that the immediate focus is with
01:53upcoming Gold Cup but at the moment we are fully focused certainly on the American
01:59game in the Gold Cup so we need to make sure and stay focused on that and we
02:04certainly have you know the World Cup in behind our minds in terms of what we're
02:11trying to achieve in that and the planning will soon come into progress to
02:15that but at the moment the Gold Cup is at the top of our of our list and we we
02:19expected to be competing in that that from all front the Gold Cup is something
02:24very traditional we haven't been able to progress outside of the group stage for
02:29quite some time we want to try and do that but we have some challenges ahead and
02:34America does present probably the biggest test of all of it and so we got to make
02:38sure we get ready and prepare for that particular challenge despite being
02:42thousands of miles away from whom York wants the wave of soccer Warriors support
02:47to continue I think it's so important for us you know I like I keep saying that
02:52we are such a small country we need all the support that we can get we've seen
02:56football rise certainly at the St Kitts Nevis game certainly back in the
03:02stadium seeing you know 20 plus thousand people coming out and support that's
03:06exactly what we will need to go to be going forward and to push this team
03:10forward the support has been immense we need that to continue the players really
03:15love having the the people and the fans back home supporting the team the players
03:21getting to know the fans the fans getting to know the new players a new era as I
03:25call it it's an exciting time in Toronto and Tobago football and we wanted to to
03:30we wanted to remain exciting and we certainly want to make sure that we
03:34entertain along the way but most importantly win football matches Terence
03:38Clark TV six sport but the World Cup qualification group now knowing the
03:43Warriors can now focus fully on the Gold Cup which kicks off on Sunday and TNT
03:49will kick off their campaign with the biggest match against host the United
03:52States and one man who is familiar with the opponent is American born TNT
03:56national Johnny fortune fortune who plays in the MLS with Atlanta United it
04:01touched on the opener and the importance of the cup yeah I think it's very
04:07important that we focus on the Gold Cup ahead of us now and then after that it
04:11will require a different set of focus to know that we we have very tough
04:16opponents coming up no matter who we face in the local qualifiers so this will
04:21be a good test for us not just for the Gold Cup but going forward for the rest of
04:24the year to know how we stay in the World Cup qualifiers what's it like preparing
04:30all for the US there at home obviously it's always an opportunity to look forward to
04:36when we have to play the US especially in a tournament like that so much are you
04:39looking forward to that yeah it always is a great feeling because it shows how
04:43you match up against the bigger teams in the region but at the end of the day
04:48we're going to the game with the belief that we can we can get a result that that
04:53goes our way and no matter what we'll work as hard as we can to put the best
04:57effort down and to win the game
