27 October - National Evening Forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there.
00:01Rain followed by showers overnight with some bright spells expected at times on Tuesday.
00:08That kind of cycle will be on repeat through the rest of this week as Atlantic low after
00:14Atlantic low turns up.
00:16Here's the next one.
00:17This is already bringing cloudier skies and outbreaks of rain into Northern Ireland.
00:20It will spread its rain and some mountain snow across Scotland as well as parts of England
00:24and Wales overnight.
00:25But it doesn't last long.
00:26It swiftly moves through.
00:28Replaced then by dawn with a lot of showers for some places, particularly parts of Scotland,
00:33Northern Ireland, Northwest England and this area of showery rain will linger across the
00:38south of England.
00:40In between some clear spells, particularly for parts of Wales, the Midlands, Eastern England,
00:44chilly in the far north of Scotland.
00:46We've still got the cold air there but elsewhere typical temperatures for a night time in October.
00:52In some clear slots we'll see temperatures dipped to the mid single figures otherwise
00:56it's typically 8 to 12 degrees first thing.
00:59And we do have a lot of showers to talk about during Tuesday morning along with a gusty wind.
01:05That wind bouncing over the Pennines for example to give some strong gusts for North East England
01:09for a time.
01:10And it's going to be blustery over the mountains of Northern UK throughout much of the day.
01:15That wind bringing in plenty of showers.
01:16The most frequent and heaviest downpours will be across Western Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:21but there will be showers just about anywhere else.
01:23A decent gap between the showers for parts of Wales, the Midlands, Eastern England where
01:28there will be some sunshine through the day but thicker cloud arrives into the southwest.
01:33Although slightly warmer air here, 15 or 16 Celsius as we go into Tuesday afternoon.
01:39That area of cloud and some outbreaks of rain will skirt across southern parts of England
01:45into Wales and the Midlands overnight, blossoming into a larger, more general area of rain, heavy at times.
01:52Meanwhile, it stays very showery to the north of the UK.
01:55Gusty winds swirling around an air of low pressure sitting off the west of Scotland
01:59will bring further downpours to much of Scotland, particularly the north and the west
02:04as well as Northern Ireland and Northern England.
02:06In between those showers in the north, well, we'll see some clear spells and temperatures
02:10falling away so a little colder compared with the previous night but double figures first
02:15thing in the south.
02:17However, Wednesday across the southern third of the UK will be drab and damp.
02:23Nothing particularly heavy as far as the rain is concerned although it will be soggy for
02:26Wales and the southwest in particular.
02:29But for much of the Midlands, East Anglia, the south and southwest as well as parts of Wales
02:33it's just going to be raining on and off throughout much of the day.
02:37Further north, some brighter spells for Northern Ireland, Northern England and Scotland but again
02:42frequent showers, some longer spells of rain for Scotland and hill snow expected from some
02:47of these showers.
02:48A gusty day in the north and northwest but lighter winds further south and although it's
02:54not cold in the south it's not going to feel particularly pleasant I suspect under those
02:58dreary and damp conditions.
03:00Once all that sweeps through it stays changeable for the rest of the week perhaps with some
03:04deeper areas of low pressure bringing some stronger winds at times.
03:08We'll keep you updated right here on YouTube and you can find Alex Deacon's week ahead forecast
