00:00See the riders taking their gate position.
00:02There's Savace on the 17, Anderson on the 21.
00:07Their gate position was chosen off of their qualifying position earlier today.
00:13And the riders are going to line up in the same gate for all three races.
00:18That was Aranda on the 20 and we saw Christian Craig on the 28 as you see the lineup here and where their gate picks are.
00:26So Anderson gate number one, that means he's for the riders left.
00:31All the way, one would be on the left, 16 would be all the way on the right.
00:38Anderson needs a bounce back.
00:39We didn't get to see much of him.
00:40He was down early and buried in the pack.
00:42So this will be a chance maybe to see him show us what he's got.
00:46He was fourth in qualifying today, made it to the Super Bowl.
00:49And so far, okay, but race one, we just, we haven't got to see it.
00:53So I hope he gets off that gate, leads to gets up front and maybe challenge Ken Rockson if he can.
00:57But talk about someone who's been dominant.
01:00Kenny's on rails tonight too.
01:02I mean, he's a former world champion multi-times over.
01:04He's a veteran.
01:05He's really known as being one of the most physically fit athletes that there is.
01:13And I just think that mentally he's going to find a way to fight through this illness.
01:17And the best way he could do that is to grab the whole shot in each race and just kind of stay focused on his deal.
01:24But you wonder if Craig or Cevace, Deegan, somebody gets up there and starts to mess with him if that's going to take its toll.
01:3330-second board is up.
01:34Riders are getting ready.
01:36There's Kenny just next to the doghouse, right underneath the W, just to the right of it there.
01:43We'll keep an eye on him to see if his fitness can hang in there.
01:47Riders focused on the gate.
01:48Here we go.
01:48First one in the corner is going to be Ken Roxxon.
01:54But he's got a lot of company on the inside.
01:56He's going to lose the lead right away.
01:58That's Cooper on the 32.
01:59The blue bike taking the lead.
02:02Followed by the 17th.
02:04La Conda, Joey Cevace.
02:06Yeah, and then Roxxon's right there.
02:08So he sits in third.
02:09It's Cooper, Cevace, Roxxon, top three.
02:12And, Daniel, we have a Stark in fourth.
02:15So another good start for the electric bike.
02:19That's Zaragoza.
02:20Yeah, Jorge Zaragoza.
02:22But this is great for Justin Cooper.
02:24Another rider who needs a little bit of a bounce back was buried in that first race.
02:28And, Jeff, you know it's two different worlds when you're up front when you're buried.
02:31J-Coup's got some clear track.
02:32And I got Hayden Deegan back in about 10th right now.
02:35Much better start than he had on the first one.
02:37Keep an eye on the 38.
02:38He got 12 riders passed in race number one.
02:42Much better start here.
02:44And look at this battle for second as Roxxon gets around Cevace and goes right after Cooper.
02:49Tries the outside line right there.
02:52Didn't make it work.
02:53But Roxxon riding with a lot of aggression right now.
02:56He wants to make that pass for the lead and set the pace himself, not have to adjust to what Justin Cooper's doing up front.
03:07And El Hombre, Jason Anderson, finds himself in fourth on that PMG Suzuki.
03:13Much better start for him than in race number one where he found himself on the ground at the beginning of the race.
03:18And here's Roxxon inside on Cooper.
03:21And there is nothing you can do to stop that, Daniel.
03:24Nothing.
03:24Kenny is so sick.
03:26That was awesome.
03:27Out to end, cut up, got that double out of the corner, had the better rhythm, rips the whoops.
03:31I mean.
03:32Yeah, he gained two bike links on Cooper through the whoops.
03:35That's Suzuki's state so straight.
03:37But guys, he had to do that because he has to get out front, set a pace that he can maintain.
03:43And sustainability is going to be so key for Ken Roxxon here tonight.
03:47And he is one of the best first lap riders in the sport.
03:51The pass on Joey, awesome.
03:52The pass on Jay Coop, awesome.
03:54And I'm not surprised.
03:55I mean, Kenny is so great early in motos.
03:57Now have a clear track, try to run away.
03:59But, hey, Justin's hanging with him.
04:01We get to see Jason Anderson up there.
04:03Joey Savace still in contention for an overall here.
04:06Oh!
04:07Bam Anderson getting aggressive on the 21.
04:10Coming after him, making a challenge for third on Zaragoza.
04:14Oh, no, that was Savace.
04:15Savace, yeah.
04:16Savace messed up that triple into that.
04:19And Anderson jumps in.
04:20And I think it all kind of happened a little too quick.
04:23Savace got a wake-up call from the Suzuki rider, number 21, who sets him forth.
04:29Yeah, it was too quick for a lot of us.
04:30Deegan making moves, too.
04:32Up to eighth now on Simonson.
04:35Not going to the pack as quick as last time, but still has made some moves.
04:39There Zaragoza on the 99.
04:41And he's fighting with Christian Craig on the 28th.
04:44That's for fifth right now.
04:45Give that spot to Craig, but for how long?
04:49And I've got to say, Devin Simonson, number 88, he's looked really good today.
04:56He's had some strong rides.
04:57He's, unfortunately, he might have just have Deegan gone around the outside of him.
05:02Yeah, bottom of your screen, bottom left.
05:04He's up to eighth.
05:05Hayden Deegan up to eighth.
05:09Oh, he just got hit.
05:10Simonson did.
05:11And we are halfway through this one.
05:14Was that Aranda, the French rider?
05:16I think so, yeah.
05:17But you're right.
05:17Simonson had a great run there battling with Deegan.
05:20And he's actually a 250 Supercross racer for Club MX, but riding the 450 and riding it well,
05:25battling with these big-name guys.
05:26So, awesome to see him up there.
05:28But Hayden Deegan.
05:29Here he comes, banging another tough block.
05:32He just banks off of the tough blocks at every outside of the turn.
05:36He's got to be so stoked to be riding a 450 with the power that this is.
05:40Here he goes on Zaragoza.
05:42This would be for sixth.
05:44Hayden Deegan coming after him on the 38.
05:46Keep an eye on him.
05:47Looking to the inside.
05:49Great pass.
05:50Hayden Deegan gets another one.
05:51Finds himself up to sixth.
05:53Yeah, he was so committed.
05:55He tripled in.
05:56I mean, if Zaragoza had just hung tough, Deegan probably would have hit him and went down.
06:01I mean, he's riding with reckless abandon for sure.
06:05And great race crap, too.
06:06If you think about the passes he made in that one, this one, he's not afraid.
06:09Justin Cooper got him in the first one.
06:11He got him back.
06:12I like the race crap for a kid on a 450 just figuring things out out here in Argentina.
06:17Like, he's racing hard, making moves.
06:19Here it is again.
06:20Watch him on the 38.
06:21Zaragoza on the red bike.
06:23He went in deep.
06:25I mean, he tripled in.
06:26And when you do that, you come in with so much speed.
06:28Goes over the triple and just lays the Yamaha flat.
06:33Finding that flow early is Hayden Deegan on that big 450.
06:36So, taking a look at the lap times, last time around, Ken Rocks at 53.7.
06:41Cooper just half a second off.
06:44Jason Anderson, 53.5.
06:47Fastest rider on the track.
06:49Both Suzuki's.
06:53Just a couple of laps remaining in this one.
06:56Race number two for SX1.
06:59Here's Deegan.
07:05Right now, Hayden's in sixth.
07:07Trying to catch Christian Craig.
07:10Well, and Deegan and Craig were teammates on that Yamaha team for a while ago.
07:14A few years.
07:15Yeah.
07:15Think back to earlier this year in January.
07:17Christian Craig was Hayden Deegan's coach.
07:20They worked together.
07:21He was actually working with him during the Supercross Championship.
07:25All of a Christian sitting right in front of him.
07:27He might have a chance to get him in this one.
07:29And Rocks is still out front.
07:31Time's running out though, boys.
07:34Kenny's had to work a little bit harder in this one than he did in race number one.
07:38We'll see how much more he had empty out of the tank.
07:41If he'll have anything left for race number three.
07:44The one that pays the big points at 25.
07:46Well, and remember at this point, Ken Rockson is considered a wild card along with Justin Cooper.
07:53That means that as of right now, he's not scheduled to race every round.
07:59Cooper's scheduled to race the first two.
08:03Which would make the Anderson-Savace battle, Craig battle.
08:07That's more of your championship battle right there.
08:09But I'm just impressed with Justin Cooper and Jason Anderson's bounce back in this one.
08:13Getting to see them at full speed and in some comfort.
08:16But they really just don't have anything for Kenny.
08:19I mean, the balance that he rides with, with aggression and efficiency.
08:23He's the perfect 450 rider.
08:26Especially on a track like this, that's slick.
08:28I just don't know if they can touch him if he's got that energy in race three.
08:31And that's a big part as we work this final lap of what the Deegan team.
08:36And I say that because it's the family, the race team, everybody.
08:39The Deegan team all around Hayden wanted him to experience.
08:43Look at the names that are just in front of him.
08:45Rockson, Cooper, Anderson, Savace, Craig.
08:47The best in the absolute business of Supercross, Motocross racing.
08:52And he's right there battling with all of them here tonight and doing it on a challenging track.
08:57And Ken Rockson wins another one.
08:59He goes two for two as he takes race number two for SX1.
09:04And the rest of the field comes across the line.
09:06Anderson in third.
09:08Here's Joey Savace.
09:09He'll get fourth.
09:10Christian Craig will take fifth.
09:12And the pupil behind the teacher of Craig is Hayden Deegan with another fine effort as he comes across in sixth.
09:20As that debut night of the 450 continues.
09:24Simonson gets seventh.
09:26Zaragoza.
09:28Clear as he thinks he's going to shake up a little bit there.
09:30Yep.
09:30Hill is going to get in front of Zaragoza.
09:32So it's Moss and Politelli and Breeze.
09:36And Zaragoza is going to finish deeper back.
09:40Wow.
09:42Great race here in race number two.
09:46All right, Kristen.
09:49Ken Rockson having to work a little harder in race number two with a high-low setup on Justin Cooper.
09:55You executed the pass early on.
09:57The boys in the booth said it looked easy.
09:59Did it feel easy?
10:00Nothing's ever easy, even if it looks easy.
10:03The track, man.
10:03I mean, there's so much moisture in the air.
10:06It is so incredibly slick.
10:09Like, you have the blue groove, but the blue groove isn't dry.
10:12It has a lot of wet spots in it.
10:13So it's tricky.
10:15I mean, you've got to be so patient.
10:16But I feel like I had a really good flow, connected the track really well, and just had good lines and was able to make the pass.
10:23And a couple of laps, I made a little mistake, and then I really put it together and was able to pull away a little bit and just create some breathing room.
10:31Ken, on entry into the finish line, jump lane, in the corner, I saw a lot of riders taking that inside line and losing that rear tire traction.
10:40Did you have to change your lines on the track to adjust to the changing conditions?
10:44After the finish line, I also went to the inside, including the following turn.
10:47And I just kind of tried to get off the brakes early and make myself light and honestly just roll around it and have very low RPMs and be easy on the throttle exiting the turn.
10:58I think that's the key tonight.
10:59Well, Ken, I know you haven't been feeling well, so go ahead, head back to the paddock, feel better, and what a remarkable ride.
11:04You would never even know that he was battling a severe illness this week.
11:10Jeff, what did you think about what he said about keeping himself light?
11:13Well, he's just talking about having a lot of, like, mid-turn roll speed, not, you know, trying to force the bike too much, just kind of lightening up the brakes, just roll through with some momentum, not on the brakes, not on the throttle, just using a little momentum.
11:29Sure seemed to work, didn't it?
11:30Here's a look at the standings after race number one.
11:33And Kenny, just like Max Anstey, having a perfect night so far.
11:38As we look at the rest of it, McElrath and Cooper, their two categories.
