00:00And in leading, I need you to do three things.
00:04One, ensure you take up space.
00:08Do not apologize for your brilliance
00:10when you're in a room such as this one.
00:13Two, to use your voice and to speak with conviction
00:18even when it shakes.
00:20And three, to lift other women up as you climb
00:24because success means very little
00:27if we do not create pathways
00:30for others to rise alongside us.
00:33Serisha Hackett, the Secretary of Education
00:36addressed the young women gathered at the event,
00:39telling them that the future begins
00:41with their actions and decisions.
00:45Each of you, young ladies, carry within you
00:49a brilliance that this world definitely needs.
00:53Yet, too often, society tries to define
00:58your and our potential, set limits to our dreams
01:04and tell us what is appropriate for women to achieve.
01:08But I want you to know, I need you to know rather,
01:11that your aspirations, that our aspirations are valid,
01:17that they must be ambitious and powerful,
01:20and that our presence as women is necessary.
01:25Keegan Dinoon, the Program Administrator
01:27for the YES Program, emphasized that the day served
01:30as a call to action for young women,
01:33encouraging them to step forward and lead.
01:37Today is not just about inspiring words.
01:41It's a call to action.
01:43The team accelerate action.
01:47It's not just a phrase.
01:49It's a mandate.
01:50It reminds us that the progress that we want
01:53is something that we cannot afford to wait upon.
01:57Success does not wait.
01:59And Tobago cannot wait to invest
02:02in the limitless potential of its young people.
