00:00Marshall Welton, Harrison was 6, Mitchell Harrison, Escoffier 7, Jett Lawrence was 8, Tom Vial was in 11th place.
00:08Race 2 was Malcolm Stewart, Hunter Lawrence, Jett Lawrence, Cooper Webb, Tom Vial, Cedric Subaras.
00:15And then this is race 3, and it goes from 8 minutes plus a lap to 13 minutes plus a lap.
00:21So perfect race distance for someone like Jett if he makes a bad start.
00:25But as we say, he's got other things going for him as well, with the production bike with a few bits on it and whatever.
00:31Monster Energy 15 second board is up for the final time, day one here in Paris.
00:36Who gets the Milwaukee Hull Shot? Malcolm Stewart got one, Cooper Webb got one, I believe, in the first race.
00:45Gates drop, here we go.
00:48Oh, looks like Jetson.
00:49And Jetson finds some prowess, and he takes the Milwaukee Hull Shot as well.
00:54Stewart up the inside of him, and Stewart looking to make a move in turn 2.
01:00And he goes so wide there, he got spooked in the turn.
01:03He had flashbacks of Tom Vial launching back up the inside of him.
01:08Yeah, this is kind of what I mentioned before, it's just his first lap.
01:12Intensity just has not quite been there.
01:15And luckily for him, it hasn't really needed to be.
01:18But we'll see if anything changes with 13 minutes to work with.
01:22Hunter, yeah.
01:23You think that first main event just maybe took the wind out of Jet Sails, just all of it?
01:27Yeah, maybe just took the edge off a little bit.
01:29I don't know.
01:31Oh, overjump there for Hunter as well, and again.
01:33Rough rhythm for Hunter there, but closing in.
01:37Yeah, so Mookie leads.
01:38Hunter Lawrence second.
01:39Jet Lawrence in third.
01:41Webb in fourth.
01:42He's found his way past Cedric Tsuburas, who is now in fifth place.
01:45Then Bial.
01:47Race kind of reminds me of Australia last year for them, where just nothing seemed to kind of go right.
01:52Yeah.
01:53Nothing smooth.
01:56But Mookie.
01:57Yeah, that doesn't take anything away from the ride that Malcolm's had.
02:00I mean, this has been master class for him.
02:03Absolutely on fire tonight.
02:05Loves the whoops.
02:06Getting on top of him better than anybody else.
02:08Okay, he's got like eight tenths of a second over Hunter Lawrence.
02:11But the race is still young, right?
02:13Eleven and a half minutes plus a lap.
02:16This one is only just getting started.
02:18Jet Lawrence potentially just getting warmed up as he homes in on Brother Hunter on the number 96 Honda.
02:24Webb into fourth, but how far back is he?
02:26A couple seconds.
02:27There he is in red, closing in on the number 18.
02:30So this might be the best race of the night for Cooper Webb, if he can maintain that kind of pace, guys.
02:36Yeah, I agree.
02:37Yeah, it's still early, you know, as far as this race goes.
02:43You just see Jet, he misses the triple there.
02:45It's just, I'm not used to seeing sloppy Jet.
02:49That's really what it has been.
02:51Mistakes.
02:52Gets a start.
02:53Moves immediately to third.
02:54Stewart will be leading on three.
02:58Hunter second.
02:59Cooper Webb third.
03:00Soob and Jet fifth at the moment, tied.
03:06That 11 points difference between Stew and...
03:08Speaking of Betty, you could have made a lot of money if you had laid down some money on Malcolm Sirobo in 111 tonight here in Paris.
03:17Incredible.
03:18Great work.
03:19You can see Jet right there.
03:20That's just not sharp at all, as JT was mentioning.
03:24Yeah, and you guys see him on a regular basis.
03:26So you know, you know, when we've seen him here and, you know, win two years ago and obviously dominate five races and still lose last year, you know, it's definitely a different Jet.
03:36I just wonder, yeah, he's had two crashes, one in time practice in the Super Bowl.
03:41When he went down on that shoulder and, you know, okay, he tried to save it as long as possible, so maybe the impact wasn't that bad.
03:46But then, obviously, getting caught in that turn two incident with Tom Vial, which was completely a racing incident, you know, and a bad move on.
03:56Well, not a bad move.
03:56It was an OJ, wasn't it, from Tom Vial in the end that just took them both out or took Jet out.
04:01And you say, JT, you mentioned wind in the sails for Jet Lawrence.
04:06It's pretty much what it was.
04:07You know, you fight your way through and you're already thinking, man, you know, yeah, it would be nice to win.
04:12You don't necessarily need the title King of Paris, but you just want to win the overall event, you know.
04:16And to do that, you need to be up there fighting from the beginning and eighth in race one and then, you know, third in race two or whatever.
04:24And, you know, you're already chasing it now.
04:26And maybe we're just seeing a different Jet just trying to get through the weekend now.
04:30Who knows?
04:30Well, and I think what he would be frustrated with is things just haven't gone smoothly.
04:35Then you finally get the start in race three and you immediately are pushed to third and you have to chase them down again, right?
04:42It's just being sharp and executing when the opportunity arises.
04:46And that's normally what he thrives on.
04:47When opportunity arises, he takes absolute advantage of it and capitalizes.
04:52And he has been the exact opposite of that so far this weekend.
04:54Yeah, we mentioned it in the previous race where all of a sudden from out of nowhere he can find two seconds.
04:59And then that momentum just keeps pushing him forward.
05:01Yeah, you know, he doesn't have the elite pace, right?
05:05Like he's not setting the quickest laps.
05:07And it's just you don't know if it's, you know, it's hard to analyze exactly what's going on in November.
05:12But maybe he hasn't been riding a lot.
05:14Maybe, you know, there could be a myriad of things.
05:17But this is not the same Jet Lawrence look that has won him multiple championships.
05:23I can promise you that.
05:24Pulled four tenths on Cooper that lap, Jet did.
05:26So he can put together a little better lap.
05:28But still the third under best.
05:30Yeah, under lowered it.
05:31And Malcolm was faster than it too.
05:33So, absolutely.
05:35And still eight minutes to go.
05:37We've got to ride it down in the whoops.
05:39A couple of corners from where these guys are now.
05:41Picking himself up.
05:42Oh, that's Roman Pep.
05:43He's had a rough couple of mains here.
05:45Last of the second main and now down in the whoops.
05:47We kind of talked about how this race can be a way to gauge yourself.
05:52And you just wonder, does, you know, Jet.
05:56Oh.
05:57We've got Jet down.
05:58Jet down on the entry.
06:00Just been one of those days for the number 18.
06:06Shaking his head.
06:07Did he wash out coming into that first whoop?
06:10Because it's right at the beginning of the whoops there.
06:12Would have had to lose the front.
06:13Maybe to lose the rear.
06:15I mean, obviously lost traction no matter what.
06:17Marshall Welton's down, getting up.
06:19Marshall was on.
06:19Had a nice build-up main event going there.
06:21He was seven for a while.
06:23Yeah, down to ninth.
06:24And then, obviously, he's going to pick himself up,
06:26losing another couple of positions.
06:28Malcolm Stewart, though.
06:29And Jet Lawrence had just set the fastest lap last time around as well.
06:3245-3.
06:33And so maybe just starting to push.
06:36But we've mentioned it as we mention it every year, actually.
06:39The dirt here, when it starts to, you know,
06:43there's a little bit of moisture comes up overnight.
06:45There's dirt.
06:46Sunlight gets thick.
06:47Yeah, just Sunday probably.
06:48And I'm watching him down here off screen, speaking with his mechanic.
06:51And he did the prototypical lost the front end maneuver there coming out of the corner.
06:55So what I was starting to say right before he crashed was this race can be a gauge for a lot of things.
07:01And you just wonder for Jet, you know, with Johnny O'Mara, all the people in his program, his father, Darren,
07:06going to be like, hey, we have some work to do.
07:09Like, that wasn't the weekend we needed to have.
07:12So maybe it is a kind of wake-up call focus-wise going into the rest of the offseason.
07:18How dangerous is that, then, for the competition, you know, moving forward?
07:21Because, you know, an angry Jet, you've seen him when he's not happy with how things are going,
07:26and all of a sudden he turns it around and turns it around, like, pretty impressively.
07:30He's going to need a good heavy offseason.
07:32He's got an Australian race in seven days.
07:34You know, that'll be interesting to see if he can turn it around there,
07:37or even if he maybe doesn't even line up, if there's an issue with shoulder or anything else.
07:42But a good battle here on screen right now between two French heroes.
07:45We mentioned at the beginning of the day, didn't we, JT, in terms of who is the favorite French rider?
07:51Is it Subaru S because of his 450 experience, or is it Tom Vial, even with his skill set,
07:56first time out on a 450, and you said Subaru S may be a little bit long in the tooth,
08:00and is that evidence right there as Vial nips up the inside, gains a position, moves into fourth?
08:04Yeah, I mean, just think, you know, caliber of racer, Vial certainly takes the nod.
08:10MX2 World Champion, two-time 250 Supercross Champion, like, those speak for themselves.
08:15But Subes is a force to be reckoned with at this race period, so it doesn't shock me.
08:20Upside down in the whoops.
08:21Oh, are the other warrants.
08:22Is that Hunter down?
08:23Yeah.
08:24So Hunter's upside down in the whoops, and slow to pick himself up there.
08:27He's taken a bit of a beating by the bike.
08:29Oh, that's terrible to see.
08:31So not in a hurry to get up, Hunter Lawrence.
08:37Boy, we haven't seen this in a while, maybe ever.
08:39I mean, this is A1-esque, 2025, right?
08:44Well, right now, we have 200, we got the Lawrence's ENFing.
08:46No, no, I'm just saying, but this type of, like, what's going on type of performance.
08:50Yeah, absolutely.
08:51Well, Mookie's going to come around here, and he's going to see Hunter Lawrence there,
08:55who was behind him a minute ago.
08:57So that puts Cooper Webb up into second.
09:00Tom Vial is going to be in the third.
09:02Yeah, Hunter's a little beat up over there.
09:06Like I say, he's up on his feet.
09:07Climbed off the track.
09:08He's back down.
09:08That crash reminds me of Anaheim 2 2022.
09:16Huge whoops and kind of over the front type thing.
09:19Hate to see that.
09:21Boy, watching Vial in suits right now, I have a lot of respect for Cedric Super Ross.
09:24He gives these American ringers a lot of problems here every year.
09:29He's a great rider, really nice guy, very underrated.
09:31I made a comment to somebody that he's ridden every bike brand and everything now, just about.
09:37And now he's on a Honda.
09:38I mean, I've seen the guy on two strokes here.
09:40I've seen him on four strokes.
09:42He's ridden everything.
09:43Everything, yeah.
09:44Cedric Super Ross.
09:45He's got a lot of parts in his car.
09:47He's got a lot of rear sprockets.
09:49No one cares.
09:49He'll make a good test rider.
09:50Yeah.
09:51Yeah, no one cares about my racing.
09:52But when I stopped racing Germany, he kind of took the torch.
09:55Yeah.
09:55Like he was the guy that was, when I left, he was doing all the winning.
09:59Yeah.
10:00There's one of Lawrence getting some attention.
10:01Yeah.
10:01Eric Perrinard down there as well, having a quick word with him.
10:04And, yeah.
10:06But look at this, though, for Malcolm Stewart.
10:08Stayed out of trouble.
10:09Got to the front early both races prior to this one.
10:12He's done the same in race three.
10:14And the head of the course there, as it says on screen.
10:17Three and a half minutes ago, 12-second lead from Malcolm Stewart over Cooper Webb.
10:22A little bit of help.
10:23Yeah.
10:23A little bit of help with that.
10:24But, boy, how the turns have tabled here.
10:27Yeah.
10:27Jeez.
10:28The turns have tabled.
10:29Yeah.
10:30Perfect.
10:31Because that was like a turbo.
10:32Yeah, I know.
10:33Need to explain to me.
10:36Yeah.
10:36Wow.
10:37You've got to wonder if we'll see Hunter tomorrow.
10:39I'm just glad to see him walking off.
10:40Yeah.
10:40Yeah.
10:40Honestly.
10:41We'll turn around and, yeah.
10:45It's going to be a Lawrence regroup meeting here in about an hour, I think.
10:49Lawrence is really wishing he would have been here.
10:51Family meeting.
10:54Yeah.
10:55So Malcolm Stewart, Rockstar Energy, Husqvarna.
10:57He has been pretty much meticulous.
10:59He's been inch perfect all night.
11:00Cornering like he's on rails.
11:02Just nailing everything.
11:03He's looking like he's on a training run.
11:04Sort of mid-season training run where everything is just clicking like clockwork, you know?
11:10I haven't seen him put a foot wrong.
11:12Like I said earlier, sixth time on the bike since SMX.
11:15Banged up.
11:16Told me he was just happy to be here and put some laps in and reevaluate.
11:20Nothing he told me led me to believe that we would be seeing this at all.
11:24Not.
11:24Malcolm Stewart.
11:25So I'm very impressed.
11:26I already sort of had thought of my narrative about his race and his weekend and where I was going to go with it.
11:32But I've got to change that.
11:33I've got to write everything, rip up my story and write again because this guy is rewriting the story tonight.
11:39James Stewart won in 2008, Versi, on the Yamaha.
11:45The next year was Justin Brayton.
11:46He doesn't let anybody forget it either.
11:49Well, James decided to not participate in race three.
11:54JB leaves that part out.
11:55He does.
11:56He does.
11:56But I was there.
11:57I was racing.
11:58So just under two minutes plus a lap to go.
12:00Cooper Webb is eyeing up a second place.
12:03That was the year of the, hey, we're going to invert the start for race three.
12:07James said, no, you're not.
12:09Not if I'm involved.
12:10Also, we have 15 riders start this race.
12:12Four of them are out.
12:14Ten riders on the track right now.
12:15Yeah, Amber has not completed a lap.
12:19Jet Lawrence is out.
12:20Roman Pap has pulled out.
12:22And the Valentin, I think, was also pulled out.
12:24And then Hunter Lawrence.
12:24So 11 to 15.
12:25So 10 riders circulating at the moment.
12:28Been an expensive day.
12:29Yeah, absolutely.
12:30Or expensive final race, I should say.
12:32Hopefully there's no problems for the riders lining up tomorrow.
12:36But Cooper Webb there.
12:38Still want to see a replay of Hunter's crash.
12:39I know exactly what Jet did, like we talked about.
12:42But geez, Hunter's probably wasn't very good.
12:46That's a drop in front end and go for a ride.
12:48I'm just wondering whether that would be in a replay in the highlights thing.
12:51They may have got it.
12:52But anyway, less than a minute to go.
12:55Tom Vial eyeing up a top three finish.
12:57Old Gigi down there.
12:58Giacomo Garibaldi will be having kittens, won't he?
13:01Top three finish.
13:03Having kittens?
13:04Yeah.
13:04Sparrow's knees?
13:06Okay.
13:06I haven't been overly impressed with Tom Vial tonight, but also here he is.
13:11He's doing okay.
13:13You know, first ride on a 450 in Supercross.
13:16In a binary judgment, third place is great.
13:19Yeah.
13:20Yeah.
13:20There's a lot to unpack.
13:21Exactly.
13:22About getting to third.
13:23But you know what?
13:24In terms of riders and confidence and team owners, team managers in kind of going, yep,
13:29blah, blah, blah, blah.
13:30They look at the other side of the coin.
13:31He's not racing Supercross anyway.
13:33Yeah.
13:33So take it for what it is.
13:35Yeah.
13:36Solid opening night.
13:36Just like we saw Hayden Deegan's debut last week.
13:40He got a third overall.
13:41Lots of debate about that.
13:42But third is third.
13:43And you're standing on the podium.
13:44And there's something to be said for that.
13:46Yep.
13:47So Malcolm Stewart then.
13:49Time has ticked up.
13:50It's one lap to go.
13:51He is over on the Milwaukee jump, heading in towards turn one.
13:57Here is Mitchell Harrison.
13:58Harrison is in fifth position at the moment.
14:01I mean, he's put 20 seconds into Cooper Webb.
14:03Yeah.
14:04And I'm sure Coop's backed it off.
14:07No question.
14:08Fair.
14:09But still.
14:12Yeah.
14:12From what we had in the first race, where it was action through the first couple of corners,
14:17this last race has been a complete polar opposite to that in terms of that excitement and, you
14:23know, that anticipation and the, you know, everything else.
14:26But checkered flag getting ready for Malcolm Stewart, who goes into his final lap because
14:32his time ticked away whilst he, just after he'd passed the line last time around.
14:36So this is a bit of a parade lap for him, if you like, with that gap over Cooper Webb.
14:42Nearly 22 seconds.
14:43He's going to be in dreamland, isn't he, right now?
14:47Yeah.
14:47I mean, he looks so sharp still.
14:51And earlier on, we were thinking, yeah, six times on the bike, good first race.
14:55Can he hold it together for a second one?
14:57Yes.
14:57Will this double distance in the final race almost kind of catch him out?
15:01The answer has been no.
15:02Malcolm Stewart goes 1-1-1 on day one here in Paris as he leads going into day two.
15:08And on those kind of performances, it's going to take a brave man to bet against him
15:11doing something similar to come away as the king of Paris tomorrow.
15:15Well, really, just Cooper Webb, right?
15:16That's all that stands between Malcolm and getting a king of Paris.
15:20Does Malcolm have one or no?
15:21No.
15:21No, he doesn't.
15:22So he's going for his first one.
15:23He's a veteran of this race.
15:24But just really, right now, for how it's going, Cooper Webb and him will be battling
15:28for this king tomorrow, king title tomorrow.
15:30So Cooper Webb crossed the line second.
15:32We wait for Tom Vial.
15:33Here he is.
15:34The French fans will have enjoyed that as well.
15:36Top three finish for Tom.
15:38But Cedric Subarat and Mitchell Harrison, who's already over the line, they will round out
15:43your top five.
15:43Then it'll be Escoffier, Walton, Harville, Camparese, and Adrian Malaval.
15:47But that does not tell the full story, guys.
15:49We know that.
15:49We'll unpack that in the brief highlights that we will get in a few moments from now.
15:54But Malcolm Stewart, three wins tonight.
15:59Number one finger in the air.
16:01He deserves that.
16:02Yeah, that's great.
16:03Great job by Malcolm.
16:03Great job by the whole team.
16:05I know a couple of people here from WP to help him out.
16:08You know, a couple of them.
16:09Yeah, Martin from Holland.
16:10Martin is here to help him out from WP.
16:12And then, you know, it's Malcolm and his mechanic from the USA.
16:16And Roger Loss.
16:18And Art and Roger.
16:19Yeah.
16:20Roger Lasson.
16:21MX Culture.
16:23Yeah.
16:23So, yeah, Malcolm lapped up to fifth.
16:26He lapped fifth place.
16:27Mitchell Harrison in that race.
16:28That's pretty good.
16:29Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
16:31It's a percentage of people that are listening right now that have any idea what MX Culture is.
16:36No.
16:370.01%.
16:380.1%.
16:39It is a great reference, though.
16:40He's in my phone as MX Culture.
16:41That's amazing.
16:43Yeah.
16:45Smile says it all.
16:46And, dude, he's going to get more Milwaukee tools if he keeps this up.
16:48That'll make him a...
16:49Dude, he'll be buying shares in Milwaukee if he keeps this up.
16:52Absolutely.
16:53With these kind of paydays tonight.
16:54Cooper Webb looking, I don't know, not happy, but, you know, I guess any time you get beat that much, you're, you're, you're, you're, oh, okay.
17:01Just having the big debrief with, uh...
17:03Yeah.
17:04Peanut is mechanic.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:05Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:06Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:07Yep.
17:08Yep.
17:08Yep.
17:08Yep.
17:08Yep.
17:09Yep.
