Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh — A shocking crime has shaken the district after the body of seven-year-old Shazeb Ali was found stuffed in a sack and hanging from a tree near his house on Thursday, September 25.

The child, son of Mukarram Ali, had gone missing the previous day, and his family had lodged a missing complaint. The accused has been identified as neighbour Sandeep Nigam alias Mantu.

Police said Shazeb’s family had also received a ransom call on Thursday morning. Hours later, his body was discovered. SP Dr Anil Kumar confirmed that a land dispute between the families is also being investigated.

The boy’s mother Jasmeen, inconsolable, demanded justice: “I want CM Yogi Adityanath to bulldoze this house, and if he does not, we will do it.” The family and locals have also demanded the accused’s house be razed.

Relatives alleged police delay in registering the missing complaint worsened the tragedy. Heavy police deployment has been made to prevent communal tensions.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and forensic teams are probing the case.
