01:00Every town has a ghost story, but not all of them are found in books.
01:07Some are etched into the landscape.
01:10Towns with tragic pasts bear the spiritual stains of their dark histories, which are portals.
01:16Gateways to realms unseen.
01:18These ghost portals are used by the dead.
01:25They are a whisper-thin tear in the fabric between this world and the next.
01:29Spiritual portals are a gateway between our physical reality and the spirit realm.
01:37Every time someone dies, portals are created, so their soul moves from this dimension to the spirit realm.
01:43There are always risks associated with spirit portals, because if you don't know how to close it, it's just left open.
01:49You know, you don't know what's going to come through that portal and what the intention of that spirit is.
01:53In America's heartland, just 20 minutes outside of Kansas City, sits the historic suburb of Liberty, Missouri.
02:05Downtown Liberty is a really quaint and quiet and has boutiques, and it's a beautiful space.
02:13I really love to call Liberty home because of its character, its community.
02:17Yeah, it's a growing town. It's still very much a farm community. We've got a nice little college here.
02:26But beneath Liberty's charm lies an ominous truth that cannot be denied.
02:31Liberty, Missouri is absolutely haunted.
02:34Yeah, you want to find ghosts, just walk around. It's just a matter of time.
02:37There's definitely rumors, so, I mean, you hear all about it, especially with the Odd Fellows nearby.
02:41The Odd Fellows was a secret society that took up residence in Liberty in the 1800s and built a sprawling complex at the edge of town.
02:50Now partially abandoned, it originally housed a hospital, retirement home, orphanage, and a meeting lodge.
02:59The Odd Fellows are a fraternal society, much like the Masons.
03:03These societies began to be formed in the late 1800s.
03:06Members who want to join do go through a ritual.
03:17The Odd Fellows' complex in Liberty helped the community by providing free health care at the hospital.
03:22But its members were sworn to secrecy about their rituals and ceremonies inside the lodge.
03:29With secret societies, their rituals are not traditional. Rumors are created.
03:36The mysteries that shroud the secret society are plentiful.
03:43But we do know that they cared for their members from birth through death.
03:46Even building a large cemetery next to the hospital.
03:50There are over 10,000 recorded deaths on the property.
03:54The history here is just incredible.
03:57Portals can be created through a means of conjuring, where you're working with energy.
04:02You're just directing the energy flow.
04:04So you're creating an opening, a gateway from one reality to another.
04:08You might think of an area where there's been a lot of death, loss of life, as being almost like an airport.
04:13So there's a lot of comings and goings.
04:14There's a lot of spiritual activity.
04:16So that spiritual vibration is higher, much higher in these places.
04:21The Odd Fellows' complex eventually fell into disrepair and was abandoned until the property was purchased by Jesse and Melissa Limecooler,
04:29who wanted to restore the historic buildings and use them to house a winery and event space.

04:37When we first took control of the property, we had heard that it was haunted.
04:41That's something we downplayed.
04:42We weren't interested in really talking about it at the time.
04:45Our focus at that time was on renovations going forward.
04:51Once we started renovating and spending time in the buildings, we started experiencing things we can't explain.
04:57And we kind of started looking at each other like, oh, maybe it is haunted.
05:06Spirits are very often confused.
05:08And the reason they act in a certain way is because of that confusion.
05:12Imagine that you're in a space that you've lived in for 150 years.
05:16You've been moving through those halls.
05:17You've been working and living there and going about your business.
05:20And all of a sudden, work starts being done.
05:23Walls are being put up.
05:24New doorways.
05:24It's completely changing the environment that you're used to.
05:28That's going to cause confusion.
05:30And sometimes that confusion can turn into anger, can turn into a lashing out,
05:34or simply maybe the spirit trying to scare the people who are doing the construction away from harming the environment.
05:41I know when I'm here alone that I have situations that are unnerving.
05:45That's not a situation that I enjoy.
05:47A lot of the noises in the building would be groans, creaks, things like that.
05:52I dismissed them as just being part of being in the old building.
05:55But then as we went along, I started experiencing things that were more than groans or creaks.
06:06Jesse and Melissa soon realize that the basement is the source of the mysterious energies.
06:13What's the general feeling in the basement?
06:15You know, um, it's quiet down here.
06:21It's a very quiet space.
06:24I guess it could be a little spooky.
06:27I mean, it's an old basement.
06:32I am here working on a mirror, cleaning it up, painting it, getting it ready to hang.
06:39Giselle is down here on the other end, also working on something.
06:42Giselle is down here on the other end, and I hear whistling.

07:00Giselle is down here on the other end, and at first, I just kind of excited.
07:12The more and the longer it went on, I realized it sounded like it was right next to me.
07:22I know Giselle is the only other person here.
07:36I was looking for Jesse because he was here working that day upstairs.
07:39He's not down here.
07:46I come around the corner, and the whistling stops.
07:52It definitely took me by surprise.
07:59And so now every time I come down here, I'm always a little just looking around, checking over my shoulder, just a little more aware.
08:08When you hear a whistle and you're walking a pathway, traditionally, you're not supposed to whistle back because that's like an invitation to that spirit.
08:17You're basically now communicating.
08:18You're connecting.
08:19I think what's happening here is the spirit is trying to sort of bait her into a certain area because they want to communicate.
08:27They want to interact or perhaps something maybe a little darker.
08:30It's hard to say what the intention is, but I think the whistle is definitely a call to Melissa.
08:35Melissa's fear of the basement is for good reason.
08:39Relics from the Odd Fellows past are a constant reminder of the spiritual energy held within these walls.
08:45So in this room, we have a lot of furniture from the Odd Fellows here.
08:49They're very ornate and gothic looking, but all of these chairs are from the Odd Fellows.
09:01We have a lot of large paintings.
09:03We also have a lot of items that they used in their ritual.
09:08The skeleton.
09:11We have the Ark of the Covenant here.
09:15One of the things that they used in their ritual.
09:18We have some of their costumes that they wore during the initiation.
09:22The masks that have real human hair on them and painted faces.
09:26So a lot of things that they used one way or another during their rituals or initiations.
09:34A spiritual portal would definitely exist in this type of area where there's been a lot of ritual and ceremony.
09:39Where you have spiritual items which have been used for different purposes.
09:44Something that's been infused with that energy through ceremony and ritual.
09:47Those items are so infused with that energy that they'll always kind of speak.
09:53Soon, the spirits begin to use the portal in the basement to cross into the world of the living.
09:59And make themselves known to Melissa and her teenage daughter, Giselle.
10:03So the same night that I heard the whistling down here, Giselle was down here.

10:33She saw a figure walk from one side of the room to the other.
10:46And disappear into brick wall.

11:00I was upset and scared for her.
11:03Like any mom, very protective of your kids.
11:08You don't want them to feel scared.
11:10You want them to feel safe wherever they are.
11:11Especially in some place where they are a lot.
11:16Who do you think this shadow means?
11:18Honestly, I have no idea.
11:19I wonder if it's somebody that, you know, potentially worked here.
11:23This apparition which Giselle sees might be the same one Melissa heard whistling.
11:29But this may also be a different spirit.
11:31This might be a really active portal.
11:32So it might signify that there might be more than one spirit attempting to make contact with the people there.
11:38The flood of spiritual activity created by the portal is soon affecting Jesse as well.
11:53I was behind the bar cleaning up, picking up some things, putting away the trash, things like that.
11:58And then I heard from the entryway here, I heard the piano playing.
12:12So I came around the bar and headed out into the hallway.
12:18And I thought, well, why is it playing right now?
12:29I remember getting an immediate chill that goes from your feet all the way up to your head.

12:38So when the piano was playing, you could hear it echoing.
12:40And then when I stepped over the threshold, that's when the music stopped.
12:56You can see it's an older piano.
13:04It's about the same age as the building, about 125 years old.
13:07I saw no one here seated at the piano.
13:11The top was down.
13:13So there's like no way that it could have played.
13:15This is not a player piano.
13:18Do you play the piano?
13:19I do.
13:20I play some.
13:21Do you demonstrate just a bit of what the melody sounded like?
13:24It was like...
13:26I remember just getting chills.
13:39I remember feeling a chill.
13:40And it wasn't because of cold or anything else.
13:42It was because, wow, I can't believe that just happened.
13:45We've seen musical instruments used in spiritual communication before.
13:48With something like an instrument, a physical piece of equipment like a piano,
13:52that would have been touched, you know, hundreds of times by somebody trying to play.
13:56And that history and the echoes of that history come through.
13:59And sometimes they come through in these manifestations.
14:08Jesse couldn't have known that the haunting music was just the start.
14:11He soon found out just how thin the veil is between living and dead in this building.
14:19One night, we had a large event in the winery.
14:23I'm in the building alone.
14:25And I'm in the bathroom.
14:27Cleaning up.
14:32So I was in here cleaning.
14:34Like, wiping on this area here.
14:36I was cleaning the sink.
14:38And I remember feeling like I was being watched while I was doing this.
14:50My immediate inclination was to turn around, mainly because I wanted to see who or what
14:54was watching me.
14:59I see a boy standing in front of the fireplace.
15:12The feeling that I had was dread, fear.
15:15I remember the hairs on my arm standing up.
15:18Why is he standing there?
15:20And also, why can I see the details of the fireplace through the figure?
15:25He was standing right here, very straight-faced.
15:34And then suddenly, the boy just disappeared.
15:41When you see that apparition and when you see it disappear like that, I mean, it's somewhat
15:46terrifying.
15:47It's not something that's normal.
15:48It shouldn't be normal, but yet it happens here far more often than it should.
15:52Who do you think this boy is?
15:54I believe that the boy was an orphan who used to live in that area and actually sleep
15:59in that area.
16:00And he had simply come back.
16:03When Jesse is seeing this apparition appear to him, when you have full-body apparitions,
16:08it's usually because there's a lot of energy for that spirit to draw upon.
16:12But also, it might be that spirit just trying to get a grasp of how perceptive Jesse is.
16:17A lot of us see things out of the corner of our eye, and we just dismiss those things.
16:21We don't really focus on those things.
16:23Perhaps we're afraid that if we acknowledge those things, it might bring more paranormal
16:27activity.
16:28So it might just be trying to gauge Jesse's perception and awareness.
16:34Despite these unnerving events, Jesse and Melissa have no intention of abandoning the business
16:39they've worked so hard to build.
16:41The Odd Fellows Home has always been a part of this community.
16:45We've never considered trying to stop the haunting.
16:49We feel like it's part of the building, part of the history.
16:51And if they want to be here, as long as they don't cross a line where we feel fear, we're
16:55happy with them to stay.
16:57Jesse and Melissa have made peace with running a haunted business.
17:05But half a country away, another spiritual portal has ripped the fabric between the spiritual
17:11world and ours.
17:13It's time in a home in Ben Salem, Pennsylvania.
17:18I love Ben Salem because everybody is just friendly.
17:21We all know each other.
17:22We all went to high school together, middle school, elementary.
17:25We know our neighbors, we know their kids.
17:28The community is very close.
17:36It still feels like a little bit of country.
17:40It's quiet.
17:41It's peaceful.
17:45Located just 20 minutes up the Delaware River from downtown Philadelphia, Ben Salem is
17:50a town with nearly three and a half centuries of history and more than a few lingering spirits.
17:57Ben Salem was incorporated in 1692.
18:02It's famous because people in Philadelphia would come out of Philadelphia to get away from
18:07the heat, and they built a lot of their mansions along the Delaware River.
18:14The Delaware River wasn't just a playground for colonial Philadelphia's rich and famous.
18:20It was also a dangerous and secretive night crossing point during the Revolutionary War that led to the violent and bloody Battle of Trenton.
18:32The echoes of battle may have faded, but the souls lost to war still linger, creating a spiritual imprint that stains the community to this day.
18:42Anywhere around Philadelphia has kind of a dark history, it's an old place.
18:46Ben Salem was haunted because there's a lot of stuff that happened here, like a lot of bad history and a lot of people died in Ben Salem.
18:55I'm sure there's definitely ghosts in Ben Salem.
19:01The hauntings in Ben Salem are amplified by the rivers that surround the town.
19:06In Ben Salem, an area which has had a lot of death, loss of life, you have this water which acts as kind of a conduit, not just for spirit energy, but a way in which that energy can travel.
19:19So you have this constant rotation of this energy surrounding this town.
19:23This might be a means of a power source, a battery for instance, for an actual spirit portal.
19:29A lot of people have passed away in there by going fishing or just having access to kids, but a lot of issues are right in that area.
19:38I think my town's extremely haunted. I think the water is a great conductor for paranormal.
19:45Physical things have memories and definitely gives off an energy, a vibe, an aura.
19:53That spiritual aura blankets the town of Ben Salem.
19:56And it's especially heavy over Mary Jo Chudley's house, which she has lived in on and off since she was a young girl.
20:04I remember the first time I walked into this house. I remember being so excited because I did have my own room.
20:10And I remember just rolling up the steps and seeing this room. And that was my room. I was drawn right to that room.
20:16But from the very first night she stays in her new home, she can feel Ben Salem's dark energy coursing through the house.
20:24Where are you going to take us now? I'm going to take you upstairs to the one bedroom, okay?
20:29Help me.
20:35So in here, I was sleeping right here.
20:41Where my bed was in my room was right next to the steps.
20:44I would constantly hear something walking up and down the steps all night long.
21:00Like I would ask my brother, were you going up and down the steps? And he said no.
21:04And I would ask my parents and they would say no. But I would hear it all night long.
21:09I knew then that something was different with this house.
21:16Sometimes the first people to be exposed to a ghost in a home is a young child who lives there.
21:24They are more open. They're more receptive to spiritual energy.
21:27They haven't had somebody tell them at this point that that imaginary friend they're playing with isn't real.
21:32It's good for those spirits because she comes in and it's like a lamp on a darkly lit or foggy street.
21:38They go, well, let's talk to this person. This little girl is somebody who can see us.
21:44She could communicate with us. She can tell our story.
21:47We're not forgotten here. She can see us. And that's a powerful draw for them.
21:56It isn't until an innocent game with a neighborhood friend goes awry that Mary Jo invites a portal to open within her home.
22:03My friend at that time was, I guess, dabbling into witchcraft, which back then in the early 80s that we really talked about.
22:13I didn't even know really much about it. I didn't even know what it was.
22:15I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know what was going on. I got mad. I didn't know what was going on.
22:21I got really scared and her face turned white. She couldn't believe it was happening.

22:49That day, I really believe whatever she did, it brought something else into this house.
23:07That wasn't good. I really don't know what she brought in, but the dreams that I was having and the visions I was having was something that wasn't human.
23:28There's always risks involved when initiating any kind of spirit contact, especially when using a tool such as a spirit board, which is basically like a telephone.
23:39You don't know what's going to be on the other end of that line, and you don't know how to hang up that phone.
23:43You know, you don't know what's going to come through. So anytime you make yourself open to this kind of contact, you might be spiritually vulnerable.
23:51With the portal now wide open, terrifying entities from other realms begin to enter into Mary Jo's home.
24:02One day, I was going through a bunch of magazines that was on the side here.
24:10And as I was sitting here, I noticed that something wasn't right, like something was off.
24:35I look over, and I see a big, tall man right over here.
24:46He was very, very tall. He had a wide-brimmed hat, like a cowboy hat.
24:52But I didn't see a face. Nothing, just pure blackness.
25:00And I couldn't see through him.
25:05Who do you think it is?
25:07Yeah, at first I thought it was like my family.
25:09Like my brother and my dad were very tall, but I couldn't see through him.
25:12He was complete black. It was like complete darkness.
25:15There was nothing to that person.
25:19I wouldn't say he was a devil, but if somebody asked me what the devil looks like, that's what I kept seeing.
25:26Sometimes when you have apparitions appear to people as shadowy type of figures whose facial features are hard to distinguish.
25:35It might be that that spirit isn't able to completely manifest. It doesn't have the energy or the power.
25:40Or it might be that that spirit is simply made up of darkness.
25:45You know, it harbors a lot of dark thoughts and intentions and sort of appears as such.
25:50After high school, Mary Jo moves out of Ben Salem.
25:54But years later, when her mother has to sell the family home, Mary Jo buys it and moves back in with her husband Bill and their family.
26:01When me and Bill moved here with our children, I never brought up the paranormal stuff because I was hoping if I don't bring it up, it won't happen.
26:14And if nobody gives it any attention, it'll just leave us alone.
26:20And how did that go?
26:22It didn't go too well. So, yeah, first night it started.
26:26A new spirit passes through the portal and reveals itself to Bill through a doll collection in Mary Jo's childhood bedroom.
26:37Since I lived here, you would hear footsteps across the ceiling, laughter, giggles.
26:43I've been woken up in the middle of the night, sounding like children talking next to me.
26:49I've seen the doors open and close on themselves.
26:51When I married Mary Jo, I thought I was just getting a loving wife.
26:55Never dreamt of you living in a haunted house.

27:14They were all pretty much facing like they are.
27:24Wet my room, got dressed, changed, come back out.
27:26And they were all leaning against glass, with their heads tilted, kind of staring at me going down the hallway.

27:43I didn't give you a warm fuzzy, I'll tell you that. I'm not a big fan of this room.
27:47The dolls creeped me out like you wouldn't believe.
27:48I wish there were some other place to put them, truthfully.
27:49They look cute, but they don't look good.

28:39When Bill discovers these dolls have been moved,
28:41this is definitely evidence that a spirit is manipulating these forms
28:45to either make contact or just to show that it does have that power.
28:51The spiritual activity in Mary Jo's home is relentless,
28:56solidifying her belief that the veil between living and dead is paper thin.
29:00No matter what room you are in in this house,
29:03you will see things on the side of your eye all the time.
29:07The doors opening and closing all the time.
29:11Lights flickering all the time.
29:15Lights turning on, TV's turning on.
29:20Every room is different and I don't think it's the same energy.
29:22I think it's a different spirit every time.
29:29Soon, the entities passing through the spiritual portal
29:32escalate their focus on Mary Jo and her family.
29:35So, one time I was in the kitchen
29:44and I heard Shelby, my dog, make a bunch of noise
29:46in the other room, like growling.
29:48And I walked in here.
30:01I was kind of standing right here.
30:03That cabinet door came flying open
30:20and the china on the bottom came flying out
30:24and they broke.
30:25And that's when I noticed there was an older lady, like, right here.
30:44You could see her face and she was, like, really tiny and petite,
30:48but you could see her face into here.
30:50Who do you think the woman is?
30:55I had no idea because I never recognized her.
31:01It was clear as day.
31:05Has it happened since?
31:07Only that one time.
31:08That was it.
31:10This only happened down here with this cabinet.
31:12I think Mary Jo is the reason
31:17that that spirit had enough energy
31:18to move those doors on the cabinet,
31:21to open those doors.
31:22That takes a lot of force.
31:23That's hard to do.
31:25And I think in this particular case,
31:27you know, Mary Jo, you know,
31:29seeing that happen
31:30and being there when that happens,
31:32very likely she was feeding the energy into that spirit.
31:35These days,
31:42visits from the spirits are less frequent.
31:45And despite the hauntings,
31:47Mary Jo and Bill can't imagine living anywhere else.
31:51I was a big skeptic when it came to the paranormal
31:52and you start finding more and more
31:54and you just can't put your finger on it.

31:58you start to believe.
32:02My house is definitely haunted,
32:04but I've always seen myself like living this
32:07until I get older.

32:09I just feel like this is the house

32:18aren't the only family wrestling
32:20with a spiritual portal in their home.
32:23Nestled just 40 minutes inland
32:25from the Atlantic Ocean
32:26is the military city of Hinesville, Georgia.
32:30Hinesville, Georgia,
32:31very laid back,
32:33very relaxed,
32:33close to the ocean.
32:35So it's a nice little town.
32:40What's special about Hinesville
32:42to me
32:43is the hospitality.
32:45We have a very, very large military town here.
32:47And I loved it so much
32:49that I made it my home.
32:52Hinesville is most known today
32:54for Fort Stewart,
32:55the large army post.
32:56But Hinesville was established
33:00in the 1770s
33:01as a defensive town.
33:02At first,
33:03because of our closeness to Florida.
33:06Because of its strategic military location,
33:09the base also saw mass casualties
33:1180 years later
33:12during the Civil War,
33:14including a violent battle
33:16where the dead
33:17outnumbered the living.
33:18In 1864,
33:20the Hinesville area
33:21would see the Battle
33:22of the Altamaha Bridge,
33:25which is one of the bloodiest battles
33:27during the Civil War
33:27in coastal Georgia.
33:29You have a military base
33:31that's been active
33:31since the 1700s here.
33:33This is going to be a space
33:34where soldiers have left
33:36and never returned
33:37because they've been lost in battle.
33:39There's a lot of grief,
33:40there's a lot of worry,
33:42doubt, fear,
33:43but also the longing for family,
33:45the missing of home.
33:47All of these things,
33:48these high emotional places
33:50that these soldiers
33:51would find themselves in,
33:53these things can create a portal.
33:56Hinesville is a place
33:58where life and death
33:58are separated
33:59by the thinnest of veils.
34:01Its streets and homes
34:03hold terrifying stories
34:04that defy explanation.
34:05Yeah, there's definitely
34:09history here.
34:11We have a jail down the street,
34:12old, old jail,
34:14and there's been people
34:15that have said
34:16there have been sightings there.
34:18I used to live in a house
34:19with a ghost.
34:20We would hear doors slamming,
34:22we would hear water running.

34:27never could have known
34:28that they too
34:29would come face to face
34:30with spirits
34:31when they purchased this home
34:33four years ago
34:33and converted it
34:34into a bed
34:35and breakfast.
34:36When I saw the house,
34:37I was just like in awe.
34:39It's probably the prettiest house
34:41I've seen.
34:42It does feel like
34:43I'm stepping into the past
34:45when I drive up.
34:47I get excited
34:48every time I'm coming up,
34:49every time,
34:49and I get sad
34:50every time I leave.
34:54From the very first night
34:56they stay in the house,
34:57the spirits make
34:58their presence known.
34:59after we got the house,
35:16we were smelling
35:17all kinds of smells.
35:21We came up here,
35:23looked around,
35:24we smelled a lot of
35:26tobacco smoke here.
35:27and we started smelling
35:36a lot of bacon.
35:37we looked to see if
35:58any windows were open,
36:00and a lot of the windows
36:01don't open.
36:02We came down to the kitchen,
36:10you know,
36:11obviously nobody was making anything
36:12because it was just us
36:13in the house.
36:14So,
36:15it was kind of strange.
36:17It just came out of nowhere,
36:18and it didn't stay around
36:20all day either.
36:23There is a lot of documentation
36:25on olfactory manifestations,
36:27the idea that
36:28a spirit can manifest
36:30a specific smell.
36:31We might smell
36:32grandma's perfume.
36:33We might smell
36:33pipe smoke.
36:34You know,
36:34spirits use a multitude
36:35of ways to manifest,
36:37and they use our senses.
36:38They use our ability
36:39to see,
36:40to hear,
36:40and certainly to smell
36:41in order to let us know
36:42that they're there.
36:43Convinced that
36:45the phantom smells
36:46are tied
36:46to the spiritual world,
36:48Sherry and Wesley

36:50of their home
36:51and its previous owners.

36:58and out of the families
37:00that have lived here,
37:01one of the families
37:01had, I believe,
37:0213 children.
37:06And so,
37:07I always feel
37:08kid spirits.
37:09Shortly after
37:13moving into
37:14their new house,
37:15Sherry gets
37:16an unwanted
37:16wake-up call.
37:26I was asleep,
37:28and I feel these
37:29and kind of hear
37:30these taps like
37:31at the end of the bed.
37:34And I thought
37:35it was my husband.
37:37I thought he was
37:37playing a joke on me.
37:39So,
37:41I looked over the bed.
37:47I wasn't expecting that.
37:49It just came out
37:50of the blue.
37:55Realizing that
37:56the taps were
37:57not anything
37:58human-related
37:59was very freaky
38:01to me.
38:04That's something
38:05little kids would do,
38:06you know,
38:07kind of like,
38:07get up.
38:09Get up.
38:10What are they,
38:10watching me sleep?
38:11Which is sometimes
38:12the way I do feel.
38:16Within a few weeks
38:17of living in their
38:17new home,
38:19Sherry and Wesley
38:19discover the source
38:20of the spiritual
38:21activity.
38:24Out of all the rooms
38:25in this house,
38:26this room bothers me
38:27the most.
38:27I just kind of
38:28avoid this room.
38:29This is my least
38:30favorite room in the house.
38:31Okay,
38:32so over here,
38:34we think it's a
38:35bootlegger panel.
38:38And,
38:39um,
38:40so back
38:41during Prohibition
38:42or whatnot,
38:43alcohol was
38:43stashed in there.
38:44all kind of weird
38:57energy happens,
38:58um,
38:59when this is open.
39:05It's almost like,
39:06um,
39:07kind of like
39:07maybe a portal
39:08for negativity.
39:09so we never
39:12open it.
39:12We just keep it
39:13closed.
39:15I put a trash can
39:16over it
39:16because I just want
39:17whatever's there
39:18to stay there.
39:20The physical
39:21characteristics of a
39:22building,
39:22such as a hatch,
39:23could definitely
39:24generate activity.
39:25If that hatch
39:26was used for
39:27any type of
39:28illicit or
39:29illegal purposes,
39:30it's still going to
39:30be infused with
39:31that energy.
39:32So anytime it's
39:33used,
39:33it's almost like
39:34you're imprinting
39:34your own energy
39:35into it.
39:36You're activating it.
39:37You're giving it
39:37a battery.
39:38One night,
39:38the bootlegger
39:40hatch gets
39:40left open
39:41and Sherry
39:42and Wesley
39:42get a terrifying
39:43surprise.
39:57Wesley and I
39:58started hearing
39:58sounds above us
40:00and I'm thinking
40:07what is making
40:08those sounds?
40:09We're alone in
40:10the house,
40:10so we weren't
40:12really sure what
40:12was going on
40:13and I sent Wesley
40:14up to find out
40:16what was going on.
40:17We just heard a
40:18noise upstairs.
40:19I'm coming up
40:19the stairs to find
40:20out what that
40:20noise is.
40:21We got four
40:22doors up here,
40:25three go-to-bedrooms,
40:25one goes to the
40:28bathroom.
40:29So I'm standing
40:30here.
40:32I hear a
40:32doorknob moving.
40:36It makes me nervous
40:37actually being up
40:38here talking about
40:39these doors.
40:39You can see I'm
40:40shaking a little bit.
40:41I mean,
40:41it could move now
40:42and it would be,
40:43you know,
40:43pretty scary.
40:44So I try not to
40:45get scared,
40:45but at night
40:46when it's raining
40:47and you hear these
40:48things move around,
40:49it is unnerving.
40:51It sounds like
40:52this particular home
40:53is ripe with
40:55the qualities
40:56of what we would
40:58consider to be
40:58a spiritual portal.
41:00After another
41:01sleepless night
41:02of terrifying
41:02spiritual activity,
41:04Sherry and Wesley
41:05search for physical
41:06evidence of the
41:07ghosts they know
41:08are entering their
41:09home through the
41:10portal.
41:12Sherry,
41:14come up here.
41:15The next morning
41:16we came in here
41:17to see,
41:18you know,
41:19just to check
41:19everything out.
41:21Look at this.
41:29On this blanket,
41:30it's real soft
41:31and impressionable.
41:33There were footprints.
41:34They're about this big
41:35and there was
41:37several of them
41:38and they didn't
41:39look like animals
41:40to me.
41:40To me,
41:40they look like
41:40toddler prints.
41:44It's really easy
41:45to make a print
41:46on there.
41:47And so when
41:48we leave,
41:49we always do this
41:50and we smooth it
41:51out so there's
41:52nothing.
41:53So when we came
41:54in and there
41:54were prints,
41:56you can't mistake
41:57anything else
41:57because it was
41:58like dented in.
42:01I was very shocked
42:06because I've never
42:08seen anything like
42:08that in this house.
42:10And, you know,
42:11you don't expect
42:12to come up to
42:12a room
42:13and see
42:14toddler prints
42:15on a blanket.
42:16That's just not
42:16normal.
42:17this child's baby's
42:23trying to communicate
42:24with you,
42:25do you think?
42:26Um, could be.
42:27Could be.
42:28Um, I definitely
42:30feel like there are
42:31spirits here to me
42:33all the time.
42:34So they have the
42:34scent of tobacco.
42:35They have the sighting
42:37of a child's footprints.
42:39This definitely
42:39signifies that there's
42:40more than one spirit
42:41at work.
42:42This could definitely
42:42indicate that there's
42:43more than one spirit
42:43utilizing this spirit
42:44portal into their home.
42:45Desperate to stop
42:49the spiritual activity
42:50in her home,
42:52Sherry takes matters
42:53into her own hands.
42:55I've heard that you
42:56can put rosemary
42:57around to ward off
42:58like evil spirits
43:00or whatnot.
43:01So I chunked a whole
43:02bunch of rosemary
43:03in there just to
43:03maintain, you know,
43:06you know, harmony
43:07in this house
43:08and not have anything,
43:09um, mean or,
43:11you know, evil get out.
43:13In areas where there's
43:14a lot of spirit activity,
43:16whether this is an area
43:17which has seen a lot
43:18of death, a lot of loss
43:19of life, that area
43:20is always going to be
43:20active.
43:21But if there's entities
43:23which you feel are
43:24negative, then you
43:25would want to make
43:26that location
43:27inhospitable to darkness.
43:28So you would make
43:29sure to radiate
43:31positive energy,
43:32you know, positive
43:33intentions.
43:33Just make it a place
43:34that's inhospitable
43:35to darkness.
43:37Sherry's attempts
43:38to rid her home
43:39of spirits have helped.
43:41But the energetic draw
43:42created by the portal
43:43is too powerful.
43:46It won't get me
43:47to leave.
43:48It's my house.
43:48I'm staying.
43:50They'll go before I will.
43:52In Liberty Bend,
43:53Salem, and Hinesville,
43:54we see so many examples
43:56of spirit portals
43:57opening and closing,
43:59growing in power,
44:00allowing so many
44:00different kinds of
44:01spirits to infiltrate
44:02this area.
44:04We have different
44:05examples of these
44:06portals being opened
44:07and closed in different
44:08ways through ceremony
44:09and ritual,
44:10through the use of a
44:11spirit board,
44:12through a hatch
44:12being opened and closed.
44:14There are so many
44:14different ways
44:15that these portals
44:16are utilized
44:16for spirits to travel
44:18from their dimension
44:19to this one.
44:19And I think it's
44:24a way to be
44:25to be able to
44:26to be able to
44:27be able to
44:28because the
44:28heart
44:29and more
44:29themselves
44:29is
44:32to be able to
44:33see.
