00:00That's not exactly right because we don't see Cody's shock on that.
00:03But anyway, fitness could come into play here because these guys' arms have got to be getting tired from hanging on to these bikes tonight.
00:10Super physical night of racing. I mean, they've been fighting the bike.
00:13Even their best laps have been an absolute fight.
00:17So the body's being tested. The mind is being tested.
00:21Max Anstey's about to be tested again, but he's 11-0.
00:24He has passed every test to this point.
00:26You see Max in the gate in the 99. Three bikes over to his left is Cody's shock.
00:32And then McElrath next to him.
00:34Hicks has been getting great starts on the start, number 460, and Lopes on the 16.
00:40Certainly can't be counted out. This is going to be a great one.
00:44Race number three for SX2, the Swedish GP.
00:51Max with the best start he's had all night.
00:54And look at Lopes come firing up the inside to take it away from him.
00:59And shock is right there as well to try to get another spot, but down.
01:03Yes, he does.
01:05And Max, who looked like he was going to have a phenomenal start to this one, Daniel, ends up in 4th, maybe 5th.
01:11That's what makes Supercross so much fun.
01:14That was his best start.
01:15Off the pad, his ship, he cuts over, he breaks hard, and he gets pushed back to 4th.
01:21Shout out Enzo Lopes, though. He shot up that inside.
01:24That was an aggressive move.
01:25You've got to do that to Max Anstey if you want a shot.
01:28And three riders have one now.
01:30This could be the best thing for Cody's shock.
01:33Max gets denied the win.
01:35Cody's in front of him.
01:36It could be the perfect point scenario for Cody to carry this on to South Africa if he can stay in the top three.
01:43We're going to have a fun one here because Max Anstey not only is chasing that championship, but he is perfect this season.
01:52He's going to have to go through the defending champ.
01:54He's going to have to go through Cody's shock, who was right there with him in Vancouver.
01:58And if he gets through them, he's going to have to go through Lopes, who's won the last two Super Bowls.
02:02This will be Max Anstey's most challenging race of this entire season.
02:06No doubt about it.
02:08Lopes and shock out front.
02:10The Arby's Rick Ware racing team running one and two here at the Swedish GP.
02:16And Rick Ware back home in Mooresville, North Carolina, watching and cheering on his riders here tonight.
02:22He's loving this with the two boys out front.
02:24And Lopes is on one early, trying to get away so that if the battle comes from Anstey,
02:31it's going to have to be from a, I mean, some super fast laps of Anstey to even get to him.
02:36Oh, is that Cody?
02:39Yes.
02:40Cody's shock goes over the bars.
02:43And that could change everything in this championship in one terrible moment for Cody's shock.
02:50He's up and going again, but he's got a long way to go to claw himself back into this title fight.
02:56Anstey winning with shock eighth or worse.
02:59And the championship ends tonight.
03:02Anstey still has to get up there and win the race.
03:04Look how far Lopes is gone.
03:06Lopes is gone.
03:07And shock has time to make moves.
03:08So we'll monitor this because there's two things happening at once.
03:12But this man wants, I mean, he don't care about the championship, the perfect season.
03:16He wants one for himself, but he's doing the right thing here early in this moto.
03:19Well, what Max has to be careful of is not worrying too much about being perfect, but just being smart, getting to the finish on this one, getting his max points that he can out of this, and maybe clinching the title when he gets to South Africa.
03:35Great point.
03:36Now, let's see Cody shocker.
03:37Okay.
03:38He comes up short leg off.
03:40Oh, yeah.
03:41That last buck right there.
03:42Oh, man.
03:42Look at that.
03:43That is a flying W.
03:47And he's lucky.
03:48The ground is soft, and he did land like at his feet.
03:52Oh, Colin Park.
03:53That would have been one of the tougher riders to kick.
03:54Oh, and he gets on course right in front of Cody.
03:56It doesn't help out at all for Cody shocks quest to get to the front here tonight.
04:01That's a tough go, but Cody shock is one of the toughest riders in this sport.
04:07I mean, he pops right up back to the bike, back to fight.
04:11While Enzo Lopes just pulls away.
04:13Okay, so your point, Ralph, Max Anstie is going to have to make a decision right now.
04:18Do I just be smart and put the championship as the priority, or do I chase the perfect season?
04:23Because if he does, he's going to have to send it a little bit right here.
04:26He may not want to do that in these track conditions, so this might be a mental test for Max Anstie.
04:31More than a physical one.
04:32Yeah, he told me in Australia, when we talked about that very thing, he said,
04:37No, he said, You know what?
04:39I'm going to be smart about this.
04:40The world championship is what means the most to me.
04:43I've got to focus on the overall war, not all the battles.
04:47And right now, that appears to be what he's doing.
04:50As you look at the live championship standings, Anstie significantly out in front of Shock,
04:55McElrath, and Lopes.
04:57I'll tell you who's going to be happy is the Brazilian fans.
05:03Anstie loves, he's got a fan base, they're passionate, and they're going to love this
05:07as he continues to pull away.
05:10It's not like he's holding the lead.
05:12I mean, he's still chipping away.
05:14I mean, three-tenths better, he's up to 4.7.
05:17It's a great race.
05:19Cody Shaw continuing to make moves.
05:20He's mathematically still keeping this thing alive.
05:23And that's the halfway point here in race three.
05:25That's Cody on the bottom.
05:27The championship is still open.
05:30But Max has one hand firmly grasping the trophy right now.
05:35Great bounce back from Anstie Lopes, too.
05:37He was your Super Bowl winner.
05:39And he didn't take the credit for Australia's because Max Anstie made a big mistake.
05:43He took the credit tonight because he was purely the fastest in qualifying.
05:47And then he goes down in sprint race number one, but bounces back in the race that matters the most.
05:53Executes an aggressive move in the first corner.
05:55He's being rewarded with clear track.
05:58I mean, the win streak, 11-0, is at jeopardy right now.
06:02Enzo Lopes has done his job.
06:04Enzo Lopes putting in a great ride here from the start as the laps wind down here in race number three, the Swedish GP.
06:24And Max is hanging in there, closing on Shane, but not by a ton.
06:302.7, the gap between first and second.
06:37Now we're being told if Max Anstie can get to second with Cody all the way back in 10th, that would be enough for him to wrap up the championship here tonight.
06:47But the problem is, how does anybody communicate that to him?
06:50Well, they're going to try, but he's lost the tail of Shane McElrath.
06:55Now, I feel like he's just settled in and saying, you know what, it's been a great night.
06:59I've gotten my points so far.
07:01I've got this championship where I want it.
07:04But the tough part is, is he's not going to clinch if he doesn't make that pass.
07:08And he's also going to give up the perfect season.
07:10So it ends up being a race that maybe he looks back and says, a little more aggression, one more pass, and I can end this thing right now.
07:17But as it sits, we're taking the title fight to South Africa.
07:21Cody Schock has gotten up and survived the race, kept the championship alive.
07:26And a great ride for Max.
07:27So this has been very solid, very smart, which is essentially what you need to be a champion.
07:32So not his best individual race, but some of the best decisions he's made right now.
07:37Yeah.
07:37He didn't panic.
07:39He quickly came to the decision to not push overly hard.
07:45The gap has grown by two-tenths between him and McElrath.
07:52Here's the folks.
07:54Ralph, this is an individual sport when the gate drops.
07:57But when the gate doesn't drop, or before the gate drops, sorry, it's a team sport.
08:02And the Rick Ware Racing team was dealt some adversity this week.
08:05They had a bag get lost in luggage, or get lost on the way from Australia.
08:09They had to find it, put some pieces together, make these bikes work.
08:13So shout out to Rick Ware Racing on their ability to make things happen for this team very last minute.
08:18They're being rewarded right now.
08:20Yeah, and when you say a bag got lost, we're not talking about underwear and socks.
08:23We're talking about pieces and parts.
08:24We're talking engine parts and suspension parts.
08:28And for Cody Schock to get up and survive that crash, reward his team with some grit and some effort.
08:34Enzo Lopes to execute like he has.
08:37Rick Ware Racing team has done their job tonight.
08:39I'll tell you who's still charging.
08:41That's Cody Schock here in the 69.
08:43He is going after Cullen Park.
08:46This is a fight for eighth right now with two laps to go here at the Swedish GP.
08:52Cody trying to get to the inside here.
08:53They've been battling for a while.
08:55I mean, when Cody got up, this is one of the first riders he came up on.
09:00Remember, Cullen Park had his issue.
09:01So this has been a long dogfight of a race for both of these riders.
09:05Meanwhile, Cody's teammate, Enzo Lopes, picking away at it here.
09:10Coming up to one lap to go.
09:14Line choice is everything.
09:15I see him on those far edges.
09:16Look, he's way on the left.
09:17See the tractor mark still there?
09:18That's a better part of the track.
09:21And he's got enough room in front of him to move over and find it.
09:24Look how far back Max Anstey is.
09:26Shane Baccarat.
09:27He saw Shane go over the finish line, jumping out of frame.
09:31And Max just picking his way along.
09:35Yeah, business decision for Max Anstey.
09:38The title is what's most important.
09:40The perfect season would have been nice.
09:41But guess what?
09:42It gives him something to chase next year.
09:44Try again.
09:45But that title, that's where the glory comes.
09:49That's where all the work comes into play.
09:50And he's mentioned all year how important it is for him to get that championship.
09:53So good decision.
09:56Final lap underway here at the Swedish GP in our SX2 category.
10:01250cc machines.
10:04McElrath trying to catch Lopes to see if he can steal the win out from underneath the Brazilian.
10:10He's pushing hard.
10:12Here comes Shane.
10:13Goes inside.
10:15Just can't get it done.
10:17Checkered flag.
10:18And Enzo loaves to Brazilian.
10:19Lights the candles here at the Swedish GP with the win for Rick Ware Racing.
10:25And Max Anstey, here comes the 99.
10:28The perfect season is over.
10:31But Max Anstey gets one hand firmly on the championship trophy and crown.
10:38Anstey will win the event here.
10:40He will take the overall victory.
10:42He will take the overall victory.
10:43Lopes will win race number three.
10:48And Cody Schock will come across the line in ninth.
10:52And this championship will go on to Cape Town.
10:58There's team manager Dave Antonok right there to celebrate with Enzo.
11:03I'm sure Rick Ware is jumping up and down back home in North Carolina right now.
11:07He doesn't miss a lap.
11:11And he should be proud.
11:15I mean, that's team effort, rider effort, grit, heart, execution all in one.
11:20Good job.
11:21Enzo Lopes stopping the streak.
11:23And, Ralph, he earned it in that first corner.
11:26He had to make a decision, and he made it, and he stuck the pass.
11:29Sure did.
11:31He sure did.
11:32And for the first time all year, that graphic has changed.
11:36It has always been Max Anstey inside the WSXW.
11:41And for the first time, it's somebody else by the name of Enzo Lopes.
11:45And I'm sure the Brazilian fans are thrilled as their man wins GP race number three.
11:56But the overall will go to Max Anstey as he will stay perfect when it comes to overall victories on the 2025 season.
12:09Lopes, McElrath, Anstey, Michael Hicks with another good run on the Stark here.
12:15He's in the top five once again.
12:17Robbie Wageman with one of his best rides of the 2025 year puts his bike, the Suzuki, for Pipes in fifth.
12:30And problems continue for Noah Viney.
12:33And let's go ahead and go on down to Kristen Bede, who's got Enzo Lopes.
12:40I actually have the overall winner on the night, Max Anstey.
12:45The win streak may be over, but a hand firmly planted on the championship as we head into Cape Town.
12:51Max, how did you survive this night?
12:53Well, that was a tough one.
12:55Obviously, the first two went very well.
12:56And that last one, man, it was the Ruts finale.
12:59I had one moment where both feet came off, twisted my ankles, twisted my legs.
13:04And I was like, okay, I'm just bringing it home right now.
13:07That was tricky.
13:09Track was tough.
13:09Happy to be out of here in one piece.
13:10And get the overall, that's the important thing.
13:12And we move on to Cape Town next week.
13:15Focus on what's ahead.
13:16Thanks so much, Max Anstey.
13:17We're going to bring over Enzo Lopes, draping himself in the Brazilian flag.
13:23Enzo, your first GP race win of the year, snapping Max Anstey's win streak.
13:29Enzo, how were you able to get it done in such treacherous conditions?
13:33How did you keep your head on straight?
13:34I finally got a good start.
13:36And it wasn't easy because Max and Shane were on me the whole race, especially the last turn.
13:42They're riding amazing.
13:43Congrats to both of them.
13:44But, yeah, I just celebrated this win.
13:46I broke Max's streak, which is nice.
13:47But we still have one more race to go in Africa.
13:50So we'll see you guys there.
13:51How big is this win as it relates to your confidence this season?
13:56I mean, it feels amazing, to be honest.
13:58And I really want to just take the time to thank everyone in Brazil watching right now.
14:01I don't even know what time it is there.
14:03So thank you to all my fans that are watching this right now.
14:06And, yeah, confidence is right there up top.
14:09Enzo, congratulations.
14:11Prior to that GP race, Enzo Lopes' best GP race finish was a third.
14:15So a big night for Enzo.
14:17And stepping into frame, Shane McElrath, that last lap.
14:21You did everything you could.
14:23Shane, you seem emotional in this moment.
14:25Why is that?
14:27Yeah, it's a little bittersweet.
14:29It's been a tough year so far.
14:31After last year, it was like, man, we were just kind of clicking things off.
14:35And, yeah, we've had a lot of work to do this year.
14:39And, honestly, the Quad La Clona team, like, we've been working.
14:42And that's what has been kind of fun about it.
14:45It's like with how last year went, like, I just want to win.
14:48And I feel like I should win.
14:50But it's like these guys are riding really good.
14:52And Enzo, he got a good start.
14:54And he got the gap early.
14:55And it's like when I got into second, I was like, okay, there were a couple laps I didn't
15:00make up any time.
15:00So, yeah, praise the Lord on another podium.
15:03We're still fighting.
15:06This is one of those where it's not super easy.
15:09But I'm learning.
15:10I'm getting better.
15:11And, yeah, we'll be back.
15:14This is Shane McElrath's third podium overall on this season.
15:19Our defending champion closing out the night here in Stockholm.
15:25And here are the championship points.
15:28Let me bring you up to speed on how this will go down in South Africa.
15:31Now, Max Anstey is not your champion yet.
15:33But if he lines up in the third race, the main event in South Africa, mathematically,
15:39he will clinch the championship just by leaving the gate.
15:43There is points for all the riders throughout the three races.
15:45That's all he needs to do to get his championship trophy.
15:49So he's got one hand on it right now.
15:51He's going to have to close things down by leaving the gate in South Africa in race three.
