04:42Welcome to Beyond the Tape.
04:43I'm your host, Mark Bassant.
04:44Welcome to our viewers across the world.
04:47Of course, our Caribbean viewers, as well as our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
04:52I do certainly hope everyone had a productive and enjoyable weekend.
04:58And, of course, there's been a lot happening over the last 24 to 48 hours.
05:04No doubt our prayers are with everybody in Jamaica as they are bracing for potentially
05:10the most powerful hurricane to hit that island since Hurricane Gilbert in 1988.
05:17It's Category 5 Melissa.
05:20And it's expected to hit around early morning Tuesday into...
05:25And what is pretty significant about this weather system is that it's moving so slowly
05:30that the meteorologists are saying it's going to sit on Jamaica for at least 24 hours with winds of about 165 miles per hour.
05:39Can you imagine that sitting just like the Hurricane Doran did in Bahamas?
05:45And it was a catastrophic destruction on that island a couple of years ago.
05:50So, we certainly hope all the Trinidadian students, as well as the Trinidadians that are there and the Jamaican people at all,
05:57our prayers are with you all.
05:58Please, everyone, try to be safe.
06:02You know, a lot of people are already complaining about the high winds.
06:05A lot of power lines are already down.
06:07There are some places in and around Jamaica.
06:10If you want to look at on the CNN website, there's live cameras showing you what it's looking like now.
06:16And I imagine there's an area called Flat Bridge, and that's a very small road.
06:23And every time there's major storms, that area is cut off from the rest of the area.
06:30So, that is an area where there's a small bridge.
06:34It's a flat road, but there's no barricade.
06:37So, they even expect that, you know, the erosion, the storm surge, and all these things will be affecting Jamaica over the next 24 to 48 hours.
06:48So, please, we hope that everyone in Jamaica stays safe.
06:53And no doubt, we also have some things happening here on the scene in Trinidad and Tobago.
06:58We had the arrival of the USS Gravely yesterday morning.
07:03Of course, a show of, you know, the government indicated that they are part here for training exercise over the next four days with the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force.
07:16That's the USS Gravely on your screens there arriving docked near the Hyatt where it will be for the next four days.
07:22And certainly, there's been a lot of speculation, there's a lot of talk, you know, there are people, questions, people have been spoken to in public questioning whether or not it's really because of, you know, this training exercise or for something else ulterior.
07:40And, of course, you know, in the last couple of hours on social media, you would have seen evidence of, you know, these helicopters, U.S. helicopters arriving in Shagaramas for the exercises planned over the next couple of days with our Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force.
08:01We understand U.S. personnel would have met with members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force yesterday as they continue this training over the next four days.
08:11And certainly, it's a very, you know, tense situation around Trinidad and Tobago.
08:15A lot of people are expressing concern with all this geopolitical things happening with the U.S. and Venezuela.
08:23And, of course, Trinidad and Tobago are caught in the middle, so to speak.
08:26So, we're hoping for the best possible outcome are peaceful, when I might say, as well.
08:30And then we also had some drama in Tobago as well.
08:34You know, a party boat sinking there during the carnival festivities, a party boat on Saturday around 4 p.m., 6.30, sorry.
08:44And my understanding is that this boat had sat in amongst the people.
08:48And then more persons came onto the boat.
08:51And that weight, of course, the back of the boat sank and it was grounded.
08:57So, definitely another dangerous situation there.
09:02Thankfully, the water is shallow in the area where it would have run aground.
09:08So, that is something that, you know, the authorities in Tobago will have to seriously look at in terms of these party boats and the capacity of these boats and the safety of these boats.
09:19All right. So, today is Monday.
09:21I've said a lot.
09:22And, of course, on Monday, I want to welcome Captain Valence Rambrath of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
09:27Welcome.
09:28Yeah, thanks, Mark.
09:29And a pleasant good evening to our viewers on Beyond the Tape and TV6.
09:34I missed last week, Monday, due to the Diwali holiday.
09:38And I trust and hope that, you know, all enjoyed that day.
09:44Mark, certainly a handful to deal with.
09:48And let me first start with the projected arrival of Hurricane Melissa to the doorsteps of Jamaica.
09:58And, Mark, if you look at the visual on the screen, it's a perfect symmetrical donut.
10:08Yes.
10:09And that is what you look for in a Category 5 hurricane.
10:13I know that if you're looking at it, the storm looks as if it's lining up with Kingston on the southern coast.
10:24You know, by now it would have gone further west, but the projection is for it to turn slowly and make a northeast track across Jamaica.
10:34This would be the first time you have a hurricane passing from south to north.
10:40All others pass from east to west.
10:43And you made a point about this hurricane staying, you know, almost stationary over Jamaica.
10:50So what you're looking at is the perfect storm.
10:53You have catastrophic winds.
10:55There are gusts expected up to 175 miles per hour.
11:00Storm surge.
11:01You have a lot of rainfall because rain is already falling in Jamaica.
11:05You have saturated soil and, therefore, when the thunderstorms come in, and these thunderstorms mark in a Category 5 hurricane, they're as tall as probably 2 and 3 miles.
11:21So it's a lot of water to dump and it's going to impact on the infrastructure of Jamaica.
11:27You know, in the songs we hear about the gullies, right, but they really, what we call the dry rivers in Trinidad, and those are going to be impacted severely.
11:37And you spoke about Flatbush.
11:40Yeah, Flatbridge.
11:41Flatbridge, right.
11:42Let me tell you, I've witnessed the destruction of Hurricane Dorian first time.
11:47I went to Bahamas.
11:48I spent a week there.
11:49I traveled to some of the islands that were badly devastated.
11:54And it is beyond me to comprehension to see piles and piles, mountains as high as buildings of debris, of cars, of buildings, of trees.
12:05It was just something that was stupendous for Dorian, which was, I think, a Category 4, right?
12:10Category 4.
12:11But that passed east-west, right?
12:13Yeah.
12:13This one, which is going from south to north, is going to be more impactful.
12:18And you're going to see a lot more than what you saw with Dorian, I'm sure.
12:23So we pray for the folks in Jamaica.
12:25Please stay safe.
12:27Your preparation time is about to run out.
12:30But any last-minute preparations, let them please do it.
12:33And we pray for you all and your safety.
12:36And the students as well.
12:37Of course.
12:37Of course.
12:39Yeah.
12:39And when we had this incident, I know you have to talk about some of the cities.
12:43Yeah, but I just wanted to mention about the party boat because we've seen that as a development in terms of the tourism landscape in Tobago.
12:51And while it's a welcome addition, it's really no real upgrade from what the normal reef boat was to a party boat.
13:02I know they did make some adjustments in terms of the height.
13:06But still, you have to calculate your weight and the buoyancy of the boat.
13:10And it seems as if these boats, they have to be regulated, licensed to operate as party boats in Tobago.
13:17And so, Mark, what I wanted to highlight really on this first part of the program really is that we did something like a rescue locate of a young girl in South Trinidad.
13:30She was from Central Trinidad.
13:32She went missing.
13:33Her name is Kim Wong.
13:35We had to spend an entire morning in San Fernando tracking and looking for her.
13:42And eventually, we got her and we were able to take her to the San Fernando police station.
13:46And then she was then passed on to the Chaguanas police station.
13:51But this is an idea of the type of work we do.
13:53And then another thing I want to highlight, Mark, is the fact that we have a number of persons who we believe harm would have come to.
14:02And there has been no leads, no further information on these persons.
14:07And a family from Enterprise reached out to me this week.
14:10We had highlighted this case before.
14:12So, this gentleman's name is Ainsworth Hubert Andrew.
14:18Right.
14:19And he is from Enterprise District.
14:22Mark, this young man, is one of the best crane operators on the port of Trinidad and Tobago.
14:29He's highly skilled.
14:31And in fact, he was employed on one of the best cranes used in the port operations.
14:37And he left his home to go to work in a TIDA, white TIDA vehicle.
14:42PCR 677.
14:45And he never arrived at the port.
14:48And it's been a while since he's been missing.
14:51A couple of months, right?
14:51Yeah, a few months.
14:53And we decided that we want to highlight his case today.
14:57Because since April, he's missing.
15:00And there must be somebody out there with information who could assist us in locating Ainsworth.
15:08His sisters are very distraught.
15:11And they don't know what else to do.
15:14So, we thought that we would bring it to the public's attention.
15:17And if you have information, please call your nearest police station.
15:21Or reach out to us at 799-1453.
15:25And Mark also, and I wasn't sure if I did it two weeks ago, but the family of Marlon Henwood, I don't know if I did it.
15:35That's why I brought it back on.
15:36Yes, we had this up.
15:37You had it up?
15:38So, it was from $10,000 to $40,000.
15:41$10,000 to $40,000.
15:41Right.
15:42And this is a Canadian-based family.
15:45And they really want to get some closure with respect to Marlon Henwood.
15:49They're originally from the Superior District.
15:53And they want to locate Marlon Henwood.
15:56So, if you have any information, he left the San Fernando General Hospital around that carnival period in 2025.
16:04And he cannot be located thus far.
16:08So, we're asking you, if you have information, to please reach out to us at 799-1453.
16:15All right.
16:16So, of course, these persons have been missing quite a while.
16:18So, we're hopeful that, as you said, Captain, if you have any information, please call the nearest police station, 800-TIPS.
16:25Or you can call the Hunter Search and Rescue at 799-1453.
16:30All right.
16:30It's Day 102 of the State of Emergency.
16:34We want to bring you up to date with the figures.
16:37Number of operations, 7,406.
16:40Target priority offenders, 2,508.
16:43Searches conducted, 48,637.
16:46Traffic operations, 4,932.
16:49Total persons arrested, 3,223.
16:54Traffic offenses detected, 29,488.
16:58Firearms recovered to date, 190.
17:01Ammunition recovered to date, 2,424 rounds.
17:06Of course, in that dangerous drug seized section, we have a rise again in cannabis of 623,189.98 grams of cannabis.
17:17Of course, the rest stays the same.
17:19So, certainly, you know, when you look at that category of the traffic offenses, they're inching to 30,000.
17:24I mean, I think on Friday, it was like 28-something thousand.
17:28So, over the weekend, you see that trend moving almost at 2,000 over the weekend, which gets us close to 30,000.
17:36Right, but if you cross-reference that with respect to the amount of accidents we've been having over the weekends, you know, we've spoken about this, that as soon as a Friday evening arrives, you start to see an increase in road traffic accidents.
17:52And I think this has been proactive, but there is also a link with crime, movement on the road, and this is a proactive approach because you need to control your streets and your roads and your highways when you're dealing with a crime.
18:10Crime. And so, I guess this is the objective of the officers, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, and we cannot fault them for it.
18:20We may feel inconvenience. We may feel that, you know, we have to wait a while.
18:25But that is the price we have to pay if we have to really get our hands on the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago.
18:33Road, guns, narcotics, and firearms, they're all linked.
18:40All right, let's take a quick look now at our headlines.
19:03So, those are some of the headlines over the last 24 hours.
19:06We're going to take a short break, and when we come back, we'll have more.
19:10We're going to take a short break, and we'll have more.
19:40Inspection, drain cleaning, leak detection.
19:45We are licensed and insured.
19:47So, call Plumbing Solutions at 628-4646.
20:10The Energy.
20:11I'm saying like I have no pain since using Omega XL.
20:15But those who try Omega XL, they say they will try it again.
20:21Remember, you deserve the best.
20:23Choose Omega XL.
20:24out.

21:44Welcome back to Beyond the TV.
21:45I'm your host, Mark Bussain.
21:46I'm joined today by Captain Valence Rambert of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
21:51And I know you have to take us through the month of October of missing persons.
21:56Yes, Mark.
21:57And for the month thus far, we've had 25 reports of missing persons, keeping them, you know,
22:03keeping the one a day missing in Trinidad and Tobago.
22:06And today is the 27th.
22:08We have had 25 missing reports thus far.
22:11And of those, we still have 11 unaccounted for.
22:16Again, we have Louis Nichols from Mount Hope.
22:24And again, he falls in the category of a missing elderly person.
22:28He left home.
22:30He left his home in Mount Hope on the 2nd of October.
22:35And chances are that he could be most likely in the city centre, either Port of Spain or
22:41Sawa area, anywhere from Sawa to Port of Spain.
22:46So thus far, we've not been able to locate him.
22:49But just after the program, we intend to take a look for him on the streets of Port of Spain
22:54and do some, you know, enquiries from persons to see if they spotted him.
22:59And then we had Christopher Rampersad, again, falls in the elderly category.
23:06And we continue to see this trend with elderly folks.
23:09Most of them, they suffer from some sort of dementia and they get lost
23:17or they have decided that they've had enough and probably migrate to the streets.
23:22So we're not sure what happened to Christopher Rampersad from Penal Rock Road, but he remains missing.
23:28And if you see him, please call the Penal Police Station or call us at 799-1453.
23:36And then you have Andy St. Bernard.
23:41Mark, Andy is a young man from Besidee, right?
23:47And he has been reported missing by his cousin who lives next door to him.
23:51He lived alone.
23:53We feel some harm would have come to Andy.
23:56And therefore, we're liaising closely with the police officers in Labre and Guapo.
24:02And we should see some action this week with respect to us trying to find Andy St. Bernard.
24:08Only today, I received further information which possibly we could action by tomorrow.
24:15So we'll talk about Andy further on next week's program.
24:19But folks in the Vecini, Vance River area, if you have any information on Andy St. Bernard,
24:26please call us at 799-1453 or Guapo Police Station or Labre Police Station.
24:34And they will be willing to take your information.
24:38And then we have Liana Bartholomew.
24:42Now, Mark, she's 13 years old and this is not the first time that Liana has run away from home.
24:49And we're having difficulty.
24:51The last time, we had to wait probably about two or three weeks before we were able to locate Liana.
24:59She leaves no trail behind.
25:01But her mother is concerned, is worried.
25:05And we're asking Liana or anybody who knows Liana to please call us at 799-1453
25:13or report any information to your nearest police station.
25:17Ashley Mohamed, and you know I've raised my concern about these children who are at the home.
25:24She was last seen in the Port of Spain area.
25:26Ashley is 17 years old.
25:28And if you have information, please call the Children's Authority hotline at 996
25:34or the police or 799-1453.
25:38She was last seen in the Port of Spain district.
25:41And we have some more to come from the Children's Authority in the 11 who remain outstanding.
25:48And including Selene Lessie from Ojo Road, Sandy Grand is very familiar.
25:55In fact, Mark, we had her on the program, I think, twice since I've been here.
26:00But the thing about Selene is that she was committed to her home.
26:08And they get what you call day passes.
26:11All right?
26:12Sometimes you come home on a Sunday.
26:14And Selene is once such a young lady.
26:19And, of course, she did run away again.
26:22And what we found out is that in the Sandy Grand area there are a few girls there
26:27and they get together and plan this stuff.
26:29So we're asking persons to please call 799-1453 or report Selene
26:36if you have any information, Selene, to the Sandy Grand police station.
26:40We also have another teenage runaway from the Chaguan.
26:46She's Jenna Marie Regis.
26:48I think two months ago we located her.
26:51She ran away.
26:52We located her.
26:53She was placed under the Children's Authority
26:56and she was last seen in the Chaguanas area.
26:59So I'm continuing to raise this concern about the work at the Children's Authority
27:05and the frequency with which these girls go missing from their custody.
27:10Call the authority at 996.
27:13The police will call us because we know Jenna Marie Regis well.
27:19All right?
27:20And next we have Shakira Alfred again.
27:25She's from the Lengua District.
27:28We have no further information, no new information on her.
27:31So if you have information on Shakira Alfred, we suspect to be a runaway teen.
27:38She left home voluntarily.
27:41Please call us at 799-1453 or Princess Town police station.
27:48Asriel Gopi is from Mathura, Maratrice Mathura, age 12, very young.
27:57And Mark, you're seeing the trend, right?
27:59It's going lower with each, you know.
28:01As we progress, the 12- and 13-year-old girls going missing.
28:06She left home voluntarily.
28:09She was spotted in Sandy Grandi.
28:11So if you have information, please call Mathura police station,
28:15Sandy Grandi police station or call us at 799-1453.
28:21We have information that she has been in the Sandy Grandi district and could be one of those girls who operate in a clique and plan their stuff together.
28:34And so we have Julian Callis Mark.
28:37And Julian has been missing from Chamfres since the 17th of October.
28:43Mark, you remember this case where someone was found murdered in Paria Bay?
28:49Vaguely.
28:50Yeah, in Paria Bay, Blanchiches, by the waterfall there.
28:55Right.
28:56So we strongly believe that that person to be Julian Callis that was in touch with his relatives.
29:04And they have now gone forward to view the body as well as maybe to get DNA samples.
29:13So we feel strongly that Julian would have been that person whose body was found in Blanchiches.
29:22District have consulted with the police who are of the similar view.
29:27And they feel that, you know, we could have finally located Julian.
29:34And the last person we have here is Martin Welch from the Mimisa Center Heights of Guanapo, Arima.
29:42He went missing on Saturday, age 32.
29:46His mental health is compromised and he has an affinity with PTSD buses.
29:51So what he does, this is the second time we deal with Martin.
29:54He would jump on these buses and go travel all over the country.
29:58We found him in the Point 14 district just hopping off our bus the last time.
30:04So please, if you're traveling on PTSD buses, we ask you to look out for Martin Welch, a really, really nice guy.
30:11And call us at 799-1453 or your nearest police station.
30:18So Mark, that's it.
30:19The 11 missing for October 12.
30:21Yes, certainly that trend of a lot of the young women go missing.
30:25We are hopeful that the concerned relatives, the Children's Authority, the police or anybody with information,
30:31of course, reach out to these relevant personnel or the hunter search and rescue at 799-1453.
30:37Alright, we're going to take a short break and when we come back, we'll have more.

31:47Pressure tactics to invest.
31:48Correct.
31:49Promise of money if you bring friends.
31:51Correct.
31:52Request of personal information.
31:53Correct.
31:54Bonus question.
31:55What is the penalty for operating a pyramid or Ponzi scheme?
31:59Ten million dollars and ten years in prison.
32:02Correct.
32:03Well done.
32:04The scores are even so we go to a tiebreaker question.
32:07You receive money in your account from an investment company and they tell you to transfer it to a third account.
32:14Does that sound right?
32:15I think about it and that not right.

32:58In Trinidad and Tobago, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
33:05Yet many suffer in silence due to fear, shame or cultural norms.
33:10This October, you can help break the cycle.
33:13Speak up if you suspect abuse.
33:15Your voice could save a life.
33:28Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
33:29I'm your host Mark Bassan.
33:30I'm joined today by Captain Valence Rambert of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
33:43I just wanted to show you a couple videos, of course, concerning accidents over the weekend.
33:49The first, of course, in the Mount Irvin area in Tobago.
33:54Certainly, I hope that nobody was hurt badly.
34:00Of course, they went over that precipice there, the vehicle landing on the beach front there.
34:08Quite harrowing, of course, Captain.
34:10Yeah, I know the area well, Mark.
34:12And, yes, so how the vehicle got there is we really wonder.
34:16We hope that the passengers and the driver, if he had passengers.
34:21Yeah.
34:22It's a relatively new vehicle, PED.
34:24PED, yes.
34:25Yeah.
34:26You know, it was carnival in Tobago and probably, you know, you could have bad drive or, you know,
34:31under the influence of liquor or what was difficult to maneuver a vehicle in that area to get it to that point.
34:38You know?
34:39Yeah.
34:40So, you know, yeah, I know the area well.
34:43And you also had a road traffic accident in the Palmese area.
34:48In the Palmese area, there was some accident there.
34:53And you can see this man trying to overtake.
34:56And it's a truck filled with looks like foodstuff.
35:01Yeah.
35:02I don't know.
35:03But certainly a really horrible accident because you have nowhere to go there.
35:09There's a corner coming to that junction.
35:11In fact, God forbid, if another car was coming out there, what would have happened?
35:14Yeah.
35:15But certainly that driver is definitely in the wrong.
35:20This person going about their way.
35:23And he was going to turn.
35:25But even so, there was no need for that speed along a road like that where the road is already narrow in that area, Captain.
35:33Yeah.
35:34That is dangerous driving, Mark.
35:36You know, we're looking at the video after the fact and you're not seeing any vehicles proceeding in the other direction, right?
35:44So why did he, after passing that vehicle, swerve into that truck?
35:48Didn't he see that truck?
35:50Now, the other thing you have to note here, that it's near a bridge.
35:53Yeah.
35:54Because I am almost certain he was not going to fit after if that truck did not turn.
35:59I don't know if he would have been able to make it past that truck and he would have probably crashed into the bridge.
36:06Yeah.
36:07Because at the speed he's going there, there's no way he can maneuver and fit himself back with the truck already closing in on his pace.
36:14Right.
36:15So an error of judgment on his past, careless driving, dangerous driving, and those carry increased fines now.
36:22Yep.
36:23And he would have jeopardized the lives of many, including any truck driver.
36:27But this is a perfect example of what we do not want on our roads in Trinidad and Tobago.
36:33Certainly.
36:34And then we also had some images that popped up on social media.
36:38Another accident of a vehicle crashing into a store, you know, the clothing and so on on display.
36:45And you're seeing it here.
36:47And I have to wonder how the vehicle got there in the first place at unnecessary speed even.
36:54As you said, it could be many things.
36:57But certainly, you know, it appeared to be in the night.
37:01Yeah, it appeared to be in the night.
37:03So nobody was there, thankfully, of course, in that store.
37:06Sure.
37:07And I'm hopeful that the driver of that vehicle is also unhurt.
37:11Yeah.
37:12Because, I mean, he obviously has to pay for the damage to the store's glass door there.
37:19Certainly.
37:20Certainly.
37:21And Mark, we're seeing these vehicles being upended in all different positions.
37:25Yeah.
37:26And we wonder how they get there in the first place.
37:28So it has to be either speed under the influence of alcohol or just poor road manners.
37:38Yeah.
37:39And there's lack of judgment too.
37:41Lack of judgment as well.
37:42There was no way you could have made it back onto the other side of the road before that bridge closed in on you.
37:48Yes.
37:49It was a poor decision.
37:50Poor judgment.
37:51He was trying to attempt to take what he, because it's literally at a bridge and an intersection
37:56is there.
37:57And I don't know where he was, where he thought he would have been able to go.
38:01Yeah, very, probably very inexperienced driver.
38:04But nevertheless, that is what you call dangerous driving.
38:09Yeah.
38:10We have to understand that, you know, everybody seems to be in a hurry at times, but you have
38:15to be cognizant that there are other persons on the roadway, just like yourself, using the
38:20roadway.
38:21So we want to appeal to motorists, please slow down, observe the speed limits, the necessary
38:26speed limits on the highways, on the major roads, etc.
38:30Because, you know, when you get hurt or somebody dies in a collision, you know, there's no
38:37way to speed to go to.
38:38Exactly.
38:39And I continue to say that a vehicle is a weapon in your hand, if not used properly.
38:46And that could impact on people's lives, have them sustain injuries, lifelong injuries.
38:54So you have to be careful because the other users, they matter as well.
39:00Yes, certainly.
39:01All right.
39:02We have our first call on the line.
39:03Caller, good evening and welcome to be on the tape.
39:05Yes.
39:06Hi, good afternoon.
39:07Good evening.
39:08We have so many things going on in this country.
39:11Where is our Commissioner of Police?
39:13Well, my understanding, ma'am, he's attending a conference and in his position is Acting
39:18Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin.
39:20Okay.
39:21And that's my phone.
39:22Yes, ma'am?
39:23He left since last week, I understand.
39:26He should be back shortly.
39:28I hope that answers your question.
39:31All right.
39:32I think she left, but yes, it would have been an immediate couple that he was attending
39:42a conference in Colorado and in his position, Acting Commissioner Junior Benjamin.
39:48But there's a possibility he could be back because he was highlighted in Tobago.
39:53Right.
39:54For the carnival.
39:55Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
39:56It would be that, you know, after he was in Tobago, I could confirm that I saw reports
40:01of him being in Tobago.
40:03And so, therefore, he could have made his way back probably Friday or so, visited Tobago
40:10for the carnival because he spoke about the safety and security of the carnival itself.
40:16And then he probably back in Trinidad.
40:20Yeah, well, we certainly will hear from the Commissioner at some point perhaps this week
40:24if there's anything he needs to address the nation about in reference to the crime and so on.
40:29And then we also have that, you know, that extension of the SOE coming up again for Parliament
40:35to weigh on and consider whether or not to extend the state of emergency or just, you know, just end it.
40:44End it, yeah.
40:45End it, yeah.
40:46I read about it and I know it's coming up in the Parliament for debate and discussion.
40:51Yeah, so I know we are hopeful that we're going to keep a close eye on that, of course,
40:55and other developments, you know, that are occupying not just our local media
41:01but international media attention with this whole debacle with USA and Venezuela.
41:08Yeah.
41:09And I know that it's a very concerning subject matter, very touchy.
41:13But, you know, everybody have their own views.
41:16We have a call on the line.
41:17Caller, good evening and welcome to be on the team.
41:20Yeah, good afternoon.
41:22I would like, you know, when the police will enforce the keep left on the highway in terms of regulation
41:31because that seems to be a major contribution in terms of accidents on the nation road.
41:37And this is an offence to be driving on the right-hand side of the road with the left-hand side clear.
41:45All right.
41:47You want to take that one?
41:48Yeah, Mark, I know that there is signage which says keep left except when move are taken, right?
41:58And we continue to see drivers staying on the right side and proceeding slowly.
42:04And that really is a cause for concern.
42:09I experience it almost on a daily basis.
42:13Yeah.
42:14Now, how do we go about, you know, educating the drivers about it?
42:18Because that's what I'm not seeing.
42:20I'm seeing a few signages.
42:22But we need to speak about it and call it your right.
42:25It's on programs like this ought to be brought up so that drivers, you know, if you're not,
42:31if you're driving slowly on your nation's highway, please occupy the left lane and allow.
42:37Because there is a flow on the highway that has to be maintained in order for it to be effective.
42:44All right.
42:45Thanks so much, Captain.
42:46We're going to take a short break.
42:47And when we come back, we'll take more of your calls.
42:48Stay with us.
42:49Hey.
42:50Go.
42:51Go.
42:52Go.
42:53Go.
42:54Go.
42:55Go.
42:56Go.
42:57Go.
42:58Go.
42:59Go.
43:00Go.
43:01Go!
43:02Go.
43:03OK, I see you.
43:04OK, let me see you, cherry hill.
43:06Uh, yeah.
43:08Now take it back.
43:09Let me see you, rock off, rock off, uh, shake off, shake off.
43:12Let me see you, rock off, rock off.
43:14Let me see you kick right, now kick left, now step forward, now step back.
43:18Lucozade, bring the energy.
43:48Dreamer, when you're gonna vent ya.

43:53Drop it.

44:05By Garnier, naturally.
44:06Folks, take a look at all these medical conditions.
44:10What does it have in common?
44:14This.
44:15I-T-I-S.
44:16But what does I-T-I-S really mean?
44:19The suffix itis denotes inflammation of a specified organ or tissue.
44:24I-T-I-S really means inflammation.
44:27How do we combat chronic inflammation?
44:29Through lifestyle changes.
44:30Then and only then.
44:32Make sure you're getting enough mega-free fatty acids.
44:35Always consult a qualified medical professional before starting any supplements.

45:17Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
45:27I'm your host, Mark Basant.
45:28Of course, joined today by Captain Valence Ramrath of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
45:32And I think we have a call on the line.
45:34Caller, good evening and welcome to Be On The Tape.
45:36Good evening, gentlemen.
45:38Concerning the last call out there, I think that is something very, very, very, very, very, very needed.
45:45We need to look into that.
45:47Because most of the accidents, I mean this every single day on the highway.
45:52The problem is the driver is going so slow sometimes that they have vehicles swimming from back, left, right, and center.
46:00You know, trying to get to their destination.
46:03It also keeps back a lot of traffic.
46:06Right?
46:06And what is very important, too, I think, as Mr. Chief said, you need to educate.
46:16But especially, like, maybe use social media or something.
46:19Because what you get into, I think that is one of the accidents that caused by the bus accidents on the highway,
46:25where vehicles pull it off from your shoulder.
46:28You go in almost 100 kilometers an hour and then go in 20.
46:32So, a lot of drivers need to accelerate on the shoulder and you build a rhythm or you build a pace,
46:41maybe up to about 60 to 70 kilometers, and then you come over to the left lane, to the right lane then.
46:46It will be the left lane then.
46:48You know, and you don't just come from your shoulder to the left lane at maybe 20 kilometers where other drivers go in 100.
46:56What you're getting a lot regular, too, is drivers coming out from the minor roads onto the highway and just clapping on the indicator while you're coming around 100, or maybe less, right?
47:10So, many times, especially in Golconda, where the road to come out, you're getting drivers coming out from Golconda road, from cross-crossing area road there,
47:21straight on to the highway, just by putting on an indicator, or some of them don't even put on indicator.
47:26And I think they need a sign that indicates a low, you know, yielding, and maybe some signs to put up to the indicator.
47:39If I do catch a promotion here, everybody put it on an indicator.
47:42So, thank you very much, Mr. Barrett.
47:45Very, very good work.
47:47I'm waiting for you to collect your awards still, man.
47:50You and your team, thank you very much for the work you're doing for Trina and Tobago.
47:54And you, too, Mr. Barrett, keep it up, unless you're.
47:59I'm sorry, he's right about that.
48:01He's right.
48:01A lot of people driving slowly causes accidents.
48:04Causes accidents.
48:05Much appreciated, Kuala.
48:07And you understand the physics and the movement and speed, right?
48:10Because, Kuala, these highways for maximum efficiency and effectiveness were designed for vehicles moving at 100 miles per hour
48:19to cater for high volumes of cars moving from one area to another area.
48:25And so, therefore, Traffic Management, Ministry of Transport, they have to do more work to edify the public.
48:32Because I am saying, and I agreed with you on the previous, Kuala, it is a problem.
48:36And you raise the additional issue of persons who are moving onto the main carriageway on the highway.
48:43You have to do exactly what you said to do.
48:47Maintain, stay in the area.
48:49Maintain a speed of, get a speed of about 60, 70 kilometers.
48:53And then exit onto the main carriageway.
48:56You're a very, very, very knowledgeable Kuala.
48:59Indeed.
48:59All right, we have another Kuala online.
49:01Kuala, good evening again.
49:02Welcome to me on the tape.
49:04Hello, guys.
49:04Good day, Mark.
49:05Good evening.
49:05How are you all doing today?
49:07We're good.
49:08Not good.
49:08Well, I'm a little off topic today.
49:10What I want to talk about is the contents that you all start and end the program with.
49:15I find it can be a little too violent and a little offensive.
49:19And the incidents that happen, you know, their family members could also be watching us.
49:24Not if it could be less violent.
49:27I know, we know we have violence in our communities, but I don't think we should be highlighting it like that.
49:34Well, Kuala, I'm a little lost because what we highlighted at the beginning of the program was the hurricane.
49:41We had a boat that sank and also the USS gravely coming to Trinidad.
49:46So I'm wondering which one of those were violent.
49:47No, the shooting, all the shooting that takes place.
49:51Oh, you're talking about the show opening.
49:53You're talking about the show opening.
49:55Yes.
49:56I'm talking about when you all start the program, the starting of the program and the ending of the program.
50:02Right.
50:02That's the show opening, I understand.
50:04The real that starts the program and ends the program.
50:07But incidentally, this is also a crime show.
50:10And we have to understand, we are not showing anybody being shot.
50:14We are showing these people how they are violent.
50:17And these are images available on social media as well.
50:21And everybody consumes it and sees it.
50:23But we take care, we have due care, and we don't show faces.
50:28But we appreciate your comments, nevertheless.
50:30Yeah, that's what I'm saying, because remember, you're not showing the faces.
50:37The incident, family members would have known about the incident.
50:40I would have known if their family members had been shot.
50:43But that's just my takeaway.
50:45I know we have violence in the community.
50:48Yes, sir.
50:48That doesn't mean that we should be highlighting it, because the program, I want to believe, is to kill violence.
50:54Yeah, I agree with you 100%, but the reality is that some of these things these people do,
51:00people need to see a distinct reality, jolts you into that reality.
51:04Because if you look at ads abroad for drinking and driving, remember we were here,
51:09and they show you the impact of the collision of drinking and driving, and the man, his wife dies.
51:15Yeah, his wife dies.
51:16Yeah, but Mark, in addition to that, I know for a fact that at the start of the program,
51:22there is cautionary advice given by the program director, which is a parental...
51:29Yeah, and the producer, yeah.
51:30Yeah, parental guide, and viewer discretion is advised.
51:34Yes, viewer discretion.
51:35If I recall.
51:36But thanks so much, Ivan Sofa, for your comments, sir.
51:41All right, we have another call online.
51:42Caller, good evening, and welcome to be on the tape.
51:44Yeah, good evening, gentlemen.
51:46I'm calling from Guaya Guayari.
51:47Guaya Guayari, man.
51:48How are you?
51:49Not too bad.
51:50Like coconut.
51:51Great.
51:52Go ahead, sir.
51:53Well, the previous caller is definitely suffering from a rockism, living under a rock.
52:01But I want to, more importantly, more importantly, let me strike seas and grasp the opportunity
52:07to, of course, congratulate what is an exceptional program, one of the best programs at this time
52:14of the day, I want to suggest that the Hunter search and rescue group for the benefit of being
52:19resourced properly, thoroughly, and being more effective in terms of being able to reach their
52:26deliverables, be placed under the Ministry of Forestry or the Forestry Division in an effort to
52:33benefit from government resources and, of course, a stipend, as it was, to keep the members motivated
52:40because I know it is, in fact, a voluntary organization and people, of course, take time off
52:44from their jobs to assist with national crises.
52:48Additionally, sometimes, sometimes when a police vehicle is traveling on the nation's highways
52:55and byways, depending on the traffic flow, although the regulation may say, keep left
53:02except when overtaking or keep left when a siren is approaching, depending on the traffic
53:07flow, the type of vehicles, and how long it will take vehicles to get to the side, the
53:12police, in their wisdom, may take the best part, may use the best part of the route or the
53:17most clear part of the road to get through the traffic.
53:21So, it doesn't, although the legislation says, the regulation says, go to the left, it is
53:28best practice, it is based on the ground, what happens on the day, and all the police are
53:33with a ceasefire.
53:34So, yeah, well, thanks Kuala, I guess we lost you, but with respect to Hunter search and rescue
53:43team, Kuala, we've said clearly, you know, we fill a need in the society, and whatsoever
53:50mobile or form this may take going forward, you know, it's left to be discussed, but once
53:56the effectiveness and the efficiency of the group is maintained and we don't get our hands
54:01tied and have to follow too many commands and procedural, you know, to get procedural approvals
54:08and so forth.
54:09We have excellent working relationship with the law enforcement and we continue to work
54:15with them and we are comfortable with that.
54:18So, if anybody wants to get a model, chat with us and we will be able to assist and take
54:23it forward.
54:24And with respect to the police, because I think these ambulances, you know, they need parity on
54:30the nation's roadways and the point he was making is that the regulation says keep to the left,
54:40but sometimes those because going to the right is probably they're looking for clearer parts.
54:45So, there's some ambiguity probably in the practice nowadays and probably he wants that
