00:00Hi there, certainly compared with spring and summer this year, autumn has been wet, not actually making up for the deficit that we saw in rainfall through spring and summer, but the amount of rainfall we've seen recently has caused issues and we're going to see more wet weather coming in overnight.
00:19In fact, that rain reaches parts of Wales and the southwest by around 8 or 9pm and then it simply envelops the southern half of the UK overnight, increasingly heavy and persistent, more showery towards the southeast and still some showers around for Northern Ireland into Northern England, Southern Scotland, one or two into the north of Scotland with a northerly wind here.
00:39It's going to be a cold night, a touch of frost across northern parts of Scotland under clear spells, but that's where the best of the sunshine will be first thing Saturday.
00:47A lot of cloud cover elsewhere and certainly a soggy start through much of Wales, the south and southwest and then that heavy rain moving through the Midlands into the east of England where it only slowly peels away through the afternoon could cause some issues given the fact that it's just going to be raining all day in some places.
01:06It's going to wrap round then into northern England, so a return of the wet weather by the end of the afternoon with some flakes of snow over the hills.
01:13And we'll also see some showers continuing for Northern Scotland, but in between actually for much of the rest of Scotland into Northern Ireland, sunny spells developing and we will see some brighter skies, Western England, the Midlands into Wales by the afternoon, but with some blustery showers.
01:28So, an unsettled day for many and it's going to feel cold in places either under the rainfall or in the colder air that is going to be pushing into Scotland and Northern Ireland and then pushing across the rest of the UK on Saturday night.
01:43But we've still got the system clearing the east and that's going to continue to bring showery rain into the north and eastern Scotland and eastern England as the night goes on along with a strong wind.
01:53Where we've got lighter winds and clear skies and that colder air pushing southwards elsewhere, it is a frosty start to Sunday, so certainly a colder feel compared with recent mornings, but actually plenty of bright skies.
02:07And Sunday is a reasonable day, we have low pressure moving away and a ridge of high pressure moving in to replace it, a temporary ridge, one day only and a temporary cold spell with temperatures struggling after that frosty start.
02:24But a crisp but bright autumn day is expected.
02:29The final day of autumn, in fact, before meteorological winter begins on Monday and it is looking like a decent one.
02:34So if you've got outdoor plans this weekend, Sunday is the day to plan for.
02:40Nevertheless, we do have a change in the way as we end Sunday afternoon, increasingly cloudy to the west, outbreaks of rain moving into Northern Ireland and that will eventually lead to a particularly wet day on Monday.
