01:54Jefferson City is a beautiful, welcoming, engaging place

02:07Established in 1821 with a population of less than 50,000, Jefferson City is one of the smallest state capitals in the country
02:17But this small town has more than just history lurking in the shadows
02:23The prison is probably the site that we hear the most ghost stories from
02:33Rumor has it around Jefferson City that the penitentiary is haunted
02:37Missouri State Penitentiary was opened in 1836
02:42And is one of the oldest and most notoriously merciless prisons in the United States
02:49Called the bloodiest 47 acres in America
02:51And it really lived up to that reputation throughout its history
02:54It was almost always violent, it was overpopulated
02:57And prisoners faced a number of forms of punishments that many of us today would consider uncivilized or brutal
03:05They would be beaten with the cat-o'-nine-tails, sometimes up to 90 times at one time
03:10More than 1,800 people had died at Missouri State Penitentiary
03:15Hundreds of deaths
03:19Murders
03:21Assault
03:22It's almost like they're embedded in the soil of Jefferson City
03:28The energy imprint is quite intense
03:31It definitely impacts, I think, where we are today as a city
03:37Anyone touched by that prison has experienced some form of its dark past
03:44And of the awful things that happened there
03:46The dark past of the penitentiary casts an ominous shadow all over Jefferson City
03:54And nowhere is that shadow darker than the home owned by Aaron and Aaron Clark
04:01Less than half a mile away from the prison grounds
04:04So my wife's name is Aaron with an E
04:11We're both Aaron and Aaron
04:12Not to confuse anybody
04:13The home is well over 100 years old, built in 1910
04:20And it's one of the first homes that were built in the Jefferson City area
04:24The first time I walked into this house, someone had spray printed 666 on the door
04:39There were other things that I noticed that were written on the floors
04:45Such as a pentagram
04:46More 666es
04:50It was an eerie feeling
04:55It made you think a little bit of what was going on with the house
04:58How and why did this not turn you away, like seeing the satanic references?
05:02I thought it was just a joke
05:04It didn't take it seriously
05:05And we felt like this pull, this drawing to the home
05:09Like we were called to the house
05:11That we needed to transform this house to our home
05:14Once they move in, something else in the home makes its presence known
05:20We started having things that by themselves were nothing
05:30Lights flashing
05:33We started smelling things that smelled like moldy towels
05:38Every night the house would get loud
05:419, 10 o'clock at night
05:43Air conditioning and heat would start just banging
05:46A bunch of little things that we thought were little things until they weren't
05:51That's when Aaron decides to do some research on the history of his home
05:56And discovers its terrifying connection to the prison
05:59The original owners of the home would borrow inmates
06:03From the nearby prison to do handyman work around the house
06:08And since they were prisoners and if things went late
06:11They would just lock them in the basement
06:13Okay, here we go
06:17Okay, so
06:23Kind of want to stop in here just a little bit
06:25I already feel a little
06:27When I'm down here already
06:29It's just, I don't like it
06:30But this is the room that had all the
06:33The cages
06:34Prisoners were locked in the cages
06:39Basically all night long
06:42Very creepy
06:48I'll show you guys around here
06:50So we walked into the room that I really don't like
06:56This is the room that I tend to avoid the most
07:02So as we were doing a remodel of the home
07:05I kept noticing one spot in the basement
07:11Everything else was just bone dry
07:15Except for this one spot
07:17It just gave me a feeling of heaviness
07:30Fear
07:31I can only imagine what type of things happen in the basement
07:35Every time I would go down there
07:38It stayed the same shape
07:39It wouldn't get any bigger
07:40It wouldn't get any smaller
07:41And I can't figure out where it's coming from
07:44This might be an energetic imprint
07:46From prisoners that were held there in the past
07:49Spirits might try to keep this area continually wet
07:52Water acting as a conduit between worlds
07:54For spiritual energy
07:55This sensation that Aaron feels
07:57When he touches this water
07:58Might be a transfer of energy
08:00From the spirit to him
08:01I don't like the energy
08:06In this room
08:07I don't like it at all

09:05Just standing there staring at me
09:07And he probably appeared for
09:21Five seconds
09:22And then he was gone
09:23There were things in this house
09:27That truly made me believe
09:29That I was going to be hurt
09:30Or my children were going to be hurt
09:32And it isn't long
09:37Before her premonition comes true
09:39We went to bed
09:41Everything seemed normal
09:43As normal can be in this house
09:45I woke up in the middle of the night
10:10And there was something on me
10:12Being aggressive with me
10:13Showing me that it was dominant
10:15I knew Aaron was next to me
10:23I knew he was sleeping
10:24I knew that if he could wake up
10:26He maybe could try to protect me
10:27But I could do nothing
10:28Being assaulted by a dark
10:42Horrible energy
10:43It's the most helpless
10:44I've ever felt in my whole life
10:45With Aaron being pinned down
10:48This is definitely a characteristic
10:49Of a sinister spirit
10:51This is someone who wants to take control
10:54Of not just the house
10:57But possibly Aaron herself
10:58How do you protect yourself
11:00Against something that
11:01We don't even know exists
11:03Every single day
11:04I felt like I was losing a battle
11:06Things are happening to my wife
11:09I'm feeling more and more helpless
11:11In this situation
11:12We were not at peace
11:14In our own home
11:15And just as the souls
11:17Of the former prisoners
11:18Are pushing the Clarks
11:20To their breaking point
11:21The condemned spirits
11:23Fix their sights
11:24On the most vulnerable member
11:25Of their household
11:26Their daughter, Raina
11:29When my daughter
11:34Started sleepwalking in the house
11:35She would walk down the hallway
11:39To our room
11:39And we would guide her
11:41Back to her bedroom
11:42My daughter would not sleepwalk
11:45Anywhere outside of this house
11:47She would spend the night
11:48In her grandmother's house
11:49But the moment she would
11:50Come back home
11:51She would sleepwalk immediately
11:53As the sleepwalking continued
11:56It just became more scary for us
11:59One thing that scared me
12:01Is that she looked at me
12:02And said, Mommy
12:03What would happen
12:04If I threw my baby brother
12:05Out the window?
12:07I absolutely knew
12:08That that was not my daughter
12:10And that something
12:11Was messing with her
12:11This might be a form of possession
12:13Where Raina
12:14Had never sleptwalked before
12:15But she finds herself
12:17Doing so in this home
12:18Where the spirit is able
12:20To enter her energy field
12:21When she's most vulnerable
12:22Ray?
12:23And cause her to do things
12:25That she usually doesn't

12:33That's quite a bit
12:37And it was progressively
12:38Getting worse and worse
12:39So this particular night
12:47I'm up reading a book
12:48And I start to hear

12:55And what I see is

13:19And she has this huge smile
13:24On her face
13:25What's wrong with you?
13:34I get freaked out
13:36And I get scared
13:36And I just yell
13:37Get back in the bed
13:38And she just
13:39Quietly just gets back
13:40In her bed
13:41I wanted to wish it away
13:46Because I couldn't do anything
13:47About it
13:48Couldn't protect my family
13:50I felt extremely helpless
13:52At that moment
13:54It made me realize
13:55I'm done
13:55I can't do this anymore
13:56It was like my last straw
13:57It's taken its toll
13:58Terrified for the safety
14:05Of their family
14:06The Clarks decide to move
14:07But the question remains

15:50Actually quite a few
15:52Studios or sets
15:54That's one of its
15:55Industries that it's
15:56Always had
15:56The movie Poltergeist
15:58Was filmed in
15:59Simi Valley
16:00Talk about some
16:01Good ghost story cred
16:03I don't think it gets

16:04The Poltergeist house
16:05But Simi Valley's
16:08History is a world
16:09Away from the
16:10Glamorous lights

16:14Of cults
16:15In the 1920s

18:29It wasn't too bad
18:32In the beginning
18:32We thought it was

18:33But it got
18:35A lot less funny
18:36As time went

21:30What had just happened
21:31But you don't expect
21:33A person in your room
21:34It's terrifying
21:35Now we have a spirit
21:37That's presenting itself
21:38To two people
21:39Showing that it has
21:40More power over the living
21:42It has enough power
21:43To manifest itself
21:44That it has that ability
21:45To manipulate and control
21:47Concerned about their safety
21:50Danielle digs into the history
21:52Of their property
21:53And the surrounding neighborhood
21:55I found out that there were
21:58A lot of bikers
21:58That lived up here
22:00This neighborhood was so dangerous
22:02Back in the day
22:03Because of the biker element
22:04That the sheriffs could not drive
22:06Through the neighborhood
22:06They had to patrol
22:09From the hills above
22:10With binoculars
22:10And those gangs
22:12Had an even more shocking guest
22:14It made me very concerned
22:16When I found out
22:18Who the spirit was
22:19In our house
22:20It turns out

22:25Squatted in my guest house
22:26So I found a picture
22:29That looked like
22:30The age that I saw him
22:32I showed her
22:33And she said

22:38To haunt my house

22:41And it's not long
22:47Before the spirit
22:48Preys on Morgan again
22:50One night
22:53I was fast asleep
22:55And I woke up to

23:06The house was vibrating
23:10At the foot of my bed

23:29And he was gone

24:23Back to sleep
24:24And I wake up
24:51To a horrible burning
24:53And I have scratches
24:57On the back of my arm
24:58I actually have a scar
25:02The cuts ran pretty deep
25:04On my arm

25:06Satanic man
25:08And we don't know
25:09What him and his followers
25:10May have done in that home
25:12What kind of rituals
25:13So when I hear that
25:15Morgan's arm has been scratched
25:16The first thing that comes to me
25:18Is demonic energy

25:21Physically attacked me
25:23What worse could happen
25:25I don't know how much further
25:27It could go
25:28Having my daughter

25:32Was the worst part for me
25:34And being hurt
25:35I couldn't protect her

26:46And then I can see
26:51A woman standing there
26:52Staring directly at me
26:55She was saying
26:58It's by the door
26:59And is crawling
27:03On the ceiling
27:04Towards us
27:05To where my mom
27:35And it was terrifying
27:37I was completely scared
27:45I didn't know what to think
27:46I didn't know what just happened
27:47It's possible that the spirit
27:50Presenting itself as female
27:51Could indeed be one of
27:53Manson's followers
27:54That followed him in death
27:56As it followed him in life
27:57This attack was the last straw
28:06For Morgan and her mother
28:07And they reach out

29:31The first thing that comes to mind

29:33Originally settled
29:35In the early 1800s
29:37By members of the Mormon faith
29:39Fleeing persecution
29:40Salt Lake City
29:41Salt Lake City
29:41Was also known at this time
29:43For its strategic military location
29:45That protected the main mountain pass
29:47Going east or west
29:48Over the Rockies
29:49A lot of the Civil War history
29:52In Utah
29:52Has to deal with Fort Douglas
29:53Built in 1862
29:55Fort Douglas
29:56Was established very early
29:57And it stayed for a long time
29:59There's a rich history there
30:00But you can also feel
30:02That there were some dark things
30:03That happened there
30:04This was at times
30:08A place of suffering
30:09And at no time
30:11Was that suffering
30:11More apparent
30:12Than during World War II
30:14Fort Douglas was later used
30:16To house prisoners of war
30:18During the Second World War
30:19They would have had
30:20Harsh conditions
30:21And suffered
30:22And there would have been
30:23A great deal of conflict
30:24And trauma
30:24In that space

30:27It's often cited
30:27As one of the most haunted spots
30:29In Salt Lake City
30:30I truly believe that
30:33Things that happened in the past
30:35Affect present day energy
30:36They always leave something behind
30:38Another dark legacy
30:40That still haunts Salt Lake City

30:45Most dangerous
30:45And prolific serial killers
30:47Infamous serial killer

30:51This is where he established

32:25My heart
32:40Started beating
32:41Really fast
32:42And then heavy footsteps

32:51And I just
32:56Started to peek out

33:05And there was
33:06No one there
33:07And that's when
33:17Some toys
33:18Started going off
33:20All on their own
33:21And I got even more scared
33:33It was terrifying
33:57I don't know
33:58If the first word
33:59That popped into my head
34:00Was ghost
34:01But I did think
34:03It wasn't right
34:04Something's not okay
34:06It's possible
34:07That the spirit
34:08Is trying to establish
34:09Dominance over Fiona
34:10To show her
34:11That it can create
34:13These sounds
34:14And also to maybe
34:15Instill fear
34:16I don't look at my toys
34:22I don't even know
34:23How long it took me
34:24To play with those toys again
34:26I think I kind of
34:27Shoved them in a corner
34:28And didn't touch them
34:31And kept them out of sight
34:33For a very long time
34:34Fiona isn't the only one
34:40Who experiences
34:41The dark energy
34:42In the house
34:43Her sister Sarah
34:45Has also been plagued
34:46By eerie encounters
34:47Some of my experiences
34:50Were really scary
34:52Really terrified me
34:53Sometimes you just get
34:58A heavy feeling
34:59Something that
35:01That just seems
35:03Unhappy
35:04Maybe even a little bit angry
35:07We always hear
35:13Random footsteps
35:14But when you go and look
35:17There's nobody there
35:20Those are definitely
