Time to hit the road.

Where, there was no shortage of road races to choose from this past weekend with more than half a dozen events lighting up the local running scene.

Some athletes even went back-to-back, lacing up on both days.

And leading the way with stamina to spare were Christopher Mitchell and Alexia John, who showed they've got endurance for days speeding to victories in their respective races on Saturday and Sunday.

00:09These animals were rescued by Rennies Orphanage and Animal Rescue Roar that were put on display
00:15to spread the word about their existence.
00:18Apart from learning about animal rehabilitation efforts, participants in the 5k got an opportunity
00:24to get their eyes tested by Eye Assist Optical in the Hercules Myopia Run.
00:29The hilly race organizer Val Polito spoke about their idea behind the 5k.
00:34Well, we're really trying to raise awareness and raise funds for kids with myopia.
00:40A lot of kids have myopia, they don't know they have it, parents don't know they have it and
00:44then there are the sector of kids who have it and they simply can't afford glasses or eye
00:49care.
00:50Our job was simply to raise funds to one, bring awareness and two, help them afford glasses
00:55where they couldn't have afforded glasses before.
00:58The hilly race with photos by Runner's Life was won by UE Half Marathon champion Alexi
01:02Kiesa in 15 minutes 55 seconds, Darius Harding second 16 minutes 19 seconds and Donald Francis
01:09third 17 minutes 19 seconds.
01:13Alexia John powered her way to victory in 20 minutes 47 seconds, second going to April Francis
01:1922 minutes 23 seconds and third Aquiles Keith 25 minutes 39 seconds.
01:23Meantime Subway wrapped up their debut series in road running with their 12km race in Tobago.
01:32The race was won by Christopher Mitchell in 15 minutes 18 seconds, Keith Sobers and Kwame
01:38second and third.
01:39I want to thank God for giving me health and strength to come out here today to take part
01:44and be victorious in this race and I hope that I have a long life and long life to come
01:49back out next year and defend my title.
01:51Alexia John topped the women there as well, 53 minutes 7 seconds with Francis and Kenya Muir
01:58second and third.
02:00The course was great, it was challenging, the course was very challenging, it had a lot of
02:05inclines but it was a very scenic route.
02:07We passed along the coastline by the port, by the Tobago side and it was really nice.
02:14The community event raised proceeds for the Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
02:18We want to continue raising awareness for the Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
02:22We want to eradicate gender-based violence and this is how we are going to start doing it
02:27by partnerships on the island with the folks that will help us get there.
