00:05than that if he wants to overtake the 21 of El Hombre. Christian Craig also in

00:11this title fight went down had an issue later in the lap fought back to fifth in

00:15a valiant effort but now has to dig himself out of a hole he wants to win

00:20this championship this start is gonna be super crucial for all three riders the

00:26board goes sideways SX-1 race number two gate down

00:35Anderson goes wide Savace up the inside and it looks like Jorge Zaragoza out

00:42front on the Stark future Anderson is second if he makes quick work of

00:46Zaragoza he can clear track runaway but he has Joey Savace right behind him and Christian

00:51Craig has got a bunch oh look at Joey he's lost one two maybe three spots now and

01:00Anderson is out front and hammering those whoops

01:04Zaragoza frees looks like Simonson clout I can't see Joey yet oh Craig down again in

01:12the corner that claimed half the 250 division and his work is cut out for

01:18him again while Anderson leads he took care of business in that first corner

01:23quick work of Zaragoza let's watch Christian Craig you see Savace to his

01:28left Craig checks up right into the bottom of the berm got him

01:33yeah for all on his own and gets drilled for good measure at the end of-

01:37ah Christian Craig has had a rough night in Cape Town South Africa on

01:43championship night while Jason Anderson has the best case scenario you could ever

01:49have you've got Zaragoza second Vince Fries who is maybe the best I'd

01:54say the word best lightly defensive rider in the sport of supercross I mean so

02:00Savace is going to have to go through all these guys just to get clear track.

02:03And if there is one guy that I do not want to have to pass in a championship battle, it is Vince Freeze.

02:10He has not been up there as much this season as I thought that he would be.

02:18He is going to fly tooth and nail to keep that position.

02:20Now we talked to Yurim Khonski.

02:23Mathematically, with the way the format works, if you're Savace, you just got to get to second.

02:28You would be two down with a chance to win the main event and wrap up the title in the final race of the season,

02:35which means pass Simonson here, get Luke Cloud, get the Starks, and we're okay.

02:41He's going to have to be very aggressive and very patient right in this moment.

02:44He has five laps to keep his championship alive.

02:48He gives himself the chance to just control his destiny, win that last race, and then win the world championship.

02:55But he has five laps to get into second place.

02:59With a lot of great runs.

03:00Yeah, and his toughest pass might come first.

03:03Yeah, Luke Cloud was a tenth off of the lead pack.

03:08As we see the Rick Ware Racing boys battling, that's Simonson and Miller.

03:12But for Savace, this clock is going to tick down very, very fast.

03:18He's got to make this pass first, then get by Vince Freeze.

03:21I mean, he's been put in the most, the worst situation imaginable in race two.

03:27You travel over six weeks, five continents, you're racing all these different kind of conditions,

03:32and it comes down to five laps of absolute scent to keep your championship hopes alive.

03:39That's not a position I would like to be in, but Joey Savace, he's about to go up the inside of Luke Cloud.

03:46That's one more ticked off.

03:47Vince Freeze is next.

03:48That's one.

03:49Four big laps coming, the biggest of your season.

03:52Two more passes, and you will control your own destiny in the final race of the season.

03:59But this here might be the toughest pass of his life.

04:04Vince Freeze is not going to move, and if you get him, he will get you back if you leave him an inch.

04:09And he just hasn't been up there this season.

04:12This is not going to be a position that he wants to let go of.

04:16And these Starks out of the gate in this second race have been phenomenal.

04:21A great run by Zaragoza and Freeze sitting 2-3 for Stark Future.

04:27As you see Joey with an uptick in aggression, he knows the laps are coming down.

04:34He's going to have to make this move, make it quick, and it might be here.

04:37Does he do it aggressively?

04:39Oh, it's muddy in that corner, so smart of him to check up.

04:42Yeah, he just didn't get enough of a run in that rhythm section.

04:46Let's go down to Chris and Beat with more.

04:52Sebastian Tortelli told me earlier in the day for the first time since the season started,

04:56they had a test week before Stockholm.

04:58The team traveled back to HQ in Barcelona, and they spent the week dialing in the power curve.

05:02That's why we're seeing both Vince Rees and Jorge Zaragoza look so much more comfortable on the bike.

05:07And I'll tell you what, if I'm Joey Sabacci right now, I'm feeling really good about that pass.

05:12It's a big mistake, but I think Vince could have gone in there and done some damage if he wanted to,

05:18but he laid back, and now Joey has one more pass to make with just a couple laps to do it.

05:24And this thing will go to race 3 to the main event.

05:27Vince was about as respectful as you could be to a guy that is in the heat of a championship battle.

05:33He's had problems after that triple all night tonight.

05:36Really looks like he has to open up that turn to get into that next rhythm section.

05:41Interesting that that's been the one place that he's had problems with all night.

05:46Roll, triple, big double for Joey Sabacci.

05:49He's got the speed, no question.

05:52The last three weeks, he's been fastest in Super Bowl.

05:54So with the clear track, he gets right to the back of Zaragoza.

05:59Two laps remaining.

06:01And I'll tell you what, Jase, if he gets there after this ride, that momentum,

06:06that might be the lift he needs to wake him up before the main event.

06:10Because, look, Anderson has had his number when the gate has dropped.

06:14Sometimes it just takes a little fire, and he's going to have one here if he can get by the star future.

06:17So right now, if it finishes like this, it would be three points in it.

06:25They could tie.

06:26I believe Jason Anderson would win on a countback.

06:29This position is crucial for this World Championship title fight.

06:34You mentioned having your destiny in your own hands.

06:37Right now, he does not have it.

06:39This pass, and he would.

06:41He could win race three, the main event.

06:45He could win the championship.

06:47This might be the pass of the season.

06:50He has got one lap to keep this championship alive.

06:55And Zaragoza is just riding out of his skin tonight.

07:17I'm telling you, Jason, if I'm Joey, I'm feeling really good about this race.

07:23And we're going to be in for an amazing race three.

07:28If Joey Sabacci can keep it together with a couple corners to go.

07:31Ben, he is riding like a guy that wants this world championship.

07:47But the story is Joey Sabacci, who made the passes that he needed to keep his championship alive.

07:53Main event, race three, 12 laps to decide the World Supercross Championship.

08:01After one of the most important and crucial rides of Joey Sabacci's career, he does exactly what he needs to do.

08:07That is literally the biggest five laps of Joey Sabacci's career.

08:10He needed to come in clutch.

08:13He came in clutch in that moment.

08:15We've got Christian Craig on screen.

08:17That might effectively end his championship.

08:20That is a horrible night for Christian Craig here in South Africa.
