00:00And here is the great Hall of Famer, Ty Log.
00:03Good morning, Ty.
00:05Good morning, guys.
00:06Good morning.
00:06Don't you feel good right now?
00:08Everybody up in there?
00:09Feel great.
00:11You should feel even better because are you around?
00:14Are you listening?
00:15Or are you on the road somewhere?
00:18No, I'm actually still in Florida.
00:20I came down here with my mom, so I'm still down this way.
00:23But I'll be coming back up tonight.
00:25I'm escorting mom back up there, so she's going to come back up there with me.
00:28Okay.
00:28Well, you may have missed it, but Courtney just suggested that you are on the list.
00:33It's a short list when it comes to those being considered as a godfather for her soon-to-be-born baby boy.
00:44I don't know if you know that.
00:45Would you accept?
00:47Absolutely.
00:48Okay.
00:49Man, we need some little ties, little nephews, little god sons.
00:55Man, guess what?
00:58Even I could be Uncle Ty, too.
01:01You know what I mean?
01:02That's good.
01:03I got you, Coco.
01:04You'll always be Uncle Ty for sure.
01:06I don't think there's any – I don't believe there's any kind of financial obligation that comes with it, but there might be.
01:12No, but the first communion has to offer body and blood in Corvus.
01:16Right.
01:16That's true.
01:17That's true.
01:17Yeah.
01:17You got to – as the godfather, traditionally, your role is to help in the religious education of the child, I believe.
01:27Amen.
01:28Hopefully you're up for that, Ty.
01:31Oh, yeah.
01:32I mean, well, hold on now.
01:34What kind of religion are we talking about, Coco?
01:36Hey, whatever you believe, I believe.
01:39Football.
01:39God is good.
01:40Oh, okay.
01:41Football is good.
01:42That's Ty's religion.
01:43Football is religion, huh?
01:46All right.
01:46Well, we feel good because we now know that it is the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans.
01:52How do you feel about that matchup on Sunday?
01:56I feel great.
01:57I'm not going to lie.
01:58I was kind of like – I'm not a Siller fan, but I was kind of rooting for the Sillers to come because I feel like we was going to kick their ass.
02:04You know, just convincingly like Houston did.
02:07But Houston's defense, man, they ain't messing around.
02:11I'll tell you that.
02:11I mean, the offensive line, they got to show up because Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson, they ain't bull.
02:19You know what I'm saying.
02:20I ain't even going to make you hit it, Shy.
02:22Yeah.
02:23But, hey, you know that they ain't messing around.
02:25So, you know, I would have liked to see him in Pittsburgh, man, because you got Aaron Rodgers a little older.
02:30He can't run.
02:31And I thought that would have been, you know, an easier, you know, path, you know, to the AFC Championship.
02:37But I'm confident that we can still beat Houston at home.
02:41But we have to hold up on the offensive line.
02:44Ty, one of the things that we saw a lot from this game and we asked Rabel about is defensively,
02:50it seemed like they were bringing a lot of pressure.
02:51And whether it was from the secondary or the linebackers, what's that do?
02:56And, you know, the Chargers felt like they couldn't understand the coverage they was playing.
03:00When the team blitzes, do you generally like to be in man, a man type of coverage or a zone type of coverage off of a blitz?
03:07I mean, I think you're always going to look at the situation, the down and distance.
03:12But, you know, I'm always going to prefer man personally, you know, is you against the other guy across.
03:18And that's what you have to worry about.
03:20But when you're getting pressure on the quarterback to make a play, you're playing it more of a zone, wouldn't you?
03:28Because guess what?
03:29Now I can time it.
03:31You're not comfortable back there.
03:32So I can jump on the route, get an interception, a pass, break up.
03:36So it's always fun knowing when you're going to get pressure and they can't hold up offensively.
03:42Oh, that's when, you know, we pull our hair, pull our hair back and let's go get the quarterback.
03:46Let's go get the interception.
03:48Let's make a play.
03:49So, I mean, it all depends on the down and distance.
03:51But again, if you're getting to the quarterback, man, I want to be able to see.
03:55Because you normally play a man to man, your back is to the ball.
03:58Ty, you bring up how well this Texans defense plays.
04:02When you watched how the Pats did, the offense did against the Chargers last week, especially in the first half,
04:08this Texans defense is better than the Chargers.
04:10What do the Patriots need to change?
04:12What does Josh McDaniels need to do with them to make sure that they're prepared going into this week?
04:17I think you've got to start off with the run game.
04:20You have to establish that.
04:21Because if you let these guys just fall off on you and you make this a pass game one-dimensional,
04:28I mean, I think the advantage goes to the Houston Texans.
04:31You've got to establish the run game, make them think about it,
04:34and not let those two guys just come and attack Drake May.
04:38So I think you have to have a balanced offense, throw them off, quick throws,
04:42and then take your shots when you get a chance.
04:45But it's going to be one of those drag-out games because you don't want to get one-dimensional
04:48against a D'Amico Ryan's defense.
04:50Ty, one of the things that I noticed, and I feel like defensively the Patriots as a defense
04:56can really take advantage of C.J. Stroud because he tends to make some mistakes.
05:01He tends to be a little bit reckless back there.
05:03Do you see the same thing when you watch C.J. Stroud play?
05:09Absolutely.
05:10I mean, he didn't play his best ball.
05:12I mean, right now, that team is a defensive-led team.
05:16I think C.J. Stroud, he took a couple steps back compared to his rookie year,
05:23but he's still damn serviceable.
05:27He's not the scrambler that, you know, one might think.
05:30He's fumbling the ball.
05:34I mean, you can take advantage of it.
05:35I don't think he's playing, you know, great football right now,
05:37even though I like him as a quarterback.
05:40But we have to put pressure on him as well.
05:42They have a running game.
05:43They have a two-headed monster at the running game.
05:46But they don't scare me on the outside, even though Christian –
05:50what is it?
05:51Christian Craig hit 144 yards.
05:53That's why Christian Gonzalez, too.
05:54We got to go Christian to Christian.
05:55Christian Gonzalez, you got to come back.
05:57They got a store in most neighborhoods, they call it CVS, Walgreens.
06:02I mean, they sell Advil, BC Powder, Goody Powder.
06:06I'm joking a little bit, but we need you right now, brother.
06:10Hey, we call it getting your bell rung.
06:13So it's like I know the concussion protocol, your safety, your play longer.
06:18But come on, man.
06:19What's the damn things they got on their helmet, the bazoo helmets?
06:21You know, put two of them on.
06:23You know, the pads that go, that is the weirdest stuff to me.
06:26Goody and cap.
06:26You know, but – yeah.
06:28I mean, but we need Christian Gonzalez out there.
06:31We need him out there.
06:32So hopefully he's okay to get out of the concussion protocol.
06:35But, hey, man, you know, it go on down.
06:38They even got him at the 7-Elevens in the low packs.
06:41They got Advil and all that good stuff.
06:42Right, that's right.
06:43You can throw the helmet condom on and get out there, will you?
06:45Right, right.
06:45Well, what's the damn thing to use that?
06:47Yeah, isn't that the ugly – I mean, I understand the safety, but that is terrible.
06:52Man, that should be a uniform violation.
06:53Was it Jared Wilson who had one?
06:55Yes.
06:56Yeah.
06:56It looks very strange.
06:58Like you're a bobblehead out there.
06:59It does.
07:00It looks – it does look kind of weird.
07:02Yeah, well, yeah, exactly.
07:04But, hey, man, who was it back in the day?
07:05Was it for the Buffalo Bills?
07:07It was a – it wasn't Don Beebe.
07:09It was a – it was a special team guy.
07:12It was a big foam one.
07:13I mean, it was big and heavy.
07:15Oh, like –
07:16Who was that, Wiggy?
07:17Oh, man.
07:18The big – the zoo helmet.
07:20Yeah, because the lineman from the 49ers used to wear one, too.
07:25Kelso.
07:25Yeah.
07:26Sapobla, I think that was his name.
07:27I forget his name.
07:28But, yeah, I know who you're talking about.
07:29It might have been Don Beebe who wore one.
07:31It was Kelso.
07:32Kelso?
07:32Yeah.
07:33Speaking of bobbleheads, did you see what the Orioles are doing on May 8th for their game?
07:39They're doing Tupac bobblehead night.
07:41Really?
07:42That's how the Orioles came out.
07:42All right, that's because Tupac – I think he might have been – Tupac was either born in Baltimore or lived in Baltimore for some time.
07:49Maybe he still lives in Baltimore.
07:50Right, he does.
07:51Tupac bobblehead night, also second night of the Beanpot this year.
07:54Looking forward to that.
07:55But, Ty, I have a question for you.
07:58Is Gonzalez the best corner since you played for the Patriots on this team?
08:05I mean, you can't – no, I can't say that right now.
08:09I think he has the talent to, you know, be amongst the best or the best.
08:14But you got to say, hey, we got championships.
08:17It's a guy by the name of Darrell Revis.
08:19We had championships with Asante Samuel.
08:22You're talking about Stephon Gilmore.
08:24So, there's a list of guys that there's expectation for Christian Gonzalez to live up to that play, including myself.
08:34But, I mean, he has – the sky's the limit.
08:36He has all the potential in the world.
08:38But you got to get back out there on the field, man.
08:40I'm going to go back out there, man.
08:42Headache protocol, man.
08:43Wait, man.
08:44It's playoffs, man.
08:45I mean, I understand the new rules, but we got to go old school.
08:48They got to peel you off the field.
08:50You have any of those –
08:51Damn right.
08:52Do you have any of those three balls you picked off of Peyton Manning in the AFC title game still?
08:57Yeah, yeah.
08:57Damn, my mom got them.
08:58My mom got them in – yeah, she got them in the storage because, you know, we had –
09:03we had them getting her a new house, you know, once she gets healthy and everything.
09:07So, it's her story.
09:08So, my mom, she keeps all that.
09:10And one time, you know, it's a damn shame when your kids don't appreciate nothing.
09:14So, I had a ball that I intercepted when my son was born.
09:17We played Jacksonville.
09:19He was born at 5 in the morning.
09:20And I go out and I get my interception thinking, oh, man, you know, we had a 1 o'clock game.
09:26He gets in the ass quarter and it was supposed to be something for him to hold on to.
09:31He got it out in the yard.
09:32It's rained on.
09:34It's all messed up.
09:35And he's just out there playing with it.
09:37Man, that's supposed to be something that you say.
09:38My dad gave me this when I was born.
09:40And, man, he done messed it up.
09:42I don't even want to play catch with that damn ball.
09:45It's so terrible.
09:46It could have been worse.
09:47He could have sold it.
09:48I mean, I'd be happy.
09:51I mean, he was a baby.
09:53But what makes you say, okay, this, you knew the story.
09:56Your dad got you this.
09:57You know, I didn't get no sleep.
10:00He was born at 5.
10:01I'm in there sleeping at halftime because I didn't get no sleep.
10:04And then you decide when you get old enough, you're going to pick that ball to go out there
10:10and run around and play catch and kick it all over the place.
10:12But I said, boy, he's selfish ass kids.
10:14That's because he's probably thinking like, oh, dad got more of those.
10:17He good.
10:19Hey, you know what?
10:20If you think about it like that, he was right.
10:22He was right.
10:22We had plenty.
10:23We had plenty.
10:25Most entertaining play of the game brought to you by Apex Entertainment.
10:30Visit 100,000 square feet of pure fun at Apex and Marlboro.
10:35I mean, we don't really have to debate it, right?
10:37Yeah, I think it's pretty simple.
10:38It was a part of Curtis's lead this morning.
10:42The Drake May pass to Hunter Henry was a beautiful football.
10:47You agree, dialogue?
10:48Yeah, that was a great ball.
10:51But I think it was a better catch.
10:55You know, hey, I mean, it's like the run, though.
10:58See, I mean, they're doing stuff that they're supposed to do, throw the ball, catch the ball.
11:03When he did the 37-yard scamper, I like that Drake May, too.
11:10So he's bringing another dimension to it.
11:12So I would have to put that up there as well.
11:14Okay.
11:15All right.
11:16Because you're right.
11:17That is routine.
11:17You throw it, I catch it.
11:19Yeah.
11:20Exactly.
11:20That's routine.
11:21That's stuff you're supposed to do.
11:22It wasn't routine.
11:23No, that was a routine catch.
11:25The ball was...
11:26It was a beautiful ball.
11:27It was perfect.
11:29But it hits you, like, which one of those catches where it's a tight end or a receiver.
11:32Like, it's like a DB when the ball hits him right in the hands.
11:36Like, you're supposed to make that type of catch, you know.
11:38I think the actual blitz pickup on that play was even more impressive than the throw and catch.
11:46You know, granted, he's moving to his left, so I'll say the throw was impressive.
11:50But the catch, it's a routine catch that Hunter Henry makes, you know, 10 out of 10 times.
11:54That's what I'm saying.
11:56I mean, you throw the ball, you catch the ball, that's what you're supposed to do.
11:59So, I mean, you got to just show me sometimes more than that.
12:03But the stuff that you're not typically going to do or see out of a quarterback is to make
12:08those type of runs and get 37 yards.
12:11But before we get out of here, I got an announcement to make, guys, really.
12:14Oh, okay.
12:15Because the Keeper of the Light, God, we're listening to the show.
12:21Yep.
12:22And guess who the Keeper of the Light is this week, everybody?
12:24Woo-hoo!
12:25All right.
12:25I knew we could make that happen for you.
12:30So, you will be the Keeper of the Light on Sunday?
12:32Yes.
12:33Did you bring Rick?
12:33Hey, man, you know what?
12:35I don't know if it's the Keeper of the Light, God.
12:38I don't know if it just felt bad.
12:39You know, shout-out to my homegirl, Abby, Donna, Vigorello, everybody down there,
12:45the Patriots.
12:45I'm looking forward to it.
12:47And, man, this is the first time I've been there.
12:48Actually, to be honest with you, I'll be out there working the parking lot so much.
12:53I didn't know it was that big of a deal.
12:55But guess what?
12:56The people heard you.
12:58The Patriots heard you.
12:59So, damn it, we about to turn up.
13:02I can't wait.
13:03We about to turn up.
13:04I am so happy for you.
13:07And so you deserve it.
13:08Can you bring Wiggy?
13:09No, no, no.
13:10I'll do it at the AFC Championship game.
13:15Hey, so I just want to say that right now, guys.
13:18I'm happy about that.
13:19So for all the listeners out there right now, come to parking lot 4A right before you come
13:26into the gate.
13:26That's where the Corvus tailgate is at.
13:28Because before I go up there, come take a shot with me, everybody.
13:32Just come to 4A.
13:33It's free.
13:34Might as well warm yourself up before you get in.
13:36So 4A parking lot, Corvus tent, come take a shot with me before we go up there, baby.
13:41Let's do it.
13:42I mean, I would caution you that ringing the bell, that can be difficult.
13:46And I would limit the pre-bell Corvus shots.
13:51Like, I would keep, what's your normal intake on a Sunday for a football game?
13:57You know what?
13:58I don't know.
13:59It's a game.
14:00It depends on the energy.
14:01So when we're out there, everybody comes over and has a shot.
14:05You know what I mean?
14:06And I say you run the gauntlet.
14:07What we call run the gauntlet.
14:08You got to take all three.
14:09So I probably run.
14:10I do a couple gauntlets, Gray.
14:12Let's just say that.
14:12But it makes it warm and gets it ready.
14:15So that bell got to be ready for me.
14:17I ain't got to get ready for it.
14:18I'm coming.
14:19Let's do it.
14:20Ty, it's higher up than you expect.
14:22It is.
14:22Greg and I got to go up when it first opened.
14:25And it's high up there.
14:26So if you're scared of heights, don't look over at the edge.
14:28It's Ty.
14:29Really?
14:29I don't like that.
14:30I don't like no heights either.
14:31Oh, dear.
14:32It's higher than Wiggy is this morning.
14:35Which is.
14:39Wake and bait.
14:40Wake and bait.
14:41Hey, you're up there in God's country, brother.
14:43Before you go, you were talking about Drake briefly.
14:47So I want to get your Drake take.
14:50And that is brought to you by your New England Chevy dealers.
14:53Together, let's drive.
14:54And, I mean, you talked about the fact that he was able to use the legs a lot in that game.
15:00He tends to.
15:03He has.
15:04This season, it has taken him a couple series, two, three, four series to get going.
15:10What from.
15:11Is that just.
15:12Is that age?
15:13Is that experience?
15:14Is that the way he plays?
15:15Like, what is that from your perspective?
15:18I think it's experience.
15:21And, I mean, you're always going to go in there.
15:22I always tell people, if you ain't got the butterflies a little bit nervous going into a game, you ain't ready to play.
15:28So, sometimes it just takes people a series or two, you know, to get going.
15:32But, unfortunately, with the quarterback position, you can't get all that type of time because, you know, one mistake can cost you.
15:40But what he can't do is get sacked that many times.
15:43I'll tell you that.
15:44So, you know, as much as I love Drake, man, we got to be critical as well.
15:47You can't take those sacks.
15:49Your offensive line got to hold up.
15:50But it could be nerve.
15:52But you got to get over that, Drake, because we're counting on you.
15:55And five sacks, that's unacceptable.
15:59Yeah.
15:59And I don't know if that's, you can just blame that on Drake or you blame it on the offensive line.
16:03I know that Khalil Mack, as far as Will Campbell, it was just one play that just stood out.
16:09But that's a veteran.
16:10Hey, that's a veteran.
16:11So, we're going to give you a little pass, but Will Campbell, you got to protect your quarterback.
16:16Yeah.
16:16All right, Ty Law.
16:18Well, you are the keeper of the light on Sunday.
16:21Yeah.
16:21And that is at Gillette Stadium, 3 o'clock.
16:24And you like the – I don't even have to ask.
16:26You like the Patriots in this one, right?
16:28Oh, yeah, absolutely.
16:29I like the Patriots as much as I have the utmost respect for the Houston Texans.
16:33You know, their road here, how they changed their program around as well.
16:38But coming on the road to New England, yeah, you got them in Pittsburgh.
16:43I don't think Pittsburgh is nowhere near the team that the Patriots is and how they play together.
16:48It's going to be a good game, but I expect the Patriots to come out on top.
16:53I'll say 24-17, Patriots.
16:58All right, 24-17, Pats.
17:00And I hope that we are talking to you next Tuesday about the AFC Championship game.
17:05That is Ty Law on this show every Tuesday.
17:07Okay, thank you, Ty.
17:09All right, appreciate it.
17:10And remember, guys, 4A parking lot, come on and have a shot of Corvus with me.
17:14Let's go in the game.
17:15Feel their damn good.
17:16All right.
17:17See you guys.
17:17See you guys then.
17:18All right.
17:19See you there.
