Police in Ghaziabad's Tronica City have dismantled an alleged interstate human trafficking racket, arrested 12 accused and rescued an 11-day-old baby girl who was safely reunited with her family.

The operation was launched after the infant's mother reported that her newborn daughter had been taken from her home. Investigators used CCTV footage, surveillance and intelligence inputs to trace the child and uncover the network. Three vehicles and counterfeit currency worth ₹2.90 lakh were also seized during the operation.

According to police, the gang allegedly targeted vulnerable families and attempted to obtain newborns through financial inducements. Investigators claim the infant was kidnapped after efforts to persuade her mother to part with the child failed. The baby was allegedly being prepared for sale through a wider trafficking network when police intervened and rescued her.

Authorities have added charges related to kidnapping, human trafficking and criminal conspiracy. Five suspects remain absconding, and special teams have been formed to trace them.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full scale of the network and identify any additional victims.
