28 October - National Morning Forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:01Hello, good morning.
00:02Another bright but blustery October day is expected.
00:05Plenty of leaves swirling around, I imagine, and also a fair few showers, even longer spells
00:10of rain in places.
00:11Two main areas of activity, the south and south-west of England, some more prolonged
00:15rain, or at least showery rain here, and at first some heavy showers and prolonged rain
00:20for central and southern Scotland.
00:22Then it's more of a typical mix of sunny spells and showers for many.
00:26Through northern England, the Midlands, Wales and south-east England, mostly dry.
00:32Still plenty of sunny spells around, but blustery and that wind bouncing over the Pennines through
00:37the day will cause some significant gusts.
00:40Otherwise it's going to be roughly average as far as the temperatures are concerned.
00:4615, perhaps 16 in the south, 12 to 13 further north, still on the cold side for the north
00:51and north-east of Scotland.
00:54Then heading into Tuesday, some heavier and more prolonged showers push into much of
00:57Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England.
00:59And this area of rain will blossom across central parts of Wales into the Midlands through the
01:06night-time.
01:07A lot of cloud here as well, so that will keep temperatures into the double figures.
01:11But in the north, it's a slightly colder night, with temperatures dipping in some places
01:15down to the low single figures.
01:17We've got low pressure across western Scotland first thing Wednesday.
01:21That's going to slowly fill and work its way across Scotland through the day.
01:24This trailing weather front bringing a damp day to many parts of England and Wales.
01:30And those outbreaks of rain will turn heavier and more persistent across Wales and the south-west
01:34during the morning, pushing then into the Midlands, central-southern England.
01:38And it will be on and off for East Anglia and the south-east, more showery in these areas.
01:42The north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, again blustery showers and longer
01:47spells of rain, along with a gusty wind and areas of cloud.
01:51But there will be some brightness in between.
01:53Temperatures in the north, 8, 9, 10 Celsius, further south, 12 to 15 degrees.
02:00And it stays mixed for the rest of the week, Thursday, Friday and into the weekend.
02:04Further areas of low pressure coming along, one or two of these could be fairly deep with
02:08some strong winds at times.
