00:30It's hard to believe, but General Motors is returning to Europe with the Cadillac brand after years of absence.
00:36But the real highlight could be the Chevrolet Equinox EV.
00:40A vehicle that seems tailor-made for the European market.
00:45This electric SUV combines an attractive price with impressive range and could therefore be a game-changer.
00:51With an EPA range of around 514 kilometers and a starting price of around 35,000 United States dollars, around 600 euros, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is one of the most affordable all-electric vehicles on the U.S. market.
01:07The previous model with a combustion engine was a best-seller for Chevrolet for over a decade, with over 250,000 units sold annually.
01:20Now the Equinox EV has to show if it can continue this success.
01:25This is especially true when it comes to range and reliability, qualities that customers have valued for years.
01:30A YouTuber subjected the electric SUV to an intensive test to determine whether it meets the needs of long-distance drivers.
01:41He drove at a constant speed of 113 kilometers per hour on a busy New Jersey highway to determine the real-life range at highway speeds.
01:49Under optimal conditions, a fully charged battery, correct tire pressure, the most efficient driving mode, and a pleasantly cool air conditioning system at 21 degrees Celsius, the NOC C40 achieved an impressive range of 488 kilometers.
02:05This even surpasses the EPA estimate of 468 kilometers.
02:09With an average fuel consumption of 5.5 kilometers per kilowatt-hour, the vehicle demonstrated efficiency that is truly remarkable for its size.
02:19An interesting discovery from the test was the actual battery capacity.
02:24While GM lists the usable capacity as 85 kilowatt-hours, the vehicle consumed 90.2 kilowatts according to the onboard computer.
02:31Furthermore, charging losses of up to 18% were observed during two rapid charging cycles from 0 to 100%, which is higher than usual.
02:42This could indicate that the usable capacity of the battery is closer to 90 kilowatt-hours than officially stated.
02:49But what does that mean?
02:51Could GM be deliberately making conservative claims about battery capacity?
02:55It's not uncommon for the measurement of usable capacity to vary depending on the calculation method and external influences such as temperature or battery load.
03:08It's possible that GM is proceeding cautiously to exceed customer expectations or play it safe in the event of warranty issues.
03:16However, there is no concrete evidence of this.
03:20In any case, the Chevrolet Equinox EV shows that it has the potential to conquer the European market.
03:25It's combination of price, range, and efficiency could be exactly what many have been waiting for.
03:34We're excited to see if this model will soon be on our roads.
