00:00Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamala Pesad-Bissessa has asked me to share her warmest congratulations with the team.
00:08She joins me in saluting your achievement and in celebrating your representation of Trinidad and Tobago with pride and dignity.
00:19As Minister, I want to assure you that this government remains committed to supporting our athletes fully on and off
00:30the field of play.
00:32Minister of Sport Philip Watts also thanked the parents and coaches of the athletes who represented the national team at
00:39the Elite Pan Am Cycling Championships.
00:41They won a total of six medals.
00:44Meantime, double gold medalist Nicholas Paul was thankful for the support by all.
00:48For me, it's always a great feeling and I could say on behalf of myself and the team that I
00:53want to wish Trinidad and Tobago and to tell them thanks.
00:57I think that's the message I want to bring forward because I mean without you all and all the support
01:02that you give us, it wouldn't be as memorable as it is.
01:07Because we could go out there and put our twin island on the map and I think for myself and
01:12the team as well,
01:13when we go out there and represent as well as we did, I think it's always a great feeling.
01:18So I just want to say thanks to each and everyone for coming out here today and for always supporting
01:23us.
01:24Cyclist Danielle Campbell, who won gold, says she wanted more medals.
01:27For me, we all know that I love to win.
01:33Unfortunately, I only came back with one goal.
01:38I wanted two more.
01:39It did not happen and I also wanted us to, you know, medal in the Madison event.
01:43It did not happen.
01:44But, you know, sometimes that's just how it goes.
01:50She congratulated her brother on getting two bronze medals as well.
01:53I know my success also drives him and pushes him forward because, yeah, your sister can't always be, you know,
02:00on top of you all the time.
02:02So it's good that he finally got his own and, you know, is back on track to achieve his desires
02:10in the sports.
02:13Other than that, I mean, we can only look ahead.
02:18It would be nice to see a sustainable, you know, environment, more staff on hands.
02:26I mean, it was a really big team out there, you know, to keep things more smooth and who knows,
02:31maybe more medals will come in.
02:33As for Hakeem Campbell, who won double bronze, he was pleased that they made the best of the competition despite
02:39some challenges.
02:40The experience out there, for me, it wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst.
02:46There was a lot of complications with the team out there, but we did well to manage them and we
02:54were able to perform under the circumstances.
