00:00to have you back oh yeah um uh by the way patriots will get the bengals without jamar chase it seems
00:08like uh i mean there is an appeal and maybe maybe he gets uh appealing what uh appealing what yeah
00:17i mean is that the lowest of the low yeah i mean i would rather for somebody just come still on me
00:23punch me in the face but i think if you spit on somebody that's the lowest the lowest is very
00:28disrespectful so kudos to jaylen ramsey because if it was me it'd have been on site as well so i'd
00:34have been outside the locker waiting for it absolutely you know what i mean so i think
00:39you know what made it worse is he tried to lie about it it's cameras and phone 5d everywhere
00:44you can't get away with nothing nowadays you know what i mean so you can't do that and go out there
00:48and lie about it so i think that just compounded the situation and um you know it's just something
00:53that he should know better being one of the stars of the league man you don't know spitting somebody's
00:58face that's just like you deserve an ass whooping for that what's all day long the thing i i you
01:04know i always love to have you and talk about like a guy like jamar chase now that you know he's not
01:10playing what's that do for your like mindset especially as a pass defense and especially as
01:16a corner i mean for for me because i knew that would have probably been my job to cover him you know
01:22what i mean going in and covering the number one guy so it's like having to refocus and okay now how
01:27do i get up for the next guy because i always look forward to going against the number one guy so you
01:32don't want to play down you got to play you you still got to play up but sometimes it gets hard you
01:37know because you know the other guys less than right you know what i mean but they don't have their
01:41quarterback so you could look at it as a stat game that's where they let's say i can't get fine now
01:47that's where all the bets go on in within the locker room with the dbs you know what i mean say
01:51hey i bet you i get this pig weaves in there putting in the pot you know just to go out there
01:55and still compete and make the game fun but this should be an easy way especially when they don't
01:59have you know now their top receivers because i think that was the only way that they had a chance
02:04to be in the game anyway you know with somebody like jamar chase so this should be another you know
02:09easy win uh for the patriots and setting them up for hopefully a buy in the playoffs
02:15when it comes to injuries are you expecting that a lot of guys will be back you look at what
02:20happened against the bucks then jets without kashaun booty now you've got milton williams out
02:25ramondre stevenson going to this bangles game would you make sure that guys are back or if it's going
02:30to be an easy one keep guys out i would i would sit the guys out as long as i could because this is a
02:36game that you should win even with the backups you know what i mean the cincinnati isn't a very good
02:40football team they're they're missing their top guys so you sit the guys out don't rush them
02:45back at all you know i mean this is it's not that important you're sitting in a great position right
02:49now and yeah leave the guys sit there because man if you don't beat the cincinnati uh bingo something
02:55is wrong you know i mean that's a problem ty when we talk about christian gonzalez and you know we
03:01watch the games and obviously we don't know if he's in there saying hey vapes put me on the best guy
03:07or move me around is is it is it difficult because i never see him inside right so is it more difficult
03:16if you're an outside guy to travel and say okay we need you to cover a guy inside or is that something
03:22that you should be able to do if you're at that level if you're at that level that's something that
03:27you should be able to do and uh of course when you're going inside you have more option routes
03:32you know from the guys when you have your you know your edelman's and your troy brown's and
03:37your west welker so it's a thing in the inside what you call the option route so they they go
03:42opposite of your leverage but again if you're the top guy and if you want to get the bag you got to
03:48be able to play every position whether it's left right some people are more comfortable playing on
03:53the right side than the left side but if you want to be that guy you have to go to the inside so
03:58for example when i played of course i'm covering queshawn most of the game but on third down i got
04:04to go on the inside because we know the ball is going to wayne crevette right so i had to learn and
04:09adjust like that but again i wanted that challenge so i think christian gonzalez he definitely has the
04:14ability to go do it it's does he want to do what's missing out though because even like whether it's a
04:20sauce gardener who is the highest paid corner or patrick sertain jr some of these other guys i feel like
04:27you're you don't see that as much from corners nowadays where is that getting lost is it getting
04:35lost in college is it getting lost in the nfl it has to be getting lost in the nfl and i think
04:39whatever system that you're playing in and i think uh you know and in my opinion when you know we had
04:46the the corners out there like myself charles woodson uh uh champ bailey deon sanders rod woodson
04:52we wanted that challenge to be the number one guy you always tried to find a way to match up with the
04:57number one guy it's still been a lot of great corners that they played left and right i mean
05:01let's take seattle for instance i think richard sermon is a great cornerback but he primarily stayed
05:05to the left right you know what i mean and that's where he was more comfortable at you know played
05:10with asante samuel you know a great corner hall of fame numbers but guess what he liked playing
05:14on the left because it's different footwork you know over there so i kind of trained myself to be
05:19able to go both sides and so it wouldn't it would never be a problem if i had to go over there and
05:26cover somebody uh you know on the right side of the field you know what i mean so i think it's a
05:31it's a matter of preference and a matter of competing and do you want it in my opinion you
05:36know what i mean so i think christian gonzalez definitely has the talent but you have to go and
05:41tell coach vrabel that i want to be that guy because you have a target on your back when you're making
05:46the big money and if any receivers out there getting 100 yards they're pointing at you same
05:51thing with the quarterback it's going to all fall on you so in the secondary the big name guy who has
05:57the most responsibility is going to have a target on his back and everybody don't want that what do
06:02you think the target on drake may's back is right now oh you know what mvp i mean that that's the so
06:08people are looking at him you know and he's in that type of conversation right now i think he's
06:12and garner the respect from uh opposing defense and say hey we got to play against this dude but
06:18again for me i always looked at it as hey i gotta cover the receiver i don't give a damn who the
06:23quarterback is you know if i got the receiver cover what gooder is the quarterback if he can't get it
06:29through me you know what i mean so that was my mindset but again drake made the way he distributes
06:34the ball and he places it especially the long balls i was like yo that that dude can play you
06:40know i mean i i'm i'm very impressed with him and if he keeps doing this he he will be in that
06:46mvp conversation if he keeps these numbers up when when it comes to the turnaround here uh which is
06:52somewhat miraculous uh do you give i'll give you a few choices but do you give if you had to give the
07:00most of the credit would you give it to mike rabel would you give it to drake may would you give it to
07:07josh mcdaniel's who who would you give some would give it to the schedule uh like like like cam
07:15newton uh but who do you give most of the credit to i would say mike rabel for him to come in and
07:22it was you got to give mike rabel his flowers because first of all he created a culture he was
07:28the one that brought in josh mcdaniel you know what i mean so mike rabel has to get the kudos you
07:34know for this josh mcdaniel's if it was a uh assistant coach of the year damn it he'll be up
07:39for that because he he he's developing drake may like he's tom brady and he and the numbers are
07:47showing so i mean i'm impressed by what he's doing but mike rabel by far is the mvp see i would go
07:54and this would probably shock people i would go with robert craft because robert craft is the one
08:01who still happens you get one guy a nor'easter jersey with his name on it it's unbelievable
08:08but we but we look at the same kennedy's no he whores himself out for merch left but you gotta give
08:15robert because robert is the guy i was gonna say this thank you that that hired rabel right and made
08:22the decision i think ty you talked about this last time rabel when he wasn't available he always wanted
08:27but he what he did was he hired mayo over rabel but he fired mayo and said yeah so you're giving
08:34him he made a mistake clearly on gerard mayo and i had a lead not so long ago giving him credit for
08:40being able to overcome that and but he doesn't get the majority of the credit i i i don't think i mean
08:47no he could have kept mail here no he couldn't or or he couldn't have sweetened the pot good enough
08:54to maybe get rail to turn very able to turn down but you know what that is kind of like who gets
08:59the credit um for a lot of times people don't give because he's so great don't give bill belichick
09:05the credit for tom brady you know i mean tom brady wouldn't have been in the game right at the time
09:11if it was up to mr craft because he paid him all that damn money right you know what i mean drew just
09:16signed a big contract so sometimes you gotta think about bill belichick he has some big ones to say
09:22look this is my guy after you a guy got a hundred million dollar contract so i think belichick's
09:27supposed to get more credit right you know with introducing tom brady to the patrons and sticking
09:32with him because you know if we're not in that position but as a owner if we're in that position
09:39if i gave a guy a hundred million dollar contract guess what hey that's who playing i don't give a
09:43damn what you thought 508 texter is reminding me on the subaru of new england text line that jim nance
09:49gave the credit to elliot wolf uh during the broadcast why is he still here ken talks about
09:56him every saturday like how do you much credit do you give elliot wolf none zero yeah because i think
10:01it's more of a vrabel thing but look at what the draft was with elliot wolf and then look at what it
10:05was this year and i and i think ties ties spot on because we had this conversation before if bill
10:11doesn't say first off i'm a draft brady and then secondly go i'm gonna make him my starter right
10:17and puts drew drew back in brady's probably a career backup and we never know who tom brady is
10:23right because he probably doesn't get this if brady's a career backup then belichick's a career
10:27defensive coordinator because he's no no no no no no but i think bill would have always been he would
10:31have been a great defensive coordinator and then got another opportunity to be a head coach right
10:36maybe five seven third but he don't he don't get the credit for making the call you know what i mean
10:41are change and and changing a culture mike vrabel is a culture changer and he has to get all the
10:48credit right now and and look at drake may from year one to year two that's what we want to see
10:53yeah you know and he didn't achieve you know greatness with gerard gerard mayo but i think he
10:59was still dealt a bad hand you know to be honest with you but hey vrabel that was that was the right
11:04choice and kudos to mr craft for making that too because that was a tough call because i really
11:08believed that personally he liked gerard mayo you know what i mean but he wasn't for the job
11:11courtney had a lead this morning uh about steph diggs and what uh a lot of media people thought
11:19about steph diggs coming in and you know if anybody knows divas you know you know divas um but
11:27we where you going with that
11:29no i mean i mean that's a why that's a wide receiver thing i'm gonna put that out there
11:36we're gonna leave the defense to the wide receiver you one one time you told me you don't get out of
11:40bed for less than 25 no no no that he gonna sit there keep saying that i remember that he was
11:45asking me what my parents me would
11:46that's what it is you said it's 25 grand i mean get it all day get it all day but um when it comes
11:53to steph diggs and the way he's been this season is that maturity is that uh a guy who
12:01needs to you know to be able to act differently in order to be in the league the next bunch of
12:08years like what or is that just we're being fooled by he's always like this first year i i think it's
12:14experience and maturity at this point you know i think uh you know coming to new england all the
12:19you know negative things that was surrounding them the speculation you know in the off season you
12:24know enjoying themselves he said you know what i gotta play it straight now his personal life is out
12:28on display you know from you know just having a new child with a superstar uh in cardi b so i think
12:36he's he's doing a great job of of just keeping his head down and playing football you know what i
12:41mean this was before he was that guy he was you know loud you know he he was the typical receiver
12:47yeah but i think over time and with the experience now he said you know what this is about playing
12:52football right now and this is about leaving legacy i got an opportunity to rewrite some of the
12:58things that were you know assumed about me or what not a you know i can get a championship and
13:03maybe uh you know i'm working on the hall of fame resume right now some people are saying that we're
13:07in the honeymoon stage right now though with steph diggs and that that's how it always starts with
13:12with a new team and everybody loves him and then he falls off and he becomes this problem in the
13:16locker room i don't see him becoming that i i can't i can't see that uh uh either i think again you
13:22know from a maturity standpoint all eyes is on him he understands the culture the new england you're
13:28here now you know what i mean so i i think he's going to be a plus he sees the finish finish line
13:34let's be honest he's 32 years exactly i mean do you think he's on the patriots next year i i would
13:40say yeah i would say yeah i would say yeah because he's not the same contract he's not he's not on one
13:45of those monstrous contracts getting you know 25 30 right but i mean no no no i don't mean that he's
13:51over going to be overpaid i mean that he's going to renegotiate in the offseason that this was really
13:55a one-year deal well what's his number for next year i don't know what the number is because i
13:59think he looks at it i would bet everything i have that he's not on his contract to start next year
14:04i don't know what the contract is shine you know you're 69 million i don't know the guarantees
14:08because i look at it where he goes all right i see the finish line i'm having a good year
14:13right but even if i choose to say four kids he has to pay right but he's probably not going to
14:20hit a giant payday yes he will if he continues and the patriots win a playoff game what are you
14:25talking about he's not going to hit his salary next year is 20 million cardi b probably has more
14:29money than he does maybe yeah so maybe she has to pay him child support so shine 20 million that's
14:37what his base salary is that's what his base salary yeah that's perfect that's perfect he ain't
14:41getting more than that he ain't gonna get more it's not about next season because you got a lot
14:45of catches but it's not a lot of touchdowns it's not about next season it's at the conclusion of
14:49the season just like bregman you want to get more years when you're 32 not instead of playing one
14:55year at 20 and then renegotiating at 33 yeah but nobody's going to give him more yes look at and
15:00he's he would he's a better player and at a similar age when he became a free agent davante adams
15:07and davante adams didn't get a giant payday like i think i think steph diggs looks and goes okay
15:13i see the finish line i'm probably not going to get a giant payday let me play somewhere where i know i
15:19could be here is he over like let's say in you know lips to to the our our creators ears that this
15:27would ever happen but let's say they do go and target a legit number one in the offseason who are
15:33they're going to have to pay a ton of money to like let's say a.j brown or whatever um is steph diggs
15:40going to be okay staying here if you bring somebody like that in and and i think what his role would
15:47be he's not he's he's not really featured right now you know what i mean he's going out there doing
15:54his job so if they bring in a number one wide receiver because he was there at one point you're
15:59going to be 32 33 years old right i mean you have to based on what drake may looks like why would you
16:04leave drake may you have you have got to bring somebody in and see what they can do together like
16:10great but his salary is that it still falls well below the the top the top guy the number one guy
16:17so i think he'll be just fine davante adams is a year older he's making 24 million next year with
16:22the rams and when steph diggs negotiated this offseason the number of suitors was far smaller
16:29than it would be in this offseason because he was coming off an acl injury but he's not going to be
16:33a 27 million dollar a year wide receiver two years 54 is better than one year at 22 but steph diggs also
16:40doesn't have an opt-out like that the contract was designed so that the team could get out of it
16:44right player and he's how many nfl players don't have opt-outs but renegotiate for a raise
16:49yeah but you'd have to hold out you got to hold out like you can go you'll have to hold out they
16:53got nothing you can ask but you may not receive right you know what i mean you can always go out
16:57and ask right so if they say like steph we're going to give you 20 million next year and he's like uh no
17:02i want 28 they're going to be like nah bro you're playing for 20 look i'm going to tell you what's
17:07going to happen at this point in his career if he's making 20 million if they need some cap relief
17:11they're going to go to him a restructure might give him a year but they say you know what we're going
17:15to give you a signing bonus right you know what i mean we're going to give you uh 12 to 14 million
17:20right now
