00:00College football is about to enter the postseason championship weekend in the books.
00:05We had nine games, some good, some not so good.
00:09But we finally have a field of 12.
00:12We've talked, Adam, you and I, a lot throughout the season on Saturdays,
00:16who should make the playoffs, who should be out.
00:19We now have the 12-team field.
00:21My personal opinion, would love to get your take on it.
00:24My opinion is Miami belonged in over Notre Dame all along.
00:29I feel sort of bad for Notre Dame, 10 wins in a row.
00:33Jeremiah Love making a push throughout the season for the Heisman.
00:37But Miami beat Notre Dame head-to-head.
00:40I want to see the Canes have a shot.
00:42We'll have an opportunity to see that in what should be the most entertaining round one game.
00:47Miami at Texas A&M.
00:50The Irish, listen, you got to win your games when you're playing better opponents didn't happen.
00:56But I almost have a bigger beef with Alabama.
00:58I know the metrics looked good, but three losses did not play well Saturday against Georgia in Atlanta.
01:06And I think it's sort of convenient that we forgot about what happened in week one.
01:11Maybe the worst loss of all the playoff teams to Florida State, which is under 500.
01:17Now, round one games, my biggest disappointment, not so much with the committee.
01:22I think they did the right thing a little bit late, but did the right thing by boosting Miami.
01:26And this is out of the committee's hands.
01:29I think we need more standards, more benchmarks when it comes to which conference champions actually make it to the playoffs.
01:37So I'm OK with five conference champs, but there needs to be some kind of a benchmark that you've got to be a top 15, top 16, even top 20 team.
01:47And listen, I love JMU.
01:49I think Bob Chesney is going to be a big time coach at UCLA.
01:53He's already announced he's going to make that move by the G5 standard.
01:58Great program.
01:59I don't want to see them in the playoffs, though.
02:01I think we're all losing in round one by having JMU, Oregon, a repeat of Tulane, Ole Miss.
02:08Ole Miss won the first game 45 to 10.
02:11We've got another rematch in Alabama and Oklahoma.
02:14I think by far the most entertaining game will be Texas A&M, Miami.
02:19Miami, now it's your time.
02:20You've been doubted.
02:22A lot of people don't think you belong here.
02:24Go out and beat Texas A&M at Kyle Field.
02:27Aggies, by the way, this year, 7-0 at home.
02:31Now, a couple of other thoughts.
02:33We've got the Heisman coming up on Saturday.
02:35Again, Adam, we've talked about this throughout the season.
02:38Looks like a fait accompli.
02:39Looks like it'll be Fernando Mendoza.
02:41Big performance late.
02:43Some big-time throws to Charlie Becker in Indianapolis to beat Ohio State.
02:47Number one seed in the playoffs.
02:49I think it'll be Mendoza.
02:50Bigger question now will be who gets the invites to New York City.
02:55I think this year they'll cap it at three.
02:58Mendoza, Diego Pavia, great job.
03:00I think he'll finish second.
03:02And number three will be Jeremiah Love.
03:04I think he's pound for pound the most talented player in college football, but not enough big games, not enough yards in the early going against Miami and Texas A&M.
03:15I think he finishes third.
03:18A lot of controversy.
03:19I would love to get your take on this, too, Adam.
03:21I'll be listening to see what you say.
03:23Notre Dame opting out of a bowl game.
03:25I think it's a bad look.
03:27I think it's a bad decision.
03:28It's a very young team.
03:30I think a lot of these guys, CJ Carr, Leonard Moore, I think they could use more reps.
03:34So it's a lost opportunity.
03:36But it's another sign of how far we've fallen in terms of bowl games.
03:41Next week, we'll talk about some bowl tips.
03:43We've got a lot of games, 40 games to look at.
03:46I think there are opportunities for gamblers if you look real hard at these matchups.
