02:32Beautiful part of the world.
02:33The village of Kingswood dates back to the Doomsday Book.
02:38And the area around it is well known for pagan rituals and druidic activity.
02:46The team have been called in to investigate reports of paranormal activity by the owner of this house.
02:52I'm really looking forward. I'm actually intrigued to find out all the evidence and everything.
03:02And, yeah, very excited actually. A bit nervous, but excited.
03:07It's the home of TV presenter and model Alex Best, ex-wife of the late footballing legend George Best.
03:15This house was built in about 1820.
03:19It used to be a farm workers' cottage.
03:24Loads of people experienced paranormal activity in the house.
03:27You know, my parents, my sister, my friends.
03:31I've had quite a few items go missing in the house.
03:34I mean, it's tiny little things. It's like, erm...
03:37Things like belts that go missing and I can't find it, but all of a sudden it'll turn up about a year later
03:44and it'll be right in the middle, in the front room, in front of me.
03:48So I've got a really, really big side cabinet. It's so heavy.
03:53And I woke up one morning. It was literally just in the middle of the room.
03:59And you could see the marks on the carpet where it normally had been.
04:03I think whoever's around is quite cheeky.
04:07It's almost like somebody's playing, you know, playing around with me, joking with me.
04:12I mean, obviously, you know, everyone jokes as it's George, but I know for sure that it's not.
04:17You know, this is a very old house. This is, you know, built in 1820.
04:21And the amount of people that have lived here in the past, it could be anything.
04:28But it's definitely... It's not George. Definitely not.
04:32So I'd like to find out from the team what is going on.

04:42Ian, we're quite close. We're only a couple of miles away from location.

04:47I feel quite hyped, to be honest with you. I feel, like, giddy and shaky.

05:05I like that because it keeps my mind very clear and then I know whatever information I receive,
05:11whether it's a feeling, a thought or a sound, I know it's coming from true spirit.
05:17So I'm picking up on poltergeist activity.
05:22I think the house must have some history because I'm feeling it's quite old.
05:25Maybe the person who's connected to the property has an attachment
05:30or spirits connected to them very strongly in some way.

07:06There was one night we were just sat, we were just talking, and Alex suddenly was pointing behind me,
07:15and I was saying to her, what are you pointing at? And she said, I don't know.
07:19And I said, then stop pointing. And she went, I can't, I can't move my hand.
07:22And her hand was literally like this. The next thing I just felt this huge rush, like tingling all over my,
07:30like someone was stood behind me with their hands on my shoulders. Like I felt an energy.
07:35I felt tears welling up in my eyes, and then all of a sudden I went, oh, it's gone now.
07:40And I looked at Alex, and there was just tears streaming down her face.
07:44Oh, wow. What do you think it was?
07:47A presence in the house. I definitely think it was a presence in the house.

07:54I feel it's male. I think it's an adult. I think it's an old person.

08:56So I know we are dealing with some form of poltergeist, but we're also dealing with a spirit that likes to move things around to get people's attention.
09:07And this spirit would have been quite comical, quite a personality, quite funny.
09:13For such a small property, there's so much energy in here. It's buzzing.
09:19I'm meeting historian Lorraine Spindler at the pub closest to Alex's cottage, named after the ancient St. Margaret's Well, which was recorded in the Doomsday Book.
09:30So, over the Browther Hill is where the celebrity's cottage is situated.

09:38Yes, very close. And that was part of a complex of buildings known as Ihurst Farm.

09:47Yes. And I must admit, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

09:54Where we are now in this land, there was a George Best living here.

10:01Well, I've got George Best living in this area in 1902 in a house called Elmore.

10:10And then when we look at the census in 1891, here's Ihurst Farm and here's the cottages listed here.
10:19And it's the family of one William Best. And he's the agricultural labourer on the farm itself.

10:26I know. I had to look and look at that.

10:31It's interesting. Best is not a local name.
10:33So this William Best could have lived in Alex Best's cottage.
10:38Yes, certainly. And here we've got William Best. He's aged 41 in 1911. But it's not all straightforward because 1911 is the census where they ask,
10:51how many children have you had and how many children are still alive? And sadly, they've lost one child by the time of 1911.
10:58I mean, I'm all for coincidences. But, you know, sometimes things just crop up that you think, that is a little bit bizarre.

11:13Now we've all finished our initial investigations, we're getting together back at the house to talk through what we found out before revealing to Ian who our celebrity is.

14:03So what we'd like to do first of all, the device here in the middle, ladies, this is called a REM pod. So what this does, this is emitting its own electromagnetic field.
14:12So if anything comes close to it and breaks that field, we'll hear an alarm and the lights will flash.

18:31So the SB-11 is a spirit box.
18:33What it does, essentially, it will sweep through AM, FM frequencies.
18:38The theory behind it is that spirits, because they're operating on a different frequency,
18:42they can make use of that white noise.

24:38fourth camera, which is located in the kitchen, but looking directly down towards the lounge

24:45Camera number five is upstairs in the hallway, and that's the landing shot.
24:48But I think that area is particularly important, given that Carol and Alex have both experienced
24:54things and activity on the stairs.

25:07It was almost like in my subconsciousness, really, but it was more of an energy form.

25:16And the final fixed infrared camera is positioned outside. This is in the garden, looking at the
25:22patio area.
25:23So where do you think we should begin our investigation?
25:26I think if one of us sits on a staircase and one of us goes in the peacock bedroom, there's
25:30chances of picking something up.
25:32Well, I would really like to review that spirit box session. I was recording the whole thing. So if I can go through and maybe pull out some of those responses that we just missed at the time, that might help us.
