00:00we have had the luxury and the good fortune to have ty law on all regular season on this show
00:06once again great to have you here this morning and i was saying earlier on the one hand i am
00:12so excited that the playoffs are here the tournament begins on the other hand no monday
00:17night football uh last night so i start to think about a time when the football season ends which
00:21is depressing yeah depressing yeah i was missing out on monday too man i was missing it but um how
00:27do you uh you look at the pats and the chargers sunday how do you think the pats match up against
00:31this chargers team i mean i think we we definitely got the advantage because we're talking about you
00:36know the chargers coming from the west coast they got to come over here now i was just in la it's a
00:41little chilly but it wasn't cold like this you know and i think it's going to work to uh the patriots
00:46advantage of having home field advantage you could talk you're talking about you know justin herbert
00:50he didn't play last week he has a broken hand so i mean let's applaud his toughness at the same time
00:56when you're out there on the football field we don't give a damn we don't care if you if you're
01:01out here you're healthy so they're gonna they're gonna attack that they're gonna try to hit him as
01:06much as as they as they can i can see mike vrabel dialing up a lot of pressures to make him
01:12uncomfortable again most people want to buy but his was for injury and i don't think they're that type
01:19of team that they can lose the momentum and i think they lost a couple games coming into it as well
01:24so i think the patriots definitely have an advantage and them coming into our house
01:28well the thing i look at ty and i've kind of always is and we kind of talk about it the home
01:34field advantage is always for me as a player is so important especially for an offensive guy
01:41because of crowd noise and that kind of thing it might not affect the defense as much you know just
01:45more hand signals with communication talk about how that's going to really give defensively an
01:52advantage to the defense patriots a defense because the charge is going to have to deal with
01:56that crowd noise oh yeah absolutely i mean we feed as defense home field advantage means we feed off
02:01the energy you know of the crowd i mean it's not a noise issue whatsoever when you go to certain
02:06uh stadiums uh like kansas city um seattle it is so loud it's like the office is like wow they're doing
02:15that intentionally you know the patriots they can get loud so the offense they communicate a little bit
02:20differently i don't have to say anything you know to bruski or willie or lawyer rodney i don't have
02:25to say anything all you give me that whatever hand signal it is so we communicate totally different
02:31so i think it's a lot harder on the opposing offense than it is the uh um opposing defense you
02:38know what we need we need a legit keeper of the light on sunday night who is it i want to know
02:43belichick uh belichick uh belichick ty ty have you are have you been the keeper of the light
02:48you know what i don't think you have you haven't i'll be i'll be i'll be too busy in the parking lot
02:53uh huson vodka i don't know i don't i haven't been a keeper of the light yet they ain't call me
02:57they haven't called you yet no they ain't call me about hi i have a great idea for you
03:01you hand out 65 000 shots of corvus right before you keep the light everybody does a pregame shot
03:08you see you know since you done put it out there i was like you know what i'm already in to get his
03:13book of world records for the biggest shot really yes i am you know look it up because we did it down
03:19at the super bowl uh i was in we were playing atlanta you know it was myself warwick done and this
03:25was the largest shot ever took at one time you know a largest cocktail how many people i forgot how
03:31many people it was but the guinness people they was all there oh wow we got the certificate so my
03:35goal is to buy i want to break my own record with corvus so i think i want to do that in the stadium
03:39i think the biggest shot of all time according to the guinness book of world records is wiggy zepbound
03:44zepbound's good for you that'll help you out hey but i want to do that curtis i'll say one day i'm
03:50gonna i'm gonna break my own record and do it with corvus actually i just looked it up 1978
03:57kennedy family reunion hyannis he's too soon too soon i don't think so really
04:06uh we were talking earlier it was greg's lead about tom brady and his he's choosing matthew
04:13stafford over drake may when it comes to the mvp race where do you fall on that uh i'm with drake may
04:20you know i think matthew stafford like i've said all year that he's probably going to get it with the
04:24name statistically um see the name part bothers me like it's not a lifetime achievement award
04:32it's not supposed to be no right it should be matthew stafford should get offensive player of
04:37the year and drake may should get mvp but i and i've been saying this from day one ty they're gonna
04:42give it to stafford because of his longevity the career that he's had because you know what
04:47everybody says about drake may when we bring this up even brady uh he's got he's young he's got plenty
04:52of time he'll get one with stafford he this is the only thing that he doesn't have and that's why
04:58i think ultimately we'll go to stafford and and people make the assumption that he's gonna have
05:03an opportunity again the next year and the next year it's like even when you're going to hall of
05:08fame people like oh he'll he'll get in eventually damn it we want i want to get in now i don't want
05:12to keep waiting you know what i mean so give the man his flowers of course you know stafford he's
05:17having a great year but the jump from the patriots last year to the patriots this year his jump as
05:25a quarterback the position that they are in right now come on man also the team like the the performance
05:32of the team the jump that the team has made right from what i continue to call three wins last season
05:38because that's what it is to 14 this season without really you know no disrespect to steph diggs but
05:46without the the weapons that matthew stafford has right to be able to do that from a quarterback
05:53position is the turnaround is extraordinary and it to deny him that because matthew stafford is only
06:00going to play for another couple seasons right because last year the rams were a 10-1 team and they
06:05got two all pro receivers so that definitely helps his case but i think it should help drake may's
06:11case because he doesn't have though he doesn't have puka nakua right davante adams so it should help
06:16his case and we got a better record you know a bigger turnaround so i mean i think it's drake may
06:23all day long but again when you peel back the layers they're going to look at the statistics
06:28yeah and see all the pooping we get another 1600 yards or something like that but uh his uh number
06:36one fan number one stand shine brought it up earlier other than touchdowns drake may is statistically
06:42better than matthew stafford in nearly every whatever form of measurement you want to you choose
06:47to like if you just took the names away and blind resume them like one is the two seed leads the league
06:53in uh passer rating completion percentage yards per attempt which seems crazy to be able to do both
06:59and then the other one only leads the league in touchdown passes they have the exact same amount
07:03of turnovers one of them has an extra 450 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns like it's just
07:08i think drake may's resume is outright better if you just blind comparing just for the simple fact that
07:14he has a better completion percentage than the greatest of all time in new england it's not just
07:23the stat overall it's happened here in new england where they had tom brady
07:29for 20 years yeah right who would ever think that he would be anywhere in the conversation as far as
07:35having a better completion percentage than the greatest quarterback of all time so that alone to me
07:40gives him the edge right when it comes to the mvp that does play into greg's suspicion that maybe
07:45brady was going with stafford because there has been so much comparison and it you got to take that
07:50into consideration i don't think it's conscious but i think it might be right uh subconsciously tom brady
07:56doesn't want to give drake may flowers yeah uh maybe i mean you know what i don't think tom i know as
08:03much as a competitor as tom is i don't think that he's petty like that because he knows he's the greatest
08:09you know what i mean and then even if you have one season or two seasons you you have to do a hell
08:15of a lot right for people to really seriously put anybody in a conversation with tom brady i mean
08:22that's the unicorn there so when you compare drake may to tom brady or something like that that's a
08:29compliment in and that's a compliment to drake may but it's also a compliment to tom brady because you
08:34said the bar so damn high i think if you listen to the brady cut he credits josh mcdaniel's first and
08:39foremost because of their relationship yeah so i think he's deferential in that way i don't think
08:44for a second that he's sitting back being like oh no my legacy no no no but i i said this to tie this
08:50is the way i said it and i think it was like perfectly the houston texans are 12 and 5 and
08:56they're the fifth seed in the playoffs the rams are 12 and 5 and they're the fifth seed if cj stroud
09:03had matthew stafford's numbers we wouldn't even be having this conversation we would be saying drake
09:09may is the mvp by a landslide the only reason we're having this conversation is because it's
09:17matthew stafford and he's been in the league 16 or 17 years he's won a super bowl he's got statistically
09:23his numbers are great and every he's done all these great things and the one thing he hasn't had that
09:30every great quarterback of his caliber has been able to accomplish is a mvp of the league and that's
09:37why he's getting it because if it was cj shroud shyman spot on and i think uh him and i we didn't
09:43argue but we agree if cj shroud who's sitting there as the fifth seed didn't even win your division
09:48and had those type of numbers we'd be like how are you going to take it away from a guy who's the two
09:53seed won their division and look at the numbers might be a little bit less and not give it to that guy
09:59you want to hear a stat that is right in the favor of drake may and i didn't know this was the case
10:04drake may if he does win the mvp he would be the first quarterback in the history of the nfl to win
10:10the war win the award with zero pro bowl teammates on offense right yeah wow he's the only pro bowler
10:17there it is again that's proven everybody's point that you wow you got to consider him and and to me
10:25i just i hope that they give it to him but i just don't think because when you talk about the
10:31national media and it's always been like that with the patriots for some reason no matter how well
10:36we've done around here it was always a but it was always a but you know what i mean and now
10:43you know with drake may is coming back around again it's like they don't want to see the patriots i think
10:49it's a lot of people that steal patriot haters that don't want to see the patriots have success because
10:53we've had so much success you know with tom because you know they blame this they put it
10:58they try to shade you like that it's all about oh it's the system yeah it's bill belichick's defense
11:04that's what made tyler a great player he is a good player but he's not a hall of famer because it's the
11:12system and everybody else so like offensive players you know the only people that go into the hall of
11:18fame for the patriots of bill and brady everybody else they were just fortunate to be part of the
11:24system it was it was some oh who was it was it was a big guy in the media it was tom brady bill
11:32belichick and everybody else i mean and and that's kind of like you know we get it we understand that
11:38bill is the goat we understand tom brady is the goat we understand that it's a hierarchy when it comes
11:43to any team but but come on man this is football you can't just win like that right you know i mean
11:49you have to have other guys to contribute and have contributed you know what i mean so i just think
11:54that it's it's a little bit unfair i mean that's not it's nerve-wracking but man we have some damn
12:03dogs you know what i mean but i get it tom brady is the greatest to ever do it i'm trying to figure
12:08out is he gonna call bill to tell him come on up to the raiders man go on man i'm gonna get you
12:11i'm gonna help you get seven bill i ain't gonna let leave that college stuff alone come on over
12:15here do you think he's not gonna do that i think that it would be cool if he did man i mean get
12:21bill a job man bill's got a job though i know but i mean come on back to the pro that college stuff
12:26i mean people don't want to recruit come on think of all the dancing opportunities for jordan you know
12:31how you know how that's good karma because you know what bill belichick he's always getting a slight
12:36because he don't get seven right you know tom brady wouldn't get seven on a different team you know
12:41what i'm gonna hire you stay around a couple years i'm gonna get you seven bill you know so
12:47now you got it with a different team so we can put this debate to bed so we can both go into the
12:52hall of fame and seven times super bowl champions you know i mean do you think bill wants to be
12:56coaching in the nfl i think he does i i agree with ty he doesn't want to be recruiting he doesn't want
13:00to be dealing with the nil and the transfer and all that other stuff i think he wants to be in the
13:05league in the nfl he's an nfl coach that's what he's known for and that's where i think he wants
13:12to be because he can coach like he's got to be how does he sit there and go on a monday morning
13:16meetings in the low light film and now he's yeah he's crushing some 18 year old kids in the back
13:21crying and then as soon as the meeting's over the uh they go to bill hey bill so-and-so's not going
13:26to be at practice because he's he's speaking with the mental health yeah exactly i mean it's just
13:31different ain't and you ain't and and the players you ain't got to worry about them flirting with
13:35your girl right you know what i'm saying yeah you the players ain't gonna mess with your girl you
13:39know what i mean so even come on back to the pros he wants to be in the league he don't want to be
