00:00Spread line's been talking about all week in college football. People get excited here.
00:05Thursday night football, Friday night football in a way to make way for the national championship game.
00:10Game number one, we'll talk about 273-274 in the rotation. That's tomorrow night, Joe.
00:14It's 7.30 p.m. Our first spread line, Miami taking on Ole Miss.
00:18This line hasn't moved all week. We saw the opening numbers at two and a half come out last week.
00:22Now we're still sitting at three and a half as a favorite towards the Hurricanes.
00:25A total, we're still at 51 and a half. Not much changes as we head into playoff football tomorrow night center stage.
00:32What's your spread line here, Joe?
00:33So, Donnie, I had a conversation yesterday with a couple of friends of mine that work in risk rooms in Vegas,
00:41and they need Ole Miss, and they were both on the same page about this.
00:46The books have a lot of liability on Miami right now.
00:50But we were all kind of shocked, Donnie, that they haven't seen a whole lot of total action here.
00:57The total kind of still sitting around 51 and a half, 52, hasn't moved all that much.
01:02We are starting to see a three pop in here or there around the country.
01:07But for the most part, the initial surge of money was big enough to push this thing to three and a half.
01:13And that's kind of where it's going to sit.
01:15And they think there might be some late Ole Miss money coming back the other way.
01:21But I don't think you're getting under three.
01:23So this is another one of those situations where pick the winner, Donnie,
01:27and you're likely going to cover one way or the other.
01:31Dueling lines as we have a favorite here in Miami at minus three and a half over Ole Miss.
01:36Then we flip it over to Friday Night Football, another playoff game.
01:39It's Oregon and it's Indiana.
01:41How about this line opening up at three and a half and still sitting at three and a half
01:44as a favorite towards the Indiana Hoosiers.
01:46The total is listed now at 47 and a half.
01:50Both of these teams dominated their previous matchups here in the playoffs.
01:53Now they're going to take center stage in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
01:57What's your spread line here?
01:59Seems to have been a cutoff.
02:01A couple of spots hit four and then were immediately bought back down to three and a half, Donnie.
02:07So what I'm hearing about this is that it is a very public booking right now, meaning the handle,
02:14a lot of the handle in the marketplace, man, they are a darling right now.
02:20Indiana is the public darling.
02:22And many of the guys in the risk room seem to think that late Oregon money will be coming
02:29in.
02:29A lot of sharp guys kind of sitting on the sidelines, not because they think Indiana runs
02:34away with this, but because they're waiting the last minute to come back in on Oregon.
02:39So I don't think you're going to get three now.
02:43I do think that the public will keep betting Indiana.
02:46So if you want Oregon, I would wait as long as possible, Donnie, and get the best number
02:51you can.
02:53Fiesta and the Peach Bowl.
02:55That's going to determine the national champion, which we played in Miami.
02:58Could it be the Miami Hurricanes back in the day?
03:00Always playing the championship game at the FedEx Orange Bowl.
03:03Maybe we'll get that again this year.
03:04We'll certainly we'll find out.
03:07College football and a lot of hot topics to go with here, which includes we're going to
03:10get semifinal action tomorrow.
03:12Oh, yeah.
03:13It's going to be Miami and Ole Miss.
03:14The question is going to be who's on Ole Miss' sideline, all the headaches that they
03:17have put up with, even during this run in the college football playoff.
03:21We're now seeing the list of LSU coaches on loan to Ole Miss for the CFB semifinal is
03:26now down to two.
03:28So I look back at this and say, why didn't you just let Lane Kiffin and his complete
03:32staff coach this out at this point?
03:34Because the last thing you wanted was distractions.
03:36There's two ways they could have gone about this, Joe.
03:39Let Lane Kiffin and the staff coach or nobody associated anything with Lane Kiffin,
03:44even starts the college football playoff.
03:47I can't believe they let it get to this point.
03:49It was an impossible situation for Ole Miss, because if you keep letting Lane Kiffin and
03:56the staff that's eventually leaving you anyway, and the portal time, I mean, this is the NCAA
04:02too.
04:02Had the portal not opened until that, the fact that the portal is open during this time,
04:08you would have given Lane Kiffin the opportunity to poach everyone and destroy your team.
04:13That's basically what you had to worry about there.
04:16This way, at least you can mitigate the damage by some of the, you know, the coordinators and
04:20those types of things.
04:22Okay.
04:22But I can promise you this, that question will come up, Donnie, when they lose to Miami tomorrow
04:28night, that question will come up with the athletic director.
04:31Like, why didn't you just let Lane do B-Lane and let him, why let his other guys coach and
04:38not him?
04:38It makes no sense.
04:40It doesn't.
04:41And boy, you want to talk, and again, I don't know if it would impact the ratings, but just
04:44Lane Kiffin is the LSU head coach, coaching Ole Miss in the SEC to a national championship
04:49and then wishing them well and probably not showing up at like the parade, wherever that
04:52would be in Oxford.
04:53Fantastic story here, but it looks like a lot of those coaches on their way out, only two
04:57left.
04:57We'll see if it impacts the game plan there for the Miami game against Ole Miss tomorrow night.
05:01How about this one?
05:02Indiana can become the first major college football team to finish a season 16-0 since
05:09Yale in 1894.
05:11By the way, they must not have had a good players union back in 1894.
05:14Boys are playing 16 games, taking what, Joe?
05:17Railroads across the country?
05:18Did they even have railroads in 1894?
05:21Did they have to hitchhike and walk across country with horseback?
05:24Man.
05:25It's been a hot minute, but boy, oh boy, it appears that they have figured out the whole
05:30NIL thing and portal and everything else there, and who would have thunk it?
05:35Indiana football would figure it out before Indiana basketball, Donny.
05:39I would not have had that on my bingo card, man.
05:42Would not have figured that one out.
05:44And this would never happen in the non-NIL era, which now gives every opportunity for
05:50every payroll to be exactly the same.
05:52Now you got a coach that can actually talk to those recruits and say, you want to win,
05:56you're going to come here.
05:56You want to be a quarterback?
05:57Look what I just did.
05:58Kid transferred in, won the Heisman, probably won us a national championship, and he's the
06:02number one overall pick.
06:03Oh yeah, and we have just as much money as everybody else.
06:06Get used to this.
06:07There are going to be teams out there that we never talk.
06:08I mean, heck, we never talk about Ole Miss making runs to a national championship, and
06:12here they are doing that, let alone talking about Indiana.
06:15Who's next?
06:15Kansas is going to be on the come up here.
06:17NC State on the come up.
06:19It's going to happen.
06:19Those Blue Bloods who had the only advantage was great head coach, great system, gets you to the
06:25pros, now it looks like you can do this just about everywhere and make the same amount of
06:29money the way you go here.
06:30So we'll see what Indiana ends up with.
06:32My goodness, 16-0 in college football.
06:35It's a full pro schedule right there.
06:36Let's get after it.
06:37How about this?
06:37We'll take a look at the transfer portal and maybe quarterbacks from Washington signing
06:41on the dotted line and saying, oh no, somebody's giving me more money.
06:44I'm leaving.
06:44How about Oregon running back Jaden Linmar?
06:47He's entering the transfer portal during the Ducks playoff run.
06:51He had the longest game against Texas Tech, and now he's out?
06:54What type of money did somebody whisper in his ear to give this up, Joe, and say, I'm
06:57out of here?
06:59I mean, the numbers that I heard yesterday, Donnie, were startling that there are close
07:06to over 4,000 players in the transfer portal.
07:12So what happens to those, I don't know, let's say half that don't get signed somewhere?
07:18What happens to them, Donnie?
07:20Enterprise Renacar.
07:21I mean, what are we doing here?
07:24This is, you're actually transferring in the middle of playing in the semifinal for a
07:29national championship.
07:30That's where we're at right now.
07:32It's, you better have a big game, my man.
07:35I'll tell you that.
07:35Otherwise, no transfer portal for you.
07:38Did they get a wire transfer, like, immediately when they got that?
07:42Because that only makes sense.
07:43Like, we already signed, and that cash is already in my bank account, and I'm out of here at
07:46this point.
07:47It's a new wave here in the NCAA, which feels a lot like the NFL.
07:51Talking about the NFL here.
07:52Pete Thamel, sources Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate is leaving school early and declaring
07:56for the NFL draft.
07:57Feels like Carnell Tate was there 15 years, by the way, at Ohio State.
08:00But he's leaving 51 catches, 875, and nine touchdowns for the Buckeyes.
08:05He'll be solid.
08:05And that pipeline from Ohio State had wide receiver to the NFL.
08:09Gonna continue.
08:11Top 10 pick, Donnie.
08:13I mean, he'll be a top 10 pick, without a doubt.
08:15He'll be off the board.
08:16Listen, in many aspects this year, he was better than Smith, so he was better than his
08:20counterpart.
08:21He was, he's good.
08:23He's gonna be really, really good in the NFL.
08:26And yeah, there's, he is definitely coming off the board quickly in the upcoming draft.
08:31Ah, rookie of the year, Mark.
08:32It's gonna be heating up on some of those predictive markets here to see if Carnell
08:35Tate could be the offensive rookie of the year.
08:38Let's get a quick recap there.
08:40Those two games are gonna be played in the semifinals, starting tomorrow night, 730 p.m.
08:44Eastern.
08:45That's out on the Fiesta Bowl.
08:46It's Miami and it's Ole Miss, Joe.
08:47We talked about that spread, right?
08:49Three and a half points.
08:50See where that's gonna wind up.
08:51Miami as the favorite.
08:52Close ticket counts either side.
08:53But that total 51 and a half, 52 and a half showing up here at DraftKings.
08:58That should be one to watch.
08:59Both of these games in the semifinals when we played in domes from a clean slate.
09:03And also most of these teams with some nice rest coming in.
09:06We'll see if it makes a difference with this Ole Miss game, Joe.
09:08We just talked about less coaches here.
09:09We're helping early on.
09:11Maybe that makes a difference.
09:12Miami looking for the win to get, like Miami could be playing for the national championship,
09:16man.
09:16It's been a long time saying that, Joe.
09:19And listen, I just want everyone to remember, when you look at these games, like who would
09:26you want to see in the national championship game?
09:29As intriguing as Indiana is, let me just tell you, if it's Mario Cristobal versus the guy
09:35that replaced him in Oregon, that would be another fantastic storyline, Donnie.
09:41Lanning versus Cristobal.
09:43Well, the former Oregon head, boy, I got to tell you, there is, I don't think we can
09:47go wrong in any matchup, quite honestly.
09:50And I don't know that I've ever said that when it comes down to figuring out who should
09:54play for a national championship.
09:56But the stories will write himself here, no matter who wins, Donnie.
10:00Oh, the stories will, especially with Indiana, like an Indiana.
10:03Like, I don't know what time capsule we would have been in, Joe, just five years ago.
10:07Like, hey, by the way, we're going to do a show together.
10:09Indiana's going to be far and away the best team in the country with the Heisman Trophy winner.
10:12Like, this is an alternate universe.
10:15That can't happen.
10:15Like, Indiana struggled getting, like, two wins in the Big Ten, and now they're going
10:18to go 16-0.
10:19And also, oh, they didn't play it.
10:21Like, once you get to the playoffs, you're playing great competition, big names every
10:25single week.
10:26There's no excuses for them to go, oh, they got lucky with their scheduling.
10:29This isn't the BCS era or the mythical national championship era where it's like, hey,
10:33they had an easy schedule and got voted as the national champions.
10:36You got to prove it.
10:36Looks like Indiana's a legitimate chance to do that.
10:39Taking on Oregon in that game, because, again, Oregon smashed technology.
10:42Texas Tech.
10:43Indiana smashed Alabama.
10:45This line sits as three and a half for Oregon, and they are the public darlings, Joe, with
10:49about 70% of the tickets coming in on their side.
10:51But that line isn't moving here.
10:53Oregon's going to come to play.
10:54And Dan Lanning is one of those coaches that can get in his players' ears and how much
10:57NIL they have and how much pomp and circumstance they have with the uniforms.
11:02He can still force them.
11:03Like, you know what?
11:03You're getting no respect out there.
11:05And he's one of those coaches that'll drive that home.
11:06Yeah, and you've got to love – it's so funny, too, because you've got to love Signetti.
11:13He's pulling the old playbook out of Saban, right, with the, it's very hard to beat a team
11:19twice.
11:19It's very hard to beat a good team twice.
11:21Do you know how many times he has said that from the minute that he won that game and he
11:26knew he was playing or – every time a microphone in his face, he keeps telling, well, very hard
11:31to beat a good team, that's Saban to a T. He's basically telling his team, nobody thinks
11:36you can beat this team twice.
11:38Nobody thinks you can – it's just absolutely amazing what Signetti is doing at Indiana.
11:44It is great, too, and also understand that, too.
11:46Like, I remember, like, you know, Alabama with that, like, Will Anderson, I'm saying,
11:49like, man, nobody thought we could win this.
11:50Like, you're the favorite every single year.
11:52What do you mean?
11:53That means that reverse psychology a coach can use is very, very informative.
11:57Don't read the press.
11:58They're saying Oregon's going to kill us.
11:59But, Coach, we're undefeated favorite with the Heisman Trophy.
12:02Don't you dare think that.
12:03Everybody thinks you're going to lose this game, and we'll find out here, Joe.
12:06By the way, best chance to pull the upset as an underdog, Ole Miss or Oregon?
12:11Oh, Oregon, I think, without a doubt.
12:13I don't think Ole Miss stands a shot here against Miami.
