00:00Confidence, you know, if Max makes a mistake, gets a bad start, Park, McElrath, some of these guys could equal out some of the points here going into the final race.
00:10Yeah, I was really impressed with him too, and he's a rider who's emerging. He's at that stage in his career, the trajectory's going upward.
00:16He's had a great 2025, and if he has a great series and a great championship, I think that could lead into a really solid future.
00:23He's got a lot of talent. He also comes from an arena across the background, so he's got good race craft,
00:27but the confidence is starting to kick right now for him, and that race solidifies where I think he knows he's going.
00:34We've got Bordone here on the quad lock Honda, taking some deep breaths.
00:39Just trying to keep the adrenaline down, keep calm, keep your heart rate in check.
00:45Bordone is in gate 12.
00:53Last little bit here of the riders trying to get ready, get their focus.
00:57There's McElrath.
00:58There's McElrath.
01:00Way on the inside.
01:01Boy, he's got to get this one right, doesn't he?
01:03Yeah.
01:04He's got to get this one right.
01:05I mean, there's...
01:08He cannot allow Anstey to sweep the deck.
01:11Yeah, there's 13 riders out there that are thinking, I need to start in front of Max Anstey.
01:15Here's the countdown.
01:17Coming up to just 20 seconds to go.
01:20The 30-second board will turn sideways.
01:23They will walk off the racetrack.
01:24The gate will drop and will be headed flat out to turn number one.
01:29Can a Stark do it?
01:31Anyone?
01:31We'll see.
01:32Well, hopefully for Michael Hicks, it's him this time.
01:35Kopush had it from the outside last time.
01:37Here we go.
01:37Get ready.
01:38Gate drop.
01:39Underway.
01:39SX2 race number two here in Buenos Aires.
01:44And Anstey right there on the inside.
01:47He's going to take the lead, headed through that first rhythm lane.
01:50But he's going to get challenged quickly.
01:53Coming up the inside, headed through the next rhythm lane.
01:55It's the 460 of Michael Hicks on the Stark right there.
02:00The electric bike up to second place quickly here.
02:03We've got McElrath back in third.
02:07Oh, fifth went down.
02:09McElrath right there in third.
02:11Got the start he needed to have.
02:14Who was that, Daniel?
02:16Was that Park or Viney?
02:18Oh, it was Park.
02:19Yeah, Colin Park down.
02:21That's terrible.
02:22A three-race format, too.
02:24You've got to piece these things together.
02:25But look at Michael Hicks.
02:27He's getting a little bit of revenge for that last race where he was the one down early.
02:30Now we get to see the Stark go head-to-head with Anstey and McElrath.
02:35Then it's Lopes and Thompson right behind them.
02:38That's your top five.
02:39And there's Park at the tail end of that Moto Concepts racing entry number 43.
02:44That's the last thing Colin Park needed right there.
02:46But now we're going to see what he's made of.
02:48Okay, started up front.
02:49Had a pretty settled race in race one.
02:52Now he has to work for it.
02:55He is dead last.
02:56Here's McElrath.
02:57Let's keep an eye on him.
02:58We know he's got to get up there to challenge Anstey.
03:00He cannot allow Anstey to score max points all night long.
03:05The first thing he has to do is get around Hicks on that start.
03:09So we've seen the Stark perform.
03:12But what's the challenge of passing one of these electric bikes?
03:16Well, that's what we're about to find out.
03:17And the urgency needs to be really, really high for Shane McElrath.
03:21Because if he spends too much time with Hicks, Anstey's going to be gone.
03:24And he can just lock in and cruise it in.
03:26So I think these next two laps for Shane are really, really important.
03:29If he can get by, oh, I thought he might have a shot out there.
03:32But he needs to make the move right now before Anstey gets away.
03:36Lopes and Thompson hang on to fourth and fifth.
03:38Cody Schott, Kyle Peters, Chisholm, Desprez, and Bordeaux, your top ten here in race two.
03:43As we approach the halfway point.
03:46But I got to tell you guys, the 460 of Michael Hicks, he's from Missouri in the United States.
03:52He is a multi-time arena cross champion.
03:55This is the highest level of racing that he has performed at this level.
04:00He's got a former world champion in front of him.
04:02He's got the reigning world champion behind him.
04:05And he's completely holding his own on a bike that is new to this level of racing.
04:11You can't underestimate what that is and what the Stark is achieving with Michael Hicks turning the throttle.
04:18Michael Hicks, very underrated.
04:20If you've ever watched him race, fortunately, all three of us have had the opportunity to call many of his races.
04:25This young man can ride the wheels off a motorcycle, and it's taking everything Shane McElrath has to figure out how to get around him.
04:34Yeah, and when he is confident, he's pretty lethal.
04:37And, Jeff, you're right.
04:38At this stage, we haven't seen this version of Michael Hicks.
04:40You put him on an arena cross track, and he's dominant.
04:43He knows it.
04:44But look who he is between.
04:45These are two really credentialed supercross riders, and he is unfazed by the moment.
04:49Yeah, and so some of the talk tonight that I've given sort of my analysis is that is the Stark, can the Stark be as fast through the whoops as the gasoline engine bites?
05:03And Hicks, oh, has just given up a spot.
05:07Yeah, he did.
05:08He gave up second place to McElrath, and he comes back through the whoops.
05:11He's got the outside line here, but McElrath pulling away.
05:14And now Hicks makes the big mistake of looking over his shoulder, and that's where Enzo Lopes is going to close in from.
05:21Yeah, let me finish my thought here.
05:22Hicks has found a way to make that bike go across the whoops really, really well.
05:28So he may have neutralized what maybe conceptually is maybe the weak spot.
05:36Yeah.
05:36Let's take a look at it right here, too.
05:38Watch.
05:38Hicks is going to score up, so we're going to get a chance to see him go side by side.
05:42Good entry speed.
05:43And you're right, neutralize it.
05:45So he does lose some time to Shane, but let's be real.
05:47Shane McElrath is also one of the best riders in the whoops on a 250, so it's not a perfectly fair comparison, but I think it held its own.
05:55Yeah, so Hicks has got hopes that he's going to have to deal with the Brazilian rider who is so excited to have a race in South America not far from where he lives in Brazil.
06:07How many fans do you say you have with him?
06:08A hundred or something.
06:09I was walking out there earlier.
06:11There's Brazilian flags all over the place.
06:13They are here to cheer on their ran.
06:16And he is not disappointing.
06:17McElrath, the rider out of North Carolina, doing everything he can to catch Anstey.
06:23A couple of former world champs here paddling it out.
06:26Yeah, we've got to watch this clock, too, because he's two and a half seconds down right now.
06:30You read Kosky told me he had the fastest lap in race one, so now he's going to have a free shot at it.
06:36Let's see if that speed is really there.
06:37And McElrath just sent the fastest lap at a 55 flat.
06:43He was seven tenths of a second quicker than our leader, Max Anstey.
06:47He's going to need everything he can to reel him in.
06:50The gap was 2.6.
06:52Can he shorten that up a little bit?
06:54We'll get a quick look as they get close to the finish line jump, entering into the whoop section one more time here.
07:00They're coming to the line.
07:01They'll be lap seven.
07:03Here we go.
07:05What is Anstey's turn?
07:06Anstey with a blazing 54.985, the quickest lap of the night by Max Anstey when he needed it most.
07:19And Lopes gets around Hicks, and the start slots back another spot.
07:25Push him back to Ford.
07:26Yeah, this is a great bounce back for Lopes, too.
07:28He had a tough one race one, worked himself backwards near 9.10, maybe.
07:32This is a great rebound for him.
07:34Puts him in a position, Jeff, maybe for that overall.
07:36Again, race three is where the big points come.
07:39It's a longer race, so if he can put a good one on the board now and have a great race three,
07:43maybe he sneaks his way back onto the podium for tonight's overall.
07:46I think Michael Hicks is trying to sneak his way back into third position.
07:52He's got Cole Thompson behind him on the Kawasaki, starting to breathe down his neck.
07:57And Max Anstey getting closer to putting together a perfect night.
08:02Final lap underway.
08:03One more to go for Max Anstey, and another 10 points, possibly getting deposited into his account.
08:13Lopes right there.
08:14Enzo running in third.
08:16McElrath hangs on in second.
08:18Hicks.
08:19Thompson shocked.
08:20Desperate Peters.
08:21Chisholm now up to 9th, and Bordeaux loses another spot to Cullen Park, who fought his way from dead last to 10th.
08:29So Park clawed his way back into the top 10.
08:32I've got to tell you guys, it looks like that hot tee that Anstey had in between race one and two certainly was the...
08:40It was good.
08:40That was the ticket.
08:42Now, do you think it's Earl Grey or like a breakfast tee?
08:45I was wondering.
08:45We'll have to find out.
08:47If we were here in Brazil, it'd be Meta, right?
08:49Meta, yeah.
08:50Meta.
08:50Exactly.
08:51A little Meta.
08:52All right, here we come.
08:53Max Anstey on his way.
08:56The former world champ wins it again here.
08:58He'll take race number two in SX2 and another 10 points go in his column.
09:05And that looked pretty easy, guys.
09:07Yeah.
09:07Sure did.
09:08He's in position to sweep the whole night from practice one.
09:11If he wins this last one, what a night.
09:15A great ride from Michael Hicks on the start.
09:17Really impressive.
09:18Globes coming up to third.
09:20McElrath showed that, okay.
09:21I'm there.
09:22I can run the speed.
09:24And now we've got the 12-lapper coming up just a little bit later on.
09:27And again, Colin Park fought his way all the way up to 10th after going to dead last out of the gate.
09:34And the rest of the field coming across the line.
09:37You saw Robbie Wageman and Noah Viney.
09:43Next race for them will be race three, which will be a 12-lapper with 25 points on the board.
09:51And let's head down, Kristen, as the race winner.
09:56Max Anstey discussing that race with Will Hahn.
10:00But, Max, I just asked you a moment ago, what was it like having the electric bike behind you during that race?
10:05I didn't even know.
10:06I thought Shane was there the whole time.
10:09And then I was like, I think there's someone else behind me.
10:10I couldn't figure out if it was my shadow or electric bike.
10:14Definitely a weird one.
10:17I've never raced with an electric bike on the track before.
10:20So it's cool.
10:21It's cool for the sport.
10:23It's probably going to be the future.
10:24You know how it is.
10:25But pumped to get the win in that one.
10:27I've got one more to go.
10:29So looking forward to getting back, regrouping, and going again.
10:33Max Anstey, two for two.
10:35Ralph, an exciting race to follow.
10:37And a different experience for Max Anstey with that silent electric bike behind him.
10:42Yeah, he's really on his game tonight, Kristen.
10:45We'll see if he can get another cup of tea in and get him one more time here in race number three coming up.
10:50Here's a look at the results.
10:51The unofficial Anstey, McElrath, Lopes, Hicks, and Thompson.
10:56The top five.
10:56Cody Schock just outside that top five in sixth on his Yamaha.
11:03Desprey Peters, Chisholm, and Park.
11:06Well, SX1, they'll be up next.
11:10GP race number two for them shortly here in Buenos Aires.
