00:00College football, big week on deck here.
00:02Just had a couple big games this past weekend.
00:04Enjoyed them and had a lot of fun.
00:05And it's time to sort of reset the marketplace here.
00:08The AP poll, the top 25 for week six.
00:11Number one football team, Joe Ranieri in the country.
00:13It's Ohio State.
00:14Number two is Oregon.
00:16Number three is Miami.
00:17The Rodney Dangerfield right now.
00:19They get no respect for winning football games
00:21because Oregon beat a team that could never beat anybody
00:23who's any good in Penn State.
00:25They jump them.
00:26Ole Miss five.
00:26Oh, you fifth.
00:28Without their starting quarterback here.
00:30And there's Penn State sitting at seven.
00:31I don't know how they have a thousand lives here
00:33and just get credit for losing football games,
00:35but that's Penn State.
00:36But also we get down to that team in the 21st spot there,
00:39the Notre Dame fighting Irish,
00:42making that steady move up the standings, Joe.
00:46Yeah, this is all about what we thought it was going to be here, Donnie.
00:51You got Texas, Texas Tech just on the outside of the top 10 looking in.
00:56All of this will figure itself out here
00:58over the next couple of weeks because the games and the matchups.
01:03Well, we're going to get tested here.
01:04It's unfortunate Penn State waited until, you know, week five
01:08in order to be able to actually see if they could play or not
01:11and waited until Oregon.
01:13And unfortunately, that didn't work out.
01:15But if you're going to lose, you know, losing in the first five or six weeks
01:19isn't the worst thing with how many playoff teams we have.
01:23But it's going to be interesting to see how they bounce back.
01:26Illinois bounce back well.
01:28We'll see what Penn State does here.
01:30But a lot of questions to be answered this week, no doubt.
01:33I'll tell you, the question is,
01:34how come the books don't understand how to price Heisman Trophy winners?
01:37Oh, look, Francisco Mendoza, fantastic.
01:40He's the favorite.
01:41He's no longer the favorite.
01:42He's at 14 to 1 now.
01:43Moore goes into Penn State, comes away with a victory, plus 650 price for him.
01:47Smith, the talented wide receiver, plus 950.
01:49And then you have Simpson, who had a big win down there in Samford Stadium
01:53in Athens as Alabama knocked off Georgia.
01:56And then Carson Beck at a 10 to 1 price.
01:58And Chambliss, who is a backup quarterback,
02:00now thrust into the Heisman conversation after a big win against LSU.
02:05Huge win against LSU there.
02:08And to have a backup quarterback like that is pretty fortunate there
02:12for Lane Kiffin and company.
02:15But again, we expect him offensively to be good.
02:19It's that defense of Ole Miss.
02:21Hats off.
02:22Very underrated here.
02:23We'll see if they can, you know, make a move there in the SEC.
02:27Everybody should have a luxury of a backup quarterback as good as Chambliss.
02:30I mean, my goodness, man.
02:30The guy is guaranteed for like over 300 yards combined each and every week
02:34in a big-time performance there.
02:35I loved what I saw there.
02:37Ole Miss could be a team to tangle with down the stretch.
02:39Let's get a preview of some of these games that's coming up Saturday, Joe.
02:42Could have been bigger than what it is.
02:44Florida State was supposed to be a top-10 team,
02:46but got beat last week by Virginia on the road in a shootout
02:49that Joe Ranieri told you to take the over in that football game.
02:52So we're looking at Miami and Florida State, number three versus number 18.
02:56Miami, the road team, going in the doke.
02:58Minus four-and-a-half point favorite for the Hurricanes
03:00in a total of 54-and-a-half.
03:03Yeah, this is – well, we're going to learn a little something
03:06about this Florida State team.
03:08This is another one to me, though, Donnie.
03:10I'm looking at this.
03:11How are we on the – are we sweating out an under in this game?
03:15I don't think so.
03:17I think both teams are going to be able to put points up,
03:21and I think this is going to be one of those wild shootouts.
03:24I don't think it's going to be a rock fight,
03:26but ultimately I think Miami's got the better team.
03:30Not an easy place to play, but Miami's got more talent
03:33on both sides of the ball.
03:35I think they'll just make a few more plays than Florida State,
03:38and that'll be good enough to get the road win.
03:39First time in history, Vandy and Alabama not playing each other,
03:44but playing each other while they're both ranked at this point,
03:46anchored down, Commodores, as Vandy goes on the road.
03:49And I guess – look at this.
03:51I have the look-ahead line at Vandal, 22-and-a-half,
03:54and now I see minus 10-and-a-halves across the board.
03:57Let me tell you something about college football.
04:00If Kalen DeBoer gets beat by – I don't care what Vanderbilt's record is
04:04or what their actual rank is.
04:06Going to Tuscaloosa at Bryant-Denny and Vanderbilt beating Alabama,
04:11I don't know if Alabama will have a football program on Sunday morning, Joe.
04:15Yeah, well, it was bad enough, right?
04:17You can't lose to them a second straight season, right?
04:19If you're Alabama and Kalen DeBoer.
04:21You just cannot do it.
04:23But I'll tell you what, you know, I still think Vandy,
04:26if they go toe-to-toe with Alabama and maybe fall just a little bit short,
04:31anything less than being absolutely blown out and manhandled,
04:35I think we're legit talking about a possibility of a playoff contender here in Vandy.
04:40They've got all the pieces, and nobody's talking about them here.
04:44Diego Pavia goes on the road.
04:47I mean, what is this?
04:47It's going to be Manziel Part 2,
04:48where Manziel basically won the Heisman for beating Alabama in Alabama.
04:51That rise up, whoa, this team is really good.
04:53Vandy ranked.
04:55Unbelievable stuff.
04:56I'll tell you who's not ranked.
04:57That's the Florida Gators.
04:58But I got to tell you, sneaky suspicion this weekend.
05:01Texas going on the road, you know, warmer temperatures there,
05:05muggy weather in Florida, chance for rain on Saturday.
05:08Texas lookahead line, minus 7.5, now down to 6.5.
05:11Look at this total, 42.5 to 41.5.
05:15Why do I feel like Florida will be in this game, Joe?
05:18And I want to take the Gators to cover against Arch Manning.
05:21And the long ones?
05:23Yeah.
05:24Donnie, this game was circled before the season started,
05:27and we thought this was going to be a – what a battle this was going to be.
05:31You know, two quarterbacks, Lagway and Arch Manning, this was going to be –
05:35yeah, no.
05:36Now you've got the Gators, a 1-3.
05:38The offense is stuck in the mud.
05:40Their defense is the best part of this team.
05:43And the defense in the swamp is going to give Arch Manning a whole lot of problems.
05:47Keep in mind, too, by the way, Texas has not played a power for a school in, what, a month?
05:53Yeah.
05:53So this is, you know, say what you want, not an easy place to play.
05:57And that defense of Florida is going to give him all sorts of fits.
06:02But if you're Florida, if you're going to get – if you're going to salvage this season,
06:06you've got to win this game at home against Texas now.
06:09Hey, Joe, remember DJ Lagway was a frontrunner to win the Heisman a couple weeks ago?
06:13Well, the football season actually happened at this point.
06:16Same thing with Notre Dame, left for dead at 0-2.
06:19But it feels like your boy Donnie Wright's sad on that side.
06:21He goes, don't give up yet, Notre Dame.
06:23Wake up the echoes.
06:24Two straight victories here.
06:25They're home against Boise, which is supposed to be a tougher opponent here.
06:29They're favored by 20.5 points, but a total of 63.5.
06:32The one thing we love, Joe, not Notre Dame's record.
06:35That offense can move it right now, huh?
06:37This is one of the best offenses Notre Dame has had in a very long time.
06:42The defense is down, but the offense is more than making up for it.
06:46I think they go scorched earth from here on out, Donnie.
06:49I think you're talking about two to three score victories across the board
06:54with this weak schedule that remains.
06:56From a famous Notre Dame hater that your boy DRS is, I'm buying it on Notre Dame.
07:01The minute they lost to Texas A&M, I looked at that schedule and said,
07:04they are going to run the table.
07:06Is SC that good?
07:07No.
07:07Is Boise that good?
07:08No.
07:08Would you like them to be ranked a little bit higher to sort of pad that momentum?
07:12Yes.
07:12But at the end of the day, everybody understands the NCAA loves Notre Dame in the playoff.
07:17They will get in the college football playoff.
