Transcript
00:04Running at midnight in Chagaramas, it will go down as another accomplishment on the bucket list of the 700 athletes
00:11deranged enough to complete the imagination of a race organizer brave enough to push the envelope.
00:17They can now look back on this race on a random Friday with evidence in the form of a medal
00:22that this actually happened.
00:24In Saturday at around 2 p.m., I was afraid participants may not show up or they may be worried
00:31about the weather, but as you can see, they're on the full half.
00:36After all, who will believe that on a night forecast for rain, they found an activity more comforting than their
00:42beds?
00:42First time running in Chagaramas. 800, I think it was 800 runners here tonight. First time for a lot of
00:51these runners running on the red carpet. A lot of the runners here know what the red carpet is in
00:55Chagaramas.
00:56It was important. It was a loop. So again, being here to support and to motivate to get it done
01:03was important. Subway was here for the runners as we usually are at the races.
01:07Then there's the front of the pack. Athletes that use these competitions as practice with the expectation that there may
01:15be harder races ahead.
01:16Personally, to be honest, I wasn't really training for the half-marathon. My team and I preparing for the upcoming
01:22track season with the CAC games, Commonwealth Games and stuff.
01:26So this race was really like. It was like more of a test of my fitness. And it shows that
01:31tonight the shows are still in some good half-marathon shape.
01:35And now thankful to the Almighty God for keeping me strong throughout the entire race to bring me victory.
01:40First time winning this event as well. So thankful and thankful for knowing the race and a success for this.
01:46Tafari Waldron winning this race in 1 hour, 13 minutes, 54 seconds. Alexi Kisa second and Joshua Hunt third.
01:55And it's not common that fourth place gets a mention. But are we looking at the return of Colin Pereira?
02:00He topped the 30-39 age group in 1 hour, 21 minutes, 55 seconds.
02:06Let's see if his shoe still fits the full marathon on May 10th as well.
02:10Alexia John finished first for the women in an impressive time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, 50 seconds.
02:18The race was good. It was a good race for me.
02:20Give it up, give it up, give it up, give it up.
02:21It was about 80% effort. I just tried to keep calm for the first 10 miles and cruising and
02:27I was able to finish on a good time.
02:30April Francis came second, 1 hour, 38 minutes, 58 seconds.
02:34Gilius Keith third, 1 hour, 44 minutes, 12 seconds.
02:38Fast enough to get a beautiful sleep when she returns home as the sun comes up.
02:44Sergio Dufour, TV6port.
