00:48this whole area, the Battle of Worcester, not far away.

00:51The team have been called in to investigate reports of paranormal activity in this Georgian house.
01:02I suppose I just want proof.
01:09I want to know it's just not me.
01:13Actor and musician Toya Wilcox has lived here for over 20 years.
01:17This house is absolutely extraordinary.
01:24It is a very active house, and it has been active to my friends as well as to me.
01:30The actress Rula Lenska visited us, and she was down in the cellar.
01:37And she could hear children screaming, and she passed out.
01:41And when she came round, she said she was surrounded by children who were desperate.
01:48And she asked to leave, and she's never returned to the house.
01:52My makeup artist was staying here, and he was having a little snuzz in the scullery.
01:59And he was woken by a man who was screaming for him to get the F out of there and not come back.
02:10The attic is very active.
02:13It bangs away all night.
02:16It's like, bang, bang.
02:19Things that make us jump out and get out of bed.
02:23Things move all the time.
02:26I was getting dressed the other day.
02:28I laid out my dress, put it on the bed, went to pick it up.
02:34It just flew out the door.
02:36The help I want is confirmation from the team that what I am experiencing is a physical and tangible experience.
02:44It's not just my ego or imagination.
02:47The majority of the spirits I really, really like.
02:50And if they feel they're in the right place at the right time, then they're welcome.

04:45So I was just stood here, about to walk up the staircase, and I was aware of her noise, and that just came on the floor.
05:05Somebody's trying to get my attention, so I'm going to go upstairs and see who that is.

05:20I can hear what sounds to be cups, saucers, knives, forks, and a smell of...
05:30Almost, it's almost like a baking smell.
05:37To gather more information about the case, I've come to meet local historian Brian Hoggard.
05:44Oh, this is beautiful, but I'm guessing there is actually a reason you've brought me here, Brian.
05:48Yep, this is Pershaw's medieval bridge, which was the scene of some fatalities during the Civil War.
05:55So as the royalists were coming through Pershaw, they wanted to make sure that the parliamentarians couldn't follow them.
06:01So they tore down one of the arches of the bridge.
06:04But unfortunately, quite a lot of people who were involved in doing that died, and quite a few soldiers died as well.
06:09So we're talking mid-1600s there then, aren't we?
06:11Do you know, would the house that we're investigating, would that have been standing then?
06:16Well, the house that's there at the moment is Georgian in appearance, which is 18th century.
06:20But it sits on the site of an earlier house, and it could even incorporate elements of a house that did exist at that time, including the basement.
06:27OK, well, why don't we head into beautiful Pershaw and you can tell me a bit more.

06:37That's unbelievable, that, because I've just seen...
06:39But that's the bathroom.
06:44Why would that be?
06:48So this is a bathroom, or an en-suite.
06:52But I saw a lady with a bonnet go up this staircase.
06:58This bedroom would have been used for something else.
07:00And the fact that I could hear cups, saucers, indicates to me that this could have been a form of, not a restaurant, but something very similar to that.
07:14Almost like a tea room.
07:18And because this area could have been used for that, this is a high possibility that poltergeists would move things from this bedroom.
07:29Because, as you're aware, you're picking your knives, you're picking your forks, you're picking your cup and saucer up.
07:35So that takes energy.
07:37So spirit will see these things in here and pick them up and move them.
07:41This is a paranormal hot spot.
07:44I'm meeting Mark, Toya's friend and hairstylist, who's also an empath, to find out what he's experienced.

07:57In your opinion, do you think that Toya's house is haunted?
08:01Yes, I do.
08:02What do you think haunts her home?
08:04So many different energies, I think, pass by.
08:06And I think being an established property, I think there's been a lot of activity in those buildings around there on that high street.
08:13So I think there's still a lot of energy in there.
08:16She recently had what they call a circuit done into her house with crystals hidden into the skirting boards
08:23and put in certain plough points of the house to balance the energy coming from the front of the house.
08:29So you're telling me that Toya has crystals in the walls of her house?
08:34In the skirting boards to balance the energy that's coming in and out of the house.
08:42Wow.
08:45There's a mass amount of crystals, not only all over the house, but look at the size of these.
08:52This is clearly somebody who's trying to balance things out from negative to positive.

09:07OK, this is Pershaw Abbey.
09:08There's been an abbey on this site since the 7th century AD.
09:11When we get to the dissolution of the monasteries, which happens in Pershaw in 1540,
09:16then they pull down many buildings, including part of the abbey,
09:20and local wealthy landowners would have acquired some of that stone and used it in their buildings.
09:26And it's possible that some of that stone has found its way into the house we're looking at in the basement.
09:31Oh, really?
09:32So some of the stonework that made up this original abbey could well be in the cellar of our house?
09:39Yeah.
09:39As I walk down into the cellar, I feel an immediate change in atmosphere.
09:46You can certainly feel the energy dropping as you walk down in here,
09:49and it feels, there's part of it that feels quite negative.
09:56Wow.
09:57All this stonework around you has just got this magnificent history to tell you.
10:03And when you touch it, you feel pulses and sensations shooting all the way up into my arm.
10:13And I'm hearing noise, I'm hearing almost like chanting or choir music.
10:21So that tells me that this stone has travelled from a different location to here.
10:28So this has come from somewhere else.
10:30Tell me about any experiences that you've had in her home.
10:36There was an experience where we all went up into the loft,
10:40and I got this tremendous heavy feeling and this feeling of sick.
10:45And then I started sort of shaking,
10:48and it turns out that there was a spirit up there that needed releasing
10:52who was trying to come through my body.
10:54So you were being affected by a spirit?
10:57Yes, yeah, yeah.
10:58When I started to feel different was going up the steps to the loft,
11:02and then I felt an incredible pressure.
11:05And then I felt this really deep, sick feeling, incredibly hot.
11:10And I was aware of this waft coming past my face every so many seconds.

11:16It transpired as it was the spirit was running around in circles trying to escape,
11:21and that's what I thought I was feeling him run past me like this.
11:24That's almost like a possession.

11:29And it wasn't until afterwards that I started to process,
11:32and I thought, I felt quite violated,
11:35and it was just the most unusual feeling I've ever had.
11:43As I'm going further and further up these attic stairs,
11:48my breath is becoming shorter and shorter and shorter.
11:52I almost feel as if I've been winded.

12:45..so there would have definitely been a battle of some sort

13:59And he was telling me about an incident, well, a tragedy, actually,
14:03that happened at the bridge during the English Civil War.
14:06Around 60 men, both parliamentarians and royalists,
14:10were killed when the bridge collapsed.

14:13I see the cavalry go across the field the other side of the river.
14:18Always about five in the morning as the sun comes up,
14:22you can see the cavalry moving.

14:25That's making me go cold.
14:26When I was doing my walk around earlier today,
14:29I was very conscious of soldiers as well,
14:32down at the bottom of your garden.
14:35I never knew of the tragedy.

14:37So, Brian took me through to kind of the early 1900s,
14:41so I was curious about what happened following that.
14:43Well, this house, around 1960, became the Willow Cafe.
14:47And my mother brought me here in 1960, when I was two, to have tea.
14:52And I still have the boots.

15:02What an incredible piece of history that is actually connected to your house,

23:28Camera number three is positioned in the kitchen.
23:31Now, this is an active area because it leads into the scullery where phenomena have taken place.
23:37The fourth infrared camera is down in the cellar.
23:40And that's where we did the aggression with Toya, but then also the stones from the abbey, which makes it a paranormal hotspot.
23:46Camera number five is upstairs on the first floor, and this is in the salon where we began our spirit trigger session with Toya tonight.
23:54Camera number six is upstairs, also on the first floor, but this is in Toya's office with the powerful crystals that seem to adorn the room.
24:03Now, I've put camera number seven upstairs in the bedroom area.
24:07And that's where Toya had that experience where the dress flew off the bed and went outside the room, and I was very aware of a lady walking past the bed and going into the ensuite.
24:17The eighth and final camera is located right at the top of the building in the attic room.
24:23Mark, Toya's hair stylist, got possessed in that particular area of the property.
