00:00Oh Tyler, good morning. Good morning, everybody. Good to be back in the studio with y'all. I've
00:04been gone for a couple weeks, so good to be back. Speaking of being gone, I was watching you on the
00:09Instagram and saw you this weekend with your uncle, Tony Dorsett. Yes, yes. It's always good
00:15to see him. That was my inspiration growing up, you know, trying to chase that man and
00:19be as great as he was. Of course, this can only be one Tony Dorsett, so I had to go to the defensive
00:24side of the ball, but we're both in the Hall of Fame now. That's pretty cool. The man looks like
00:29he could play tomorrow. Oh yeah, yeah. If necessary. Yeah, absolutely. He's a, he's a, he's full of
00:34energy, man. Full of life. You know, we still, you know, have some things you're dealing with,
00:39you know, what, you know, with the head and out there's pretty public, what he deals with,
00:43with the CT situation. Oh, I didn't realize that. Yeah, yes, it's bad. He was one of the first ones
00:48that really, you know, started this whole thing, you know what I mean? So, you know, he still has
00:52this, you know, struggles at times with that, but, you know, when you sit there talking to him,
00:56if he, if he knows you, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's him, but you just have, it's up and
01:02down. I think I also saw you at that show with the great Manny Ramirez. Yes, yes. Manny was,
01:08Manny was there as well. Yeah. And Manny, and Manny wasn't being Manny. Manny was being cool.
01:12You know what I mean? But hey, I wish I would see Manny more coming back to the wing. That's why I
01:17asked you, you know, he don't come back as much, but every time we see each other, it's all love.
01:21You got to see Wiggy at spring training when he sees Manny. Like he is. Wiggy's a different
01:26person when he sees Manny. And you know, his kid is actually in the Red Sox. I believe the Red Sox
01:31organization, him and Big Papi. So I'm always following him on social media, but he teaches
01:36them that hit and everything. And we had Veritek talking about how great of a hit of Manny.
01:40Well, Manny said last week, I think that he would like to be a hitting coach in Major League
01:44Baseball. So I would listen, if I was a manager of a team, I would definitely.
01:48Why wouldn't you do that? Why wouldn't Boston bring him back up here? That's what he wanted
01:52to do. I mean, he doesn't live far from me down in Florida.
01:55He'd be free because they're still paying him, I think.
01:58That'd be one guy.
02:00They talk about like, you know, him as a hitter. Like, I mean, Manny's Manny, but they actually
02:05talked about the way he teaches people how to hit when he played. Like, he would be a
02:09really good hitting coach, he seems like.
02:10You brought up CTE, so might as well ask about Drake May. Seemed like he may have been concussed
02:20again on Sunday. Are you concerned when it comes to the way he played? I mean, listen,
02:29phenomenal player. I think, you know, you listen to Boomer or whoever, and Boomer is talking
02:36about how you found your quarterback for the next 10 years. Is there a concern with him
02:41the way he plays that the only thing that's going to get in the way of 10 years of glory
02:46is a serious injury for Drake May?
02:49I mean, but you got to love it. That's why we love Drake May. The way he plays the game,
02:54of course, you know, because he's a quarterback, you don't want to see those hits and, you know,
02:59that the league tries to protect the quarterback so much that they can somewhat take away from
03:05the game. But I love the way he plays in football. It's inevitable. You're going to get hit.
03:10Sometime, you can get hurt, but we're going to be successful here in New England on how he plays.
03:17But you can diminish the risk. Like, Patrick Mahomes, I think, does a great job.
03:21I think he does a good job of protecting himself. He doesn't run like Josh Allen. He doesn't run
03:30He's not trying to run through guys, but he doesn't always slide, though. Sometimes he doesn't
03:33always slide. He doesn't always slide. But he has to work on that. Can you prevent the head snap,
03:38though? There's got to be a way to... No. No. Because that's what, I mean, that's what
03:43happened to Mike Evans last night. You can't do nothing about that. You're not going to be able to
03:46stop that. It's like when you get in this position and Ty knows he's a tackler, right?
03:51If he gets me and the first thing that I'm, that's going to hit is like my butt in my
03:57back, it's inevitable for me to have the back of my head, you know, smack off the, off the
04:03turf because just by the way I'm falling and the defender tackles me, there's nothing you
04:08can do about that. You try your best to, you know, fall forward, but sometimes you get
04:13caught where they're taking you down and you know, you think after what happened on Sunday
04:18and I really, I feel like he definitely was shaking his head like he was dealing with
04:25something. Let's be honest. Don't you think that it's incumbent upon Mike Frabel, Josh McDaniels
04:32or whatever to work with him on that when it comes to sliding more often?
04:36But remember in the beginning of the season when we're getting out of bounds, whatever.
04:40Or give him one of the big ass gazoo helmets that they, things they're putting on the
04:43helmets now. The Guardian helmet. Is that not the most hilarious stuff you ever see?
04:48Don't worry, man. Where are we going with it? But if that's what they're doing now, give
04:52him one of them. I don't understand him and that is the ugliest thing ever.
04:55Ty, at the beginning of the season, and Courtney will tell you this, people were criticizing him
04:59for sliding too early. And like, you know, being playing a little bit hesitant.
05:04Yeah. When it came to his running. So I think there's a good line between, all right, when
05:08you get out there and you get eight, nine, 10 yards, don't fight for that extra yard.
05:14Dive, slide. And he's starting to get better at that.
05:17You know what? I think that slide thing with the, with the quarterback, they slide and like
05:23you can fake slide and all that stuff. I mean, that is a, that is a weapon in itself.
05:27You know what I mean? That's damn near like the tush push because guys are hesitant to go
05:31hit the quarterback because they're going to slide. So, I mean, you got to use that to your
05:36advantage. Mahomes takes advantage of it when he, you think he's going to run out of bounds and he
05:41gets another two, three, five yards, whatever. Doug Flutie used to do the same thing. He had
05:45like, he's running out of bounds and then he'll cut back in and try to get those extra yards and
05:50stuff. But you know how they're trying to protect the quarterback and is, is putting you at a
05:56disadvantage as a, as a defense. So guess what? Dre may use it, you know, slide. You can slide a
06:01little bit later because if they hit you on the slide, you know, it's going to be 15 more yards.
06:05Yeah. But then you got to be careful because then you get your bell rung like Justin Fields
06:09or that guy in the Florida state game. Yeah. Cause he kind of slided late. And so a guy's coming in
06:14there to hit and he slides late and boom, cracked him right in the dome and he was done for the day.
06:18So you got to, we, we, remember we saw that with Trevor Lawrence and I was like,
06:21they should have the quarterback should say like, if I don't stop my slide early three,
06:26four yards away from a defender, then I'm fair game. This Patriots team, fourth win in a row,
06:31five and two first place. What's the most surprising part of it to you?
06:35Um, how much they're playing as a team, you know, you're not just dependent on the quarterback.
06:41You're not just dependent on, uh, one particular receiver to make the big plays defensively.
06:46You never know who's going to come up with the interception or the sack. So I think they're playing,
06:50you know, team football and that's, what's making them successful right now.
06:55Do you think that Ramondre Stevenson turned a corner in this one? No fumbles. It seemed like
06:59they went to him over and over again. Yeah. He turned the corner, but you can't help. But every
07:03time he get the ball, you got to hold your breath a little bit like, okay, Ramondre, there you go.
07:08There you go. And then every time you get the ball again, because the more times you give him the ball,
07:11the, the more likely that he'll give it back because that's been his history. But I'm glad that
07:17Vrabel is giving him another opportunity and opportunity because he can run. I love the way
07:22he runs. But when you give the ball up as much as he has over the last few years, I mean, how
07:28dependable is he? He's going to have to earn that. You know what I mean? So, uh, he's a good,
07:33he's a damn good running back when he doesn't give the ball back to the other team.
07:36The one area that they seem to, it's not like an over struggle, but they struggle. And you know,
07:44obviously we'll talk you, you know, the best is that past defense. I feel like, I don't know what
07:50it is. I was trying not to go there and be hard on my guys. Cause they say, oh, he's criticizing the
07:55DBs, but they give up too many big plays. And I don't think they play enough tight coverage. I don't
08:00know if it's the defensive coordinator calling whatever defense they're calling, or it's just
08:05guys not willing to step up and challenge them at the line of scrimmage. You know what I mean?
08:09Cause just because you call, let's say if you call, you know, a man coverage, go up and play bump and
08:15run. Why are you always playing off? You know what I mean? Sometimes if it's cover three, yeah,
08:19you got the deep part of the field, go up there and press bell. You know what I mean? Start up,
08:24you know, make them think that you're challenging them. And I don't think that they're doing that enough
08:28as far as challenging the receivers on outside. I mean, they do start slow and, and they do give
08:32up points, uh, oftentimes on that first drive. And that is, I think, and Mike Rabel talks about
08:38it. That's, I mean, it was an issue Sunday. They come right out and they, they put up three on you.
08:43And as an offense, you script your first drive, but even what was that shine? The receiver's name?
08:48No, it doesn't matter to me what the offense, they did, whether they're scripted or not.
08:52You got to, you got to stop. I'm talking about the defense. He knows just being on
08:57the type of defenses that he's been a part of that we challenged you on the outside,
09:03on in the inside. The receivers got challenged all the time. Put some hands on their ass.
09:07No, I'm saying, I'm saying Greg, from Tennessee standpoint, they come out with their scripted
09:12plays and they know kind of what they, so sometimes the defense is kind of like, all right, what are
09:16they going to try to do on that first drive? Because it's scripted for them. My issue was the first,
09:23the, I think it was the touchdown play. It looked like they were in man free and the guy ran an over
09:27route and from an inside position and the DB was like nowhere to be found. Right. And, and that is
09:33the hardest thing. If you've got a fast receiver, you're chasing him across the field. He's basically
09:37going to the opposite pylon. What was the free safety doing right there? What was you reading?
09:42You see a guy crossing your face. So that was totally on the free safety's fault because they
09:47were playing man free. So the cornerback was actually doing his job, you know, playing, you know,
09:52high and on, you know, the outside, you're, you're funneling them to the safety. So the safety blew
09:57that one, but most people wouldn't know that because, you know, you're seeing the cornerback
10:02chasing them, but no, he was doing his job and the safety messed that up for everybody. And that's
10:06how they got the, uh, that lack of communication in the secondary is what's hurting the Patriots
10:12overall. As far as the defense right now, they're going to have to, when they play better teams and when
10:16you play in those tight games, when you play in tighter games, you're going to have to be able to
10:21communicate and not give up those big plays. Well, they're going to face a better defense with
10:25the Browns next. How do you think that the, the offense will fare against them? I mean,
10:29the Browns, they, they stink. Let's just call it, let's just call it what their defense is pretty
10:33good, but their offense, they're not going to put any points on the board. So I think that,
10:37you know, the Patriots definitely have the advantage right there because, you know,
10:41they have a better offense and they have a pretty solid defense as well. So I think this should be
10:46another, you know, good game, a confidence game for them. You know, I ain't going to say a walk
10:51in the park because it's the NFL and they got a guy by the name of Miles Garrett over there that can
10:55change things up real quick, but they should win this game pretty convincingly. You know what I
11:02mean? If they continue to play together, but they can't continue to give up the big plays and
11:06Cleveland, who is the threat? You're right. You ain't threatened by the quarterback because I'm
11:12going to say, Shador should be given a chance to play. You know what I mean? They don't have,
11:15they don't have any receivers. They don't have any damn receivers.
11:17Don't get Greg started.
11:17Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think their best receiver is Jerry Judy, right? Yeah. And is he hurt,
11:23Shine? Was he hurt last year? Jerry Judy's hurt, yeah. Wait, hold on. Let me, hold on. Let me ask.
11:28Greg, you don't like Shador? You don't think he should get a shot? I don't, I don't,
11:31I don't know him personally. I didn't say you don't think he should get a shot though? Huh?
11:35You don't think he should get a shot? Huh? He was, there were, there were,
11:38he was not of interest to anybody in the league, uh, at all when it came to the draft. I mean,
11:46I, he, I, I think he's a bit of a, of an issue maybe for a team. So I, I don't.
11:52If anybody need a spark, look, we're sitting there talking about a guy that has not played yet because
11:59everyone wants to see him play. You at the lowly Cleveland Browns. Define everyone whose name,
12:05whose last name is not Sanders who wants to, if you do a poll, why is we even talking about
12:11Cleveland at this point? Any, anyway, because it's Shador Sanders because we're everybody waiting
12:17to see him, see him play. You got a guy, Dylan Gabriel. Okay. You drafted him higher. Okay.
12:23You're giving him a shot. What has he done? Sometimes you just need to spark, right? Let's
12:27see what he can do. You know what I mean? We all waiting, we all waiting to see it because
12:31hell you can't deny what he's done in college. You can't deny that.
12:35Right. But it feels like he was winning. It feels like the coach is not a huge fan of
12:40his. And so they're going to, well, why are you drafting there? Right. I think it was
12:43the, uh, was it the owner that rolled the dice on that one? You could also do the conspiracy
12:47theories. Well, well, no, I mean, no, why would you draft the guy and not, and all this stuff
12:53and then you, you, you don't play him. Then we had to, he had, he showed some success in
12:57the, uh, preseason. Right. But the thing is they need a spark. They don't have a
13:01quarterback. Right. You traded your starting quarterback within the division. Yeah. Are
13:07you kidding me? Yes. Come on, man. Was he really that great in college? Like I always
13:12hear that argument. No, he's pretty good. He was pretty damn good. Yeah, he was pretty
13:15good. He was, he was, he was in the finals for the Heisman. But if you're talking about
13:19guys, they drafted the guy that's playing, they drafted in the same draft ahead of the
13:23person you want to play. Yeah. And I think that's the coach's thing, which is Stefanski is the
13:28coach for Cleveland. I think he leans more towards Dylan Gabriel. So Dylan drafted him
13:32higher. You know, I get it. You have to do that with you. Hey, look, that's just a business. You,
13:36you invested more in this guy. Let's see what he got. But at, at some point you got to give a
13:42man a plan because obviously this ain't the spark that's doing nothing for you. Cause you're still
13:46losing. So what do you got to lose? Put him in there. Hey, and if it works out, guess what's a
13:52cheap alternative because you ain't paying them a lot. He went in the sixth round.
13:56I got, am I, am I good? I know. Quarterbacks are never good in that round. I mean, I, I like,
14:01are you, are you complaining about other teams that aren't playing their fifth round picks at this
14:06point? We, but we talk about somebody that's, uh, losing, losing like that. Look, who was the
14:11first kick? Look at, look at, look at Tennessee. And I know they got to be kicking themselves in the
14:15ass. You got Vrabel. You got the tight end, Moss and you, you got the other Titan getting sacks.
14:21Oh, I mean, I know they sick down there in Tennessee. Oh my goodness. But again,
14:25look at the first pick. Can he was, cause it's number one pick. Yeah. He don't look
14:30good. It is not looking good. Struggles down there. I would also say, how good do you think
14:35Shador could be if he had Josh McDaniels as his coordinator? You never know. I mean,
14:40I think a lot of that, your situation, look, I mean, look at, look at, uh, Daniel Jones. Now,
14:47he looking like a pro bowler, he looking like a pro bowler right now. You know what I mean? So
14:52situation has, has a lot to do with it. I mean, your, your, your quarterback coach,
14:57your offensive coordinator, sometime a change of scenery is good. Cleveland needs a change of
15:03scenery. They need a change. Been needing a change of scenery for a long time.
15:06Well, they need a whole new state. Like they need that much of a change of scenery.
15:12Well, no, they need a new coach, but I wonder, I wonder if they'll roll the dice. If, you know,
15:16let's say they lose a couple of games, if they do roll the dice and put Shador in there,
15:21or they just ride it out with Dylan Gabriel. Right. And it's like, look, Jackson, they,
15:25they needed a spark. They gave them a spark, even though they lost a, you know, a big game.
15:30He's, he's a young guy, Russell Wilson. He's the veteran. They needed a spark. They put them in
15:35there and look at the team. So I'm just saying that I think that Shador Sanders has that same
15:40ability and that same or around him that he's can, you know, I think people get him and his dad mixed
15:46up a lot. You know what I mean? He's no, he's not Deion Sanders. No, he's not prime time. He's his
15:51own person, but I think he's confident in his abilities and put him out there. I think,
15:56I think people will follow. He can leave. He's so confident in his own abilities that he is
16:01interviewing with football teams, with his headphones on, with his beats on. So, uh, he
16:07doesn't have to listen to what anybody's saying to him during an interview. I mean, is that the
16:10kind of guy you want in your locker room? Look, has anybody seen that? Oh, that's hearsay.
16:15That was fake news. Those were reports. It was like between that and him coming with like a big
16:21entourage. Those were, people didn't like that. And we have the arrival this weekend with the
16:26Browns in town of Mary Kay Cabot, who Wiggy hates. But so, you know what? Classless.
16:33Classless. Yeah. Well, you know what? We'll find, we'll find out because
16:36Classless. Classless. If the game gets away from Cleveland, maybe, maybe we see Shador this
16:41weekend. You know what? But, but nobody talks about, you know, unlike me, I talk about myself.
16:46I drank when I was a rookie. He don't drink. Don't curse. Don't smoke. I didn't smoke back then.
16:51I'm just, I'm just saying in general, when you talk about the headphones, Greg, you talk
16:55about the interviews, but you don't talk about the stuff that he's doing out there in the
16:59community, trying to get people together. He's going to a lot of football games. He's doing
17:02a lot of stuff like that. So give him a chance to play some football. He got railroaded.
17:06We all know he got railroaded. Exactly. He got railroaded? Yeah. He should have been. I hate
17:10this argument. I, I, I'm, I'm, I mean, he should have been a top. I'm in a fantastic mood today
17:15because I'm about to get on, about to get on the Amtrak, but if the guy's a generational talent,
17:22why would they railroad him? I mean, Greg, he built a beautiful draft room for himself at his
17:27house when he didn't go to the draft, like everybody else went to the draft. I mean, that,
17:30I give him that. Not everybody went to the draft. People do that all the time. That was beautiful.
17:33That was beautiful. He slipped. He slipped. My guy, Drake May, didn't do that. My guy,
17:37Drake May, was at the draft. Greg, you're going on a railroad today.
17:40He slipped out of the first round. Okay. And we're all out of the first round. Nobody
17:44found him of interest until the clock was running out Sunday. Yeah. Like, it didn't
17:50make sense. I mean, it didn't make sense that he should, I mean, that's, we, we, we've been
17:55over this conversation. He probably should have been drafted in the top three rounds, but
18:00unfortunately, I didn't say he had to be a top 10. They didn't see, see him worthy of
18:05that, but what was his record last season in Colorado? Uh, we can't do that. Drake May's
18:10record in college. What was his record? I think they won like maybe seven or eight
18:14games. I think maybe they won more than that. Maybe they want to maybe won nine
18:18games. Maybe nine games, but he was good in college. Like the, you know, that the
18:24fact for whatever reason that he didn't go in the first three rounds, nine and four,
18:29I believe nine and four. Okay. So, uh, whatever the situation was, teams weren't
18:35taking this guy and now he's just going to have to wait for his opportunity.
18:40And if he ever gets it, we'll see what happens. And then we'll be able to make
18:43the decision. I'm just the anti-Nepo baby. All right. Like Drake May was eight and
18:49five and he never won a bowl game. Yeah. But Shime identified his talent early on
18:53high school.
