High drama unfolded on Bengaluru's Old Airport Road on Monday morning when a frustrated commuter sat down in the middle of the road to protest after traffic was halted for the movement of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's convoy.

According to reports, the man was travelling with his pregnant wife when traffic was stopped as part of security arrangements for the Governor's movement. Upset over the prolonged delay, he stepped out of his vehicle and staged a peaceful protest on the road, attracting the attention of traffic police personnel deployed at the spot.

Videos of the incident, which have since gone viral on social media, show the man sitting on the road while a traffic officer repeatedly requests him to move and warns him that action could be taken if he continues blocking traffic.

During the exchange, the commuter questioned the necessity of stopping traffic before the Governor's convoy had even arrived.

"I have work too. My wife is pregnant, and you've stopped us at the signal. Have you blocked the road because of the Governor? The Governor hasn't even come out of the airport yet, but you've stopped us here," he is heard saying in the viral video.

The man also voiced frustration shared by many commuters affected by VIP traffic restrictions, asking, "Is only the Governor a VIP? Are we nobody?"

The traffic officer attempted to calm the situation, assuring the man that he was important and repeatedly urging him to clear the road so that normal movement could resume.

Despite the officer's efforts, the commuter continued his protest for several minutes, demanding that traffic be allowed to move. The situation was eventually defused after the officer called for a police patrol vehicle. The man then ended his protest, returned to his vehicle and cleared the roadway.

No reports of arrests or legal action have emerged in connection with the incident.

The episode has reignited debate over traffic restrictions imposed for VIP movements in major cities, with many commuters questioning the inconvenience caused to the public, particularly during peak hours and emergency situations.

The viral video has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users divided between concerns over security protocols and the inconvenience faced by ordinary citizens.
