00:00Welcome to the new video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, we're all about the brand new Kia Karens Klavis EV.
00:08A versatile electric vehicle with SUV character, which has been specially developed for everyday use and is also the first all-electric car from Kia to come from India.
00:17This model marks an important step in Kia's global electrification strategy and has been designed to offer reliable, comfortable, and sustainable mobility both in cities and on longer journeys.
00:33The Karens Klavis EV is a vehicle that not only impresses with its modern design and technological sophistication, but also offers practical versatility.
00:43Buyers can choose between two battery variants.
00:47Either one with 40.2 kWh or a larger one with 51.4 kWh.
00:55Depending on the variant, this enables ranges of up to 404 or approximately 490 km.
01:04This is impressive, especially for an electric vehicle that is clearly geared towards everyday use and the needs of families and commuters.
01:10Thanks to the ability to quickly charge the battery with up to 100 kW of direct current, the charge level can be increased from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes.
01:24A real advantage when on the road.
01:26The Karens Klavis EV is also impressive in terms of performance.
01:33The electric drives offer either around 135 hp and 225 nm or around 171 hp and 255 nm of torque.
01:42This means that rapid acceleration is no problem, even when fully loaded.
01:48The performance is supported by a sophisticated thermal management system consisting of a liquid-cooled battery pack and an active air flap for temperature control.
01:57The IP67-certified battery housing protects against water and dust, allowing the vehicle to be used without any problems even in adverse conditions.
02:09The intelligent recuperation system with iPetal 2.0 provides additional comfort.
02:15It enables true single-pedal operation and automatically adapts to the flow of traffic in auto mode.
02:22This achieves maximum efficiency while maintaining pleasant driving characteristics.
02:30Inside, the Karens Klavis EV offers a variety of high-quality features, including a dual panoramic display with a total screen diagonal of 68 cm for infotainment and vehicle information.
02:45The equipment also includes an air-conditioned front row of seats, an electrically-adjustable driver's seat position, a premium audio system from Bose with eight speakers and ambient lighting with 64 colors.
02:58The whole thing is complemented by a generous two-part panoramic glass roof and an elegant center console with a floating look.
03:05Another highlight is the so-called vehicle-to-load function V2L, which allows external devices to be powered via the vehicle battery.
03:16Ideal for outdoor activities, working on the road or in emergency situations.
03:21The second row of seats is particularly flexible and can be electrically folded down at the touch of a button.
03:27The so-called Boss Mode allows the front passenger seat to be conveniently adjusted from the back seat of practical detail for family trips or longer journeys with several people.
03:38The Karens Klavis EV also leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to safety.
03:43A total of 18 standard safety features are on board, including six airbags, an electronic stability program, a startup aid, a hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat anchor points and a rollover sensor.
03:56In addition, a modern Level 2 AIDA system is installed, which offers over 20 assistance functions.
04:07These include, among others, intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane departure warning, emergency braking assistant for intersections and pedestrians as well as a blind spot and cross-traffic warning including automatic braking function.
04:21Technology enthusiasts can look forward to more than 90 connected vehicle functions.
04:28These include, among other things, the option to conveniently plan charging times via an app, find charging locations via the integrated route planner and analyze energy consumption in real time.
04:39Over-the-air updates keep this system up-to-date at all times and users have access to 11,000 charging points via the MyKia system.
04:46In addition, KIA offers a special service called MyConvenience IL, which includes regular maintenance, extended warranty and roadside assistance.
04:57I-supported manuals and live video support are even available for scheduling maintenance appointments.
05:04With a length of around 4.4 meters, a width of around 1.8 meters and a height of around 1.6 meters, the Karens Klavis EV offers generous space for passengers and luggage.
05:16The wheelbase is around 2.7 meters.
05:21Ideal conditions for comfortable travel, even with several people.
05:27The vehicle is produced entirely at the KIA plant in India, which not only guarantees short supply chains, but also underlines KIA's commitment to sustainability and regional value creation.
05:37The model is offered in 4 equipment variants and 6 colors.
05:45Prices vary depending on the market, but are likely to start at around 16,000 euros for the basic version in the Indian market and rise to around 20,000 euros depending on the equipment.
05:55Given the technology and features on offer, this appears to be a very competitive offering in the compact electric SUV segment.
