A bizarre incident unfolded at the Bulandshahr court premises on Saturday when a monkey snatched a bag containing ₹2 lakh from a man who had arrived to complete a property registration process.

The unexpected incident created panic and amusement among those present after the monkey climbed a tree with the bag and began throwing currency notes from above.

According to reports, a man who had come to the chambers of advocates Sohanpal and Aamir Khan for the registration of a sale deed was handed ₹2 lakh in cash to purchase stamp papers. The money was placed in a bag and given to Ravindra Lodhi, alias Raju.

As Ravindra stepped out of the chamber carrying the bag, a monkey suddenly snatched it and ran away. Eyewitness and advocate Ashutosh Singh said the monkey climbed a nearby tree with the bag. When Ravindra and others attempted to chase it, the monkey began pulling out and throwing currency notes from the tree.

As notes rained down, a crowd quickly gathered to collect the scattered cash. The man who had brought the money was left distressed as people rushed to retrieve the notes.

With the help of advocates, court staff and members of the public, most of the cash was recovered from beneath the tree after considerable effort. Officials said ₹1.98 lakh was successfully collected, while some currency notes were torn by the monkey during the chaos.

As a result, around ₹2,000 could not be recovered. No injuries were reported, and the unusual incident soon became the talk of the court premises.
