00:00Today, the KTM has a steel frame, much different than the other bikes, the Japanese brands that he would have ridden in the past.
00:08Doesn't flex quite the same, not as much.
00:11Well, you don't know if it flexes as much, but the feel is different, the flex is different, right?
00:16Because there's some changes that they can make to it.
00:20It's just going to have a different feel to it, and so you have to adjust the suspension components, and the rider has to get that feel.
00:27And it's so crazy when I think about when you're at this level, changing the rear sag on the rear shock by two millimeters would make the bike feel completely different, or two clicks on the forks, right?
00:41It's literally millimeters.
00:43You can see the points for the event as we run through the evening.
00:48You win, you get ten, Tomek has ten, Roxen sits second with nine as we work our way towards the overall GP winner at the end of our three races here tonight in each of our two classes.
01:02Everybody kicking their bikes to life, getting ready to go.
01:05You see Cooper giving a couple of whacks on the throttle on the 32.
01:08Not everybody, Ralph.
01:09No, not everybody, that's right.
01:11There it goes in, Freezy.
01:13Their bikes are quiet.
01:14Isn't that wild to think?
01:17They're just quiet right now.
01:18They're just sitting there quiet until they turn the throttle, and it goes.
01:23It's not a matter of how you get to that checkered flag.
01:26It's just getting there, right?
01:28Oh, yeah.
01:31They were ninth and tenth in race number one.
01:34We'll see how they do here in race number two as we're ready to drop the gate.
01:39Carpeg, turn number one.
01:42Who's going to get there first?
01:43It's not going to be Tomek.
01:45It's Cooper on the 32 right to the front of the field.
01:49And then it's Roxen and Tomek bar to bar.
01:52And some of the riders on the inside of the first turn were so far inside they went over the berm right there at the bottom of your screen.
02:01That was wild.
02:02Yeah, kicking dirt right up into our laps.
02:04Here's Roxen trying to push the pressure on Cooper, but he got a little loose in that corner,
02:08and he's going to have to follow him through this rhythm lane.
02:11Meanwhile, look at Anderson putting the heat on the backside of Tomek.
02:15Boy, Jason Anderson has come alive here tonight.
02:18This is what we want to see.
02:20The Tomek-Roxen battle, the rivalry that's been around for a decade and a half.
02:25But it's Justin Cooper who was the fastest in Super Bowl, picked it up late in race one.
02:29Jeff, can he continue that momentum into this one?
02:33Because he had some slow laps early, but this is a great start to race, too.
02:36You see Cooper jumping through the whoops, and Roxen taking more of the traditional, hitting every one line through there.
02:43Here he comes, chasing him, looking to the inside.
02:45Cooper can sense he's there.
02:48Roxen is about a bike length behind now.
02:50He's right up alongside of him.
02:51Watch him go inside.
02:53He's going to cut under.
02:53He's going to cut back.
02:54He tries.
02:55Cooper gets a great drive out of the corner, and the 32 hangs on to the lead.
03:00But guess who's coming along for the ride?
03:02That number one Red Bull KTM at Tomek closing in on the backside of Roxen.
03:07It's going to be a three-rider fight for the lead here.
03:09Here we go.
03:10Roxen's got the inside.
03:11He's going to triple in there and block out.
03:13Roxen goes high.
03:14No, it's going to be Cooper on the high side.
03:16Roxen to the inside.
03:17Still not going to put Cooper away.
03:19Nice job, Justin Cooper.
03:21He actually gets a foot off the peg, though.
03:23And he tripled in, standing, staying low, but it's over.
03:26Roxen inside.
03:26New leader here in Vancouver.
03:28It's Ken Roxen out front of the 94.
03:31He was perfect in Argentina, trying to get a win here in Canada.
03:35And look at the flow that the number one, the reigning champ, Eli Tomek.
03:39He is right there on the back tire.
03:41Cooper looks over his shoulder.
03:44Sees him there.
03:45The heat is on for Cooper.
03:47Roxen already pulling away.
03:48Tomek wants to get up there and fight with that Suzuki.
03:50He's got to dispose of the 32 first,
03:53and he does so right there.
03:54Wow.
03:56All right, here we go.
03:57Here it is.
03:5894.
03:59Now, how thus can Tomek reel in Roxen?
04:02We're halfway through race number two.
04:04We want to see this battle for the lead heat up.
04:07Tomek is charging now.
04:09And I feel like Ken Roxen has some interesting lines on the track.
04:16Anderson.
04:17Anderson.
04:17Another triple.
04:18Still in fourth, trying to catch up to the backside of Cooper here,
04:22see if he can put a fight on for third.
04:24Tomek almost in the exact same line as Roxen threw the whoops that time.
04:30But, Daniel, what I want to see this next time around the finish line,
04:33they've got one more turn.
04:34Take a look at those lap times.
04:36It was 55 flat for Roxen last time around,
04:39but I think they're going to have to dial it up.
04:41Oh, they did.
04:4254-1.
04:42That was almost a second faster.
04:45Tomek of 53.9.
04:48Yeah, they know.
04:49They both know they've got to go faster than they've gone all night.
04:52And here's what's going to be interesting.
04:54Tomek passed Anderson in race one,
04:56so he's made one real move on the track.
04:58Roxen came from way back.
05:00He's got multiple passing options that he's used,
05:02but now he gets to play defense and see if Eli can make a move.
05:06I got to go on his speed.
05:08This is going to be a massive three or four laps right here.
05:10Both guys know how important it is.
05:12Justin Cooper's sitting there in the shadows watching back,
05:15but Titan on Titan here in race number two.
05:18Setting up what could be a wild 20-26 for these two
05:22as they fight for a world championship again.
05:25They went bar-to-bar for the title last year.
05:27The two-time world champion Roxen had to hand the number one plate over to Tomek.
05:33And Roxen would like to make a statement here tonight in Canada.
05:37Both riders pretty much the exact same lap time, 54.4.
05:44Just mirroring each other,
05:46and they find that they're at the limit right there.
05:48Look at that line that Tomek was doing, tripling out of the turn.
05:52Kind of caught up a little bit.
05:53Yeah, he did, Jeff.
05:54He definitely did.
05:55The gap between Roxen and Tomek, 1.134.
06:02Roxen getting into that tough block a little bit there.
06:06Different rhythm there, too.
06:07Eli got that triple after the little double out of the corner,
06:10so different rhythms.
06:11What I like, though, is that they are both pushing so hard.
06:15Oh, man, you can see Tomek get loose.
06:17The other thing I've noticed here, guys,
06:18and Tomek, again, getting wide in that corner there.
06:21He hits another one of the tough blocks.
06:23Tomek's bike looks a little bit more settled in this race than it did in race number one,
06:28and you know he's pushing just as hard.
06:30It just goes to show they continue to work on that bike.
06:34And, guys, Ken Roxen, Pipes Motorsports Suzuki,
06:38just at the fastest lap of the race of 53.8.
06:42He was four-tenths of a second quicker than Tomek.
06:45Now Tomek's closing it right back up a little bit,
06:47but that tells me that Roxen is really comfortable on that progressive Suzuki right now.
06:52And we're about a lap and a half away from the checkered flag here.
06:56Can Roxen hang on, or can Tomek reel him in?
07:00Suzuki versus KTM here.
07:04Roxen's been in this position so many times.
07:06Both these matches.
07:07Oh, man.
07:08Look at the back end of Tomek's bike moving through there.
07:10They're both all over the place.
07:12I mean, I want to see the face of those whoops right now
07:14because, you know, it's just a minefield out there right now
07:17that the riders are having to deal with.
07:19Two of the best riders ever in the history of Supercross
07:22showing what they're made of here tonight at BC Place
07:26as we're on the final lap.
07:27Tomek comes back down to earth and will grab a handful of throttle
07:30and try to chase down Roxen again.
07:32And Tomek missed that rhythm section before the finish line.
07:35Oh, that cost him big time.
07:36Oh, yeah.
07:37Look at the gap here now between Roxen and Tomek.
07:40Kenny very comfortable out front on that PMG Suzuki.
07:45The big test here between these two
07:49as they set sail for a world championship again.
07:53Roxen hunting for his third.
07:55Tomek trying to get his second.
07:56Well, and this will be the hardest that Tomek's had to push on this new machine.
08:03He's really challenged.
08:04And the other thing is, as you think about the overall battle for the win in the GP here tonight,
08:10Roxen finished second to Tomek in race one.
08:13Now they're flipping it back.
08:14They're going to be dead even going into the third and final race of the night.
08:17It isn't that going to be fun to watch.
08:19Checkered flag, and they light the candles with Ken Roxen here in race number two for SX1
08:26at the Canadian GP.
08:29Boy, the storyline gets even more intense here in SX1.
08:34And I'll tell you what, Eli Tomek and his team, this is going to be their first big test, guys.
08:40That bike was not working great in the whoops.
08:42He was skipping left, skipping right.
08:44I bet you they're going right back right now.
08:46They're going to review.
08:47This is their first chance to have their communication tested
08:50because that bike's going to have to be a little bit better in the whoops.
08:52That's where his mistakes came late.
08:54And I've got to correct myself.
08:55I was so excited over the fact that these guys finished one, too.
08:58It's actually Anderson.
08:59Anderson, yep.
09:00They finished second in race number one.
09:02So help me do a little math in here.
09:04So going into the final, yeah, Tomek's got a point advantage over Ken Roxen.
09:12All right, Kristen.
09:16Ken Roxen, well done.
09:18My question for you, how did you balance your offense against overriding
09:22while also having to keep Eli Tomek behind you?
09:25Well, so, like, my game plan for the second moto was to actually ride cleaner,
09:30ride calmer.
09:31Earlier, I got a bad start, and I had to override a little bit.
09:35Not ideal on this track.
09:37Very slippery, so rocky.
09:38Like, overall, these are probably my least favorite conditions, like, ever.
09:42So I'm struggling a bit out there.
09:44But, you know, I made a bunch of mistakes earlier
09:46and did ride well, though, enough to get up to third after a bad start.
09:50So this one, I just had a really good start, made a pass happen,
09:53and was able to just ride my own race,
09:55which is, uh, it's so key with how loose it is and how slippery it is.
09:59I mean, it's treacherous out there.
10:00So, um, stoked for this one.
10:03A clean pass on Justin Cooper earlier in the race.
10:06How did you strategize that overtake?
10:08Um, I don't actually remember where I passed him.
10:13These are quick races.
10:14I don't blame you.
10:14Yeah, yeah, so I don't know.
10:16I'm just kind of trying to go wherever the guy in front of me isn't going.
10:19And, um, you kind of got to dive bomb here a little bit, you know.
10:22It's so hard to pass.
10:23You have no traction.
10:23It's, man, it's tough out there, buddy.
10:26I made the pass happen, and I'm stoked on this one, for real.
10:29Well done, Ken Rockson.
10:30As it stands right now, he is one race behind Eli Tomac
10:34as they will enter race three tonight.
10:36All right, let's take a look at the full race results here
10:41from SX1 race number two.
10:44Ken Rockson finds himself back on top,
10:46his fourth win of the 2025 season.
10:51And Eli Tomac has a first and a second
10:54as we head into race number three.
10:57Daniel, wow, what a fight in SX1.
10:59Are you not entertained?
11:02Jeff Emick, that's what the fans came to see
11:05was Eli Tomac versus Ken Rockson.
11:08They got a heavy dose of it there,
11:09and they were just going faster and faster and faster.
11:12But Kenny gave us a little bit of an analysis
11:14right there in that interview.
11:15These aren't his best conditions.
11:17We know how great he is in hard pack,
11:19but I think that was one of the more phenomenal races
11:21we've seen of him in soft, ruddy conditions.
11:24Yeah, this was some really high-level racing
11:27right from the beginning,
11:27a couple guys going down right here.
11:31But, you know, Rockson is such a seasoned veteran.
11:36And, you know, works his way into the lead.
11:39It's a tough block.
11:40That might have been one of the only mistakes that he made.
11:42But this is the first time that we saw
11:44Eli Tomac here today get tested, right?
11:47He was pushing pretty hard,
11:49so he's trying to find the limits
11:50of what the Red Bull KTM would do.
11:52But these guys were absolutely flying.
11:55It's like whenever one guy wanted to, like, up the ante,
11:59the next guy matched it.
12:01And two, you know, one reigning,
12:04one former champion of this division out front
12:08just dominated that.
