00:00But you know, we're finding out right now who the really good football players in collegiate football are.
00:05And it always seems like the quarterbacks are going to lead the race.
00:09If you look at the Heisman odds updated today, do you know who's in the lead?
00:13It's Carson Beck.
00:15Oh, how about that, Joe Ranieri?
00:17The Miami Hurricanes and the back boys plus 750.
00:20John Mateer has been fantastic for Oklahoma, plus 950.
00:23Gunnar Stockton for Georgia, who pulled out a miracle win on Rocky Top this past weekend.
00:28And a great wide receiver in Jeremiah Smith at 12-1.
00:31But Carson Beck, leader in the clubhouse right now for the Miami Hurricanes.
00:36Oh, they just print quarterbacks down there, don't they?
00:38Get into that NIL money.
00:40Make that transfer portal commitment here and bring in a superstar quarterback.
00:46No, he has looked a part.
00:47The team has looked a part.
00:49And a lot offensively has been riding on his shoulder.
00:53And he has delivered.
00:54But there are a number of quarterbacks on that list that are actually having really, really good seasons.
01:01Marcel Reed there at Texas A&M has been great.
01:04Dampierre has also been good.
01:07Dante Moore, keep an eye on this kid out of Oregon.
01:10They are really, really dangerous offensively.
01:15They got the Civil War this weekend, Donnie.
01:17He might throw for 600 yards against this Oregon State team, which is just awful.
01:23So, he's another kid that could be a long shot at Oregon that you keep an eye on here.
01:29Let's take a look at the Heisman Power rankings listed here by the College Football Report.
01:33Carson Beck, as we know, listed number one at this point.
01:36John Mateer.
01:36I've watched him play.
01:37I really like that guy's game.
01:39Marcel Reed.
01:39What a fun quarterback and a fun offense for Texas A&M.
01:43Jaden Maiva.
01:44Never saw him play for SC.
01:45Gunnar Stockton.
01:46Just watched him play.
01:47He's not all that flashy, but sometimes winds pile up when you're at Georgia and you go in the Rocky Top and pull games out.
01:53You're going to be in that Heisman race here.
01:55Devin Dampier.
01:55Never watched him play.
01:57And that looks like he's Utah.
01:59Is that correct?
01:59Not Houston, right?
02:00Dampier.
02:01Utah.
02:01Am I getting that right?
02:02Utah.
02:02The UU out there.
02:03Yep.
02:03Diego Pavia.
02:04Watched him play before.
02:05Sui Robinson.
02:06Never saw him play before.
02:07Dante Moore.
02:08Never saw him play before.
02:10Taylor Green.
02:10Is that a made-up name?
02:11There's my Heisman power rankings.
02:14That is.
02:14I'm telling you.
02:15Look at the bottom there.
02:17There were some guys there that are, A, going to have the opportunity to sling it in a lot of situations.
02:23And we know how Oregon does it.
02:25Utah would be interesting because Utah is a power football team.
02:29So, will they allow him to drop back and throw the ball all over the place?
02:34They might have to this week against Texas Tech.
02:37So, all those rankings, Donnie, could be changing on a week-to-week basis.
02:43Oh, yeah.
02:43And how about this weekend?
02:44Florida comes to town.
02:45ESPN game days there.
02:47College football today for us.
02:48We'll be talking ad nauseum.
02:50Carson back on the big stages here.
02:51That's where you get those votes, Joe.
02:53You don't get those votes when you play Bethune-Cookman.
02:55You get those votes when you beat ranked opponents or in-state rivals.
02:58That's how you get it done.
02:59But how about the updated college football national championship odds?
03:03And it starts up in the horseshoe with the Ohio State Buckeyes at a plus-550 price.
03:08Georgia and Penn State both 6-1.
03:10And I'm going to say it again.
03:11Penn State should be 160-1 right now.
03:14They haven't played anybody.
03:16I don't want to see their faces until they actually play an opponent here.
03:20Texas 7-1.
03:21Oregon 7-1.
03:22LSU 10-1.
03:23Bama 13-1.
03:24And disrespectful.
03:26Having those Miami Hurricanes at 16-1, Joe.
03:28Yeah, and the only team that has actually has two wins against ranked teams so far this year is the University of Miami.
03:39Is the only team on that list that's actually played not one but two games against ranked top 25 teams.
03:47And they won them both here.
03:49How many has Penn State played against?
03:51How much is – how is – have they played a lot of ranked teams?
03:55I don't think they've played a Division I team yet.
03:57Aren't they playing, like, Division III?
03:58Like, I think they played William Patterson, my alma mater, the first three weeks of the season.
04:02Which – let me get into this, too, because I always have a bone to pick.
04:05If you are a Penn State fan, right, you've got to pay a decent amount for season tickets.
04:09You've got to donate to the school to get good seats, whatever it is.
04:12But I can't imagine, like, when I was a season ticket owner for the Philadelphia Eagles,
04:15at least on a week-to-week basis, you were getting a solid product that you can cheer and go to the game.
04:19Let's just say spreads under 10, under 7, under 3.
04:22Eventually, he's like, hey, can't wait for the Penn State season to start.
04:26And they go, I'm going to drive four hours to watch three of the most horrific football games of the season.
04:32Why do it?
04:33Like, in college football, it seems like you pay for a season ticket to get, like, one good opponent.
04:37Then you can watch, Joe.
04:39Why?
04:39Yeah.
04:40Well, listen, I mean, who's driving all the way to Happy Valley in the middle of absolutely nowhere, Donnie,
04:45with nothing to do except this?
04:47And I've got to go watch the beat-up CW post?
04:49I'm good.
04:50Like, I am good.
04:51I'll just hear, here's my check, but really, I don't want to go to any games.
04:56By the way, in 1997, William Patterson, me, lost 31-3 to CW post on Long Island.
05:03Now, they were Division II, we were Division III, so, you know, we got smacked around a little bit at that point.
05:07So, no shame in our game, people, and no shame in our number two coming up next.
