00:00Sure, the mask looks a little different, but the killing stays the same.
00:03Here's your look at the Funko Pop Movies Jason Universe Jason Voorhees Hot Topics Scarefair 2025 Exclusive.
00:18With his mask on and his axe in hand, this exclusive Pop Jason is ready to terrify your horror lineup.
00:24Expand the Jason Universe by making this slasher icon the next addition to your Friday the 13th collection.
00:30I guess it was time that the slasher updated his style, but really was the style necessary?
00:34The Jason Universe Jason design certainly has been a polarizing topic among fans of the fandom, and all generally have been mostly negative.
00:42Having made the changes that they have, certainly to the number of holes that he has on his mask, the placement and the size of the chevrons,
00:47not to mention the square eye sockets, are all again really things that are very unlike Jason, or at least the way that we certainly know Mr. Voorhees in the past.
00:56But again, like, does it translate well to a Funko Pop-up?
00:59Before, of course, we look at the decrepit details of Jason Voorhees, the Scarefair Exclusive.
01:04We're going to take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:06Now, sad story, though, for me at least, is that I ordered this from the Facebook selling group,
01:11and I paid about $40 for Jason.
01:13I realized then afterwards, when I went to a mall, there was a Hot Topic store there, where I picked up a Michael Myers.
01:19Sure enough, though, if I had just waited a day, only just a day,
01:23I could have then picked up Jason at the exact same time as Michael,
01:27and I could have paid $19.99 for him instead of the $40.
01:30Anyways, taking the tape measure, as promised already,
01:34you're looking at the figure of Jason standing about three and a half inches in height,
01:37working out to be a figure that's about nine centimeters tall.
01:40From what I've been hearing, too, Jason Voorhees wasn't even the chase figure of the Scarefair 2025 exclusives.
01:46Captain Spaulding seems to be the harder one, and therefore also the more expensive one,
01:50to try to track one down now.
01:52Buffalo Bill and also Jigsaw's Billy the Puppet were all also joining the Scarefair Exclusive for 2025,
01:57but we haven't yet looked at those.
01:59What we have yet looked at is the Halloween II Michael Myers with now the Bleeding Eyes.
02:05They stack well together.
02:06I mean, obviously, if you're one that likes to have your Funko Pops displayed on shelf loose and out of box,
02:11I mean, size-wise, they're pretty close in size.
02:13I don't have many Jasons, even though I've looked at ones in the past.
02:16Most of the Funko Pops, honestly, I've gotten rid of over the years,
02:18but there are still a few that I have kept in my collection.
02:22And speaking of exclusives, while it wasn't, though, a Hot Topic exclusive,
02:26here's the pixelized Jason Voorhees NES Jason that was only available at GameStop stores.
02:33Not only does Jason sport a different mask, but he also sports a different weapon.
02:37When I tend to think of the Camp Crystal Lake killer, I usually think of him having a wielding machete.
02:42But this time around, though, this Jason Universe Jason actually is carrying around an axe.
02:46And not only has he been carrying it around, but it looks like he's been quite busy with it, too.
02:51There's blood all over the head of the axe.
02:54There's blood all across his hands.
02:55And I'm not even sure if Tide will be able to get this all out.
02:58But he's got blood all over as well, his shirt.
03:01The coloring, though, for Jason, before, of course, we look at and examine the mask.
03:05The coloring, though, for his shirt and his pants are trademark colors.
03:09I mean, these would be the colors you'd expect Jason Voorhees to have in Friday the 13th 3 and Friday the 13th 4.
03:14The one thing, though, again, that really does drastically change when it comes to Jason Universe's design is the way they've now designed the mask.
03:21We can kind of run through, like, the big three topic points that fans and collectors have been talking and discussing online about Jason Universe's mask.
03:29The biggest ones being that he has 13 holes.
03:31If you look at, like, the mask and you count out the holes, he's got 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.
03:38And I know that that's clearly been designed that way.
03:42The thing I don't really like so much about the holes, especially the ones down below here, it looks like it forms an arrow.
03:48Like the arrow is trying to point and draw your attention to the larger chevron, which is then a bigger issue.
03:54The chevrons are way too large on Jason's mask.
03:57The ones on the sides aren't so bad, but the one that he has in the middle looks like a unibrow.
04:02It takes up too much real estate space, if you really ask me.
04:05But I think I can live with, though, those two things.
04:09The one that I have the hardest time accepting when it comes to the new designed mask is the way they've made rectangular eye holes, though, for him to see out of.
04:17Generally, though, Jason has circular eyes.
04:20And even then, you don't even see his eyes much at all either.
04:22Having now rectangular eyes, and actually those that look like he's got glasses on, I don't really like this look at all.
04:30Now, some have speculated the reason why that Jason's universe, Jason, does have a mask that looks specifically like this is due to copywriting.
04:37It's so that people then can't redesign and ship masks, sell and ship masks that have that same look.
04:43They sort of are trademarking Jason's look.
04:45And whether that is true or not, I personally am not a big fan of this.
04:49Now, I think it looks nice as a Funko Pop, but I do hope, though, that when we get eventually a new Friday the 13th movie,
04:55which apparently they're really steam running trying to get one made, I don't know if they're going to be redesigning the mask again.
05:01Now, up to this point, we really only have, what, the Angry, what was the Angry Cider?
05:06The short commercial for a cider brand where Jason Voorhees has appeared in that.
05:11I think he's also going to be dropping in on Fortnite as well.
05:14Well, and he has so far have had this mask, but whether, though, this mask is going to be something that's going to stay with well into then the movies as well,
05:22time will only then tell.
05:23Maybe they're going to get enough backlash back from this that they're going to redesign the mask again.
05:28The mask, at least from the Funko Pop, I think, again, looks good because, again, it's more simplified.
05:33It's stylized.
05:34Again, you've got the large Funko Pop eyes.
05:37One thing I do like, though, is that the eyes are lopsided.
05:39So if you look on this side, the eyelid's going down this way, and if you look on this side, the eyelid's going down, well, sort of the same direction,
05:46but it does give, then, a different size difference between the two pupils.
05:50I think that's kind of cool.
05:51Again, the mask looks like it's been painted really well.
05:53The straps are on the back, keeping the mask in place.
05:56I do actually like, though, that they've also added scratches, weared marks.
06:00Another issue that really people had with the mask was also it was way too bright and clean.
06:04If this is a mask that Jason's been wearing for a while, the mask should be aged.
06:08It should be scruffed up.
06:09It should look dirty, and yet it looks pristine and white.
06:13The mask, obviously, is not removable.
06:14It's just really part of Jason's head.
06:16You can see, though, that's just the malformed shape of Jason's head on the back, though.
06:21That looks really cool as well.
06:22The ears are sticking out the side, so, of course, that's to help hold the strap in place.
06:26But, again, like, you can't take that off.
06:28Yeah, all in all, like, it's a good-looking Jason.
06:30I don't know, though, again, if this is going to be the look that he's going to have consistently moving forward,
06:34or, again, like Jason Universe, they're just going to go and redesign the mask again.
06:38For Funko Pops, though, the posability is standard on these,
06:41so really all that you can do with Jason is just to rotate his head all the way around.
06:45They did, at least, though, take note to where the placement of the axe was,
06:49because while it does get pretty close to Jason's mask,
06:52it doesn't get close enough where you start to rub against the plastic.
06:55That would be one concern I would have, because rotating this,
06:58I would hate to think that this would start to scratch.
07:00And, luckily, though, it doesn't.
07:01The placement, though, of his arm, he has really more one just parallel to his body,
07:05just, like, running just straight down.
07:07And, obviously, this one here is holding the axe.
07:09But it's weird, though, to see Jason not only with a new design mask like this,
07:13but also, again, carrying around.
07:15Is this an axe or is it a hatchet?
07:17Maybe it's more an axe.
07:19I'm just looking at the length of the handle.
07:21Yeah, all in all, it's a neat-looking Funko Pop.
07:23I'm glad that I actually had the chance to finally find this.
07:25And, again, had I only just waited another day or so,
07:30it was literally just a case that I ordered the Jason on Facebook,
07:33because I had no block of finding these at all.
07:35And I just assumed, what are the chances I'm ever going to come across one of these in the wild?
07:39No, not the wild, like Camp Crystal Lake.
07:40What are the chances, though, that I'm going to be able to actually find one in a store?
07:45I went to Facebook selling group, and a guy actually had, I think, a Michael Myers and a Jason.
07:48He ended up ultimately selling the Michael Myers, but he still had a Jason.
07:53Contacted him, and he was very nice.
07:54I mean, even with the Canada Post striking happening the way it is right now,
07:58he was able to get it out the door, and I paid about $40 for it.
08:01I think, actually, with the shipping even on top of it,
08:03it might have even gotten closer to $50.
08:05And then, if I just waited one day, because he shipped it on the Friday,
08:08or I paid it on the Friday, the Saturday, I went to that mall,
08:12and they had the Jason there for $19.99.
08:14Again, it's not one of those things you could have ever really predicted.
08:17You know, it's one of those things that, yeah, you could order something online,
08:20and then see it at the store later on, and you find it for a much cheaper price.
08:23But I'm glad that I did actually get this one, the Scarefair exclusive.
08:26I'm not sure, though, if I'm going to really be keeping these guys loose on the shelf.
08:30Lately, though, I've been keeping a lot of my Funko Pops still in the box.
08:33The boxes just look good, too.
08:34Like, where's the Jason Voorhees box?
08:36Let's just bring that back here for a second.
08:39The box does have, I know we don't really spend a lot of time really looking at the box,
08:42but it does have the Jason Universe there on the top, $19.64,
08:45and it does have the Hot Topic Scarefair 2025 exclusive.
08:48Something, apparently, though, that Funko is also now doing, too,
08:51is that they're embedding, they're doing something really weird with their tags
08:54that you can't reproduce these.
08:56So when the limited run of these run out, you can't reproduce these as knockoffs.
09:01But again, like, Jason's going to probably be ultimately going back into his plastic prison
09:05displayed on my shelf that way.
09:07While I don't really, again, like the look of the mask,
09:09I know I kind of, again, talked about it a couple of times,
09:11the big, again, the big three really is the number of the holes on the mask,
09:15the size and the placement of the chevrons and the fact he does have the rectangular eye sockets.
09:19I think it's really the rectangular eye sockets that I dislike the most.
09:23Even if the holes look like it's pointing an arrow up,
09:25even if the chevron looks like a big, giant unibrow connecting the two eyes together,
09:30I think those are two things that I can live with.
09:32What I have a harder time to live with is the size of the rectangle eyes.
09:36I just don't think that really works for the mask.
09:38Jason, from all the times that he's ever worn really a hockey mask,
09:41they've always really been circular or oval.
09:43To change that shape, I think, is the one thing that really is making it look
09:47a little less like Jason, almost as if it's an imposter.
09:51Even though I did spend more than I really wanted to,
09:53I have to ask myself in the end,
09:55if I couldn't have found it in the store,
09:56let's just forget the fact that I did find it,
09:59would I have been willing to pay $40 for the figure?
10:01If my answer then was yes,
10:03I can't be disappointed at all that I bought the figure first
10:05and then find it later for cheaper.
10:07In the end, though, I really did want to get the Jason Voorhees and the Michael Myers.
10:10Those were the two the most out of the Scarefair 2025 exclusives that I wanted to pick up.
10:15I might still try to track down Captain Spaulding,
10:17even though he seems to be the harder figure to find.
10:20And then there's also the Buffalo Bill and Billy the Puppet.
10:22The 2025 Scarefair exclusives, I've so far been only lucky to find,
10:27well, I found the Michael Myers and I found the Jason at an actual Hot Topic store.
10:31Outside of that, I mean, obviously there's the route of going eBay,
10:34but I find like even Facebook selling groups that there's a lot of been a lot of sellers on Facebook
10:38that have listed the Scarefair 2025 exclusives.
10:41So I know they're there.
10:43I know they're available if I ever really want to get them.
10:45Whether I do track down, though, the remaining, what, three or so,
10:48that will only be a matter of time and just how much I find the listings listed for.
10:53In the end, though, I mean, again, like Jason Universe, Jason, does it look like Jason?
10:57I guess it does.
10:59I mean, from what at least we've seen from that short feature film from Angry Orchard.
11:03By the way, though, I did want to get myself that Thriller Pack.
11:06The Thriller Pack did have a Jason Voorhees cider
11:08and then had a couple of other Angry Orchard ciders, too.
11:11But much like Jason, I think the very unlikelihood that I'd be able to find those in a store,
11:15I'd have to probably order it online.
11:17And then with ordering online, I'm going to pay then the ludicrous prices sometimes
11:21of converting it and then shipping it my way.
11:24But I will say, though, I mean, from the standpoint of Jason Universe's design,
11:28do I like the look of Jason?
11:29Not really.
11:30But at least it does look enough like Jason.
11:33They didn't radically design it.
11:34I like the Jason Universe Jason more than I like the look of pre-Uber Jason from Jason X,
11:40which to this point I still think is the worst design Jason ever.
11:44By the way, though, if you guys are interested,
11:46check out the Angry Orchard shorts that did feature the new design Jason Voorhees.
11:50It is available.
11:51I mean, you can find it on Facebook.
11:52You can find it on YouTube.
11:54It is readily available.
11:55It's as readily available as probably some could be able to say,
11:59well, I did find the Scarefair exclusives of Jason everywhere.
12:02It's as available as that.
12:04As a Canadian collector, though, he wasn't as available.
12:06Sure enough, as it always is the case,
12:08I ordered him first and then I found him in the wild.
12:11But what do you guys, though, think of Jason Universe, Jason's design?
12:14Do you like it?
12:14Do you dislike it?
12:15If you dislike it, what of those three things do you like,
12:18you dislike the most?
12:20Is it, though, the fact that he's got 13?
12:22The fact that it's Friday 13,
12:23then he has to have exactly 13 breathing holes.
12:25It's kind of a little corny.
12:27Do you dislike that?
12:28Do you dislike the chevrons?
12:29Or do you think the worst culprit of Jason's new design
12:32is the fact that he has rectangular eye sockets?
12:35Of those three, which do you think is the worst culprit,
12:37the biggest criminal when it comes to the Jason design?
12:40Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:42If you guys, in the meantime, have enjoyed this video,
12:44you can do it a solid throw to a like.
