Hyderabad – In a gruesome crime, a 27-year-old driver, Mahender Reddy, allegedly strangled his 21-year-old pregnant wife, Swathi, at their Boduppal residence on Saturday evening following frequent quarrels.
According to police, the accused dismembered her body with a hexa blade, packed the parts in plastic covers and dumped them in the Musi river at Prathapsingaram. The torso was found at the house.
Police said Mahender initially tried to mislead relatives by claiming his wife was missing, but later confessed. A case of murder and destruction of evidence has been registered under BNS.
NDRF and GHMC teams have launched a search for the missing body parts. The couple, married in January 2024, reportedly had a history of disputes, including a domestic violence case filed earlier by the victim.
